Bugs your boss sounds like a right dick. Final countdown though...

Euro lovely to see C chunking up. I heard today that the London property market reversed for the first time in forever. I'm sure it won't last long though.

Did anyone suffer from heartburn? I feel like I'm breathing fire. And the burny burps are horrible. It's not even as though I ate anything particularly spicy or strong tasting for dinner...chicken, couscous and some green veggies. Anyone know of any cures or remedies?

My 20 week scan is tomorrow. I've had a nervy tummy all day and have veered between being really distracted at work to being super focused for about 90 minutes Not sure I'll get any sleep tonight. I've lurked on a couple of the January threads and everyone is talking about feeling the baby move/kick. I still don't think I've felt anything so am feeling quite anxious about tomorrow.

It's at 11:30. Will update in afternoon.
Did you buy that drug or have it prescribed?

Fankletastic · 14/08/2014 22:26

I think they may have told me at my 12 week scan that my placenta is on the front...wish I could remember.

SinkyMalinks · 14/08/2014 22:26

Heartburn was horrendous - get omeprazole. It's the dogs bollocks. Really. Meant I could sleep again without having to prop myself bolt upright.

And the lochia. Ming. Think I was using mat pads for 8 weeks total. Thought it had gone away at 4 weeks ish, but it was just teasing me (and gave the midwives another reason to tell me I was doing too much). Agree boots pads are good. Avoid sainsburys. Can't remember why - think they were a bit small (relatively speaking) and the sticky strip resolutely unsticky.

Lansinoh breast pads (while we're on the topic of bodily fluids) really are so much better than boots or supermarket own (tommie tippie were good as well and are more often on offer I found). Wish I'd got washable reusable pads at the start. Seems a bit pointless now as I'm planning on cutting right back on the bf at 6 months (she says, despite having no other bloody way of getting R to sleep), but I've spent a fortune on them in the last 4/5 months.

Without sounding too twee Bugs, it'll be a lovely reminder of all this. I can't really remember my bump now. I know I'm not sad to have lost it - I can remember not sleeping, the heartburn, sore hips and the labour, but can't really recall having that beach ball physique!

eurochick · 14/08/2014 22:42

I tried reusables. And leaked through them in about an hour. So I'm back with Lanisoh now.

FriendofDorothy · 14/08/2014 23:08

I use Lansinoh pads too. Worth spending the cash on them. I have reusables but won't use them until I on bfing a couple of times a day.

SinkyMalinks · 14/08/2014 23:12

Oh, that makes me feel better - I'm still (STILL) soaking through Lansinoh pads so maybe reusables aren't the way to go.

bugs I think the bump photos are nice. I took lots, albeit in clothes, and i'm glad I did.

fankle good luck today. I vote ranitidine for heartburn too. You can buy 75mg tablets in boots and tesco, but if it doesn't do the trick I believe doctors prescribe a 300mg version. Heartburn is evil.

I bought a massive box of lansinoh breast pads when I was diffed and they were on offer, i've used three. HWCA keeps taking the piss out of me, he reckons if we ger flooded we can use them as flood defences instead of sand bags Hmm

I woke up about half an hour ago and panicked because the baby was sleeping so peacefully and still. Now she's sleeping but grunting like a powerlifter so I still can't sleep.

I had my 6 week waste of time post natal check yesterday. They weighed me. I am officially a Fat Fuck :(

SinkyMalinks · 15/08/2014 08:53

Sigh. Another argument this morning about formula. R is sleeping worse than ever, but he's had diarrhoea for a week and so I'm letting him feed as much as he wants. GHJ told me at 7am that I need to switch to formula as he's obviously not getting enough energy from me.

I'm not against formula, frank - I think you've put it well in previous posts, I just disagree that it's going to be a magic solution to not sleeping/fussy feeding etc etc. My nights will be even more crap if I'm getting up to give a bottle rather than wapping a boob out. Tbh, nights are crap atm because I'm back to having to change 2/3 nappies after weeks of not needing to.

