Posted too soon!

maggie - that sounds sore! Could it be carpal tunnel syndrom, cramp or similar? Seems really unfair when you've had such a hard time with SPD!

AuntieMaggie · 05/06/2014 11:35

itsalways doc seemed to think it was some sort of random muscle spasm thing and ruled out carpal tunnel.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 05/06/2014 11:59

Just wanted to wish MrsC good luck for this weekend! Just focus on seeing the baby, who will be fully cooked by that point.

fifi669 · 05/06/2014 12:01

I'm in so much pain! Back and hips were bad enough, then yesterday I slipped in a shop and ended up doing a semi splits manoeuvre. Lifting my leg to get into bed or even in the car is agony :(

Feeling proper sorry for myself.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 05/06/2014 12:39

oh no fifi I feel your pain but admire you for taking up gymnastics at this stage (sorry poor joke!). Please do rest and take care. Perhaps nice long bath will help???

I forgot about my bump yesterday and got stuck squeezing past my car in the car park, that hurt as well.

Acid reflux still ongoing and feel ing nervous about the baby turning on Monday.

Good luck MrsC 37 weeks is full term so baby should be fine and will get lovely and plump after the birth.

AuntieMaggie · 05/06/2014 13:00

Ouch fifi paracetamol and hot water bottle should help ease the pain a bit - if it's really bad get gp to give you codeine. If you can afford it and it still hurts in a few days an appointment with an osteopath may help - mines really eased the muscle/ligament pain between my legs which makes things easier though pelvis still hurts.

That moment you walk into the mw waiting room, realise they're running really late and wish the other women waiting would stfu...

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 05/06/2014 16:40

Oh dear Auntie, my worst nightmare...

icklekid · 05/06/2014 18:18

blue does it matter that bouncy chair isn't flat for sleeping?

maggie hope your hand pain doesn't repeat sounds horrible!

fifi I would be in agony if I'd done that! I'm waddling slowly all the time to be careful not to fall!

Wish I was small still 2cm larger than expected!

AuntieMaggie · 05/06/2014 18:27

So panic at mw - BP is now in the moderate zone which means blood tests and BP medication and due to the time of day meant panic to get all done tonight Hmm and my first 30 is weeks went so smoothly...

coco808 · 05/06/2014 19:35

thank you ladies, I will start working on that birth plan. Feel a bit guilty about asking the hospital MWs to help me with it as they always seem to be rushing around. Still waiting to hear from the community MW. I phoned and left her a message.

oh auntie that is so rubbish about the BP

BlueC2 · 05/06/2014 20:02

ickle not sure Blush but DS slept a lot in his bouncer during the day. Great as you can also bounce them gently to sleep too. We've got one of the baby bjorn bouncers and they're great! If your baby is sicky/refluxy then actually it not being flat would help with that. Not sure how much we'll be able to use the bouncer this time though with 2yr old DS hurtling around the place! I just used to take DS around the house with me in his bouncer chair-it was great! Will miss that this time as will be too worried DS going to run into the chair or sit on baby!

Somehow managed quite a productive day despite being so exhausted

all this talk of measuring large or small has reminded me my MW didn't actually measure bump on Monday?! Bit odd. When I went into hospital in labour at 40 weeks with DS all everyone kept saying to me was how small my bump was - DS was 6lb9oz so not huge but not tiny either! But people do feel the need to comment! I'm getting the 'you look small' comments again this time.

auntie hope the meds sort things out

fifi hope you're ok

mummytobejuly2014 · 05/06/2014 22:13

wow mrsc little bit scary but exciting that you'll have little one :)
kinda wish I was small. everyone is telling me im huge & all bump. hosp scan earlier in week says baby is currently 6lb. afraid how big baby will get by induction date in july. wondering if I switch back to caffeine tea & odd coke will it stop baby getting too big or is that mean of me :s
4 more working days to go, 3 of those are half days :D
super happy! planning on packing hosp bags 2mro too.
bump feels a lot heavier today & yday & trips to loo are alot more frequent&not much coming out despite drinking more. struggling to walk as baby feels like its resting on bladder non stop. trip to ikea tonight to get pine drawers for baby room & oh will add lip/frame to top so we can use as changing table. also got mattress protector for £5 & it should fit cot also

AuntieMaggie · 05/06/2014 23:07

Well no BP meds for me! Went to gp to get prescription as arranged by mw, gp checked BP and then called the assessment unit for advice (which mw had already done!) and decided that I needed to go there instead! So after being monitored for a couple of hours my BP isn't high enough for meds - yay! Not sure how being fecked around is supposed to help!

ismarah · 06/06/2014 00:19

Auntie I suppose in this instance being fecked around led to a clearer picture re your BP so no meds -> yay?

