misskjb is your holiday in 2 weeks the one to Port Grimaud?

mrshjb · 07/09/2014 09:00

Morning! Haha glad it's not just me who laughed at beaver!!

Ooh 'next month' sounds so good misskgb!! Hope they managed to get someone for your job. Bet you're on the countdown to your holiday :)

Yep scan is on Tuesday morning binky!! Two sleeps to go and I can't wait! I'm definitely more excited than I am nervous this time. Only got 3 days in work next week and then I'm off for a week because we're going on holiday for our wedding anniversary too! That's a bit bad of your mother in law isn't it. I don't think people should really share anything about someone else's pregnancy. What have you decided to call her? If you don't mind telling us?!

Would it bother any of you if someone of us used the same name?! Probably not that likely but suppose it might happen!! I have absolutely no idea for boys names, really hoping my book gives me some inspiration if we find out we're having a boy.

I'm 19+4 today and have felt little bits of popping and a small few definite kicks I think, but it's not remotely regular or to a pattern or anything. Some people seem to say even DH can feel their baby by this point and it's getting regular. What were all of your experiences?

OP posts:
binkybunny · 07/09/2014 09:06

I don't mind telling people and we've not kept the name a secret, it's just annoying when mil decides to break our news! We've chosen Isabella Francine, hoping she looks like an Isabella or Issy as we are all quite attached to the name.

I felt first big movements back in May while DH was away so would have been about 19 - 20 weeks. DH only started feeling kicks a few weeks later. I was getting really annoyed he couldn't feel them, he still misses some of the big kicks now as he's not patient enough to sit and watch!

misskgb · 07/09/2014 09:14

No im just going to the cotswolds for one night n a day trip to wm safari park. Having a 5 day weekend with dh tho which will be nice (altho he's not too excited about the antenatal class I've booked in for us!)

I think my movements started around 16 weeks properly but everyone is different so don't worry about it! It's so magical tho. I'm really going to miss feeling her when she's here!

2 sleeps h eeek!! No I don't mind sharing names but actually don't have much of a shortlist for girls atm!!

mrsb87 · 07/09/2014 16:11

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good weekend?
Ugh my cold is still lingering, the cough is the worst thing now. Coughing with a massive bump is really uncomfortable!
h how exciting! I bet you can't asleep with excitement. I started feeling movement at about 18/19wks but I have an anterior placenta and the sonographer didn't expect me to feel anything til 22-24wks. Everyone is different though!
Names wise we have Theadora Joan for a girl or Rufus or Dylan John for a boy.
What part of the cotswolds are you going to misskgb? I'm from there originally, miss it loads!

binkybunny · 07/09/2014 23:47

misskjb that sounds lovely, our night in the Lakes was great even though I spent most of it in pain it was just so nice having one last 'just the two of us' weekends. It did make me a bit teary on the way home but then I got all excited at going away as a family Smile

binkybunny · 07/09/2014 23:49

mrsb I love your name choices! I hate coughing and sneezing as I get sharp painful headaches when I do. MW has said it's because of blocked sinuses but not much I can do about them while pregnant.

I actually have no idea mrsb.Never been before. Just found a restaurant to go to on groupon n then decided to sleep there (in a 4 poster bed which I've never done n am mega excited about!) Will find out!

Woken up all bunged up n got a headache :-( good job I have the day off! Been a busy weekend n don't feel like I've seen dh much (my fault tho). Mw tomorrow.....hopefully find out why they want to take my 28 week bloods for a third time!!!

Lolly84 · 08/09/2014 12:08

Hi Ladies

I really can't keep up so please forgive me.

H you really got me thinking about my hospital choices and have done more research. My local hosp only has midwife led. When it comes to epidurals or anything emergency relates I will be in an ambulance which scares me a bit. They say you are less likely to be in emergency situation or nee an epidural in midwife led which makes it a harder decision. In the city hospital they have both options of midwife led and consultant led so think I am going to go with that option. Will speak to midwife at next app.
Thanks for getting me thinking.

Loving the names ladies.

Had my whooping cough vaccine this morning as now 28 weeks. Thought it was fine. Hope I don't get the dead arm feeling for long got quite a long drive to and from Basingstoke tomorrow.

H I felt the baby about 21-22 weeks. Before that I thought I had bad wind lol.I too have anterior placenta. oh I am so excited for your scan. So what's your gender guess? What's DH thinking?

8 more Mondays left of work whooooop xxx

mrshjb · 09/09/2014 04:13

Glad to hear you're doing well Lolly. Everyone seems to think boy! Hopefully not too long to find out. Annoying can't sleep though! I often have spells of insomnia since being pregnant but think this is nerves/ excitement!!

Will let you all know how I get on, keep your fingers crossed for me :)

OP posts:
binkybunny · 09/09/2014 06:36

Good luck today H can't wait to find out what you're having!

