Good luck mixi - hope it all goes well now it's finally underway.

Plateofcrumbs · 28/06/2014 13:07

Whoo-hoo Auntie congratulations! I thought you must seriously have earned some good luck after everything you've been through, so I am very cross with whoever dishes out the luck that they didn't give you a nice straightforward birth. I'm going to have serious words with them and make sure you have a lovely newborn experience instead.

And good luck mixi

Have got to go see midwife on Monday morning when I'll be 37 weeks on the nose to see whether the baby has stayed put in head down position. Bit worried that if it isn't I'll be officially "unstable lie" - some people seem to get admitted to hospital until the baby turns up when that is the case - I would be seriously unimpressed!

AuntieMaggie · 28/06/2014 13:10

mixi good luck for your induction. Take my advice and ask for pain relief even if it's only paracetomal and codeine and even in the middle of the night... don't put it off thinking you can cope with it like I did so that if it suddenly gets worse you end up really suffering. And sleep at any opportunity. Most of my examinations were fine but some doctors are less gentle than others. Oh and eat regularly because once I got to the labour suite I wasn't allowed food!

Plateofcrumbs · 28/06/2014 13:36

mixi - I've had one exam and was expecting it to be horrid - especially as midwife on hand was coaxing me to 'breathe through it' etc - and it really didn't hurt a bit, just uncomfortable. Maybe was lucky! Equally having the IV line in was fine and I've heard some people finding that painful too.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 28/06/2014 13:57

Curled up on the sofa watching tennis and feeling a bit sorry for myself - threw up all my dinner as soon as I got to bed last night and have felt low level nausea ever since. BH coming on and off too. Was supposed to be going out this afternoon for a friend's hen do but I think staying home best. Think I've just overdone it in the last week :(

Becky2208 · 28/06/2014 14:20

Good luck mixi, hope it all goes well.

I've finally managed to see a doctor! I've had another small bleed this morning, but they don't seem too concerned - the midwives think it's just a heavy show. I think they're arranging a scan for this week to make sure everything's ok, but baby's been monitored a number of times now and all looks good. The doctor has said that provided there's no further bleeding I should be able to go home this evening, and I should still be able to use the midwife led unit for the birth, so fingers crossed!

Plate - I must have been unlucky with the iv line - it hurts like hell and it's made my fingers swell (ooh - I rhyme!).

elliejjtiny · 28/06/2014 14:36

Congratulations foxtrot and auntie. mixi and becky, I feel your frustrations. I was kept waiting for ages for my induction with DS3 and CS with DS4. Then when I wasn't kept waiting with DS5 it was scary (can't satisfy me!)

ZingWhale · 28/06/2014 15:23

Auntie

Huge congratulations to both of you on brand new son, well done!
sorry birth wasn't how you hoped it would go (and do tell about it when ready to share!) but glad you're well looked after now.

ellie

Grin

how's it going?

mixi

good luck with bringing those contractions on and please be open-minded about having an epidural.
(should you decide you want want one do ask asap - I wasn't sure with DS1, but when I finally asked I had to wait an extra hour...in total agony)

becky

I'm sorry you are not treated as quickly as you shouldSad
can you hint that whatever they do is being retold to a bunch of preggo vipers on MN? it might help. ..Grin

and I liked your rhyme.Wink
I hope bleeding stops and you can go home soon

re hen-night (who said it?) - I think not.

right, it's cheesecake time.Cake

Ha, zing it was me who was being wildly ambitious on the hen do front. To be fair, I was only going to go along for the afternoon part - but really glad I've stayed home now. I went to the evening meal part yesterday and had to leave early after more BH and exhaustion. Another friend is one of the bridesmaids and says she would have sent me home if I'd turned up today!

Enjoy your cheesecake. DH is making brownies but I'm not sure I trust my body to eat them! Aargh!

BlueC2 · 28/06/2014 15:45

Ooh cheesecake, DH is making one as I type! Not sure where his sudden baking urge has come from but I'm not going to dissuade him (especially as there will be part of a tin of condensed milk left over today which I may eat slowly gorge myself on before eating cheesecake and probably be sick ) maybe DH has got all nesty on me in run up to baby arriving?!