If anyone is worried about movements...turns out the cinema is pretty good for getting lots of movement out of the little bugger...quite distracting, really.

Bump has really dropped over the last few days, I suspect head is partially engaged as the frequency of needing a wee has greatly increased, as has that feeling of having a melon in my pants. So sexy.

fifi669 · 06/06/2014 00:22

An afternoon nap seemed to ease the pain. Infact I was cutting the lawn later on. I'll prob feel it tomorrow!

Good luck for tomorrow mrs !

BlueC2 · 06/06/2014 00:23

Glad you've avoided the meds auntie though sorry you had such a runaround with it all!

I can't sleep again-grrr. And DH being a pain and decided he'd leave unloading the dishwasher/sorting stuff in the kitchen until now so I can't even go downstairs and try sleeping on the sofa! So annoyed, he knows I'm struggling to sleep and that often the only way I do is by swapping between bed and the sofa!

icklekid · 06/06/2014 04:51

Oh how frustrating auntie what is the point??! As you say best possible ending though! Try not to over do it- says she who always does!

blue thats exactly the kind of thing I get frustrated at my dh for although the last time he emptied the dishwasher was...hmmm Hmm

ismarah my bump has hugely dropped too! Baby not engaged yet (phew- 2 more weeks at work would be horrible!) But bump noticeably lower!

So sadly in nct class when we were away last week we did miss the knitted boob! However that appears to be all from the breastfeeding session- apparently she (different lady running the sessiom) was very scary/preachy/judgemental and everyone felt too intimidated to ask any questions or discuss anything of use! Back to normal lady yesterday who is so normal/realistic/lovely so don't feel we missed out too much Smile - apparently a few people wondered if we'd had the baby!! Last one next week! Scary how times flying!

Woke up 4am with horrible cramp in my leg can't face hopping to bathroom in case it comes back but bursting for a wee!! (Tmi?? Apologies!)

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 06/06/2014 06:34

IsMarah, thank you! Melon in my pants, that's EXACTLY how it feels!

AuntieMaggie · 06/06/2014 08:06

Thanks ladies - they were lovely at the hospital though and it's true about being best outcome esp as I can't take the recommended med due to asthma. It was very calm there last night and the assessment unit is next to the consultant led unit I'm going to be on and there's a good kitchen there so that was nice to confirm where stuff was.

ismarah I've dropped here too in fact mw commented on it yesterday. Yes to more weeing and discomfort!

blue my dp always seems to do the dishwasher when I'm in bed!(I'm not allowed as I do it wrong!)

jasmine re:not going to hospital until 4cm dilated... I was "lucky" enough to listen to the conversations the mw was having on the phone last night - one woman had been in early labour for a few days and it was her 3rd with contractions every 20 mins... that's why they don't want you there earlier cos it can take days and unless there's a problem there's nothing they can do...

ismarah · 06/06/2014 09:18

Because of my medical complications, if I don't get an ELCS approved today with new, hopefully improved, consultant, I'm actually supposed to go to the hospital right away if I go into labour, as they're expecting me to have a quick birth.

The downside of that is that they might be wrong and although it can be scary to be home alone labouring, it is your secure, homey environment. In the hospital there will be loads of people, less privacy and so on, and you might be there for ages anyway. Waiting till you're 4cm doesn't sound half-bad, even if / especially if it might take a while. Although I wonder how you're supposed to know?! Our NCT advice was to go in when labour was 4-5 mins apart and lasting for 40-60 secs, I believe, which at least you can time.

Also Jasmine although research varies regarding the usefulness / efficacy of tens machines, there's nothing wrong with giving one a go - you can hire them from Boots and other places if you'd like.
