Hope Cs a bit better this morning Euro. R got a cold/bunged up nose at about 4-5weeks. A bit sturdier than C, so you'd be right to have a low threshold to get her seen, but he did well sitting in his bouncer in the bathroom with a hot shower running a couple of times a day - cleared his nose beautifully! The snot sucker was crap imo. Resorted to sucking over his nose once myself. Grim.

How's c now euro? Hope she's ok.

Snot is grim.

The weather here is awful. I'm not even attempting to go anywhere, except maybe tesco in a bit. I've had a nice snuggly day with the baby, sang to her (poor thing!), gave her a massage, now she's conked out on me and I'm watching The West Wing.

Oh I tidied my lady garden today. It was bliss to be able to see it!

Fankletastic · 11/08/2014 09:43

Checking in after a busy week and weekend. Thanks for the advice re weekends away in the third trimester. Am going to see how I feel and prioritise the wedding trip.

Had a nice time with my mum and discovered her hearing is actually ok...it really was her phone playing up. So she's got a new one now which is much better. Saw most of the family and had a lovely sunny day out at the beach on Saturday (which I appreciate so much more now that I live so far from the coast). Built sandcastles with our niece and nephew...and generally had lots of fun being around them (they're 3 & 5). They're very cute and exited about their new cousin

I'm definitely getting bigger. Hadn't weighed myself for about a week and seem to have put on 2 lbs over the last 5 days! In total I think I've gained 11lbs- is that normal at 19 weeks? I'm quite petite normally so maybe I need to put on extra lbs. I keep waking up v early in the morning with an achy lower back. It's actually pretty bad (even with the dream genii) but seems to disappear throughout the day.

Am also wondering if the funny womble twinges I've been having the last week or so are fanklet's first movements..?! It doesn't feel fluttery, just twingey and a tiny bit painful, like a minor period cramp. Keep worrying that's it's something bad...but trying to convince myself it's probably tiny movements. Any thoughts wise hags?

Euro so glad to hear C is home. Lovely photos on t'other place by the way. Hope her little cold clears fast, poor thing...as if she hasn't been through enough.

Bugs my sympathies on the disturbed sleep and wonky lady garden. I'm actually impressed you were able to do it yourself and see down there. I've warned MG he will have to help out with the lady strimming (I'm not a big fan of waxing) and paint my toenails etc when I'm too big to bend over.

I ordered a swimsuit, bikini, work dress and summer maxi dress from seraphine - all amazing!! Apart from the maxi dress needs about 6 inches taken off the hem. It may be unwise to attempt this myself as am such a novice sewer. Feel a bit more prepared for our holiday in September now. I love having a bump!

Thanks Bugs for the reassurance on the weight and the first movements. I've read and heard from people that it can be felt as early as 16-18 weeks but I'm going to give it another week or so before stressing. My next scan is on Friday anyway

I felt movement at 17 weeks - cold drink on a night shift! But not consistently for another two weeks. Weight gain sounds fine - for both of you! I only gained 14lb but I am obese so was told to be careful. I think that was a combination of morning sickness (lost 3lb first trimester!) and then going back on the ward so running round a lot.

I was 20 weeks too. We hit turbulence on a flight and there was definite movement. It was like the baby was going "what the fuck was that?" and trying to find something to hold on to in there!

bugs I hope the menkulling over movement has passed. I was lucky that C was very active as because of the problems I was told to keep a very close eye on foetal movements. I would have driven myself crazy with a quiet one!

It seems not to be a cold, thankfully. She's just a bit grunty at night. The mw thought it could be due to either being colder than she is used to (incubators are toasty and the ward itself was very warm) or just the different environment (more dust here than a sterile hospital ward and so on). It doesn't seem to be anything to worry about, although that doesn't stop us laying awake listening to her breathe!

She's had a couple of trips out, bugs. We went to the market in the carrycot on Saturday, and we took her on her first shopping trip to Mothercare in the carseat/travel system yesterday. She slept through both, so I take it that she approves.

The mw came yesterday to see how we are doing and advise on bfing. She didn't have any magic solutions, but did suggest lots of skin to skin and trying nipple shields to see if they help her latch, so we are giving that a go. She weighed her and she has passed the 4lb mark! My little chubster. :)

fankle I put on loads of weight in the early weeks, and then it levelled out a bit. I put on 2 and a half stone in all by 34 weeks, only 3 and a half pounds of which was baby! I'm now 3 and a half weeks post delivery and my belly has a very slight pot and is a bit wobbly but I am confident that when I can exercise again, that'll go. I'm a stone over my BFP weight, and that seems to be mostly on my bum and thighs, but my weight is going down all the time, and again when I can exercise I think it'll come off. There is no way I am cutting calories at the moment, as C needs all the calories she can get and she is only getting them through me. I've done absolutely nothing to get rid of the stone and a half (bar a mountain of stress and a shedload of hospital visits). In fact, I have never in my life eaten as many take aways, cake and fizzy drinks as I have in the past three weeks - hospitals are not healthy places to hang around! So try not to worry about the weight. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I was just coming on to say the same thing as Bugs Grin

Happy Due Date Ginge, how goes Labour Watch?

eurochick · 13/08/2014 14:25

Happy Due Date!

bugs we had her tucked away in her carrycot for the first trip so no one could really see her. We did have a pregnant shop assistant chatting to us in Mothercare. She was lovely. :)

I have another bloody blocked duct and feel crappy again. FFS. I wanted to go out to the park for some fresh air this afternoon. After so long in air conditioned hospitals I am desperate for some time outside. Grrr.

Call the midwife, bugs? Hopefully it's just one of those things, but better safe than sorry (and if you're anything like me, worry will make stomach issues worse)?

Boo to blocked ducts but yay to being home, euro!

Good luck ginge, here's hoping you're unlike me and don't have another twelve days before baybee turns up :)

All is well here, the calf is still spectacularly awesome Grin Apologies for HOTB's photo spamming facebook, for those of you on there, he just can't help himself Grin

Hoorah for upset tummies bugs Wink

Looks like due date will come and go with no sign of labour. Midwife this morning gave me the wonderful news that Miniginge hasn't engaged any more in last 2 weeks (still 4/5 palpable). Luckily she seems to be supportive of watchful monitoring if I get to 42 weeks (I think that's the right terminology) rather than OMFG YOU HAVE REACHED AN ARBITRARY DATE, WE MUST PUMP YOU FULL OF ARTIFICIAL HORMONES.
