When does morning sickness usually kick in? I felt a little nauseous yday but that's because I was standing in work on one spot for over an hour. As horrible as ms is, I'm worrying as I'm not really feeling anything yet (apart from massive boobs and being bloated). I'm 5.5 and am reading about all sorts of different aliments, of which I'm feeling nothing! I know I'm probably worrying unnecessarily!!

Petal7 · 24/06/2014 10:49

Morning all and thanks for the welcome! Being on here makes this pg seem a bit more real!
My morning sickness kicked in at about 6 weeks with dc1 and 2, but nearer to 8 with dc3. But it was the worst by far. I felt totally wiped out for nearly 3 months and then it was like a fog lifted.
Am 5+3 and dreading the start of ms...
This time, all I am feeling now is bloated, exhausted and needing to wee the whole time. And I may be a tad overemotional perhaps...

Petal7 · 24/06/2014 10:51

Oh and full fat coke and ready salted crisps really helped me with ms with ds1. And, bizarrely, frozen grapes and tic tacs!

angeltattoo · 24/06/2014 12:38

Lucozade and twiglets. I ate nothing else for months last time. Clutched my bottle of Lucozade on the commute to work like my life depended on it Smile

BanglesSpangles · 24/06/2014 13:07

Memphis- yes to the greasy hair!- dry shampoo is currently my friend!

At 6 weeks, I'm feeling very little on the ms front... a tiny bit queasy perhaps, but such a minimal amount that Ive convinced myself I'm imagining it. Am sort of wishing for a good old puke, cos I keep reading stuff about the links between ms (or lack thereof) and miscarriage. Im going to come to regret saying that, aren't I! Really must stop reading stuff

scummy2b · 24/06/2014 15:01

I had my 1st scan yesterday and it was a bit of a mixed blessing that they scan so early in the US. There's definitely something there and we did hear a tiny bit of a heartbeat which was a comfort, but it's measuring at 6-5 rather than the almost 8 weeks suggested by my LMP so they want me to go back in 2 weeks for another scan. The amniotic sac was also quite low and banana shaped rather than round. Anyone else had that? I didn't think anything of it until I got home and looked at pictures of similar dated scans online. Bastard Google, I should never have looked.

I think they just want me back to confirm the dates as they didn't say they had any concerns but even so the 2 weeks are going to drag! Bangles like you I almost want to be sick as it might make it feel more real.

scummy2b · 24/06/2014 15:15

On a more amusing note, my DH almost fainted when they took my blood (7 vials) Shock It's always really hard for the nurses to take so it took 3 veins and he was getting paler and clammier with each one! The nurse had to go and get him some apple juice to help him recover. God help him when it comes to labour...

Memphisbelly · 24/06/2014 15:20

Scummy2be my dh nearly fainted when I had bloods done in last labour, he had to leave the room for my epidural but was actually amazing during the labour which suprised us all. Also I had a scan a couple of weeks ago (7+2) and the fluid is a banana shape in the scan pic, it wasn't mentioned during scan, it was also same shPe for early scan with ds so is hopefully nothing to worry about.

Today I managed a jacket potato with cheese and beans and although it took an age to get down me I actually ate it...no gagging or anything!

lawyeredout82 · 24/06/2014 15:57

Scummy2b - in my scan yesterday (supposedly 7 + 3 according to LMP) the fluid was definitely banana shaped and also very small embryo (3mm) with hearbeat. I checked about 5 times with the sonographer and she said, yes, it was measuring more like 6 weeks in size but she wasn't at all worried and it all looked completely normal.

scummy2b · 24/06/2014 15:57

Thank you on both counts Memphis!

Mmmmmmm I fancy mashed potato now.

Yay for you lawyered, glad it all went ok, the journey continues and hopefully with a bit less drama for you. Memphis - well done on managing to eat 'proper' food. I do like the description by angeltattoo about the constant hangover feeling, that is most accurate, and without the pleasure of getting pished first! The ms laid off a bit today, the 2 days before that knocked me for six. I'm sure the heat doesn't help.

Being incapacitated with ms is really messing with organising our wedding - now less than 6 weeks to go and loosing whole days is not helping! Hey ho, onwards and upwards, with fingers crossed for us all, x

Memphisbelly · 24/06/2014 19:26

Geeky congrats, will your dress still fit you in 6 weeks? We got married recently thankfully fell pg on honeymoon, hope your ms passes before big day!

DoYouWannaBuildaSnowman · 24/06/2014 19:54

Hi everyone, back from 2 weeks away and catching up with this thread!

