Zermatt, those early few weeks are awful when you feel horrible, aren't they? I was dubious when people said it got better because I didn't see how that awfulness could just go! However, I am now just over 16 weeks and my energy levels are up, I haven't been sick in about 5 days (was previously being sick every day) and a bump is starting to appear, I actually like being pregnant now! Hang in there, and avoid peppermint tea!

Zermatt · 29/05/2014 09:15

Thanks Barmy, that is so good to hear. Bet you are loving the little bump :) have you told everyone now?

I am honestly a bit surprised just how awful the early weeks can feel, I did a bit of reading on it yesterday looking for a miracle to help ease it (apart from eating little and often and resting there isn't one) and one website said that the nausea women get in early pregnancy is worse than what people going through chemo experience?! Women is hardcore.

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 09:41

No scan today! She said I could go for one but everything would probably be ok and I wouldn't get my 12 week scan so I'll just hold out until then and hope all goes ok

Zermatt · 29/05/2014 09:51

How many weeks are you now Linda? It's a very good sign that the midwife is so relaxed about it all.

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 09:56

Zermatt I'm 7 + 2 now. Midwife was really nice and reassuring, I'm going to try and relax and stop worrying now

EnglishGirlsReturned · 29/05/2014 10:24

Morning!

Sorry you're feeling rubbish Zermatt. Hopefully the ms will bugger off soon.
So if you had a scan now Linda, they wouldn't give you a 12 week one?? Thats awful if you have a reason to be concerned. But I'm glad all seems to be ok and the mw was reassuring.

sazzlehopes · 29/05/2014 10:45

poly i remember there was so much bad news on our thread from week 7-12 for lots of people. So sad, but when you think how many people are in the group the ratio of bad stuff to good is probably right. It's just not nice to hear.... However once most of us reached the 12 week mark bad news has been very rare indeed. I did have to not check in as much for a bit on my thread though as it seemed to stress me out to much and i began to have all sorts of bad mmc dreams and thoughts which wasn't helpful.

I found on this thread better - people at different stages makes it less intense somehow even with a smaller group. There is also more random chat here which i like. Less intense scrutinising over every little moment and stage.

All you poor things talking about ms I feel bad I don't seem to get it! I didn't with this one, or the last one either...but in general passing the 12/14 week stage is great and having a bump, especially when you can feel baby move is THE BEST!

Zermatt I had a friend who found out she had colon cancer when 14 weeks pregnant, kept the baby, had chemo and everything was well in the end. No how hardcore is she??!!!!! WOMEN ARE AMAZING.

linda glad bleeding has stopped and the midwife reassured you. Try and relax now, but if anything starts again I'd say go straight for that scan to check everything out x

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 11:30

English I was told last Monday at my scan I might not get my 12 week scan but because I was only 5 + 6 she said I could still get it, I think if you are over 7 weeks and get a scan and all is well you don't get the 12 week one Hmm

Sazzle if I start bleeding again I'll go straight down yo the hospital

RetroHippy · 29/05/2014 11:31

Just had a half hour nap and it's not even midday. Going back to work is going to suck so hard Sad

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 11:39

Got my wee boys nursery sports day today, he's all excited, last year he was so shy he wouldn't run infront of anyone, this year he's so confident he said he's gona wipe the floor with them all, lol

MademoiselleG · 29/05/2014 11:43

Ah phew...so glad to hear you seem better linda !

I too have been staying away from the other thread - too upsetting and I started obsessing about everything, which just isn't helpful. So I know I'm a relative newbie on the dragon bus as I joined in April only, but you guys certainly know how to make a dragon incubator feel welcome!

((Big hugs to all))

And positive vibes all round Thanks

EnglishGirlsReturned · 29/05/2014 11:47

I think thats awful Linda - I think if there is genuine reason for concern, hence the scan you should get as many as is necessary.

More brown discharge from me this morning. A reddy/brown first thing, now definitely brown and less of it. Lower back pain too. Feeling distinctly 'meh'! Got work from 1-8, think i'll be in the loo every 5 mins on crotch watch. Still go 13 days until my scan... Not feeling very positive today. Sorry to bring the mood down. I'm just shit scared. I have a few good days and then get something to worry about and I'm all doom and gloom again!