Oh and pregnancy insomnia sucks Sad

Lolly84 · 09/09/2014 11:39

Everything crossed!

I had a rough night last night, had to cancel my work visit to Basingstoke. Was supposed to leave house at 5:30 but couldn't sleep until 2. Man alive!

It's the dreams too, I have had 3 vivid dreams of DH wanting to leave me. Which is irrational as we have never been so close! Xx

misskgb · 09/09/2014 12:20

Morning all (well afternoon now I suppose!) I too am not sleeping particularly well- 1 coz toilet a trip is required within the hour of 4am and 2 because of this stupid cold.

So a properly irrational moment came along yesterday with several tears. I'm not worried about the actual birth, but from nowhere, I started getting upset at the prospect of me and dh being left alone with this baby to care for that is solely our responsibility. Can we manage? Will we do it right? Will we still be happy together with a third person in the house? You know when you look after another child, the parent says next feed due at x o'clock; no dirty nappy yet today, if they cry give them this toy etc. Well we've got to figure all that out for ourselves!! Oh dear!! Sure it was a one off moment!

Mrs b- I've found out the restaurant is in Blockley if that means anything?!?!

Come on H- tell us how you got on!!!

mrshjb · 09/09/2014 13:51

Hey everyone, scan went really well, everything was perfect in the growth chart etc! It was a male sonographer and he was pretty funny and he had another bloke he was training up so he asked if I'd let him have a go at the end, so they gave me 3 free pictures to say thanks! Anyone else find the pictures much less clear at 20 weeks? Just so much going on it seemed to be much harder to take everything in! Oh and to the good stuff..... I'm team blue!! He said it was either a boy or the most unlucky girl he'd ever seen! Which might turn out to be a bit awkward if he was wrong haha!! I do have an anterior placenta as well as expected.

Thanks binky

Lolly I really feel your pain! I have had loads of insomnia since getting my BFP. I've always been a good sleeper so it's a proper killer. Hope you manage to catch up today! Vivid dreams seem to be a side affect of pregnancy don't they.

misskgb I don't blame you at all, I think being a parent is so overwhelming and such a massive responsibility it's only natural to have wobbles every now and then. Sure it'll continue once baby has arrived. But you'll do your absolute best and that's the main thing. (This is what I keep telling myself!!!)

OP posts:
Lolly84 · 09/09/2014 14:05

Wow that's awesome H!! Welcome to team blue!! How do you feel?

I was shocked at the pics the sonographer showed me of my wee fella's bits. Did they show you the whole lot? I thought they told u without showing!

Ah so exciting xx

Lolly84 · 09/09/2014 14:07

Misskgb I know what you mean, but I think it may actually be easier as you will know exactly what ur little lady will need. I found that with my niece, if I was with her the whole day I knew what she needed but being with her part of the day I was like 'what on earth does she need'!
Think it will be a natural instinct that we have never experienced before xxx

binkybunny · 09/09/2014 14:11

Yay H on your scan and for team blue! How are you feeling? Can't remember but did you have any strong boy/girl feelings?

misskjb I have been assured by my pregnancy book, mum and dh it's perfectly normal to get these feelings the further along in pregnancy you go. I've had a few complete flip out moments of deciding I don't want to be a mum or that I can't do it (birth and parenting). deep down I know it will be fine, but sometimes I just find the prospect all a bit too much.

Remember your hormones are going mental too. On Sunday I cried for an hour because we were meant to get up and go to aviemore for the day. We were both so knackered we didn't get out of bed til about 11 so it was too late. I was heartbroken as it was our last weekend we had to ourselves before edd. I got treated to waffles in Oban instead, so not a bad alternative but felt pretty pathetic at my melt down Blush.

weebairn · 09/09/2014 15:01

Hello!

37 weeks today so officially "term" and ok to have the baby at home from this point onwards, providing no complications.

I have really slowed down - hardly sleeping at all and knackered. I do have odd bursts of energy still but just so tired and whereas a few months ago 3-4 weeks would have seemed a short period of time now I just don't even know how I can keep going that long. Ah well - not like I've got any choice!

We went away to some mates for the weekend, my mum was babysitting. It was just one drink at the pub and then dinner and drinks and poker at home but I couldn't eat anything with heartburn and went to bed at about 9pm - rubbish! Didn't sleep much as they were having fun till 4am so it was all a bit knackering. Did feel suddenly better yesterday after a better night's sleep and took toddler to soft play - went down a very fast bumpy slide several times to try and bring on labour - hah, I wish! But had a stressful evening because wolfie didn't really move yesterday so had to go in to be monitored again. This is the 2nd time this pregnancy and I'm really not an anxious person - he did start moving in the waiting room and I felt like a bit of an idiot. Still glad to say all fine with heartbeat etc and they scanned me because I'd been in twice with reduced movements. Bit alarmed that s/he is already the size my last baby was at 41 weeks, but maybe scan estimates are not very accurate??? I am not prepared for a big baby, I bake small babies!!!

