auntie we inherited a couple of Moses basket size flat sheets with the basket but no idea where they came from. Not sure but we may have used them for swaddling in early days, or did we use the cellular blankets-not sure. But from around 6 weeks we started using baby sleeping bags and have used them ever since.

So I had a lie down and had another dizzy spell whilst lying down. Have spoken to triage again and they don't seem too concerned, just want me to keep resting, fluids up and food intake up. Also think they're heaving with dehydrated pregnant ladies so prefer me to stay home for the moment. Must say the weather is v odd today. Just wish DH's mood would improve-he's just v hard work today!

MrsA2 · 14/06/2014 16:52

Blue- that sounds unpleasant - it's really muggy and humid here too so probably just that but don't let them fob you off if you think you do need to be checked.

ismarah · 14/06/2014 17:21

Our little dog was petrified in the storm last night and kept us up till about 4am. I've just had a massive nap to try and catch up on a bit of sleep and here it's so warm with bean and pillows, I've had nothing over me and all windows wide open. Still boiling hot and probably in need of a pint of icecream water.

Seeing PIL tomorrow and for the first time I'll probably be on my crutches (which they've not seen before). MIL is lovely but she's very much about the one-upmanship, particularly about health things. (Oh I had that - to everthing ever.) So last weekend when I was struggling to get up off the sofa and she made a comment, I got a tiny little bit annoyed and snapped at her about it. She got very quiet and slightly hurt, so tomorrow should be fun. But I felt made fun of for my size and inability to move and then DH (bless, stuck in the middle) sided with her!

auntie got some flat sheets from mothercare today if that helps! Also some ridiculously expensive large muslins (£20!) But they have monkeys on and are very cute so clearly had to have them- mamas and papas white ones are £18 so not much difference!

Right hospital bag and baby hospital bag is now packed. Everything I could possibly need is bought and im sitting with swollen feet up!

ismarah hope PIL get together goes better than expected! Can live in hope!

AuntieMaggie · 14/06/2014 18:16

Thanks ickle I'll have a look at mothercare though I couldn't see cream ones on the website. Kiddicare only ddo cot size.

ismarah · 14/06/2014 19:33

I think Pramworld do sheets...at least they do way more than just prams. Mamas & Papas also do crib size sheets but I don't know how expensive they are.

Auntie we didn't bother with flat sheets for the Moses basket last time. Just used fitted sheets on te mattress and cellular blankets for baby. After a month or so we swapped to grobags

justhayley · 14/06/2014 21:34

Boots do flat sheets - and in our one anyway the also sell the Clare de lune think it's called range, which also have them at a higher price. Last time round I got some from toys r us their bedding is fairly reasonable (although still a total joke what they charge for such tiny sheets).

For those of you not on FB we have another July baby GrinGrin elliejjtiny gave birth to a gorgeous little boy yesterday. Unfortunately baby is in nicu & mum had an emcs but hopefully they both recover quickly.

Iv felt incredibly rough today. Only managed to get 3 1/2 sleep last night. Totally neglected my 2 year old until this evening. We didn't leave the house or even get dressed. Felt a bit better and more human after 6 so did an hour of singing and reading with him (I tried to be as enthusiastic as possible) and then had a bath together which he loved and made me not feel like the worlds crappiest mum. I may go to my mums for a few days tomorrow. Feel like I need a rest some decent meals and DS could benefit from not just being around his exhausted hay fevered and run down mummy Sad. Only problem is (& I know this sounds horrid) but my mums a foster career and at the moment has a 13 year old girl with her, she's nice enough but SO loud and overpowering. I need peace and looking after - times like this I really hate DPs job & the amount if time it takes him away from home Angry are their such things as baby sitters for grown ups I need one lol

ismarah · 14/06/2014 21:42

Sorry ladies, this is a TMI post.

Since March when I had a violent flu with fever, coughing leading to vomiting and diarrhea, I've had piles. Nothing major, mostly been keeping on top of the symptoms.

