Hello all, its been weeks since I have posted but and have just read through everyones experiences and welcome to all the newbies. Still feeling sicky but not actually being sick (thank god). This time around I feel less stressed out and due to having a three year old, I have less time to obsess about my symptoms!!! I have my booking in appointment on thursday which will make me 9+6 days so hopefully I will get some information regarding pre-eclampsia that I suffered with my first LO. I have been checking my blood pressure occassionally and touch wood it has been within range. Debating on whether to have a private scan, its so tempting as its only 39 in the town where I live so might actually go for it. I hope everyone is feeling well and not too exhausted/sick/fed up :-)

TheGrinchWearsStripes · 07/07/2014 14:30

chypie I really recommend giving Action on Preeclampsia a call. They have already been helpful for me, and prompt with information. They will also set up a consultation with one of their specialists if you like - there is a whole network over the UK, including NI.

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 15:19

Blank we were trying for quite a while and everyone seemed to get pregnant apart from me, it sucks it really does but it would be better for her to know before others so she can digest info alone/cry if she needed to. People are likely to guess at wedding so it is better to tell her before then, I am sure she would be grateful of being told in advance. (Before the wedding she will also have distractions)

In regards to mood swings and emotions I snapped at dh because I wanted a lie in yesterday.....I must have been scary because I got one! And I cried giving food to the foodbank on Friday!

chypie2011 · 07/07/2014 15:49

Thank you for the information Grinch, I will definately give them a call. In my last pregnancy I had absolutely no symptoms what so ever and felt healthy but my BP and urine was telling a very different story. Hopefully as i am more informed I will know what to look out for this time and hopefully I wont get ill again Smile

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 17:54

Moan alert... I know it is because I am shattered and hormonal but does anyone get a 'what have I done?' Day. We have had my niece today and she is hard work, makes my head spin. Ds is so chilled out, auiet and a good boy, what if I have one that I find totally hard work next time? My mum said ds is thr way he is because of the way we live our lives (we are not noisy or loud....well until I have had a few drinks at a party) im just having a major wobble and dh is away for most of week so wanted to get it out so I don't implode

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 17:59

Oh and to put into context with ds his idea of a tantrum is slepping his thigh and telling me he isn't happy with me. We went toys r us to try and find something for his birthday as all he has asked for is a cake which after his party he is still thanking me for if and he wanted nothing in the whole shop.... i am going to get a terror next time aren't I?

fluffymouse · 07/07/2014 18:12

Wow memphis I am jealous. My dd has a fiery temper and knows what she wants! She is well accustomed to receiving gifts too.

She was like this from the beginning though: very active and strong willed and I think all babies have their own little personalities which they are given.

In short I don't think you can predict your next child, just be happy you have one who is so chilled out.

I think I am owed a placid baby after my dd (as much as I love her). She will not stay still.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 07/07/2014 18:19

I think this after work Memphis working with 30 4year olds I come home and think 'imagine having to sort out a baby now'! Although my friends have reassured me it's always different when they are you're own plus trying to tell OH going back for 2 days a week would be lovely after little bean!! Smile

JacktheLab · 07/07/2014 18:20

Not necessarily Memphis you might well get another laid back dc.

I feel for you though terrible twos ongoing here Confused (although ds is really quite good overall)

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 18:21

This is my worry all of my life people have said I was born opinionated and with attitude....I was hell from as far back as I can remember and I dread that I will have one like me! Ds does love being bought presents but doesn't like picking them and never asks for everything whereas growing up everyone said my middle nake should have been 'I want'

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 18:31

Littlemiss wow I don't know how you do it, i couldn't look after other peoples children, when they are naughty I just freeze because I don't know how to react to them, but yes it is totally different when they are your own.
I have been spoilt ds has never had a tantrum...he is far too lazy obviously his bad points they are he didn't sleep through until 3 and never lets me sleep past 6am. It is just a wobble, need a bit of a shake to get myself out of it!

pillowaddict · 07/07/2014 19:09

I had my first midwife appt. today - had forgotten the blood taking/pee taking aspect! Today I feel like a terrible DM because I was so knackered and a bit snappy with dd who really didn't want to have her afternoon nap! I am back to work tomorrow and dreading it, after a week off with naps every day while dd napped I am not sure how I'll cope with staying awake a whole day!

