Congratulations Auntie. Good to hear from you. What a tough time, though! Hope you're recovering well and enjoying your precious little boy.

Having period-like pain and a sore back right now. Felt very nauseous earlier so am resting as much as possible. Not sure whether I want anything to come from this pain. Spare bits for the crib arrived today so that was what I really wanted to be here before things start. I guess there's nothing else - apart from having a clean house!

So will be feet up tonight and DH being super dad/husband.

Incapinka · 08/07/2014 18:13

Congratulations auntie and so pleased to hear from you and that you are on the road to recovery.

What a day. Today was DHs last day on leave before going back to work so had hoped to make the most of it. He did his training this morning and I took DS to toddlers and then had the midwife at lunchtime. Bloody midwife. Last time she saw me she panicked and sent me in for a growth scan. This time she majorly panicked and sent me in to be put on the trace. 2 out of 2 visits resulting in hospital. as due date tomorrow I drove straight in, DH alerted troops only for us to be sent home 2 hours later. So much for nice relaxing afternoon. The MWs at the hospital were lovely and kept reassuring me about how baby was moving but I could have told them that but would have loved them to have had a look to see if anything was happening but they refused. DH back to work tomorrow so that would be Sod's law...! And now panicking mw wants to see me next week but surely I can have a sweep before then? Grrrrr.

Hope everyone else has had more successful days! Is it too early to go to bed?!

Plateofcrumbs · 08/07/2014 18:19

Finally saw the consultant after 2hrs 45min wait!

ome talk now (after all this time) that in the event I needed a C-section of doing a 2-for-1 op to remove the endometriosis as well. Apparently due to severity of the endo I might need a c-section like operation anyway (I'd assumed they could do it keyhole) so there's a possibility I go through a natural birth then have to have the equivalent of a c-section anyway. OR I might get to have a c-section and they deal with the endo at the same time. OR I have a c-section, they don't remove the endo, recover from the section and then have to go through the same again a few months later. OR (and we can but hope) I get a nice straightforward natural birth and keyhole surgery on the endo. And in all this hope they don't fuck up my ovaries such that I can't have more children. Confused

Incapinka · 08/07/2014 18:39

Oh plate. You would like to think they could be a little more decisive wouldn't you? So what happens now?

icklekid · 08/07/2014 18:54

Gosh plate lots of those options are seriously rubbish....would you prefer c section or natural birth and keyhole?

auntie thank you for sharing, glad things are getting better but it has obviously been very tough!

kiwi if it helps those symptoms may last a while!

Walk didn't seem to do much still feeling sick, still got lower back pain, braxton hicks a lot and then sharper pains. My ball is definitely my friend Smile through gritted teeth! Hoping that it might pick up more tonight. ..

Plateofcrumbs · 08/07/2014 18:58

Mostly just wait and see now. No plan for an ELCS now the baby is head-down, so it'd only be in event of EMCS that they would have a look at the state of endo whilst they were at it (perhaps).

Anyway looking on positive side I'm so glad they only discovered the endo after I was pregnant as it would have been horrible going through this worrying if I were able to have children at all. My ovaries might be 'riddled with disease' (thanks for that turn of phrase, Ms Consultant) but hey, at least they worked!

Also on positive side confirmed the baby is defo still head-down, although not engaged at all yet.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2014 18:59

Plate Horrible long wait, and then nothing concrete. That must be so frustrating. How much of a say do you get?

ickle I didn't have any of this last time - just a few false labours (from 24 weeks) - so it's like I'm in new territory! I guess every pregnancy is different. Hoping yours pick up asap!

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2014 19:00

Xpost. Good that the baby is still head down. Hope you don't find it all too stressful.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 19:26

Glad you're home auntie.

plate that sounds like a lot to take in, especially in the run up to birth. Wish I had something helpful to say, but good that baby still behaving :)

inca sorry you had such a rotten day.

ickle cake sounds a good a distraction technique as any! So far I've tried shopping, walks, a film, yoga, naps and now just lying down listening to music. A cake quest will be tomorrow's goal if this is still going on.

ismarah · 08/07/2014 20:04

Plate if they combine the ops, would you be able to have a spinal block for the baby or would it be a general anaesthetic? They can convert from the spinal to a general quite easily but it's something to consider. All your options sound kind of horrible unless you get a good VB and can have keyhole later to sort endo. So sorry none of this is any clearer or more obvious and consultants are rubbish.

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 20:24

Oh plate that truly is a rubbish set of options, but as you say it's great that you managed to conceive so good to focus on the positives. I guess all you can do now though is wait and see how labour progresses and have an open mind re the different possible eventualities.

inca sorry you seem to have a super panicky MW- not helpful! And can't believe they wouldn't check whether things are progressing, though think they may try to avoid doing internals til they know there's actual signs of labour. Think they prefer to wait til edd before doing sweeps too.

Speaking of sweeps I've been offered one at MW app on Saturday which is my edd. Was hoping to avoid too many internals but with everything that's happened this week I think I might like to at least know where things are up to even if I don't have the actual sweep (which I'm not keen on).

nancy I feel your pain re overactive toddler. I've missed DS so much these last two days and was so very happy to see him tonight- he ran in the door to he shouting mummeeeee at the top of his voice but was so overexcited to be home again that he ran around the living room for ages - made me tired just watching him :)

ZingGoesPop · 08/07/2014 20:57

evening all!

Final NC as I'm 39 weeks today.Smile

sorry for neglect, had a difficult few days (DS4 has Croup, DS1's not well, I have been in a lot if pain).

good news is that hopefully we have settled on names.
as in I have names I'm happy with, while DH is doing his usual "unable-to-agree-but-has-no-better-ideas" thing.
the ones I want make me smile and feel happy, so we are not discussing it any further until baby's born.

