www.bosombuddiesonline.co.uk/measuring-guide-c-1.html There's some info here on getting measured for a maternity bra, and nursing bras as well. I definitely think it's worth getting a twin pack of properly fitted ones, and wearing them to death.

Hello all! Wow, I've missed so much and have just had a sneaky catch-up on the whole lot now I'm back at work.

I had a lovely holiday at the spa in Spain, it was very beautiful and when Mum told them I was pregnant they upgraded my room! I ended up with a beautiful sea view from my balcony looking out over the private beach. It was amazing and the sound of the waves was just quiet enough to be relaxing rather than annoying. Bliss! Treatment-wise, I had to tell the spa personnel that I was pregnant and they altered the aromatherapy stuff to suit and said I couldn't use the Jacuzzi or sauna, but went into the salt steam room for 10 minutes (less heat than a Hammam-type steam room) and could use the hydro pool on a certain setting. Massage etc. was fine, though I found it too uncomfortable to lie on my stomach for a back massage so had face, neck, shoulders and legs done instead.

I can't for the life of me remember who is feeling what I'm afraid so a general cuddle and Cake for anyone feeling grotty. Congratulations to those who are having scans/feeling movement - nothing on either front here for a while yet, I would think. Have the start of a definite bump now, but still small enough to just pass for a bit of extra weight at the moment.

Back to work today after a week off and was feeling quite happy to get stuck back in until I got a completely unjustified bollocking. My company is owned and run by a husband and wife team who are supposed to be equal powers. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we were having my mum's old dog to stay for a week as they are away. The boss' brother brings his dog to the office four days a week, so I asked the lady boss if it would be ok to bring Libby - she's very quiet and exceptionally well behaved. Lady boss said it was fine and it would be nice to have a dog around. Got in this morning with dog in tow, settled her down and she was as good as gold, just lay under my desk without a peep. Male boss gets in half an hour later, walks into the office and stops dead. Proceeds to scream at me that it's completely inappropriate to have dog in the office and how I've completely overstepped the mark blah blah blah, ranting and raving and scaring the crap out of poor Libby, who is a timid dog anyway. I pointed out that I'd asked his wife if it was ok and she'd said yes, and she then came in and pointed out that there was already a dog in the office. Long and short of it is, they're now arguing with each other, he blames me, poor dog has had to be shuttled back home and left on her own all day, which she isn't used to at all, and I'm now feeling torn between wanting to scream and wanting to cry. Argh!

Sorry for the rant - clearly my emotions felt the need to return to the thread with a bang Grin

I want to rip my boobs off!!! they're driving me scatty!

StudyFullTime · 02/06/2014 16:42

Had my 16 week appointment this afternoon and it was fab, she listened in and baby kicked the doppler and all we could hear was baby moving and kicking the doppler. Spoke to her about a homebirth and she was really positive and said that it was becoming more popular and she gave me a few support groups to get in touch with.

Am finally getting a little bump that doesn't go away in the morning!

How's everyone else getting on?

moggle · 02/06/2014 16:50

Hello, I had my 16 wk last week but as I was actually 15+4 they wouldn't listen for a heartbeat, boo!! Apparently because before this stage, the vast majority of cases where they can't find the HB turn out fine. But she did say I could make another appointment in a few weeks if I wanted to hear it. As I have a rapidly increasing bump I probably won't bother. After eating a meal it is ridiculously enormous!!

Nearly bought a pushchair last week when I found a massive bargain on amazon, but by the time I had he chance to try it in a shop it had gone back to normal price. Ah well!

Tigsy · 02/06/2014 17:01

Twiglet glad you had a lovely holiday- sounds super relaxing- I could definitely do with one of those!
Sounds like you were back to reality with a this at work though- he sounds like a bit of an idiot! Poor dog....

Venus2 · 02/06/2014 17:37

I know this is an ongoing subject but it's an expensive and important one. What new pushchairs are people getting? Going to look at them is so overwhelming then spending an afternoon reading reviews confuses me even more.
While on the subject of shopping, where are the best places to get a nursery set in this country?

barmybunting · 02/06/2014 17:51

How is everyone doing?

Bra wise, I gave up and went to debenhams to be measured at around week 8 and bought a 2 pack of soft maternity bras which are working so far.

Prams, we have decided on the silver cross pioneer because it isn't too heavy but can do a bit of bumpy waking too.

So much for the start of term for me today, I phoned in sick this morning and have done the same for tomorrow. I woke up at 2am and then seemed to throw up every half hour until I saw the gp at 9am. She has given me anti sickness meds thankfully which seem to be easy it a bit. I thought my morning sickness had gone, but just feel horrendous.

PosyFossilsShoes · 02/06/2014 18:06

I need to go and do maternity bra shopping, I've been putting it off and living in the one bra that still fits (fortunately it dries overnight when washed!)

In terms of prams - we're doing a second-hand baby and saving the money we would have spent on Stuff to do something really cool with him / her maybe for a first birthday trip. A lot of our friends are a bit older than me and have an attic full of baby stuff, so we are now sorted for cot, Moses basket, I've been given a pile of maternity wear, cloth nappies, slings, baby bath… I'm sure we'll end up buying some things new (probably a car seat) but the rest of it - bring on the hand-me-downs!