Plateofcrumbs · 28/06/2014 15:57

I need to get a DH who develops urges to make brownies and cheesecake Envy

ismarah · 28/06/2014 16:07

I need a DH who isn't dairy and gluten intolerant. I'm happy to bake for myself but it's less fun when I 'accidentally' poison him...

Just ordered his birthday present for next week and wrapped up the one from bean. Quite pleased with my lil' self in planning in advance to be honest. Am hoping to be home before then but if not, I'm ready.

Two more sleeps. Lower back feels like it's on fire and there's a distinct 'melon in my pants' walk going on here but nothing else..

MrsB2013 · 28/06/2014 16:30

Hi everyone!!!!

My baby boy arrived Tues morning weighing 7lb 6oz! ELCS went really well, we were back home Thurs night, it was definitely the right choice for me! Found it really hard to bf at first as couldn't get him to latch, so had to keep asking for help, but we got there in the end. Now to try and get him to sleep less in the day and more at night!

I hope everyone is ok, will try and catch up when I have time between feeding, sleeping and seeing visitors!

BlueC2 · 28/06/2014 16:41

Great news mrsB huge congratulations and well done persevering with the breast feeding!

icklekid · 28/06/2014 16:49

Congratulations auntie and mrsb lovely to have baby news!

Am having painful braxton hicks- over done it a bit this morning so bouncing on my ball having had a bath Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 28/06/2014 17:00

Wow, what a busy thread!

Congratulations to MrsB and Auntie! Hope you're both recovering well, and enjoying your precious little boys.

Tired here and wanting baby to arrive even though I'm not quite 36 weeks. Sounds like another night for sitting on the sofa and eating bad wonderful food.

fifi669 · 28/06/2014 17:16

Surprised myself earlier this week, dancing around as I got out of the shower.... Stopped dead and realised it didn't hurt!

Today however I'm in lots of pain, hips hurt and I seem to have a bit of back and period type pain. Constant, low grade background pain, it doesn't come and go, baby moving well so I assume it's nothing? Could be related to hips hurting again?

Really tired too. Didn't get to sleep til around half three because of my legs and DS was up early.... Zzzz

fifi669 · 28/06/2014 17:18

Oh and congratulations auntie and mrsb :)

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 28/06/2014 18:47

Congratulations Auntie and MrsB

When I went to appointment with Dr about ELCS she basically said it needed to be done quickly because of the likelihood of me going into labour. So I had to report back at the hospital 24 hours later and it was done the next morning.

I've got to stay in until Tuesday - 5 days is standard here after csection. Having seen DS this afternoon it is perhaps a good thing to not have him jumping on me! Hospital food is kick starting my post-pregnancy diet off nicely. No cheesecake here. Been brought in an emergency supply of fruit!

Becky2208 · 28/06/2014 18:50

Congrats mrsb!

I'm finally home! Frustratingly they didn't give me an explanation, just said it's nothing to worry about.

Since I've got home I've been having some cramps and back ache - I've decided to have a bath and see if they continue. Sorry, I think this has been asked before, but how do I tell if they're actual contractions and not just painful BH?

Plateofcrumbs · 28/06/2014 18:55

Are we supposed to start laying down a bit of blubber in the last few weeks? I feel like the opposite is happening - bump is growing nicely but the rest of me seems to be looking thinner. Confused

fifi669 · 28/06/2014 20:20

I wouldn't complain plate !

BlueC2 · 28/06/2014 20:22

becky glad you're home! If you scroll up thread zing posted a v useful description about distinguishing between the two.

plate think everyone's body reacts slightly differently! though the less you gain now the less to lose! or that's how I'm looking at it she says after eating two slices of v rich homemade cheesecake but then I also found that breast feeding was by far the best diet I've ever tried!

Sat bouncing away on my ball at the moment. zing the story of your SIL made me think last night, as I seem to get BHs most evenings from 11-2ish but not during the day. Starting to irritate me as stops me sleeping and gets me excited that something might be happening but nothing come the morning!

BlueC2 · 28/06/2014 20:27

Ps mixi hope all is progressing well for you