MademoiselleG · 29/05/2014 12:45

Oh no English...sorry you're feeling down and worried. These days suck. Good luck at work, let's hope you get some nice clients (or hilariously hairy fannies?!) to take your mind off the worrying!

barmybunting · 29/05/2014 12:58

English, do you need to go to work today? Wonder if a day of rest might be better for you when you are worried.

Linda, that is really odd they wouldn't give you another scan at 12 weeks. What happens if you want the NT tests etc that can only be done between about 10 and 13+6? I think that is nonsense! I am glad you are feeling more relaxed today. Your little boy sounds like he is going to love sports day! I hope you both have great fun :).

Zermatt, the bump is quite weird to see! I can only see it in certain clothing and the rest just makes me look like I have eaten too much chocolate, but I am enjoying it :). DH has taken to patting it as well which just makes me laugh every time for some reason! I am glad to see some evidence of the baby starting to appear, it is weird to know you are pregnant but nothing is visible yet! I had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and she let me listen to the heartbeat which was lovely. MS absolutely sucks. I don't think I have every felt so bad in my life, and it just seemed to go on and on. I spent a lot of my time moaning to DH or in bed to be honest! I have no idea how people cope with it if they get it all the way through their pregnancies. I hope yours disappears soon!

Sazzle, your friend sounds amazing! I am so glad all is well for her. What a thing to go through.

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 13:02

Oh English I hope you are ok. Everything seems so much easier once you have that 12 week scan, just feels like forever to get there Hmm

My home visit from the midwife (meant to be June 26th) happened today. Someone messed up at their end and sent them at 12 today instead. She said it's pretty much a dead cert that I'll get an elective cs and I'll also get extra scans because of the problems in my last pregnancy and because of my thyroid, wish i'd know that this morning and I would have talked my way into that scan Angry

broodysnoopstie · 29/05/2014 13:52

Just checking in to say glad things are looking up for you Linda and the midwife wasn't worried but agree you should be allowed extra scans if there are concerns.

I went to the doctor today to tell her I was pg and she was so happy for us and has referred me to midwives. I'm honestly surprised how bleurgh I feel, I'm just so exhausted and feeling sick constantly that and the sore boobs makes me wonder how people don't know they are upduffed!! I'm only 5weeks ish I think so got a long wait to go until the magical 12 weeks and hopefully feeling better, glad I am not alone and lots of you feel rotten too (in a nice way Thanks)

broodysnoopstie · 29/05/2014 13:56

Ps. I keep getting hot flushes where I sweat loads for about 10min but then go freezing cold, has anyone else had that?? Or do you think I'm getting a cold or something? I know my immune system is down as I've got mouth ulcers..

fancyacupoftea · 29/05/2014 15:32

Broody in my first few weeks my temperature was all over the place! I would often sweat cobs at the front of the classroom with the class wondering what on earth was wrong with me. It should even out soon though hopefully!
English sorry you're feeling down. How long to go until that follow up scan? I wish they'd check you out again beforehand!
I got my scan letter today - 23rd June. Also got my bloods back and my blood sugar was normal. Still been having the shakes and wobbles 2 hours after eating so still going to avoid big meals and just try healthy snacks.

Treaclepie19 · 29/05/2014 15:37

Sorry some of you are feeling down ladies. Sending lots of hugs and cake xxx
Remember you and your babies are the most important things in the world at the moment. Take time off work if you need to!

Starbright24 · 29/05/2014 15:38

I found the thread again. Think I must have accidentally pressed 'hide' which makes it difficult to find again Confused because it is not there!
Thanks for the link at the end of the last thread :)
Hope everyone is well.

lindamagoo · 29/05/2014 15:38

broody I had the sweats for about a week and half but it's stopped now, thank god

fancyacupoftea · 29/05/2014 16:24

Treacle! How are you?

Treaclepie19 · 29/05/2014 16:28

I'm ok thanks fancy, I'm coming to terms with trying again, getting through the days Feeling sorry for myself
I'm distracting myself knitting a baby blanket for my friend. Dreading going back to work but at leat it will pass the time til we start trying again.
Hope you're ok :) I can't resist popping in haha.

MrsGingerbread · 29/05/2014 16:53

fancy I love that pattern, I think I have that book - I'll have to have a look! (Obviously will wait for BFP to start knitting!)

How many balls of yarn will you need?

And what mm needles are you on?

fancyacupoftea · 29/05/2014 17:42

Hi mrsG! do you mean for the blanket? It's from the stitch n bitch book - it says 8 balls of 50g! Doesn't seem like it'll be enough though.
