I didn't know it was a YES to Stilton? I'm pretty relaxed about food, runny eggs, the odd glass of wine here and there and defo smoked fish...but really can I get involved with some blue cheese??!!
Zermatt you beauty where did you read that?

Also Fancy update us soon! X

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 15:17

Honestly, head to Lidl for cheese! It's pretty much all pasteurised so fine!

Still waiting for the scan. The 3.5 pints of water I downed before are not sitting well in my bladder and not sure how much longer I can last. Bladder woes!

Will update as soon as there is news.

MademoiselleG · 03/06/2014 15:20

The French really laugh at the fact that UK says no unpasteurised cheese. It's quite hard to find unpasteurised in France and raw milk tastes so much better! But....I am being fairly sensible on that one. I am basically using the rules to avoid eating stuff I don't want to have, hehe.

Come on scan people, there are loads of us waiting for Fancy's bean picture here! (as to take a picture of the screen, that's what I did!)

Zermatt · 03/06/2014 15:27

Hope they see you soon Fancy, keep those legs crossed and think of dry things like crackers in the meantime.

I read about Stilton on the NHS website of all places;

Cheeses that are safe to eat in pregnancy
All hard cheeses are safe in pregnancy
You can eat hard cheeses such as cheddar, parmesan and stilton, even if they're made with unpasteurised milk. Hard cheeses don't contain as much water as soft cheeses so bacteria are less likely to grow in them. It is possible for hard cheese to contain listeria, but the risk is considered to be low.

I haven't had any yet, but have stored that nugget away for a rainy day. Although I thought stilton was classed as a blue rather than hard cheese?

PolytheneGirl · 03/06/2014 15:32

Woah woah woah it's a yes to Stilton? Since when? I'm so happy I've got tears in my eyes on the bus!

Back to Lidl I go! I bought 2 lots of feta yesterday. The woman is going to think I've lost the plot!

Good luck Fancy I definitely haven't just POAS and got deliriously happy that my digi has gone up a bracket. 6 weeks.. and 3+ I know it's silly but it's reassuring while I wait for 12 weeks!

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 15:44

ALL IS WELL!!!

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 16:05

Here is the camera-shy little Pickle measuring at exactly 9 weeks. Unfortunately the image is rubbish because she couldn't get anything clearer because my stupid bladder was TOO full!!

No obviously cause of the pains so we have to deduce constipation. Good but embarrassing.

I need a nap now.

Thanks for being brilliant today everyone xx

sazzlehopes · 03/06/2014 16:09

Hooray fancy for your good scan and hooray for Stilton. I nibbled some the other day and could have eaten the whole block but restrained after feeling bad....not any longer!
And we are off to France on Saturday for a week! Bring on the cheese...when in France and all that....

EnglishGirlsReturned · 03/06/2014 16:10

Glad all is well Fancy!

Zermatt - i think I would be inclined to follow the advice of the country I was living in at the time. Purely because food may be treated differently in different countries..... But then I'm an anxious annie!!

barmybunting · 03/06/2014 16:16

Brilliant fancy! What a relief for you.

Broody, glad all is well :).

Treaclepie19 · 03/06/2014 16:17

Yay fancy!!!

Gorgeous x

PolytheneGirl · 03/06/2014 16:38

Phew Fancy! What a lovely little bean!

I'm going to do some research on this Stilton situation. Is there a none blue version or something? as I'm sure mould injected cheeses are on the no go list!

chillychicken · 03/06/2014 16:45

Oh yay! Lovely fancy

poly NHS say stilton is fine! "You can eat hard cheeses such as cheddar, parmesan and stilton, even if they're made with unpasteurised milk. Hard cheeses don't contain as much water as soft cheeses so bacteria are less likely to grow in them. It is possible for hard cheese to contain listeria, but the risk is considered to be low." Smile

MademoiselleG · 03/06/2014 17:01

Yay! Lovely picture fancy, great news!!

broodysnoopstie · 03/06/2014 17:08

hooray fancy! Grin

Zermatt · 03/06/2014 17:13

So pleased Fancy :)

Re the stilton. Have been doing more reading (can't sleep) and I think the NHS website must be talking about the white variety of stilton and not the blue as being on their safe list.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stilton_cheese

That makes sense, but not as exciting. Please don't go and eat loads of blue cheese on my recommendation!

chillychicken · 03/06/2014 17:17

zermatt I found this on the NHS website "Hard blue cheeses such as stilton are safe to eat without cooking."

www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2683.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=216

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 17:19

Thanks for being brilliant today everyone xx

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 17:26

Hmm why did that post again? I certainly didn't SAY it again!

This stilton debate is getting out of hand. CALM DOWN LADIES.

fancyacupoftea · 03/06/2014 17:29

Okay so wikipedia tells me that in order for a cheese to be able to call itself stilton it has to be made in Derbyshire, Leics. or Notts. and MUST be made from pasteurised milk.

Therefore, if it's called stilton I think you can assume it's pasteurised and therefore fine!

PolytheneGirl · 03/06/2014 17:44

I just thought all mould injected cheeses were considered unsafe. I'm sure you can buy white Stilton and that that is what the NHS website is referring to.

I may be wrong Confused
