Kiwi

she is getting married on my 40th birthday!
(how dare she, it will be International Zing Day! tsk tskWink Grin )

And we are having baby's baptism the next day - it will be a busy weekend.

you know you could talk to MW, explain about wedding and ask if she could give you an early sweep on the 25th July (that's a Friday), see if it helps.
that's only a few days before your EDD so really no risk to baby or anything - hopefully she'll be understanding and helpful.

She might not be though, some are a bit rigid and want to stick to rules.Confused

(But mine was really sweet and when I was pg with DS5 she gave me a sweep at 39 weeks, because I was due on 1st May, but the baby we lost was due on 3rd May the year before and I was really worried I'll go into labour/have baby on the 3rd, and I thought an earlier sweep will help avoid that.
MW was brilliant and understood why I was asking and bless her, she did it for me.
DS5 ended up 9 days late, but I'm glad I asked.)

Hi all, just thought I'd update. No sign of little bubba yet, I thought contractions had phased off as I wasn't feeling any back pains anymore. The monitor this morning, however, still showed contractions and it's so weird that I don't feel anything! Have to wait for next internal as the labour ward is so busy here and not enough midwives. They said if I'm far along enough then they'll break waters but I have to wait until a spot frees up on the labour ward. Also said that if I'm not dilated enough they'd apply gel again but that too would have to wait as that might bring on stronger contractions where waters break naturally. Sooooo, just have to wait and see now! Going back on CTG for a bit to see if contractions still there.

DP is actually coping well but gets frustrated with the delays and things. He's looking after me too but ducks out when they've been doing the internals!

Speaking of internals, the one I had last night was painful - not like the first MW who went in slow and gradually, this one went in like a rocket and wondered why I wasn't relaxed !!! I wasn't the only one who thought that, lady next to me said the same and it's so hard not to tense up when they're like that.

icklekid · 29/06/2014 15:31

Thanks zing good to have some positives! Also totally agree that you can't abandon us!

mixi hope things start happening soon, imagine it's quite frustrating just waiting in hospital!

Am currently relaxing on sofa trying to sleep instead of at the gym where I would like to be! Shattered after cooking lunch, cleaning kithen, staining the garden table (inside because it started raining!) Non stop pains- can't get comfy. ..ever!

MrsA2 · 29/06/2014 15:39

Ipsum, how rubbish! Whatever happens at least we don't have long to wait now.

Good luck Mixi, hope things get moving soon.

Been for an hour walk today (admittedly with a half hour rest in the middle!), in the heat that has totally worn me out and back is very achey. Bit sunburnt now, opps, so probably best if things don't kick off today - naughty...

Chill out afternoon/evening now.

Couple of twinges down below, really hope that may be baby moving further down but probably wishful thinking.

jbiscuits · 29/06/2014 16:57

Hi ladies, sorry I've not posted in a while, have been reading along though, so congratulations to those whose little ones have already arrived Grin

Things are getting exciting here as my waters have just gone. Do I need to ring the labour ward now, or wait to see if my contractions start overnight?

MrsA2 · 29/06/2014 17:40

Ooh exciting jbiscuits! My hospital want you to call the labour ward and probably will ask you to pop in (take your bags just in case you end up staying) to check things look ok.

Shouldn't be long for you then either way -good luck.

icklekid · 29/06/2014 18:00

Ph jbiscuits how exciting! Ring even though they will probably want you to wait for contractions. If they don't start by a certain point they will want to induce to reduce infection risk I believe..

ismarah · 29/06/2014 18:02

Jbiscuits how very exciting! Do call as they also like to keep an ear out for how you're doing if your labour starts and sort of to manage / be aware of who might be coming in and when. Hope everything goes well!

ZingWhale · 29/06/2014 18:23

jbiscuits

agree with others - call hospital.
they will check you over, put a trace on to check baby, if no contracions you might stay in or they will send you home.

so exciting, keep us posted if poss!Smile

mixi

That's very similar to my induction process with DS2.

does that mean that you are dilated a bit?
how much?
[nosy]

once they break the waters take advantage of gravity - try and be upright/on bouncing ball/kneeling etc. so baby's head will put more pressure on cervix, thus helping dilatation.

justhayley · 29/06/2014 18:34

Yay jbiscuits very exciting. With DS waters went first and contractions didn't start for 20 hours. Here they ask that you get checked as soon as waters go to make sure waters are clear and there's no sign of baby being distressed. Put a pad on and you'l be asked to give that pad to MW at hospital so they can check it out.
After that you have 48 hours for contractions to start or they induce you to reduce risk of infection.
If nothing happens overnight, I highly highly recommend getting acupuncture, I did and not only is it really relaxing but it's said to get things moving. My contractions started an hour after my session baby born 4 hours later. Grin

Wishing you loads of luck - do keep us up to date I'd love a live birth thread lol

MrsA2 · 29/06/2014 20:23

A bit achey tonight, mild period type pains. Pretty certain it's just lack of water though as I felt similar earlier in the week when dehydrated.

Bump is still very high too so doubt anything exciting is going to happen soon...

BlueC2 · 29/06/2014 21:05

Ooh biscuits hope everything kicks off nicely for you now!

mixi that all sounds frustrating but not uncommon from what I've heard from others being induced. I'm afraid my experience of internals (2 with DS and 1 to put pessary in after MC) were all pretty grim but think I tense up too much-v painful and was in tears during/after all of them! Hope to avoid as much as I can this time!

