Sorry to hear about HWHNN's grandad, frank, hopefully the base will be kind and let him home for the funeral.

I just LOVE stop-start labour, it's not frustrating at all Hmm. Just taken my MIL's dog for a nice long walk (for us both, I'm obviously heavily pregnant and he's a 14 yo Border Terrier - neither of us are really energetic!) and now I'm back on the ball.

FrankelandFilly · 16/08/2014 13:54

Oh Ginge how frustrating for you. Hope the bouncing gets things shifting.

We still don't know what is happening with HWHNN, to be honest until we have a date for the funeral they can't say if he can come back or not. If I'm honest, I don't think they will let him. He's very matter of fact about it all, I think he sees it as a release, his grandpa had been in the home for about 8 years with failing mental and physical health.

Babies definitely don't sleep as much as the books claim. Apparently E should be taking 3 naps totalling at least 3 hours a day, I'm lucky if she has a total of 2 hours a day as all her naps range from 20-45 mins Hmm

eurochick · 16/08/2014 14:13

The uncertainty must be hard on him, frank.

Hurrah for crib sleeping draf. One good thing about C spending 3 weeks on the unit is that she is used to sleeping by herself. That's not to say that she doesn't like snoozing on us, but she is mostly fine when plonked in a crib/basket.

fankle that is great news. I'm really happy for you. I didn't think my 20 week scan pics were as good as the 12 week pics either. Don't worry about being asked back - that happened to loads of people with uncooperative babies on my August AN thread. I didn't need a recall but had the same as winks - a ridiculously active baby, making taking measurements difficult. I was in there for almost an hour!

Winks I have no suggestions. We had a pretty bad night too. After having to be coaxed to eat anything at all up to the middle of last week, C has now turned into a milk monster and basically wants to be fed all the time. Until she throws up (including in the middle of the night over herself and me, necessitating an entire change of clothes for both of us...). It's normal for growth restricted babies to want to catch up as they are born on less than their "natural" centile due to not getting enough nutrients in the womb, but this is ridiculous!

ginge I hope things ramp up for you soon.

Aw sorry about the fabric bugs, I hope it turns out ok.

Having tried a variety of high chairs I luff my antilop. So easy to clean and compact. With Faithlet when she was little we'd eat with her on us/in her bouncy chair/swing. Later we waited for naps or bed time before eating. High chairs require sitting balance which comes about 5-6 months. My sister has a reclining booster which Faithlet would go in from about 4 months but not for very long.

SinkyMalinks · 16/08/2014 17:17

We have a snug (m&p bumbo thing) which R could sit in from about 3/3.5 months. Meant I could do the washing up with him watching. It's more use now as he can entertain himself for a while in it. Tbh, R spent a lot of time on the kitchen floor on a towel!

GingerScouse · 16/08/2014 17:20

They've discontinued the antilop, by the way. I still want to spunk money on a tripp trapp.

ginge, they have but you can still pick them up in store I've found (Warrington, Manchester and whichever one is near lincon). Says unavailable online though.

GingerScouse · 16/08/2014 17:51

Ahh. They must have run out in Leeds then.

katandkits · 16/08/2014 17:54

I never got the hang of the stretch wrap. I love the close caboo though. It is made of the same fabric but easier to use. Its so snuggly for a new baby. Once she is a little bit bigger I will use my bondolino carrier again which in my opinion is easier than a buckle carrier. I got it off Amazon.

Bouncy chair on kitchen floor is what you do when you want to wash up or cook. Some highchairs can be used sooner but most require the baby to able to sit up. Hauck sit and relax is one you could look at or Tripp trap with newborn seat if you are really minted. I wouldn't bother myself though.

TheOriginalWinkly · 16/08/2014 20:01

bugs the Moby takes a bit of practice but the baby love love loves being wrapped in it, you can see how happy she is in it. I'm a dick for not thinking of that to get her to sleep this morning. I think I'll go for an Ergo when she's bigger.

The baby has been on a feeding and sleeping frenzy this afternoon! She'll only sleep on my boob though. Doesn't bode well for tonight...

TheOriginalWinkly · 16/08/2014 20:06

bugs the baby likes sitting in a swing so she can see around her (nosey wee thing). Similar to this, its not easy to move from room to room but we're in a flat with an open kitchen/living room so it suits us. Sometimes she just goes on the floor as well.

FrankelandFilly · 16/08/2014 20:08

I use the bouncy chair for E while I'm in the shower/cooking/washing up. God knows what I'll do once she's able to sit up and I can't use it anymore!

I went for a walk with E in the Ergo this afternoon. It was the first time I've used it since she was teeny as I couldn't use it with my sore boob and then I didn't want to use it in the heat. She seemed happy with it, she spent the whole walk sucking on the shoulder strap Grin

I tried the ergo at a sling meet. I expected to love it but I didn't find it comfy. I luff my Tula. On the more expensive side as carriers go but worth it!

You have to buy a new born insert bugs. If I have another I reckon I'd still use my stretchy when baybee is little and move up to the Tula when they are bigger. That's a bit intense! I'd maybe contact them ahead and explain your circumstances.

I've not bothered with the bed pads. Just put a couple of folded towels under the sheet on my side of the bed. Trying to keep a tiny shred of dignity!

Still no progress on cervix watch. Had bugger all braxton hicks as well so a bit Hmm. Oh well, back to the mw at 41 weeks (Wednesday) if no movement beforehand.