This afternoon when wiping after going, I noticed blood on the tissue and a bit in the bowl, but wasn't worried as I know internal hemorrhoids are common in pregnancy and that they might bleed.

Except I've just had a wee only and that was also a bloody wipe. So now I'm wondering if I've had a bloody show?? The colour is quite bright, like new blood rather than old, but it also looks somewhat mucus-y. Am 36 + 4 ish right now.

What should I do? Call hospital? There's no leak other than a bit of blood which isn't in every toilet trip. I even stuck a finger up (!) to check and it was clean, well lubricated so to speak, but no colour. No period-like pains, no back ache more than usual, no nausea or diarrhea. Confused

Auntie I get all my flat sheets from John Lewis. Their baby stuff is extremely well priced (except for the premium products, of course) and great quality.

I love using flat sheets because it helps keep baby snug in the bed and means I don't have to wash the blankets, etc, as often. I use them for our bed too so the duvet cover - which I MUST iron - doesn't need to be washed as often either. ;)

justhayley I feel you on needing a babysitter for adults! My family's in NZ so can't go see my Mum, and the in-laws live 500 miles away. Being pregnant when you have a 2-year-old is so exhausting that I feel guilty all the time for not playing with DD as much as she wants.

Actually had an energy-filled day. The house is clean for the first time in weeks! Suffering for it now, though, so hubby is buying me some Ben & Jerry's to make me feel better, especially since he has been out most nights this week, including tonight. He's a good bloke.

RebekahMacd · 14/06/2014 21:50

ismarah I'd call triage. They can give advice and ask the right questions and will probably put your mind at ease. Good luck!

AuntieMaggie · 14/06/2014 21:57

Thanks for the sheet advice - I think it might be too warm for blankets if it carries on like this...

ismarah I hope you're ok but please call and get it checked.

Ipsumlorem · 14/06/2014 21:57

Ismarah I have been suffering with piles too and they have bled at times as you describe. The other week I freaked myself out worrying incase the blood was not only coming from the rear end so nothing is tmi!

The midwife who took our nhs parentcraft class said even if you have a bloody show that labour is not necessarily imminent straight away and that it can happen a few weeks beforehand. Ive been losing 'jelly' for a few weeks but no blood in it yet. She did say there was no need to call in with a show unless your waters broke too or you had contractions etc but I know you are waiting on your c section so I suppose there wouldnt be any harm in ringing and asking a midwife if it would put your mind at ease? Smile

Ipsumlorem · 14/06/2014 22:00

Oh and I should say also may be good to get checked if you are worried it is bleeding rather than a bloody show iykwim

Collie1806 · 14/06/2014 22:23

Thanks for the advice everyone, hopefully i've not forgotten anything.

Those of you who are onto DC2 +, i've been experiencing intense lower backache all day, tried walking it off, sitting on birth ball etc and nothing seems to be helping. A friend says it could be a sign of early labour and now i'm slightly worried; 37 weeks today but I would prefer him to stay in there a little longer! Does anyone else have experience of lower back pain as an early sign of labour or might it just be the extra weight i'm carrying around! Confused

AuntieMaggie · 14/06/2014 22:33

Dammit still haven't hired tens machine! Keep forgetting.

Also have loads to do tomorrow like clean the bin and the fridge which dp would normally do... too tired though :(

justhayley · 14/06/2014 22:33

Ismarah I would give the hospital a call. It could very well be a show but that doesn't mean baby Is on the way tonight. Might be worth just making a little note of when you bleed and keep an eye on it tonight and tomorrow. Probably nothing to worry about.

