Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

This is the recipe I use btw. It makes loads though and I also found it uses too much caramel sauce for my taste so I usually make less.

Miskate · 04/06/2014 14:35

Does it solidify on the popcorn or stay gooey?

mismylinford · 04/06/2014 15:14

sorry know we've done this before how do i join the Facebook group?

Alita7 · 04/06/2014 15:15

I cannot wait to find out gender!

blamber · 04/06/2014 15:51

Miskate it's gooey but the popcorn stays nice and crisp and doesn't go soggy.

Miskate · 04/06/2014 16:11

mdmdmdmfdsdfffmmm I'll be making this tonight :)

BrandSnob · 04/06/2014 16:47

Just catching up with the thread

Welcome babybutton

I've had my marmite addiction too, as well as cheese. I couldn't get enough of toasted marmite and cheese sandwiches for a while.

Does anyone know if food aversions last for the the entire pregnancy or just a few weeks/months? Mine is chicken - can't stand the taste, smell or texture. Turkey and duck are fine though. It needs to go away soon as my food bill is through the roof will all the beef and lamb I have to keep buying, plus lunchtimes at work are hardwork. Didn't realise how much chickens there is in everything.

A little boy got on my bus today with a bag of KFC, the heaving was so bad I wanted to throw his bag out the window and squeeze his chubby fat face Angry.

Thisisimpossible · 04/06/2014 16:52

Yum yum popcorn looks DEEELICIOUS!

Ladydolly, you can start the Lazy Daisy classes whenever. My teacher said she thought it would help with my rib pain and it will also start to make sure that my muscle memory is well embedded from the start, so that when labour arrives a lot of things are already second nature.

I wouldn't call it spiritual (at least last night wasn't) It was very logically based on how the movements they do help to stretch the muscles you need for childbirth that get very right in everyday life due to our lifestyles; your soas muscle and perineum to name two. They also teach you movements to help dilation and to teach you how to work with your body. I really enjoyed last night. It was right up my street and it was nice to have 80 minutes of me time.

I found it a really positive and empowering session. I am hoping it will give me the tools to overcome my complete fear of giving birth Wink

Thisisimpossible · 04/06/2014 16:55

Lol Brandsnob! Your last paragraph gave me a proper giggle!

BrandSnob · 04/06/2014 18:21

Oh yeah, did anyone watch the show in Quads last night ITV? As much as I thought it was wonderful to have an entire ready made family in one go I've always wished for twins. I did almost shed a tear for the family for the sheer non-stop nature of it all.

The Secret Life of Babies, on straight after was lovely. So many things I don't know now I'm panickingShock. DH was gripped and made me Sky+ the repeat so he can watch it again.

Kantha · 04/06/2014 18:22

A woman who was on my MN ante natal thread for DS1 has subsequently trained as a lazy daisy teacher and a doula.

When I was expecting DS2 she recommended this book:

inamaygaskin

and I would recommend it too! Look beyond the hippy vibe. It genuinely changed my attitude to childbirth, pain, fear of pain etc.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/06/2014 18:40

Hi all I am 15wks tomorrow suffering with day n night nausea this is baby number 2 my little boy is 3 n will be 4 before baby arrives in Nov n he starts school Sept.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/06/2014 18:42

Brandsnob I saw that program on quads what lovely people - I kept shouting please someone show them how to dual feed it's a doddle once you get the knack n means two babies fed in same time as one once bigger it's harder n not so necessary as they guzzle bottles quicker.

BrandSnob · 04/06/2014 18:50

Oh no Eastmids. Quite a few ladies in here are suffering too and ended up going to the GP to get anti-sickness meds. Hopefully you're not suffering much longer.

PosyFossilsShoes · 04/06/2014 18:56

I've just finished reading Ina May Gaskin's book "Spiritual Midwifery."

It does give some very sensible advice (don't fight the pain, don't look at this as something you can't do, believe in your body type stuff) but I'd be a bit wary of her advice because she is a member of a new age cult which is devoted to smoking dope and the "spiritual teachings" of a stoned hippy called Stephen who stopped making sense somewhere around 1975.

The bit that really made me think Hmm was where she advised that you have to train your baby to "be sweet" (i.e. well behaved) if they want milk rather than screaming for it. Oh, and the strong inference throughout that if you find labour difficult it's your fault because you're resisting it and "complaining" - a culture of mother blame that starts in pregnancy and never ends.

I'd recommend it for the positive thinking and the reassurance, not so much for the science.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/06/2014 18:57

Thanks have been on meds 6wks n sometimes help sometimes not. Got midwife tomorrow SAME one I had for last pregnancy she isn't much help when asked her at 8wk booking in she just said well unless losing weight- I am you just weighed me n I told u I have lost 6kg since getting pregnant based on that so she umned n earned n then said well u could see the gp

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 04/06/2014 20:46

I saw the itv quads at Athens airport in June on our way back from honeymoon. I did wonder why they had taken abroad when so little!

barmybunting · 04/06/2014 20:55

Had a strange first experience of someone attempting to touch- or more accurately, stroke!- my bump today, it was rather weird! I have been off work ill for the last two days so today was first day back after half term. One of the TAs greeted me with a nod and an attempt to stroke bump/stomach to ask how I was feeling... I was not too impressed, my bump is still more chocolate size than baby so it feels a bit early to warrant touching!

Someone asked about joining Facebook group- send Tigsy a PM with your name so she can find you and add you on there.

BrandSnob · 04/06/2014 20:59

I thought that as well until I saw the purpose of the trip - Awww. Showing my childless naïveté here, part of me did think it may have been better if the babies were up and walking, rather than struggling with 2 massive pushchairs. I suppose trying to keep eyes on 4 busy kids could be worse.

Your midwife sounds very helpful Eastmids Wink. Definitely see your GP should be able to give you some more options.

Alita7 · 04/06/2014 20:59

18 weeks tomorrow, the past 2 weeks have flown by! just two more weeks before my scan eee!

having lots of problems with wind, burping and sometimes heart burn.

Kantha · 04/06/2014 21:34

Posy - I have read 'Spiritual Midwifery' too. I loved it if taken as an anthropological study of a 1970s commune. I wouldn't advocate giving birth on a trailer somewhere in the mid west though Wink. It's a while since I read it, but I didn't take away from it that she thinks that it is a woman's fault if you can't handle childbirth. I think her point is really about how conditioned western women are to fear childbirth; believe that their bodies are not innately able to give birth, and assume that medical intervention will be essential more often than not.

PosyFossilsShoes · 04/06/2014 21:49

Yes, I think that's definitely what she's aiming at - and the descriptions of 1970s American hospitals are awful, so I can understand her motivation for it too.

Tigsy · 04/06/2014 22:28

Just catching up with you all. After a few days of thinking I was feeling something and then concluding I was imagining it, I felt some little kicks yesterday and today- made me laugh loudly when they took me by surprise when I was sat at a conference today! So strange but amazing too! 17 + 6