GeekyHybrid · 07/07/2014 20:53

Memphis I have a similar dread. I was hyperactive and a 'handful' as a child, even getting expelled from playgroup! Luckily OH is quiet. laid back etc.. so I'm hoping we get something that's in between. I've always joked that didn't have kids cos they might be like me but I'm not sure I was joking :-/ Fingers crossed for us both.

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 21:16

Geeky I always said the same for fear of being like me. Ds has lots of traits like dh -wakes early, goes to bed easily, laid back, quiet, likes his own company, eats well....all the things I don't do.

But dh just said on the phone he worries that ds won't have a good attention span at school, not want to learn like he was.....so I suppose we both have same worries just about different elements. Funny the things I am worrying about since being pg

freneticfox · 07/07/2014 21:25

I hope our first DC gets a nice balance of temperament. I'm a bit highly strung, I cry quite easily and have a bit of a love for adrenaline whereas DH is so laid back sometimes I wonder if he has emotions in there..

LittleMissSunshine33 · 07/07/2014 21:46

My MIL apologised the other day and said 'I'm sorry but all of Dan's (OH) childhood I wished that he would end up having a child that causes him as much grief as he did me!' Great! My OH was a bit of a trouble maker well a typical boy really so we are expecting it!! Wink

Memphisbelly · 07/07/2014 21:53

Littlemiss my mum openly said she hopes I never have a girl because she wouldn't wish me on anyone! Thanks mum! I know I was hell though. But I never dared play up at school which is my one saving grace I suppose, i thought I was naughty then dh told me what they did as teens and I was shocked.

Ticktick · 07/07/2014 21:59

Dh and I agreed we would have kids as long as they are polite and well behaved. We've put our order in, hope it gets granted, lol. :-)

blankfornames · 08/07/2014 09:11

Thanks Memphis, if all is well at our scan today, DH is going to suss out with his brother the best way to tell her.
T minus 6 hours!!

As for my order; DH has no fear, whereas I'm a scaredicat! I'd like our little one to be somewhere inbetween! I hear stories about DH as a daredevil child, no idea how MIL coped! He still has many scars to back up stories!! Shock

TheGrinchWearsStripes · 08/07/2014 09:19

I too have said to DH that we are due a quiet child who loves to sleep. He just laughed at me... Both our sets of parents are entirely unsympathetic when we talk of DS haring around like a loon all day, then waking at 5 in the morning for another onslaught. As my mother says succinctly, 'karma!'
Having said that, he is a wonderfully happy and affectionate child inbetween the tantrums who actually is very easy to look after on a practical level - eats well, gets dress without protest, brushes teeth, takes medication etc etc. His sibling can take after him in that! He gives the best hugs ever, and the learning to talk stage is just so cute. He's just non-stop!

All the best for your scan today blank

Well, the nausea started at 11:30 last night and is just beginning to let up now. Not a pleasant night. My bizarre breakfast of beef and horseradish sandwich is helping!! I really hope no one comes into my office and sees this, or the game might just be up...

JacktheLab · 08/07/2014 11:25

Oh dear!

I've just fallen asleep at my desk at work! I just closed my eyes for a minute....feel much better now though Grin

hanflan · 08/07/2014 15:21

blank hope your scan is going well!
I had my booking in appt yesterday. Midwife is lovely, said I'm very low risk so I can have a homebirth. HA! I politely declined. I love the idea but would be far too scared for my first baby, we live quite a long way from the hospital so I would just be very nervous the whole time! Many for my next baby haha.

Have decided that I want to use the midewife-led birthing centre though, it's like a spa! Each room has a birthing pool, the dads can stay overnight(!) if needed, it just looks so homely. So sort of like a homebirth, but with the comfort of knowing that specialist medical help is right down the corridor if anything should happen :)

8 weeks tomorrow and the ms is getting worse each day now. Yuck. At least it's gone by mid morning, so I feel quite lucky, so many women seem to have it far worse!

hanflan · 08/07/2014 15:51

jackthelab I'm sure I have been very close to falling asleep at my desk too. The tiredness is definitely my strongest symptom! I just can't stop sleeping and napping! Did anyone catch you?!

JacktheLab · 08/07/2014 15:55

Yes! My colleague came in and I jumped a foot in the air! I'm on hols for two weeks from sat, I foresee a few naps, will see if ds will have a sleep with me each day

JacktheLab · 08/07/2014 15:56

Oh and how's everyone getting on?

Hanflan hope you feel better soon!

Blank hope your scan goes ok?