I missed a lot of what you all posted, so Congratulations on any new babies since Friday and I hope everyone is doing well.

big hugs to all who need it.
xxx

icklekid · 08/07/2014 21:06

Good to have you back zing and great you have names sorted! Rubbish that ds1&4 are not well Sad hope they are on the mend!

blue might be worth going to midwife and seeing what they say - how likely they think a sweep is to work before agreeing. Mine isn't booked until 40+5 but hoping not to make it thay far!

its I've given up everything is still painful but slow so having a bath in the hope it will relax me and might get some sleep tonight!

AuntieMaggie · 08/07/2014 22:06

Has anyone got any tips for dp to feel more involved/useful? I think he's being amazing but he's feeling a bit useless and down.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2014 22:06

Hi zing. I like your new name. Grin Hope your DCs are better very soon.

I'm on my 4th bleeding nose of the day. I am very much looking forward to no longer having to sleep with my mouth open, being told I snore, and feeling stuffed up all the time.

Still having some back pain and plenty of tightenings. No regularity to them, though. Have been so tired today, as well as off-and-on with the nausea. Not sure it's anything, really, but going to call my Mum since she's had 7 babies. She's keeps telling me that 12+ years (since my youngest sister was born) is really too long to remember and DSis4 was so different from the rest of us that she's probably no help, but Mums know. Mums always know.

DH has just about finished putting the crib together fully - just waiting for the glue to dry so the lock stops moving - and then I can tick that off my list. Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2014 22:07

Auntie what about helping with bath time, doing burping, that kind of thing?

Safyre · 08/07/2014 22:17

Midwife phoned today to say that my 2nd growth scan has been cancelled - apparently the consultant doesn't think it's necessary. So I will just have to stick to hoping that this one is earlier and smaller than DS was!

Lots of tightening tonight but nothing else...

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 22:17

auntie - changing/dressing the baby?

ickle - great minds think alike! Once I've done watching Germany humiliate Brazil at football I'm also going to get in the bath in the hope that will let me get some sleep tonight. Still getting the occasional str

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 22:20

(Whoops) strong tightening but they are still all irregular, some every 4 minutes, some every 15...

zing congrats on getting the names sorted, hope the DC feel better soon.

NancyinCali · 08/07/2014 22:39

auntie yes to dressing/changing/bathing etc. I used to go to bed once crazy evening cluster feeding had ended at around 9 and leave DD with DH until he came to bed and I fed her again so he got to feel useful then as I was getting a little break.

Incapinka · 08/07/2014 22:42

Been an uncomfortable evening and now in bed. Going to have to try and track down panicking midwife tomorrow and see what her next plan is as due date tomorrow and as she pushed me out the door earlier she just muttered booking into see her at 41 weeks. I want a sweep before then!

Hope everyone sleeps well

ZingGoesPop · 08/07/2014 23:34

Kiwi

snap - I had 4 nosebleeds yesterday!

Auntie

Tell your DH that apart from bf he can do everything else - while you have a bath, a sleep, a chat on the phone etc!

But the best thing is cuddles.
Our babies always had lovely naps on daddy's chest, it was what DH enjoyed doing a lot (while watching tv Wink)

The physical closeness of skin to skin contact, feeling warm and safe, listening to mum/dad's heartbeat etc are very beneficial for baby so just get your DH to do that.
I don't know a better way to bond in the early days and I'm sure he will feel better after each "snuggle" session.

holiday

irregular contractions are very common in early labour, so keep on jotting down when each contraction start and how long it lasts.
There might not be a pattern at all, but that doesn't matter - have you called hospital/MW yet?

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 23:48

sorry to hear ds's not well and you in so much pain but good to hear from you!

auntie like nancy with DS I would do the bedtime feed and then go to bed whilst DH was left in charge of DS winding and keeping an eye on him sleeping til he woke for the late feed. DH really enjoyed those times having DS asleep in the Moses basket next to him. DH has also always been v hands on with bath time and was chief winder and better at it than me!

inca definitely give the MW a call

its and ickle don't know whether to wish you a good nights sleep or that things really start moving for you?!

kiwi hope chatting to your mum was helpful. Glad you've got the crib sorted.

Well, I have some tightenings again and bump still feels so low it could actually fall out! V tired after all my walking this morning so have come to bed, hoping the tightenings don't stop now I'm not stood up though.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 09/07/2014 00:50

blue mine seem to have got stronger now I've come to bed. I thought I wanted a good night's sleep but I'm not sure that's going to happen, they seem to be about every 10 minutes roughly and I've also had (tmi) pretty bad diarrhoea since attempting to go to bed. Hmm.

zing because the hospital told us not to come in until contractions were 3 mins apart I've been putting off phoning them, but I guess if contractions continue to become stronger and more regular I should definitely do that if only to give them a heads up that we might be imminent arrivals... Am using a free app to log all contractions like a massive geek.

I just feel really bad that DH is supposed to be going to an interview tomorrow... I guess it's a good enough excuse that they ought to let him rearrange?! He's been really great today, looked after me really well.

kiwi also forgot to say glad you got the crib sorted.

icklekid · 09/07/2014 01:00

Wow 3h sleep feels amazing compared to last night and I think I may get back to sleep as not in too much pain!

its mine are similar distance apart have also been timing on app! I was thinking of ringing tomorrow if no change just to see what they said about 3 days of this... keep hoping waters will go or something dramatic to make a difference!

blue hope your not also left in limbo!

zing and kiwi will also not miss the nose bleeds!

auntie really nice that dh wants to get more involved will have to remember these suggestions for my dh!

Any news on hayley?