So baby is just ridiculously active-painfully so! Think it's actually trying to get out the side or front of my bump!! Sooo uncomfortable and been at it all day! I'm laid on the sofa and can just feel it wriggling away prodding down below heavily and my hips plus side/front of bump. I thought they were supposed to be less active at this stage?! I'm also getting low level period type cramps but not sure if that's just caused by all the wriggling!

Hayley so glad you got a good night's sleep!! When does your pool get delivered? We've kept mine inflated in the living room after the trial run :)

MrsA2 · 29/06/2014 21:09

Blue - I think my period type aches could well be due to a highly active baby too, I'm still getting so much movement and it's getting pretty uncomfortable.

BlueC2 · 29/06/2014 22:00

How many weeks are you now mrsa2 ? Now I think about it I seem to remember DS being pretty active even when I was in labour, I'm not sure he liked the contractions tbh!

Plateofcrumbs · 29/06/2014 22:48

I'm feeling quite achey/crampy today as well - I think combo of loads of braxton hicks and very active baby.

Having a real stress out at the moment - combination of ridiculous amount of work I have to finish off (I'm finishing a presentation for a conference on Tuesday, why oh why did I agree to this?) plus getting freaked out by the imminence of actually having a baby

BlueC2 · 30/06/2014 00:06

plate I suspect the combination of the 2 stressful things is making both worse iyswim? I seem to remember when you were asked to do the presentation and you wondering how you'd feel at this point but try to focus just on getting through that (do you finish work soon after?) and then you can shift to thinking about baby.

I've given up trying to sleep in bed and relocated to the sofa-know there will be more relocations as the night goes on! Baby still pretty active too! DS with the childminder tomorrow and Tues so tomorrow a good day for things to kick off methinks ;) come on baby!

BlueC2 · 30/06/2014 01:56

Still wide awake :( now nearly 2am!

ZingWhale · 30/06/2014 02:04

I'm a sofa-dweller too! Grin

I can't sleep.
I'm so hungry, but feel very sick. Sad
haven't had dinner, which probably makes nausea worse.
I might have a hot choc in a minute.

I am getting bored & frustrated that I just lie here most of the time, unable to do anything without fear of PGP flaring up or actustlly being in pain.

yet the more I think about it the more I don't want baby to be born before due date. if I could choose.
Not only I still feel nowhere near ready, it would be highly inconvenient as DS4 is getting ill, DS3 being on antibiotics for severly infected toe, DS2 having induction day at new school this week, DS5 having his induction day on the 7th, plus massive event nearby between 8-13th July which will make traffic impossible.
also DS2's birthday is on the 13th (world cup final too), PIL's on the 12th - it's just too much.
too much.

I just know that the next two weeks will be so very busy & stressful and I just want to get it all over and done with.
I'm really hoping I make it to the 14th - then I will be able to relax & focus on baby and giving birth.

And now I worry baby will be early and I will be resentful.Sad

ZingWhale · 30/06/2014 02:09

and we STILL haven't got names sorted.

it's not that we can't agree. we just don't know. total lack of inspiration.
which makes me feel guilty, like I don't care about this one as much as the others, because I can't even think of a good name...
Sad

BlueC2 · 30/06/2014 02:21

I had to give up on the sofa pretty much as soon as I got there and come back to bed :( as discovered DH had prep to do for work and was sat at dIning table open plan with living room with lights on etc! He's still not come to bed! Meanwhile DS has woken up crying 3 times!

Sounds as though babyzing definitely needs to stay put til 14th at least :) Names are tough- I love our girls name but still not 100% on our boys name but can't think of agree with DH on an alternative!

Sooo need to sleep!

fifi669 · 30/06/2014 02:28

Up catching up on eastenders..... Legs going mental, itchiness.... But I'm so tired. DPs birthday today, invited all his family out for a meal, could barely keep my eyes open and was dreaming of my bed. Sofa it is then....

BlueC2 · 30/06/2014 02:40

DH finally finished his work so I'm back on the sofa. Sorry you're so twitchy/itchy fifi not fun-hope you get some sleep soon. Thankfully the heat rash on my hands an feet has finally calmed down now I'm back in the cool of the living room.

fifi669 · 30/06/2014 03:30

Onto Corrie now! Tina's funeral.... At least I can catch up on the soaps, they've been neglected during the World Cup.

icklekid · 30/06/2014 05:06

blue I am exactly the same with one baby definitely trying to escape by kicking its way out- so painful!!

zing sounds like you have lots going on but I'm sure no matter when baby zing makes an appearance things will sort themselves out- they have a habit of doing that when not given a choice! Hard with poorly children though I'm sure Sad

fifi I'm also wide awake very itchy much sympathy!

Feel do ready for this baby to come out- bump definitely dropped, will be interesting what midwife says on Wednesday. Then I think about how much things are going to change post baby and think perhaps it wouldn't be too bad for baby to stay in a bit longet. Dh has manic amount of work on next 2 weeks so know it would be better for him the longer I go (38+4 today) so just trying not to focus on getting hopes up.

Any news biscuits? hayley did you get your ball blown up? Mine is amazing when pain 'down there' gets too much!