The other problem is R still won't take a bottle. This is another excuse apparently.

This all came up because GHJ hates watching me struggle. It seems that heroic emotion didn't stop him leaving his 6am alarm on repeat while he was downstairs, waking me and R; stepping over all the pooey overnight clothes that needed to go downstairs and the nappy bags by the front door that need to go into the outside bin, and leaving his breakfast dishes for me wash up.

Rage rage rage

And he's working this weekend so I'll be getting no help again.

TheOriginalWinkly · 15/08/2014 10:11

Oh sinks, how infuriating Angry Poor R and his bad tummy too.

SinkyMalinks · 15/08/2014 10:42

Thanks winks. Think I've lost perspective. I don't know if I've just reverted to my usual stubborn in the face of adversity type.

R at least seems fine, despite his exploding bottom. Frequent nappy changes seems to have got the resultant rash under control. The extra washing is a pain though, esp now the weather's crap (no tumble dryer). And sinkycat has delightfully infested the house with fleas. Mmmm. So am daily hoovering, spraying and flea combing etc etc.

Ever wish babies came with a pause button? (And cats)

One pack of pads! I'd got through one pack within the first day. Its nice to wear two at once at first. Then I think I used another five or so packs of sofa cushions and then was using the slim ones instead. I did bleed for five weeks though. Also used tesco.

Sinks, sorry to hear about the man issues. Unless he is going to get up and do formula in the middle of the night he ought to wind his neck in.

maamalady · 15/08/2014 16:30

GHJ is being a dick, sinks. A well meaning dick, but a dick nonetheless.

I didn't need many pads - one pack of maternity pads (tesco) did me for the first week, and I swapped to normal sanitary pads very quickly. Then had sudden flooding and huge clots at three weeks so used most of another pack. Now have barely a smear and am down to just liners six weeks after birth. I don't know if having a c-section makes any difference, though.

For those of you who have already laid, can I have some feeding bra recommendations? I'm currently wearing bravado bras, which are great but size large is too small for my enormoboobs, and I'd like to see if there are any other good ones before I shell out for XL ones.

Draf, bravado were great for the first few weeks, but they're not much use if you have big boobs - I needed small for back size but xl for boobs. I made do with medium, but it really wasn't great once I was off the sofa!

I'm in john Lewis (but only go up to ff, but quite big sizing), Anita (online from figleaves- random sizing) and another random brand from jojo that's ok. Keep meaning to go to bravissimo but not got round to it'

FriendofDorothy · 15/08/2014 17:23

I wear Bravado bras although I have gone down a size from XL to L as i found them more supportive.

I tried loads of bras and found all other ones horribly uncomfortable.

TheOriginalWinkly · 15/08/2014 17:30

I'm in Royce bras, currently in a 36h though they definitely go up to at least a j cup. John lewis sell them. I do like taking it off at the end of the day and swapping it for a light support nursing vest.

eurochick · 15/08/2014 17:34

bugs the August AN group on here formed a FB group and we have "bump (or now in some cases, ex-bump) Wednesday, so I took lots of bump pics for that. It was nice to see it grow, and to see how I compared to fellow August differs.

draf I'm using Bravado (in medium, for my not-quite-enormo boobs). I've tried one other brand but find them a bit crap.

sinks who will be doing the middle of the night formula prep? I think that is key.

Does anyone else get the impression kat thinks bugs needs more pads? ;)

katandkits · 15/08/2014 18:54

I am in debenhams 36h nursing bras, they are OK. As soon as boobs settle down I will be buying some Anita underwired nursing bras. They are so much nicer. I seem to remember engorgement and leakage being less of an issue by about 12 weeks. Bravado ++ bra is quite good for ginormabooby but it is still in the monoboob category. I think elomi are also supposed to be good for big boobs. If you are crafty there are instructions online for converting normal bras.
