hi folks - thought we should have a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hopeful - I'm 17+3 & Im not feeling anything either & also didn't feel anything with my 1st two either till much later, probably around 22-23 weeks. I thought I was feeling something a opulent of weeks ago for a few nights but must have just been tummy related so please don't let it worry you, when I finally start feeling something it was really subtle, only noticed at night when I was still and lying down & watching tv. For me i would feel like something pressed up against my stomach but from the inside pushing out & didn't get kicks till even later on.

On dates, all my dates given by scanners have been based on my LMP on a 28 day cycle. My cycles have always been 35-39 days & both babies have come within a day of the due date I gave myself according to the date I ovulated, I mentioned my longer cycle & knowing when I ovulated to scanner 1st time but she just ignored me so didnt mention 2nd or this time as never got to a point where they would need to intervene but think I would just make a decision at the time if needed, u can say no to induction if u feel strongly about it or u might be ready for them to get that baby out by then Grin

Brandsnob- I also has just gone with " wanted to let you know I'm pregnant" if u feel like giving them a reason why your letting them know later, I'd go with. " wanted to let you know I'm pregnant now I've had all my test results back" or something along those lines. But of course u don't have to give a reason for why u didnt tell them earlier, my boss is a total nightmare but she has smiled & said congratulations each time. Not sure of if she was happy but she was definitely polite to my face !

Alita7 · 01/06/2014 12:03

Maths that's great news! Very jealous of your surprise scan! I want to know now, there's no way on this earth I could do a surprise! Maths were your predictions and nub theory correct?

Brand snob walk in with a proud smile on your face and tell him your brilliant news and don't leave any room for any negativity!

Hopeful I think a lot of people don't feel anything until 20 weeks, I'm 17+3 and I know I have felt things but it's still hard to be sure what's what at times so it's possible your confusing it with something else!

Alita7 · 01/06/2014 12:17

Also used pils scales and found out I've put on about 5- 7 pounds since pregnancy. Is that normal at 17 +3?

PosyFossilsShoes · 01/06/2014 13:01

Alita that sounds reasonable particularly if you were slimmer to start with: www.babycentre.co.uk/a554810/weight-gain-in-pregnancy

5 pounds at 17 weeks is 5 weeks at 1 pound a week starting counting at week 13, which is exactly on target for people who are underweight or normal weight before pregnancy.

Miskate · 01/06/2014 13:12

I think whether you feel movement depends on loads of different factors, and it's actually very early to feel anything at all. Some women don't feel anything until 21+ weeks. You. Might have an anterior placenta, which is muffling the feeling of movement.
It is very subtle at this stage. Am finding (first baby) that sometimes I can feel small taps if I concentrate and am still, but I certainly don't feel things regularly. You might be feeling it but confusing movement for stomach rumbles?
I don't think you should worry x x

Alita7 · 01/06/2014 13:32

Posy I wasn't skinny but I wasn't over weight so yep this is probably about right :) which I'm ecstatic about really as I've totally let go of any food restrictions and am wolfing down the chocolate :p

I think my two biggest confusions when it comes to feeling movement is wind and this absolutely massive thundering pulse that I sometimes feel in my belly and can feel on the out side where ever I touch when it's noticable, usually when I'm lying down, I guess it's blood supply to the placenta. Then I can't tell if I can feel wriggles as well or not -.-

blamber · 01/06/2014 13:43

I haven't gained any weight at 15 weeks yet! Still exactly the same as before. I don't have to worry yet, right? I'm hoping for a nice growth spurt soon though!

BrandSnob · 01/06/2014 14:18

Thanks for the advice everyone. I really don't know why I'm feeling so anxious about it.
You all are right that I don't have to explain myself. My manger for the most part is a decent guy, it's the company's attitude I'm dreading as they wasn't very understanding whilst I was off sick.

I'm pretty much still the same weight although I did lose around 5lbs during the first trimester due to no appetite, so I'm back to where I started now.

I'm definitely feeling movement, just little wriggles and the odd kick/tap if I'm lying dead still. At least the kick during my scan confirmed it's not wind. Has anyone else found their baby loves one particular position? Mine is just above my right leg as that area is significantly harder than anywhere else. At first I was worried it wasn't moving, but the consultant said they're like that early on and just stay where they are comfortable.

amy83firsttimer · 01/06/2014 15:17

Posy I've pm 'd you.

Annarose2014 · 01/06/2014 16:27

Have felt the odd "birdscratch" deep inside but nothing very tangible. Am 18 wks tomorrow. But I have an anterior placenta so am not too impatient.

But the doppler has helped!

Hopeful83 · 01/06/2014 17:40

Thanks for the reassurance everyone, I feel much better now :) Think I was just having an anxious moment. I'm glad to hear other people haven't felt anything either, hopefully we all will soon. I am sure once we start getting hard kicks we will miss these peaceful days!

I haven't weighed myself but I know I have put weight on all over from how my clothes fit. Even my bras are tight, think I need to go up to a 34 from a 32 really.

Brandsnob - good luck telling your boss, I am sure it won't be as bad as you fear. I was so nervous my hands were shaking but my boss was lovely about it.