So what's everyone's rules from husbands about going into labour during an England game? If mine was home not quite sure if he'd notice me giving birth on his lap if a game, England or possibly any was on lol I would def be hold to hold on until it was finished.
I'm on strict orders to text him the scores as he won't have internet access tonight. Think I'll check the score during my many many night waking and say my texts must have been delayed due to his bad signal lol.

justhayley · 14/06/2014 22:38

Collie, the day my waters broke with DS I had backache most of the day. I put it down to working 12 hours that day and shoe shopping on my lunch break. I was 35 weeks so wasn't looking for signs but it probably was one for me.
It could be a sign - your full term at 37 weeks I say that's the perfect time to give birth. I don't plan on going any longer than 37+3 Grin I may just be general pregnancy backache. I'd get some rest just encase it is labour. You won't want to go into it feeling sleepy.

Collie1806 · 14/06/2014 22:42

justhayley thanks, I kind of hope it is a sign because I am so done with being pregnant in this heat Blush but in my head i've prepared for him arriving on/after his due date so any earlier and I think i would go into shock!!

ismarah · 14/06/2014 23:00

False alarm, so to speak, (TMI!) as I discovered when I farted blood. Er. The thing I forgot to mention in earlier post was that piles have so far been external only - the blood was a new development.

So no bloody show, but instead something actually bleeding. This whole pregnancy thing is so glamourous!

Wide awake, grr! DH and I finally decided we needed to do something with our kitchen (which was left half finished by previous owners) before baby arrives so have been on a blitz today - new units from Ikea, new appliances ordered, ceiling and walls repainted. Woke up at 1am after collapsing on sofa for couple of hours earlier and have just applied another coat of paint.

Now being kept awake by rowdiness outside - two police vans have just turned up! Confused - I had completely forgotten England game was tonight!

Howly · 15/06/2014 04:05

Hi plate, I'm up too, got an upset tummy and a very wriggly baby, DH not too great either so think it may be food poisoning!! Hmm! So just up and sat next tip the open back door for air as our house feels so stuffy!

First time I've not slept through the night in months (sorry to those who are regularly awake and struggle sleeping but I'm usually out of it all night!!)

icklekid · 15/06/2014 04:12

Oh dear plate hopefully police being there means sorted quickly and you could sleep again soon

collie I think at this stage (I'm 36+3)Could read a lot of symptoms as start of labour or just late pregnancy pains! Only way to know is wait and see. ..and try and sleep! My dh says baby isn't allowed to come early due to it not fitting his work schedule Hmm then again I'm at work this week so would quite like at least a weeks maternity leave!

ismarah glad its nothing to worry about if slightly unpleasant!

hayley if I go into labour during an England game we will no doubt be home for as long as possible. ..I may be tempted to turn off the sky box some how in order to get some attention! I was born during Wimbledon final which my dad was a nightmare about apparently!

auntie they def had both white and cream £7 for 2...

Well hospital bag and baby bag both packed- hard with things like nappies/vests to know if I have way too many or nowhere near enough! Oh well will wait and see! The thought of finishing work for such a long time really starting to scare me now! I forget how much my job almost defines who I am because I spend a so much time doing it and from now on that will be replaced by being a mummy!

MrsA2 · 15/06/2014 09:06

Lovely to hear that we have baby number 2 - hope elliejjtiny is doing ok and baby is out of NICU and home as soon as possible.

Ickle I feel similar about work, so very excited about this baby and glad I can have nine months off but I've always been very driven and career focused so it's a little scary. Hasn't really hit home that I'm not going back in on Monday yet.

Really suffering with back pain. The only way I can get comfy is to lounge back on the sofa but I'm close to 38 weeks and baby hasn't engaged yet so know I'm meant to be avoiding that at all costs. Did do 20 mins on hands and knees yesterday and will try to sit on the ball a little today but doubt that compensates for a couple of hours on the sofa...

BlueC2 · 15/06/2014 10:06

Morning all. Huge congrats to Ellie really hope you and baby are doing ok- I saw one of your other threads about just wanting to get on with it all.

Well I survived the male invasion for the football last night and actually slept fairly well- albeit in the sofa after they'd all gone, just so much cooler downstairs. But this morning I feel so so exhausted. Had another dizzy spell last night so just gonna try and take it easy today.
