Congratulations Sparky- and Ellie glad that you are finally home - sounds like you've had quite an ordeal.

Plate- I'm with you that the graph is much too orderly, probably a decent rough guide but in reality heavily skewed.

Mixi I'm shattered too! Been trying to do bits around the house for the last hour after an hour of shopping before that - now crashed out on the sofa. Don't think the heat helps (normally I adore the sunshine).

Such backache today, but pretty certain it's just from trying to do too much.

mixi82 · 21/06/2014 17:35

Congrats ellie glad all is well Thanks

Thanks blue that's reassuring.

Sorry for all the questions but when I went to antenatal class, they said there are loads of things that might be a sign of labour. Anyway, I'm still getting these weird crampy period feelings, they aren't painful or any tightening in belly. I've noticed though after going for a wee every half hour or so, that after I've been for a wee, there's like a little trickle but doesn't feel like it's a wee. Didn't manage to catch anything on tissue or pad to check so maybe next time. Question is, if it is my waters, should I call LW?? The MW at that class said to wait and see about contractions, then call but I'm sure if your waters are starting to go you should call LW?? I guess it won't harm to wait another 24 hours perhaps. Still getting good movements from baby and the spikey pokey feeling in foofoo!!

ZingWhale · 21/06/2014 17:48

mixi

you need to talk to someone and as with ismarah I suggest you get checked out soon.
pinchy/pokey/stabby feeling is likely to be baby's head shifting and/or cervix ripening.

call whoever you are supposed to.

ZingWhale · 21/06/2014 17:51

waters breaking or suspicion of it must always be checked out, the sooner the better, even if there are no contractions!

you might be sent home or admitted on the spot, so take your things just in case.

elliejjtiny · 21/06/2014 18:35

Yes, definitely get any possible water leakage checked out. Infection in your waters can end up very nasty (been there, done that, taken the antibiotics that look like horse tranquilisers)

AuntieMaggie · 21/06/2014 19:07

nancy he'll be back Monday so not long now... feels like it though

I feel really sick. Had a nap, woke up with heartburn so have taken gaviscon and drank milk and now I feel sick.

mixi82 · 21/06/2014 19:27

Thanks for advice zing and ellie

Called LW, they didn't seem too concerned but said to put a pad on, wait a few hours and if waters have gone it will have soaked pad. They weren't concerned about clots, said prob plug starting to come away and the period crampiness along with the spikey feeling is baby head dropping further.

So all being well, I could still be on track for next Friday's inducing :)

Have double checked hospital bag incase anyway and going to have something to eat now and relax, well try to!

ismarah · 21/06/2014 20:01

I went, I went! I just wanted to be sure it wasn't urine before going - and I was right. It wasn't urine. It was TMI! discharge! To the level of running down my thighs and when they examined me, the speculum looked like it was covered in lube. Oh well, who needs dignity anyway.

Waters all intact, BP fine, bean had hiccups (first time I've heard/felt those :-) and seemed to be fine. Got told off for dehydration and ketones, indicating I've not drunk nor eaten enough today but in this heat I lose my appetite quite quickly. DH came with me and was a trooper and now we are going to sit down, relax and eat all the Chinese food. All. Of. It.

Thanks yet again for the hand holding - although I'll never plan to have 7 kids (respect!), I can see something in the whole having two or so, if only to not feel like a hysterical first timer with every little thing..

Congratulations Sparky Thanks

Pleased to see that you are home ellie. I'm sorry to hear that the birth and afterwards were difficult. I had a difficult one last time so can sympathise.

Ismarah it is good to hear that you got checked out and all is ok.

I hope you are relaxing mixi.

Zing I would be very jealous of a sewing room. I would love to describe myself as a quilter but working full time and having a toddler leaves me with very little time. I'm hoping I will be able to get started again when baby has arrived.

We've had a really hot day today, but fortunately I was able to spend most of the afternoon in the pool with DS which is easy entertainment for a toddler. And hopefully will have the added benefit of making him extra tired and sleep late in the morning!

No sign of baby arriving yet. I feel very fortunate to be quite content with waiting up to two more weeks since I've no particular pains or complaints (as long as I get an afternoon nap). I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. I've got a maximum of 2 weeks to go - they won't let me go past my 41 week due date. (French pregnancies last 41 weeks instead of 40!)

AuntieMaggie · 21/06/2014 21:30

Glad everything is ok ismarah better to be safe especially if it obviously isn't urine! Did they hook you up to a machine to check baby? Everytime they do that baby moves incessantly and last time it had hiccups for the whole 20 minutes poor love Grin they also said that I'd had some tightenings show on the trace though I never felt them!