Getting back to work has been a bit of a shock to the system, I was on 2 naps a day on holiday...!

Have my first midwife appointment on Friday, I'll be 9 weeks then. Apparently in my area the midwife rings up and books your scan during that appointment so looking forward to finding out when that is :)

GeekyHybrid · 24/06/2014 20:22

Thanks Memphis, I'm hoping the dress will be OK - with the ms I'm not gaining any weight as yet and the bloating is minor so far. I've gone for a 50's style tea-length so it should carry off any appearance of a slight tum. However, as I will be 13 weeks at that point and hopefully of had my first scan I think that is when everyone will know. Well, the ladies will probably know the week before when I stay sober on my hen night!! Doing a surprise 70th birthday party for my mum in 2 weeks so planning on telling her then - it will be her first gc so I'm going to be really original and get her a 'happy birthday Grandma' card :-D

Memphisbelly · 24/06/2014 20:35

Ah thats lovely! I had a friend who's husband added it to his speech when saying thank you on behalf of his wife and himself and then told them, the whole room errupted into cheers and tears from the family (they had just started the ivf road after years of trying)

FlightofFancy · 24/06/2014 20:40

Hello all, glad to hear done of you have had good early scans.

I'm getting really bored with not telling people - I'd forgotten that this first bit really drags because you can't talk to people about it or really do anything! It's particularly annoying as several friends are pregnant and I'm dying to join in the baby talk.

I've got my booking in appointment in about 10 days when I'll be just over 9 weeks and they'll book scan then. Have been lucky not to get any sickness - i didn't with DS either. I do feel really rubbish when I'm overtired and have been struggling with suddenly getting exhausted- not ideal at work! I've had a tiny bit of pale brown discharge in the last couple of days, and while the rational bit of me has checked and it's about when my period would've been, the scaredy pregnant person bit is now over analysing ever last twinge!

thingsarelookingup · 24/06/2014 21:37

Welcome to all the new people! There seems to have been lots of people joining in the last few days. And I've been happy to see lots of people sharing my due date - 19th Feb. I think there was petal and blank and at least 1 more.

Great to hear of some good scans for a few people (sorry can't scroll back atm). And I know someone mentioned a March thread coming soon - I saw it today when I was having a nosey! We are not the newbies anymore!

Congratulations Geeky. All your plans sound lovely. And so many celebrations ahead for you Smile.

blankfornames · 25/06/2014 06:41

Yay things, roll on 19th of Feb!
Like you flight, I've been having a pale brown discharge the past two days. I've read that brown is normal, but it's quite daunting all the same. I'm not to whether get it checked out or not?? My lack of symptoms is also freaking me out. I'm 5+6 but miscarried at 6 weeks in April. I had horrendous cramping & blood was bright red back then so I know it's different.
Sorry to bring the mood down first thing.

Memphisbelly · 25/06/2014 11:13

I woke up with zero energy again, going to a friends this afternoon and have a full day alone at work tomorrow which I am dreading!

When I had my booking in she rang scan unit and got me a daye for esrly scan while I was there and said I would get a date for 12 week scan through quickly, still haven't got it, not sure if I shoulf hold out or call scan dept to see if its booked

spence24 · 25/06/2014 11:23

Hi all, a newbie adding to the ranks. Current EDD is 31st Jan at booking in appt, currently counting as 8+4, so looking at early Feb for this one.
MS has been very very mild, or not there at all, so counting myself lucky. Midwife seemed unconcerned, so have decided not to worry myself either! I've found grapes and orange juice to be easing mine - always nice when it's healthy stuff!

Petal7 · 25/06/2014 11:27

Morning all,
Definitely sharing the no energy vibe. And i feel so nauseous. Last night my dh was eating raisins and i had to leave the room as they smelled so raisiny!!
I got my 12 week scan date in the post, but have an early scan a week on Fri due to 2 previous suspected ectopics.
Hope everyone else well today.

Purpletoes · 25/06/2014 13:59

Hi everyone.

So have the no energy brought the toddler to swimming this morning and am now got for nothing! Grin

Boobs all sensitive as well. Swimming pool not good. Wink

I have a Gp appointment in Friday to get referral to midwives so hopefully can get the ball rolling for a scan date soon.
It's still so early just 5 weeks today.
Hope everyone else is good.

tonightsthekindofnight · 25/06/2014 17:07

Had an early scan today just to confirm dates. Saw two little heartbeats, yup twins!! In total shock, delighted shock. Explains why I have been so poorly!

Memphisbelly · 25/06/2014 17:13
