ickle glad you popped in to get checked and all ok!

Hayley with DS I lost some Thurs eve, some Friday morning and he was born early Saturday morning.

nothing much to report here. Bump still feels like it could fall between my legs, any movement from baby is v uncomfortable and I get odd contraction now and again. No lost plug, no lost waters. Trying to recondition brain to fact that in 17 days it will all be done :)

Incapinka · 09/07/2014 23:04

Blue - I just had a good chat with his coach as don't think DH is being entirely honest with both of us and a bit of a step back and look at what is realistic over the next 10 weeks is needed between the 2 of them. I do want him to achieve it as we have got this far and it has been probably the most miserable period of our married life on my behalf so don't want it to be wasted but do need to see some of him and work does need to be a priority over this. I did just say to him that if I go into labour on Sunday then I won't tell him! Chances are if he was competing he wouldn't make it to the hospital in time anyway.

Also feel like the bump is getting lower and lower. Have constant need to wee yet nothing comes out. And many stabbing pains in pubic bone. Just glad I made it through today and DH now working from home for the next few weeks.

Hope everyone doing ok. So sorry about your great aunt Nancy. Thanks

ismarah · 09/07/2014 23:24

Nancy so sorry for your loss. This is one of the aspects I hate about being an expat, really feel for you.

Maggie I change bean and if she's not too fussed after that, put her in the sleepyhead in our bed, then try and sleep a bit. The way her feeds are timed now, she gets fed around 21-22.30 and so wakes up for a feed around 1-2. If she fusses when I change her I either let her fall asleep on top of me or feed her a bit of boob till she falls asleep. Then it's back in sleepyhead and that's it. She's basically wearing onesies and pj's all day so I change her clothes in the morning unless she's made a mess. She also has a pacifier but tends to spit it out more than she sucks it..

Babies aren't all the same. I suspect I may have lucked out with a relatively placid one.

NancyinCali · 09/07/2014 23:44

Thank you everyone. Yes ismarah it's really hard at these times.

auntie I didn't do anything much when DD was a newborn - changed her, fed her and popped her down in her bed (as she'd fall asleep on the boob). Like ismarah's little one, I think she was quite a placid baby! That all changed at 2.5 months so I didn't get away with it for long.

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 01:36

Aargh... Having another one of those 'I want this to happen now' impatient moments. Was nicely asleep when DS woke up crying, only for a moment but pulled me out of sleep and now I'm wide awake! DH back to work tomorrow so I have DS on my own tomorrow and Friday and just not looking forward to it... I can cope with the waiting when I'm on my own and can plan my day around a long walk to hopefully get things moving and then other distracting activities in the afternoon, but running around after a super energetic DS is another issue entirely as I just don't have the energy and really don't feel like going too far from home at any point in case things kick off.

So have been having a quiet little chat with bean to say that there really is enough time to fit in labour and delivery tonight before DS wakes up in the morning and that there's lots of lovely cuddles and milky available so much nicer out here than staying tucked up inside ;) not sure bean listening though!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 03:01

3am and still wide awake! One v active baby wriggling around but no signs of labour definitely looks as though it's all fully tailed off since the excitement of Monday so who knows how long to wait now!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 10/07/2014 04:12

So, erm... Leo Alfred born 9th July at 6.25pm, 7 lb 4 oz - healthy, tiny and beautiful in every way to his rather clueless and shell-shocked parents.

Will write the full (fairly dramatic) story on here later but for now just wanted to let you all know and say thanks for all your support over the past 'am I/am I not in labour' two days - guess what? I was!

ickle and blue I hope things have been moving nicely along for you too. blue your advice about trusting your own body was one of the mantras that got me through the whole birth (that and 2 awesome midwives, plus copious gas and air!). Feel like I've been hit by a bus (2nd degree tear) but totally on a high. Going to try a and get more sleep now :)

NancyinCali · 10/07/2014 04:18

Congratulations its!!! Lovely name :)

Plateofcrumbs · 10/07/2014 04:38

its congratulations (and great name - I was lobbying for Leo as our boy's choice myself!).

Babies are going to start outnumbering bumps soon!

icklekid · 10/07/2014 04:40

Wooo its congratulations so excited for you - glares at baby and says why aren't you as well behaves love the name Leo and what a good weight! Hope you recover quickly from tare and all goes well for next few days especially!

blue am just as impatient now although glad to have got some sleep! Woke up at midnight for hour or so, had some toast as was hungry! Managed to get back to sleep at 2ish. Now wide awake! Not a lot happening other than kicks! Think dh will be disappointed as he didn't think he would be going to work- were so close together and painful last night!

nancy and ismarah I would like a placid baby like yours please Smile

incapinka glad you were able to chat to coach I guess the not long to go, finish line in sight is what is getting you through at the moment! Have you got someone else as a birthing partner if you don't want to tell dh?

Is it mad to walk up and down stairs at 4am?

ickle I'm not expecting to be so lucky this time around ;)

Yes it is mad - go back to bed and get some rest woman!

Incapinka · 10/07/2014 05:20

Congratulations It's and lovely name. DS's name ends in an O and I love Leo!

Ickle I have had a few friends offer but to be honest I think if dh can't be there then I would prefer to just be on my own. Hopefully it won't come to that but am at least mentally semi prepared for it.

Hope everyone has got some sleep and it is so nice hearing about all these babies arriving.

