hi folks - thought we should have a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I also quite like the look of the Uppababy Vista. This is driving me nuts! I'm going to be dreaming about pushchairs tonight.

Tigsy · 02/06/2014 23:28

If we go for the pioneer we would get black, but I liked the uppababy vista in Taylor blue (basically navy!).

I found it massively overwhelming when we went to look at them- I just felt massively out of my depth and DH was next to useless, saying constantly 'yes that looks fine!'

Annarose2014 · 03/06/2014 00:09

This probably sounds daft, but we want a pram that can easily convert to a twin - we want to have another baby very soon due to my advanced decrepitude being almost 40.

I realise we might not get so lucky with conception a second time, but its as well to be prepared for two close together.

I have no idea where to start looking though!

MrsWombat · 03/06/2014 04:18

Annarose, my SIL for her first, borrowed my silver cross pram. For her second, two years later, she bought a brittax b dual with the extra seat.

www.mothercare.com/Britax-B-Dual-Pushchair/283421,default,pd.html

Now they are two and four she uses a three wheeler (not sure what brand) with a buggy board on the back which she got from a nearly new sale.

moggle · 03/06/2014 07:41

Annarose in my searching I've come across the oyster max and baby jogger city select which convert to a tandem double (one in front, one behind). The vista can add a seat for a toddler too.

Venus2 · 03/06/2014 08:41

Tigsy, I can so picture a DH saying 'yes that looks fine'. My DH was more interested in the price tags '£500 for a pram!!!!!!' He offered to program Mothercare into my Sat Nav so that I can go without him next time. He's happy as long as I'm happy but I will keep in mind that he will be using the pram too when making my choice.

TwigletFiend · 03/06/2014 09:54

Oh God, prams Confused

We had a brief glance over some in John Lewis the other day, but they're just so expensive!!! My mother bought a secondhand one from a lady on one of her medical trials the other day which she I think is secretly hoping to keep so she doesn't have to cart one in and out of the car all the time when she babysits, but I'm wondering if I can just pinch that. It's a something-or-another Loola - anyone heard of/seen one?!

I need something that will cope with our shockingly rough pavements/roads and the hills here. Quite liked the look of the Silver Cross Surf but it's quite costly. Argh!

Miskate · 03/06/2014 09:59

I've been keeping an eye on the work intranet marketplace and eBay to see if I can get either a good condition 2nd hand one, or a random bargain new one.

Anyway, it's a bit early but I managed to get this:
www.amazon.co.uk/Obaby-ZeZu-Pramette-Dotty-Lime/dp/B004KM386C

It's been well reviewed and brand new for £100.
We already have a car seat from a kindly friend, so I'm pretty chuffed.

Annarose2014 · 03/06/2014 10:34

We have been promised ones from people, but tbh I don't know if they'll materialise. Already people have been saying "Oh I must send you XYZ" but nothing so far and I'm too proud to remind them.

So have bookmarked the ones above - thanks all!

TwigletFiend · 03/06/2014 11:54

Can I also just say - because I can't shriek it in the office as I am feeling an increasing need to - that I have the ITCHIEST FUCKING NIPPLES today and I JUST WANT IT TO STOP!!! Angry Angry Angry

PosyFossilsShoes · 03/06/2014 12:14

Yeah, itchy nips are driving me mad.

I've got a meeting in Oxford Circus later on so I'm going to pop into Debenhams for some bras. I can't keep wearing just the one!

mismylinford · 03/06/2014 12:29

and bras i hate you all as soon as i walk in the door at home they are off!

BabyButton1 · 03/06/2014 12:45

Hi, I've just joined mums net...baby due November. Is this the right thread to join? I've loved reading through the threads...I'm getting very excited. Is anyone still suffering with hyperemesis? I've been in and our if hospital for 2 months with severe sickness and it's still not easing...i can't wait to start feeling great and get out looking at baby bits, I haven't been able to leave the house yet... :s

barmybunting · 03/06/2014 13:06

Welcome BabyButton! You are in the right place for our lovely Nov babies Smile. How are you coping with the HG? There is a support thread over on the pregnancy board for people suffering from it which may be helpful as a bit of support. There are a couple of people on here struggling with it. I hope you start to feel better soon!

I am very glad I ended up phoning in sick after yesterday's nonsense. I have slept for about 16 hours and feel much more human now. I have been sick a few times this morning again but nothing as bad as yesterday thanks to the medication. Will try to get back to work tomorrow and hope this is just a blip. It seems odd for ms to suddenly get so horrible again at 16 weeks though.

I am rather cross with my boss for his reaction, but I suppose it doesn't look great to be phoning in sick the first two days back after half term. I phoned last night to say I wouldn't be in today and his first comment was to snap that he hoped it wasn't morning sickness because it was a bit late for that to kick in so badly. Oh well, not much he or I can do I suppose!

Alita7 · 03/06/2014 13:14

Nipples have been itchy but not today!