Shattered again this morning, my mum is up to help so she has taken toddler today but she is going tomorrow and I'm on my own till my due date then! eek. I can't even remember what it's like to be able to run around after your child properly Sad Sad Feel like a shit mother.

I feel enormous and sad and time is going very slowly… also a hormonal one, keep crying at everything. I know I should be happy to have had such a straightforward pregnancy and be having my baby very soon but it just all feels a bit endless right now.

weebairn · 09/09/2014 15:09

Congratulations helen so happy for you!! Nice to be having a boy when you're already expecting a boy, if that makes sense! Yes 12 week pictures are much clearer I think.

misskgb I think everyone has those moments! I still have those moments all the time and have no idea how I'm going to cope with two or what the best thing is to do! You find once they're here you just kind of get on with it though… my sister in law's parenting motto is "millions of people a lot stupider than you manage to parent every day" - haha. I do think it's easier with your own kid, I never know what to do with other people's.

binkybunny I have similar meltdowns. Threw a fit at boyfriend this morning because he moved in bed and I accused him of saying I was too big to fit in the bed any more (he hadn't said anything, he'd just moved) Blush
I ate the best pot of fried seafood ever in Oban, many years ago… mmmm, lovely part of the world

Aw lolly the insomnia SUCKS, I am awake from 2 or 3 most days at the moment. I found it all cleared up after birth though!! Though of course then baby wakes you up, but I didn't find that anywhere near as frustrating!

Nice to have you ladies to chat to. Sorry if I whinge too much...

mrshjb · 09/09/2014 15:13

I'm feeling really good lolly, I'm so pleased to be able to say 'he'! Haha well he paused over the boy bits, but I couldn't really make it out. DH saw he'd clocked it before the sonographer said though. To be honest I was so bursting for a wee it was hard to focus! He was being very medical jargony though for the sake of the other bloke which made it slightly less easy to ask what was going on, but it was fine :)

Binky we thought it was a boy from the offset so it was no great surprise. It's really nice to have it confirmed though. Can't believe how soon you're due! It's all so exciting :)

Sorry you're feeling shit weebairn. Did you ask them the sex when you went for your scan or have you just kind of got used to saying 'he'?! Sounds like this one is going to be bigger than your last then, hopefully that means it'll be here earlier..... Are the reduced movements because baby is bigger do you think? Glad to hear everything is ok though. Did you feel like this at the end of your last pregnancy?

OP posts:
mrshjb · 09/09/2014 15:14

Crossed post. Thanks weebairn! Yeah I know what you mean, I would have been more than happy either way though! Haha I love your sister in law's parenting motto, very true!!

OP posts:
weebairn · 09/09/2014 15:19

I don't know if they really were reduced movements. Sometimes I am very distracted all rushing around and can't remember when baby last moved, so then I get a bit worried and stop and lie down to check. And this baby is very very active almost all the time so even a couple of hours of quiet makes me twitchy. I think I was probably being overly cautious, but better safe than sorry and no harm done!! Just a tiring and stressful way to spend an afternoon and evening, luckily my mum was here to take toddler, but I wouldn't let boyfriend leave work this time and come to hospital with me I was too convinced I was just being stupid. Anyway all well!

Yeah maybe a bigger baby (though I think weight measurements from scans are not a very exact science at all) but I doubt it will come earlier. But all is well with me and baby so focus on the positives! Was I grumpy and hormonal and tired at the end of last pregnancy - yeah, I think I was Wink

So are you going to go out and buy a sea of blue now then?? Grin
One of the reasons I didn't find out the gender either time was so no one could buy me any pink or blue things, haha!

weebairn · 09/09/2014 15:24

(It's still not a big baby, just bigger than last time (she was small) - they said cord working fine and fluid levels normal, baby growth normal, and heart tracing all fine so doctor reviewed and basically told me to fuck off back to my midwife, which I am very happy to do!! Would still like to have uncomplicated home birth ideally! I know I am super-fortunate!)

mrshjb · 09/09/2014 15:36

Makes sense if you're flying around everywhere that you're not going to notice stuff the same as if you were sat about all day. I think you're too hard on yourself!

Yeah definitely better to be on the safe side and haha about the doctor, bet they get loads of women going in to get checked because it seems to be rammed down your throat a bit about monitoring movement. From what I've seen anyways!

How big was your daughter?

Nah I'm still not in any rush to buy things and I'm not going mad on the gender related stuff. Still planning a cream bedroom etc too! I think people think I'm a bit of a miserable cow because I've not bought anything yet, but it just all seems so long off it seems a bit unnecessary yet?! I'm the kind of person who will be like right this is what I need, go shopping, buy it all in one go, no fannying about etc, so I just don't see the rush! I might live to regret that though!!
