Poly I hope you've had some good news today

MademoiselleG · 28/05/2014 13:47

And fancy : I LOVE that blanket and the wool choice too, this is going to look absolutely gorgeous! Might look into starting one...

I bought a lovely (French) book of patterns for all things baby and toddler: toys, nursery things, rattles, bibs, changing mats, bloomers, blankets, changing bag, cute trousers etc. Can't wait to get home and make it all now! There is a gorgeous crocheted blanket on there...my gran was a lacemaker, I just wish I had asked her to teach me before she passed!

MademoiselleG · 28/05/2014 13:48

Did they seem worried Linda?

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 13:56

She didn't seem overly worried. My own mw has just called aswell and she said there's a good chance that it is the polyp but to phone in the morning and checked anyway just incase

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 13:56

Get checked Smile

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 15:23

So sorry you're having another tough day Linda, I've got everything crossed for you Thanks

I finally got to speak to the right department this morning but when I first rang they started going on that of course they hadn't sorted an appointment yet, they only received the referral this morning.... But after I explained the whole saga she sorted it out straight away and the consultant is going to do my scan himself next Friday, I'll have a consultation followed by bloods, followed by an appointment with the specialist midwife. Feeling so much better now it's sorted.

fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 15:57

Thank god for that Poly! Big relief. At least this department seem to know what you're doing.

Linda I really hope the mw is right and it's nothing to worry about and just the polyp. Fingers crossed.

Well I've had an interesting day. After 24 hours of dizzyness, nausea, tiredness etc the hospital rings to tell me my blood test from yesterday shows low blood sugar and can I go back in for a retest. So went back in, the mw asked how I'm feeling and advised I change my diet - no big meals, just 6 small ones with lots and lots of fruit and veg within those meals. I've been eating really regularly though so not too sure it will work...

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 16:26

YAY Poly you finally got it sorted, what a relief for you Smile

RetroHippy · 28/05/2014 17:15

I'm snoozing and watching OBEM (series 1, I'm way behind!).

Filing up already and I've just got past the title sequence!

poly, so glad you got it sorted! Bet you can't wait till the scan now?!

linda, really hoping the midwife is right and everything is fine. Take it easy and make sure someone is looking after you.

RetroHippy · 28/05/2014 17:16

filling. I probably should be filing Hmm

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 17:40

Actually Retro DH is excited and I'm terrified. For some reason this time I'm really scared there might be something wrong, not for any real reason mind. Last time round I was just excited and the thought of anything being wrong never entered my mind. I think I just know so much more now. On the December antenatal thread there have been so many mc and mmc too. I'm hoping and praying everything is ok. To be honest I was a bit terrified when they said I'd been sent to foetal meds until I realised they hadn't actually seen me or taken any blood yet. I may relax a bit after the mid-term scan.

OP posts:
PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 17:47

Oh and I was told I'll have an extra more detailed scan at 22wks with a foetal ECG to check baby's heart and brain. I'm probably going to die of heart failure before I get to meet this little monkey.

fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 18:04

Just had a look at the Dec thread - crikey Poly, I'm not surprised you feel worried. It seems some people have had some bad news and it's really sad. Makes me realise how much could still go wrong at any stage.

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 18:50

Poly I had the more detailed scan last time, it's amazing, you can see the blood flow to and from the brain and heart and all the chambers pumping away Smile

fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 18:59

How you feeling this evening Linda?

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 19:05

Yeah, it's been a really tough couple of weeks over on that thread. It's soul destroying.

I had the detailed scan last time too but my eyes were so bad at that point I couldn't see the screen. DH and DM were amazed though.

We were so lucky last time, DS was perfectly healthy, I'm just paranoid that this time, as we've planned it, and really want it, we're just not going to be that lucky again.

I'm sure I'll feel a bit better after the scan.

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 19:16

Poly I think everything will be just fine for you and you will be able to relax after next Friday Smile

Fancy I'm ok, not as freaked out as I was earlier, still bleeding a little but it's not as bad as it was either and the pain has eased off too, so hopefully I don't have anything to worry about and it doesn't get worse overnight.

fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 19:29

Really hoping it's nothing to worry about Linda!

Got to do revision at school tomorrow - worried how I'll cope as these apparent blood sugar lows are really debilitating. I just know the hospital are going to call me tomorrow and tell me the test came back low again but with all my internet searching I can't work out what this means! Other than low blood sugar can be harmful to the baby which is really making me feel good.

lindamagoo · 28/05/2014 19:43

Just make sure you eat as often as you've been advised fancy and take things easy. Get them to explain what it all means when they phone you with the results, might put your mind at ease

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 19:56

Fancy I'm diabetic so know all about blood sugars. Lows are really common for us in the first trimester. Just eat plenty of healthy sugars, like fruit between meals. Don't worry about baby. I had a bad hypo at 11 wks last time, ambulance, unconsciousness, the lot and everything was absolutely fine. I'm having hypos everyday at the mo.

Hope you're alright Linda and that your bleeding stops soon. Fx for a polyps I'll prob never say that again!

OP posts:
PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 19:57

Sorry, Hypo = hypoglycaemia = low blood sugar.

OP posts:
fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 20:13

Thanks Linda and Poly. That is quite reassuring Poly. The midwife today said it isn't an indication of gestational diabetes as my bloods would come back high for that so I'm left wondering if it's a sign of something else but it doesn't seem to be. She did tell me to eat lots of fruit and I had to admit that I'm not a fruit person. Begrudgingly got some from tesco earlier but nearly vommed eating a banana - they're rank!!

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 20:17

I love fruit, I just can't understand what's not to like. Maybe you could sip on fruit juice. It's just as good and the sugar actually gets into your blood stream quicker. It's probably just to do with all the extra energy growing your little bean is taking up. I agree with your mw, if it was gestational diabetes you'd have high levels.

OP posts:
fancyacupoftea · 28/05/2014 20:24

Yeah she said it might have been particularly bad the past couple of days because pickle is having a growth spurt and so sucking everything out of me.
I really like some fruit but it's fancying it that's the problem. All I want now is a packet of salt and vinegar crisps but have to be good and have dried mango instead. Dried fruit I can do a lot of!

PolytheneGirl · 28/05/2014 20:27

Salt and vinegar crisps is my thing at the moment. I ate a whole tube of Pringles yesterday. I'm getting so porky! Right now though I can't get crunchy nut cornflakes out of my head! Going to have a massive bowl in a min!