Welcome baby button I hope your sickness improves!

I have decided on the zoom duo in mamas and papas, at £229 I think it's great! And Venus dp has been incredibly opinionated and interested in prams much to my shock!

Annarose2014 · 03/06/2014 13:14

I'd be ready to throttle him, barmy!

I find myself constantly looking at Crocs and Birkenstocks online! Oooh the comfiness! Did you all know that Birkenstocks now come with a soft footbed??! These are the things that excite me most these days, saddo that i am.

Amyrose82 · 03/06/2014 13:24

Just place-marking - dropped off the thread again!

BabyButton1 · 03/06/2014 13:24

I'm coping much better with the HG now, I've lost well over a stone but I'm slowly eating a little more each day...evenings are the worst. I can now keep down tablets so I've started my 6th lot called ondansetron and the nausea seems much less so fingers crossed...I'm a teacher and desperate to get back to work. Don't worry about the boss thing, my boss has been a bit annoyed about the whole thing too...and my sickness got worse at about 14 weeks and my doctor says you can have spurts of sickness up until 20 weeks so keep getting lots of rest Barmy :-) ...oh and yes...Itchy nipples non stop....think my partner has had his eyes opened to women's problems the last few months... ;-)

barmybunting · 03/06/2014 13:30

It sounds like you've had a really difficult time with the sickness BabyButton! I am glad you are able to take something for it. I hadn't realised that about ms until 20 weeks. Will be glad to get there! Is this your first baby?

I am a teacher as well, there are quite a lot of teachers on this thread. I hope your head keeps his/her thoughts to themself and you can get back to work soon!

Annarose, that made me laugh about hunting for crocs and Birkenstocks, anything is the way forward if it is comfortable at the moment I reckon!

Thisisimpossible · 03/06/2014 13:32

Hi all. Wow, so much to catch up on as usual. I have been flat out for the last few days and am welcoming a more gentle day today. It's been a long time since I spent a whole weekend working (15 hours flat out on Sunday - eeeuuugh) and I don't want to do it again in a hurry.

I am very excited as I start my new classes tonight. I know it's a bit early but I am really keen to get my muscle memory programmed so that when I'm in labour things are hopefully more automatic - that may be wishful thinking! Anyway, the classes www.thelazydaisychain.co.uk/ get great write ups and I really want something yoga-ish to do once a week. They also do post-birth classes for babies which look really fun.

Re bras, I bought 2 from M&S about 4 weeks ago which are great and fit really well but they're underwired and I am wondering if they're contributing to my rib pain so I have given in and bought a soft maternity one and gone up a back size (and it has SIX different back settings!) and the difference is remarkable. I have found that a bra extender has helped up to now with the bras that still fit. Only £4 so much less than buying a new bra.

Thanks blamber for the camelcamelcamel link - what a find!

Thisisimpossible · 03/06/2014 13:33

Oh, and welcome babybutton Smile

BabyButton1 · 03/06/2014 13:57

Yes it's not been the smoothest pregnancy...I loved the first 5 weeks I felt great and ate like a horse and then it was like a switch over night. I suppose the only plus is I've had a lot more scans just to keep an eye on baby :-) at the last one baby was properly wriggling away which distracted me from the sickness for a while. I can't wait to start feeling it move...has anyone had any movements yet?

Yes Barmy first baby and you? Ahh you're also a teacher, the joys of report writing right now ;-) that's why I need to get back to school ASAP. I'd love to say my boss has kept her thoughts to herself...but not really. How about yours? I think mine just thinks this is all just a big inconvenience especially when we are only at school for 10 or so weeks in September before maternity. Have you been given your own class still in sept Barmy? I've been taken out of the class to do SEN and cover etc. to ease the stress.

Thanks for the bra tips, think I will be heading to M&S this week as my sports bra is all that fits.

BabyButton1 · 03/06/2014 13:58

Thank you :-) Thisisimpossible

weeonion · 03/06/2014 14:08

welcome babybutton

OP posts:
barmybunting · 03/06/2014 15:06

That's good Babybutton, the extra scans will be reassuring given how awful you must be feeling! When is your next scan?

Yes, first baby for us too. And report writing... I will be glad to get them finished! That can't be easy to have to write them when you have been off, how is that supposed to work? Whenever anyone has been off on long term sick leave for whatever reason at my school, reports have always been delayed until the teacher is back or the head and whoever has been covering that class has had to write them, but I don't know if that is the same in every school. I haven't looked at mine since Friday but will try to tackle them again this weekend.
How are you feeling about doing SEN and cover from Sept? I am actually not going back in Sept, I am 30 weeks the first day of term so I am just taking maternity leave from then. It seems very early, but DH and I are moving early in the new year so I won't be able to go back to this school after mat leave anyway so it seemed sensible to just take my leave straight after the summer and avoid the commute (school is about 1 1/4 hours drive each way for me) as I don't fancy tackling that at 30+ weeks pregnant.