ZingWhale · 21/06/2014 21:57

Fox

if you do it, you are a quilter. no matter how little time you actually spend sewing!Wink

oh Auntie
I'm sorry you were feeling so sick earlier - I'm pretty sure some if it is psychological what with bereavement, waiting for your DH to return, worrying about thingsSad
not sure what to suggest.
medically induced coma till his return is the only thing that comes to mind!Wink Wink
(not making fun of you though! )

massive hugs to you, I hope you can sleep ok tonight.

ismarah
I'm glad you went. at least you know.
and please, there's no such thing as TMI on a thread like this!Wink Grin

ZingWhale · 21/06/2014 22:08

and ismarah don't be daft, I would've gone to get checked, that is the responsible & normal thing to do.
(not a twitchy first-timer thing!)
don't ever feel silly for asking or double checking stuff.
a healthy you and a healthy baby are what matter - rather 10 false alarms than missing something vital!

mixi

glad you asked for advice as well.
if you go to the toilet make sure you clean yourself well (warm water on flannel, then dry is good) and put a fresh pad in - it's the only way to avoid any smell of urine lingering, which would mask the no-smelling amniotic fluid!
if you feel leaking and you can't hold it back - it's not pee.

hth

ismarah · 21/06/2014 22:28

I didn't get hooked up to continuous monitoring but did have to lie there for 20mins waiting for fluid to gather.

Apparently the smell of amniotic fluid is vaguely sweet and slightly semen-y. Which was exactly what I was smelling on my thighs but then the usual vaginal erm..juices smell quite sweet when fresh...which I guess they'd have to be to be in that quantity. If you do go in for a check because of fluid trickle, make sure you can wee, btw, as urine is the first thing they check - I was low on supply.

They were very nice and until they did the internal they were also wondering what it was and were perfectly prepared for it to be amniotic fluid. What is it about me, weekends and odd fluids?! Last weekend it was blood, this weekend it was discharge. Oh well, still counting down the days Grin

DH and I did come somewhat closer to figuring out a name, although it's still a bit abstract to us. I did quip that if this was it and bean arrived tonight, I'd scour A Midsummer's Night Dream for a name..maybe not Titania though...as DH vetoed it.

OP posts:
GrouchyKiwi · 21/06/2014 22:52

ismarah Hopefully not Bottom, then?

Feel like baby might have dropped today. Have less heartburn and need to pee all the time. Still breech, though, judging from the kicks I'm getting in the most uncomfortable places. Gosh, pregnancy's a joy isn't it?

BlueC2 · 22/06/2014 01:31

ismarah glad all ok

Well it feels as though baby is burrowing downwards :) starting to feel more waddley/melon between legs esque and little feet now able to stretch upwards towards ribs to kick where before legs were bent over to the side so kicking only on side of bump. Plus lots of 'pressure' down below. Hoping that this is another good move towards things really getting started though fully aware it could still be days or weeks yet

Hope everyone fast asleep!

mixi82 · 22/06/2014 03:15

I'm not fast asleep....:(

Was feeling zonked at about 9.30pm, fell asleep and have got up 3 times since. Mostly to go to the loo but had OC in feet really bad and now can't get comfy lying down or sitting up. Resolved to knitting for now which will hopefully take my mind off itching and get me off to sleep again.

In theory, only 5 more nights left....

Oh! No more leaks since calling LW so was probably a weird trickle of wee or something!

icklekid · 22/06/2014 04:41

I'll join mixi did too much yesterday and suffering now! Went to collect an electric steriliser from a friend, drop off some presents for dh family and friend then went and picked my sister up from train station. Her and her bf came over for the weekend which is lovely but I felt I needed to entertain so we went for a picnic that dh was meant to sort in the morning. ..no comment!!! Had a lovely picnic then walked around the lake at which point I was exhausted! Came back and had pims (sadly I did not) and she told me they are moving to Sweden in sept. I knew this was a possibility but not confirmed. Noe we are not hugely close but get on well when together and with baby so close thought we might get to spend more time together but clearclearly not..dh didn't understand why I got upset! Anyway sm planning on letting her and her dp have some time together tomorrow morning (she lives in London he lives in Durham at the moment!) Which also means I get to do nothing!!! Sorry for long post I blame 4am!

auntie Monday is so close! You can make it and will be so good for you both to be together!

mixi hope your asleep now, no more leaks is a good thing!