PosyFossilsShoes · 02/06/2014 18:07

Ooh and GWS barmy - sickness is SO horrible, it just makes you feel wrung out.

moggle · 02/06/2014 18:15

Pramwise, I want something with a parent facing option and a carrycot. I think i will be walking a lot with the baby. I am currently thinking of baby jogger versa, oyster or oyster 2, or an uppababy vista. I think I'll be saving the final decision for after we move though. They are all pretty big and it would be great if we can leave it in the hall unfolded- especially when at the carrycot stage (and especially the vista with it's huge carrycot). But obviously to do this we need a place with enough space near the front door, so have to wait and see. If I can find what I want second hand, all the better; but happy to get new as well.

Alita7 · 02/06/2014 18:34

I've been getting bras on ebay due to my rapidly growing bazookas!
its cheaper on ebay :)

I also feel rough occasionally barmy, I'm 17 +4 and today I feel sick/ headachey most days I'm fine but today bleugh, not sure why, I tried not eating for a bit, eating sugar, eating bland stuff... Hmph.

BrandSnob · 02/06/2014 18:38

Get well soon Barmy

I'm glad you had a lovely holiday Twiglet, shame about your return to work.

We've put a deposit down on a Mamas & Papas Sola2 pram, carrycot, car seat etc, as I'm planning on doing lots of walking in local parks. Much more than I wanted to spend, but DH fell in love with it and said we have to have it. I think my snobby ways are rubbing off on him hehe

Telling my manager wasn't nowhere near as bad as I thought stupid me for overreacting. He was very shocked and happy. He understood not saying anything for a while considering he has 2 DCs or his own. He asked if it was planned. I lied and said no as I wasn't going tell him I've been planning my exodus for 3 years!! Wink

Polkadotscarf · 02/06/2014 18:42

I was a 32 e and now wearing a 34e or 34f depending on the shop, I do try them on though. I hate the maternity bras as they just don't seem to hold my boobs up so spoke to midwife and she said as long as the underwired bras are well fitted and don't dig in to the side of your boob then they are fine...I was sooooo happy to hear this! Comfy once again! :-)

amy83firsttimer · 02/06/2014 19:20

Yay posy for secondhand baby! Us too as DH and I are both youngest of three so his sister and my brother can't get rid of their baby stuff fast enough! I haven't seen "our" pram yet though apparently it can do lie -flat newborn stage and older sit up stage. It's called a pramette?! Mamas and papas apparently. All this is like a foreign language to me and DH? Free? Gimme!!!

blamber · 02/06/2014 19:47

Moggle, that was the versa wasn't it? I read the thread in Pushchairs. Did you try it out? I haven't had a chance yet. It's worth setting a price alert on camelcamelcamel, because if it was that cheap once it could happen again.

Tigsy · 02/06/2014 20:08

Venus the whole pram situation was stressing me out as it felt so overwhelming! Spent ages looking online at reviews before we went to see some. Haven't made a final decision yet but it's between the uppababy vista and silver cross pioneer. The vista had the best reviews but I prefer the look of the pioneer!

moggle · 02/06/2014 20:13

blamber yep it was the versa. Was really nice to push so probably would've got it if it was still on offer. However I am swayed by the bigger carrycot of the vista which should last a bit longer, and can be used instead of a Moses basket. Decisions decisions!

moggle · 02/06/2014 20:17

That canelcamelcamel website is amazing, thanks for the link blamber!!

Petal26 · 02/06/2014 20:55

Evening all!

Woke up feeling sick this morning, had my breakfast, had my anti sickness tablet, had a shower and then breakfast made a reappearance :-(
Whole school photograph this morning sooo much blusher applied, who knows what I looked like!

My bra size hasn't really increased, 36D to begin with, but I found underwired bras uncomfortable straight away.
I have got a few maternity ones from Debenhams, got them for £6 each, if you keep an eye on their sale they come up quite a lot.

Moggle We've got an Oyster from DD which we used for a year before putting it away so we could use it again (in November!) We love it, got a new colour pack (half price at the baby show) to make it feel new :-)

Managed to convince DD to have a nap with me this afternoon, she takes some persuading. Still struggling with tiredness every afternoon.

TeaNCakes · 02/06/2014 21:03

We're still pretty overwhelmed with the choice of prams/pushchairs. Went to have a look in the giant mothercare yesterday and think it's given us more questions than answers!

Had an appointment today with the obstetrician. All well (although didn't get to listen to the Butterbean Sad ) but they were running about 2 1/2 hours late, was a bit of a nightmare for staff and patients!

blamber · 02/06/2014 21:25

Study, I also have a permanent little bump now at almost 16 weeks. It's so exciting!

blamber · 02/06/2014 21:30

Moggle, yeah that site is great for getting a bargain when you're not in a rush to buy. Vista looks nice too, but is more expensive. It gets out of hand so quickly with prams! You see a nice one, but then there's that other one with those extra features that would be really useful, but that adds another £100, but might be worth it? Help! And I have only been online window shopping so far as well! The choice can ony get harder once I set foot in store!

weeonion · 02/06/2014 21:42

evening folks! i am a bit worried about stripeytoes. I havent seen her since her 12 week scan was due. Anyone seen her around?

stripey - if you are watching the thread - hope all is ok.

Tigsy, yes the Silver Cross Pioneer does look really nice. It's a shame that there aren't any reviews for it yet. At least I don't have to pick a colour as DP says he wants a black pushchair.
