Can I join this group too? I'm 3 Feb 2015. Just found out I'm at 4 weeks now. I'm totally delighted and also so scared. And hot. And tired. How is everybody else getting their head around this? Especially other first-timers… Doesn't seem real! Ps. I wonder what everyone else's partners/husbands/boyfriends said? Mine was like "I did it!!!!!" :)

mrshjb · 29/05/2014 07:41

warm thanks for the welcome. When I phoned my GP they just gave me the number for the midwife department. If they don't answer again this morning I might phone the GP again. Although I have a doctors appointment next Thursday so I might just go to that and tell her!

I'm also trying to think no bleeding means everything is fine. I don't think mmc is as common as google would have you believe?!

burmama welcome did you just get your BFP this morning? It's so exciting when you see the lines isn't it! I did a FRER on the Thursday morning and then a tesco and an IC test on the Saturday just to 'confirm' it!! I did my first test at about 4.30am because I couldn't sleep, so DH was very groggy and confused but he was really pleased, gave me a hug and then went back to sleep!!!

Burmamma · 29/05/2014 07:56

Thanks so much for the welcome mrshjb Actually, I got the result on Monday just before boarding a twelve-hour flight from London to Bangkok, sitting in a loo in Heathrow! I didn't want to say it over the phone so had to wait to tell my man and just had the whole flight to mull it over and kept going to the airplane bathroom to look at my stomach. Which looks exactly the same obvs. Anyway, I did another test with him and we are all systems go now. He is so proud and happy, I am feeling way more terrified than him but based on what other people said looks like I'm not alone in that. Phew. When is everybody going to the doctor first? What's the next step? I started taking Pregnacare vitamins, is there anything else I should do?

mrshjb · 29/05/2014 08:14

Haha god that's a long way to sit and think isn't it! Like how you did the test in the airport loo. What made you test then?!!

I phoned the doctor and they gave me the number for midwife, where as it looks like some people see the doctor first and they refer to the midwife. So I reckon just phone your doctor and see what they say!

Yeah definitely scared, it's just so overwhelming I think and it's really hard to imagine that you're growing a little person right now! I find myself staring at pregnant people as well thinking wow that's going to be me in a few months!! Have you downloaded the babycenter app? It's got little bits of information each day and week highlights which I find quite nice and something to pass the time!!

Skye89 · 29/05/2014 10:46

Welcome mrshjb and burmamma and congratulations!

I'm telling my mum for that exact reason warm, if anything happens I would want her beside me. Plus it would feel good to talk to someone who has experienced it all of course!
Lovely to see a few more names, we might need to start a list soon.
I've got the baby centre app and I think it's better than most. Like that it gives you something to read everyday Smile

fraggle84 · 29/05/2014 10:49

I started the thread then forgot all
About it lol!!!

Ive been to the doctors and he did a blood test to confirm it and check my folic acid levels. Ive got my midwife booking in appointment on Wednesday which im pleased about as last time she booked my scan during the appointment!

Officially 5 weeks now :) weve told my parents but not dh's yet as with ds they told most of the family when we asked them not to!

hallo mrshjb yes, I do remember our conversation! So that must have been your conception cycle in the end? Congratulations!

mrshjb · 29/05/2014 13:18

I've told my mum, dad and sister and my best friend because I would definitely need their support if anything happened.

Fraggle i'm really jealous of your healthcare so far. I've left another message with the midwives this morning but nothing back so far!

kaladisa yep that was my conception cycle! When did you get your bfp?

kalidasa · 29/05/2014 13:36

I got a positive about 10 days ago mrs but I have these weird terrible pregnancies and had been feeling very unwell for about ten days before that so it was not a great surprise! Unfortunately I am already off work and mostly in bed. I saw one consultant last Friday and I have my booking in appointment at my local hospital's consultant clinic next Monday - not sure if I'll be seeing both a midwife and a consultant at that point or just one of them. I'm already on medication so it is all a bit complicated! I am 5w2d today and last time I got sent to A&E and admitted to hospital for the first time at 5w6d so I am quite nervous!

I've had to tell quite a lot of people because of the medical/work situation, but I have stressed that it is super early so might not work out.

I've got a couple of good apps too - they have developed a lot since I was pregnant with DS just two years ago!

Burmamma · 29/05/2014 13:47

I know mrs I was totally mental to take the test then! but I had taken so many before and just didn't really think it would be positive. Was totally expecting a neg and then, there it was! Crazy. I will download baby centre now, thanks for the tip! fraggle I'm well impressed you've already been in to doctor... Making me nervous about my frolic acid levels now too and thinking I should go... Is anyone else taking prenatal vitamins and if so which ones?

fraggle84 · 29/05/2014 14:09

Ive got multiple sclerosis so see my doctor every 4 weeks anyway for blood tests to keep a check on my b12 levels. I just left a message with the gp who added the folic acid And hcg tests to the list when I had them on weds. At our gps you only see the midwife so id ring and check before making an appointment

Oh yeah kalidasa I remember you saying that you suffered during pregnancy. Hopefully this one will be a little bit better, especially if you're already on the medication?

I'm 5w and 1/2d today. I did a test at 14/15dpo and it was a very strong positive, which makes me wonder if I'm further on then I think I am? Or do some people get strong positives from earlier on?! I googled it and I saw some really faint ones so it just made me question it!