ZingGoesPop · 10/07/2014 06:48

its

Congratulations on safe arrival of baby Leo! well done you!Smile Thanks

Nancy

so sorry to hear your sad news.
all my family & friends are in Hungary so I know what it's like to not be able to go at times of sadness (or joy) and join them.
I couldn't go to the funeral of my grandad (very sick as pg with DS2) and both of my godparents (DS4 was just born).
big hugs

is it weird that despite having had 6 kids already I was thinking of the actual giving birth bit and felt quite scared?
I've started to feel slightly panicky at the thought of when/how/what will happen, will DH be around, where will kids be and how childcare will be organised etc...
plus I'm a wuss with pain and I'm crapping myself at the thought of another quick birth with no pain relief (a la DS3, born in 35 mins of getting to hospital).

seeing the consultant to book ELSC for end of month will just make things worse, I'll be tempted to book it for the day after EDD!

oh and DS4 still has a very bad cough (SIL2 reckons it is croup, not whooping cough, 4 of hers had whooping cough so she is an expert!Grin ) and DS5 seems to have chicken pox.Confused
not ill with it. ( yet. )

Incapinka · 10/07/2014 07:31

Zing you wouldn't be human if you weren't feeling concerned!!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 07:41

Morning all

Woohoo its I thought you were nearly there unlike silly grumpy MW fantastic news! Hope you've managed to get some sleep. I found that the post birth on a high hormones made sleep v difficult! Re your tear get DH to get some tea tree oil and when you get home try once/twice a day to sit in a nice soothing bath with it (mix few drops of tea tree oil with some milk and tip under the running water). Worked wonders with my stitches (also 2nd degree) after DS and those quiet moments in the bath whilst I left DS with DH were bliss :)

In news here I feel wrecked, had an awful night after several good ones and woke up with a start several times, laid on my back and coughing loads - not fun! Plus I have DS on my own today and in last 48hours he seems to have decided sleep is no longer cool- I won't cope today if he refuses his nap this afternoon and that's after I've worked out what on earth we're doing this morning. Ugh, just want to stay in bed!

Apologies for lack of personal responses - will pop back later.

ismarah · 10/07/2014 08:45

Congratulations IABOH - Leo is a cool name!

GrouchyKiwi · 10/07/2014 08:46

Its Congratulations! Love the name Leo (it's one of our choices for a boy) and so glad your little one is here. Another thing you could do for your tear is get Distilled Witch Hazel (Boots has it) and put it on your maternity pads. You can put some together in advance and leave them in the freezer and it is SUCH a comforting feeling. Lavender oil with camomile works as well. Enjoy your wee boy, and hope you recover quickly.

Sorry for your loss Nancy. That is the hardest time to be away from your family.

Zing I was thinking about birth last night and realised that I am scared too. Last time it was relatively easy so I thought the idea of labour wouldn't bother me too much. Obviously starting to realise how hard it is!

Blue Don't be afraid to use the TV/DVD as a babysitter. You need rest and if your DS is good at sitting for awhile watching something then it really is brilliant. I confess I've been doing it most days with DD: I put on a Thomas the Tank Engine DVD (they're 2 1/2 hours...) and curl up on the sofa to sleep. DD sits with me and watches the whole thing. It is so helpful.

I've done something minor to my back so it's sore when I walk. I suspect it's from not wearing my shoe inserts all the time - with this heat it's far too hot to be in shoes so bare feet is my usual - so I'm trying to fix it by wearing shoes inside. They are two sizes too big and yet my swollen feet still don't fit them comfortably. Repeating the mantra "2 1/2 weeks to go" endlessly.

icklekid · 10/07/2014 08:51

incapinka fair enough at least you've thought about it and made the decision. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that anyway!

zing knowing that makes me feel more assured by how I'm feeling

blue sorry to hear you've not slept well! Hope that ds realises naps are the best thing since sliced bread!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 09:30

Quick question for those in the FB group- why is my post to it this morning showing on my timeline?? I mentioned my Mumsnet name and really don't want RL friends looking me up!! Does it only show up for me or can others see it? Am I supposed to have changed a setting somewhere? Too tired for this stress this morning :(

justhayley · 10/07/2014 09:31

Thanks Congratulations It'salways, very exciting - lovely name. My beautiful godson is a Leo. Look forward to hearing all your labour/birth details Smile hope your both doing well.

Blue blue did you have your baby? I'm not quite there with everyone's real names on Facebook, who's initials are SP? I can't think who else was planning a homebirth - if it's you or who ever SB is on here congratulations on the birth of baby Lincoln. All homebirth details wanted and desperately needed please Grin

HmmAwww Nancy so sorry to hear your news. It must be really tuff being at away from home at times like this. Thinking of you xxxxxBrewBiscuitThanks

Had a rough night, woke up every hour & a half so feeling exhausted today.

Nothing more happening with me after Jelly loss yesterday. I'm going to do lots of ball bouncing today & get that pineapple cut open lol (and probably die of heartburn after eating it). Iv been so worried about baby coming before I was ready. Now I'm ready I'm getting v impatient - 38 weeks today so don't really have the right to be impatient, but considering all HCP told me it was likely baby would be born early; end of June I feel overdue already. Also starting to freak myself out about an induction and being forced to labour in hospital which is really what I don't want.

We shall see I guess.

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 09:33

No, alas not me hayley ... Any thoughts on my FB question?

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 09:41

Think panic over, just logged onto FB from my iPad and it doesn't show up in the same way as on my phone