I still can't believe I don't have to go to work for 9 months but do have to have this baby soon!!!

justhayley · 22/06/2014 05:00

Hoya just doing my usual 4am MN catch up Confused.
Woke up at 7am yesterday before DS for a change, & don't no if it was nesting or what but started to really go to town on the house unpacking. I was really stressing that dinning room (where I plan to give birth) wasn't ready. Iv moved every box including some heavy ones I know I shouldn't have touched into one corner of the room. Had some shelves in there put up Friday so managed to unpack a few boxes and having more next week so should be able to almost clear what's left. Then went on a home birth page and looked at peoples photos (ignoring the mum & new baby just looking at the background and peoples houses) and realised I really don't have to have an empty perfect room - although knowing me I'll feel better if I do, won't relax if in labour I'm thinking MW is looking around thinking I'm a slob lol. Feeling a lot better about it now.
MW is coming Tuesday for my home visit and then Thursday my birth pool hire place call to arrange delivery of the pool. DP is back in the country in a few hours, and this week once iv bought the remaining bits I need for labour & afterwards (maternity pads etc) and had my hair done I'm good to go. I'm after a nice 37+3 baby Grin

Your waters stories are amazing to me. With DS I went to bed& immediately fell asleep. 5 mins later woke up felt a tiny bit of what I thought was wee coming out, got out of bed thinking Jesus I'm wetting myself now and as I got out the bedroom door a load came out (still unsure if I'd wet myself). DP & I were at my mums that night, she was in the bath so I waddled down the hall actually went in the bathroom while mum was in the tub & said mum I'm not sure if my waters have gone or iv wet myself, as I finished my sentence they gushed out all over the bathroom floor lol mums response "I'd say that's your waters". She jumped out the bath in a panic - usually extremely under control & for a still unknown reason I hoped in her bath - same water & everything Blushbit gross lol.
Once out I woke DP and told him waters had gone he replied what does that mean, erm the baby is coming, he then smiled and said cool then rolled over and went back to sleep lol. I thought things would start quicker than bye did so we all drive home - once DP woke up again, and mum packed herself a bag containing 1 flip flop and a pair of my brothers pants lol she seriously list the plot that night. Once home (about 2am) I decided to go to the hospital In the morning and try and sleep. I was up every 5 mins literally going to the wee. Contractions didn't start till 20 hours after waters went.
Hoping it's similar this time - minus the old bath water and mums flip flop. Would give mum time to get to me and time to get hold of DP and him get home without a panic. I also like that time where I knew baby was on the way, really let me get my head around it & get calm go out buy a car seat pack bags write birth plan and have acupuncture don't want to just suddenly get contractions for some reason I find that scary.

Anyway it's now 5am so I'm going to try & get an hour or 2s sleep in before DS wakes up otherwise I won't be able to function - although feeling wide awake so not sure that will happen Sad

ismarah · 22/06/2014 05:44

Aha, so this is what 5am looks like. Clearly the excitement yesterday has got to me as I can't sleep any more. Suspect naps upon naps today.

Auntie - tomorrow. Can your DP have a leave of compassion for a few days extra to spend with you?

mupperoon · 22/06/2014 06:06

justhayley on our HypnoBirthing course we were shown quite a few home birth videos, mainly from the US. Not only were the rooms full of birth pools, furniture, knick knacks etc, they were also full of people (husband, doula, kids, mother's parents and siblings) and even cats and dogs wandering about. I was amazed at how calm the mothers were in the midst of what I considered to be chaos... I guess they just felt at home!

I love your mum's packing skills - 1 flip flop!

BlueC2 · 22/06/2014 07:54

See I often miss the 4am club as that's about when I actually fall asleep! Shame DS wakes between 7-8am as doesn't actually give me much time to sleep!

Love your mum's packing Hayley that is classis :)

mixi yay for having a countdown!

I've got period type cramps this morning after last nights burrowing :) think partly why I didn't sleep last night was getting v excited at thought of going into labour and finally meeting baby :) Plus I've just finished sorting the nursery out so good timing. DM and DSD due to come and stay for a few days this week-whilst helpful I can't really cope with it at the moment so really hoping babu starts to come/arrives before they do!!

BlueC2 · 22/06/2014 07:55

Blush sorry for typos!

mixi82 · 22/06/2014 08:01

justhayley enjoyed that little waters story!!

ickle I did manage to get back to sleep at about 5ish but woke up just now.

When I woke, was ridiculously uncomfy/painful to sit up and get out of bed. Perhaps sleeping on side is a no-no at this stage now?? I sat on the edge of the bed with what felt like a massive tummy ache all over my bump. It was quite painful I guess but bearable. I'm ok now though, and wondered whether it was just cos of the position I was sleeping in? Getting a bit frustrated with this guess work as to what a contraction/BH is supposed to be! I'm hoping it wasn't either really in a weird way

AuntieMaggie · 22/06/2014 09:40

mixi I get some pain/discomfort when getting up now - I think it's cos baby is so big and everything needs to resettle when I change positions.

ismarah tbh I don't think DP is going to be ready to go back to work. We haven't talked about his plans but I think leaving his dad is going to be really hard and after all the running around he's had to do over there he'll need some time to relax and some space. And it will still be less than a week since she actually died. They were really close and I think it's going to hit him really hard once he's home.

AuntieMaggie · 22/06/2014 10:55

I'll apologise in advance for this lovely image... so my bump is quite high and underneath I have a wobbly bit that hangs down a bit and its a bit sore to touch like its bruised and I'm not sure why or what to do about it... any idea?