Mathssssteacher123 · 01/06/2014 20:06

Have only just started to feel movements but only when lying down and not doing anything else.
Alita- nope both wrong!! Both me and dp both had a feeling girl and nub looked more girl but there was certainly no questioning it when we were there yesterday baby was not shy haha! I'm glad I found out as we were so convinced baby was a girl I'd have been shocked when he was born now I know I'm super excited and feel like I bond by saying he etc but I did love the surprise last time when my first ds was born

barmybunting · 01/06/2014 21:02

How has the end of the weekend arrived already? I am not ready for the start of a new term tomorrow! Oh we Smile.

Just wondering if anyone has idea of any particular spa treatments/things we need to avoid during pregnancy? Google is giving me conflicting advice! DH has very sweetly booked a surprise weekend in a lovely spa hotel and asked if I would like to book anything in particular but I don't know what is ok. Do we need to avoid the sauna etc? Thanks!

Tigsy · 01/06/2014 21:32

Amy we aren't finding out, although DH is really keen to, so am hoping I don't give in to temptation at the scan. We had the downs screening though- mainly because I'm the kind of person who likes to feel as prepared as possible!

Hopeful I'm 17 + 3 and haven't felt anything either!

amylou85 · 01/06/2014 21:52

barmy I think you should absolutely avoid saunas, apparently even having a bath that makes you feel hot and sweaty and changes your skin to more pinky is n't great for baby and all advice I have heard is to avoid saunas. In fact one of my family members was saying an old fashioned way of aborting babies was to make them take a very very hot bath.

I haven't felt anything but I'm way behind all of you at 15 weeks! Although when listening to heartbeat with doppler I keep hearing a 'duff' noise like if you tap a microphone with your hand which suggests baby is kicking toward the doppler, probably telling me to bugger off!!

amy83firsttimer · 02/06/2014 06:34

17 weeks today! Can't wait for 20 week scan. Eek.

Polkadotscarf · 02/06/2014 07:38

Saunas and hot tubs ate the only things I've heard to avoid. I have a back problem so gave continued with sports massage and chiropractor since I found out. Just let them know your pregnant and the adjust oils, focus on different areas etc. sounds bliss!!

This spelling does not bode well for first day of school!

My bra situation is becoming a massive pain. .....In the chest, haw haw!

I seem to be reluctant to be measured - surely it's gonna change again throughout late pregnancy and breastfeeding? So I am just going to Primark and buying cheap things.

But I seem to be getting it wrong every time so now have four - FOUR! - dirt cheap bras that are useless.

My friend told me to buy stretchy sporty things as they expand. Have been a size 14 all my adult life so bought a 14-16. Too tight on the ribs and gave me pancake boobs! But I think the next size is 18-20 - I can't be that, surely?!

So then I bought a "sports" 2 pack in a 38 size, using the logic that my ribs must've gone from a 36 to a 38, hence the tightness. And as I was a DD before, I thought I should size down in the cups - a C perhaps? But it was a disaster - all wide and floppy and support-free. Hmm

So then I decided to go the opposite direction and buy an underwire in a 36E. It was perfect in the cups (albeit gave me sticky-out torpedo tits) but I can barely breathe with the tightness of the band!

So now am at a complete loss and am thoroughly hacked off. Confused

DH says "Stop buying those cheap things!" But am tootight deeply reluctant to spend loadsamoney on something I'll grow out of in two months!

What is everyone else doing???

Miskate · 02/06/2014 10:31

Anna - I bought a seam free, moulded cup, non underwired crop top style bra from peacocks for £6. I've lived in it since week 10 but it's just started to get a bit tight now so I'm going to go up to a medium. I am very small ordinarily (32B) so not sure how helpful that is!

BrandSnob · 02/06/2014 11:12

Anna, I bought non-wired padded t-shirt bras from m&s for £16 for a 2 pack (in the sale you can get them for £9). Although they only go up to a 38D. There is a similar range which goes larger, but I never looked at the price of those. If you want I can find them and post a link...

ladydolly · 02/06/2014 11:19

Anna I'm putting it off too. I've not bought any new ones just been wearing the 'larger' ones of my current selection. I'm normally a 36G and they don't seem to have grown much, just got 'fuller'. I think the time has come to go to a 38 but I can't bear thinking about how much I'll have to spend to get a new set now and then again once I start breast feeding. Let alone my sports bra. They're £40 and I just can't justify spending that on one that will only last a couple of month... can I?? Stupid big boobs.

If anyone does find some good maternity ones in larger sizes that don't cost the earth I'd love a link!!

BrandSnob · 02/06/2014 11:35

These are the larger sized versions of the ones I bought. 2 pack for £29.50. Sorry, I can't vouch for fit/shape etc.

amy83firsttimer · 02/06/2014 11:43

I'm normally 34d so bought Lonsdale sports bras off eBay for about £10 each in 34dd and 34e. Wishing I'd got something in a 36 but hanging on til milk comes in.

amy83firsttimer · 02/06/2014 11:45

Don't get the racer back one though, the back rides up. The strap one is good though.