Burmamma Haha you just don't expect to see a positive do you, it's so crazy! Did the plane journey drag? I'm still taking my seven seas conception ones because I have a month and a half's worth left. I think they say that they have everything in that I need so hopefully they'll be fine. When I eventually get to speak to a midwife I'll ask them about it though!

Fraggle ah right that makes sense then.

Welcome back fraggle Grin

ProudlymadeinSA · 29/05/2014 17:10

Hello! Please can I join too? Due 1 Feb. First time. Living overseas for a few years with work which means no family around, but luckily I've made lots of great friends here. DH and I both nervous/excited. Had horrendous symptoms last week but since then nothing. Feel great. Which of course terrifies me! Had hcg test today to confirm pregnancy - 2000 - which is in the normal range (though I know the rate rise is more important). Need to find a gynae now....

Congrats to everyone!

ProudlymadeinSA · 29/05/2014 17:13

PS in response to the earlier question, I'm taking boots pregnancy tablets. Stocked up on all that stuff on last trip to UK - it felt a lot like tempting fate at the time but everything here is more expensive and not such good quality....

kalidasa · 29/05/2014 18:08

How does pregnancy affect your MS fraggle if you don't mind me asking? (Feel free to ignore if you'd rather.) I have rheumatoid arthritis and the only good thing about pregnancy for me is that the RA almost completely disappears almost as soon as I conceive - within a few days. It's quite weird but apparently normal for autoimmune conditions. Is it similar for MS? I did have quite a bad flare a few months after the pregnancy though (also normal apparently). Amazing how it changes so much about how your body is working so quickly.

Welcome proudly and burma. I really remember doing a pregnancy test in the loos at Stansted (I think) years and years ago when I was a student and having a massive panic! It was a pretty irrational panic though I think and I definitely wasn't pregnant.

Where are you living proudly? One of my younger sisters is pregnant at the moment as well (due in late August/early September) and she emigrated to Australia a few years ago. She loves it over there but it must be a bit hard to be so far away from family, especially in a first pregnancy.

CharlieWoo · 29/05/2014 19:51

Hello.
Can I join? Due 28

Memphisbelly · 29/05/2014 20:17

Burmamma and others welcome!

Fraggle, I have a genetic condition and blood disorder that presents like MS and when I was pg last time all of my levels improved and I was very healthy!

Telling dh this time was a let down, the first time I did a test with ds I rang him wailing and he was telling me to calm and this time I wanted it to be special but we were struck down with an awful sickness bug and on the second day of it I testing, we were both so poorly we just managed a weak smile and a woohoo!

I sell knitting wool at work and all these customers were coming today for buttons for little cardi's I was all excited looking at them, ds was a summer baby...this one will be winter so all lovely blankets and winter clothes!

Burmama · 30/05/2014 05:24

Good thinking proudly I'm in the same boat, living overseas for work and this is my first pregnancy. I wasn't quite so organised as you though! I had to buy Pregnacare vitamins here and they were bloody expensive but they have made me feel much more energetic since I started taking them, so seem to be good quality… Where are you living?

kalidasa you're totally right, it is really hard not having friends and family around but I'm loving Mumsnet! Have told my family and some friends, one of them is getting married this summer and I'm a bridesmaid so I hope the dress will still fit… Anyone know how big I should expect to be at around 16 weeks? I hear different things….

memphisbelly you work in a knitting shop? That is my dream job. Especially now. Hope you and DH have kicked the bug and feeling better now! Glad to hear all levels looking good :)

Have you gotten through to a midwife yet mrs? The plane was the longest of my life, didn't get a wink of sleep. Speaking of which, has anyone else had disrupted sleeping? I feel like I'm waking up more at night now and not falling asleep as easily. Just me? Could be the heat out here.

mrshjb · 30/05/2014 07:16

No I still haven't managed to get through to them. Left another message yesterday so hopefully someone will ring me back today. Not holding my breath though!! Yeah I can imagine it really dragged! Erm I struggled a bit when I first found out, I think it was because I was thinking so many things all the time. Last couple of days I've been getting progressively more tired though so I've been doing better. I'm sure as soon as the 'pregnancy tiredness' kicks in we'll all be sleeping like logs!!

Welcome to everyone new :)

mrshjb · 30/05/2014 07:59

P.s.

mrshjb · 30/05/2014 07:59

Argh stupid phone! Meant to say p.s. is anyone else super bloated?

mrshjb · 30/05/2014 07:59

Argh stupid phone! Meant to say p.s. is anyone else super bloated?

Memphisbelly · 30/05/2014 08:36

Burmamma every one is different, google 16 weeks pregnant bump snd you will see peoples sizes, I didn't have a massive bump then but my boobs had grown to an F cup meaning all of my clothes were too tight, but then my friends stayed an A cup. I am already busting out of my bras!
I took another test last night, I was paranoid! Dh doesn't want to get his hopes up until the scan which seems so long away! I am calling docs on Monday, I should have gone this week but we have been really busy this week. Im helping a friend move house today.

Memphisbelly · 30/05/2014 08:38

Oh and regards to not sleeping I only sleep a few hours every night anyway, im hoping I start sleeping well soon insomnia is rubbish, past few nights I have been on kiddicare and things like that though to pass the time!
