hiya all. im getting quite a bit of stretch type period pain across my little bump. midwife said if its not enough to take pain killers your then don't worry. well i hardly ever ever take them anyway and second timers felt more stretch pains then first? I've done quite a bit today... avoiding my bed rest ... damn nerves. i asked for an early scan but the midwife said im ok... would believe her if she used a doppler.

Just got some exciting news. I couldn't be happier :)

How exciting venus2!!

Hi all new here! Actually I signed up to mumsnet when I was pg with my ds in 2010. I'm due with no2 in nov after 20 months ttc - I have had the worst sickness this time round which shocked me! I had clots & bleeding from 6 wks so lots of EPAC scans, turns out I have a polyp but glad pip is ok and looking forward to taking it easy this trimester!

Venus2 · 19/05/2014 21:12

Welcome princess! Sorry to hear that you have had such a rough time. Hopefully the 2nd trimester is easier.

Twizzzy · 19/05/2014 21:22

Congratulations Venus! And welcome princess Smile
What a lot has happened over the weekend - a lot to catch up on. Thanks for all the comments on maternity clothes, very useful and I feel like I have some idea of what might be useful now.

alita7 · 19/05/2014 21:56

what's the news venus? Did you attach a pic cos I can't see them on my phone :(

Petal26 · 19/05/2014 22:00

Congratulations venus! I can't wait to find out :-)

weeonion My waters were a mystery, they disappeared, had 2/3 midwives and a doctor all have a 'feel' in hospital and try to break them with various instruments, nobody knows...

weeonion · 19/05/2014 22:27

venus - yeah! glad yr results came through and you got happy news! Grin

welcome princess

Congratulations Venus! And welcome Princess Grin

Just place-marking as I've been kicked off the thread again!

Did some big shopping at the baby show this weekend - nursery furniture and pram all sorted Grin

And finally got my combined nuchal/bloods results back - 1:100000 so really, really over the moon (and surprised as I'm over 30) with that!

Annarose2014 · 19/05/2014 22:50

mismylinford sounds like what I have: ligament pain. I'm a first timer but I doubt they're exclusive to first timers.

Bump bands help.

Greenstone · 19/05/2014 23:22

Congrats venus, welcome princess :)

My waters breaking was the first sign of labour. They broke like niagra falls as I was getting into bed around 1am. Contractions began about 30 mins later. Once the waters have gone and contractions start it's really 5th gear all the way! I was so unprepared after having read up about birth experiences and people not sure if they were in labour or not...well, there was no debate about it here! Couldn't figure out why it was so painful but midwife explained afterwards that the bag of waters provides a cushion against the baby's head grinding into your pelvis or something?

Anyway, I will have a waterproof sheet and pads at the ready this time around just in case :)

Greenstone · 19/05/2014 23:23

Is anyone else getting up to wee ALL NIGHT?

princesspoet · 20/05/2014 05:44

Thank you for the welcome! Smile

Not all night just ridiculously early!! During the day I pee a lot too!.

Venus2 · 20/05/2014 06:49

Thanks everyone. I was so excited it took ages to get to sleep. Feels even more real now that I know I have a little girl inside me. I just can't stop smiling. Feel like she needs a name soon so better start brainstorming. Has anyone got their names sorted yet?
Greenstone, I always have to pee once during the night. Pee more during the day too. Guess it's just the pressure.

mismylinford · 20/05/2014 07:15

Greenstone - god yes i have been since about 6 weeks and its very annoying. at least once some nights 2 or 3 I've tried reducing what i drink before bed.... dosnt work. i was like this last time with dd but i lived in a house with a down stairs toilet then... so i spent most nights awake. my house now has it.up stairs so i can manage to stumble there and back and get to back to sleep easy. just another wonderful pregnancy thing

ladydolly · 20/05/2014 07:59

I've always had to pee at least once in the night but now it's at least twice if not 3 times. I get back to sleep but I'm always awake from about 4 or 5 in the morning. Yesterday I was out on the balcony planting herbs at 5am... at least I'm being productive with my time! Also means I'm getting to the gym every day as soon as it opens. But by 8pm I'm struggling to keep my eyes open...

Baby names, we have a girls name sorted but we can't find any common ground for a boys name... not one and we've been talking about it since I was 6 weeks... I'm starting to get a bit worried!

amy83firsttimer · 20/05/2014 08:36

We've had boy's name sorted for about 5 years but no firm choice of girl's name. Not finding out the sex but really hoping for a boy if only for that reason!

alita7 · 20/05/2014 08:47

I am also up to wee 3-4 times a night but that's better than 1 St trimester, it was up to 8 times!!!

DP prefers not to choose names until the baby is born and we can see what they look like. But we have an unconvincing shortlist of boys names and a definite favourite girls name, which came to me randomly while sat on the sofa when we thought we'd exhausted all avenues and now he is set on it :)

Does anyone else have a scarily intuitive dp? he just 'knows' things about the baby! Before we had the early scan he been touching the left side of my belly with me stupidly being like but babies are in the middle (and what if it's ectopic as I had pain there and spotting) and turned out babies on the left and at my 12 week scan she had the scanner on the left the whole time. And last night I was listening on my doppler while he was in the living room and I was in the bedroom and hb was on the right for the first time ever so baby must have swam over, I later went into the living room and he reached out and rubbed the right side when he always grabs the left!... how did he know???

PosyFossilsShoes · 20/05/2014 09:06

Yes Alita mine does that. She knew when I was pregnant (I was convinced it hadn't worked again and she reckoned she just knew I was) and she knew which side bean had bedded down on. I haven't asked her to predict girl / boy yet but if she gets that right I'll make her do a lottery ticket too Grin

Names on the other hand…. I think she thinks she's naming a gerbil. So far this morning it's going to be called Aethelwulf Clement Isambard. Hmm

weeonion · 20/05/2014 09:31

Morning all!!!

We have a long holiday weekend approaching so only 2 days at work this week - hooray. Then we're off to ireland to tell the folks. DD is having the pleasure of that. we havent told anyone we're arriving so it'll be 2 surprises for them!

Up to wee - about 3 times a night now. heading off camping with DD's school next week so have been seeking MN advise on how to manage the joyful prospect of nocturnal micturation Grin

with DD - by the end, i was up and down all night to the loo.

Thanks for waters breaking stories - i used to dread mine going whilst i was on my commute to work.

TeaNCakes · 20/05/2014 09:33

We're having trouble on the name front. There aren't many we agree on, especially boys names, and my cousin has just called her son our favourite name, argh! Back to the drawing board....

weeonion · 20/05/2014 09:34

posy - quite like Aethelwulf Clement Isambard. Grin

DD fancies gandalf, obi-wan or charlie for a boy and Airwyen, leah or cornelia for a girl. hmmmmmm - more discussion methinks!

Less than 3 weeks til next big scan!!

OP posts:
mismylinford · 20/05/2014 10:04

names... after a loooong discussion we have a boys name... mainly it was me saying a name and dh said... NO! finally i gave up and.asked him what he liked and i liked it too.

we dont have a girls name... i think its because i am.convinced its a boy (wouldn't be upset if it was a girl though)
was the same with dd no doubt she was a girl and only had a girls name chosen.

StudyFullTime · 20/05/2014 10:14

At the moment we are stuck with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee courtesy of DS! As we're convinced this is a girl we have a few girls names but can't really decide, I'm sure he or she will be named at some point!
