weeonion How did your DD take the news?

Im hating the heat, seriously hot and nothing cool to wear Sad

WinterLover · 18/05/2014 07:57

My last birth I was all set for a water birth, walking around, keeping active etc until he decided to come at 36weeks. All I was allowed to do was sit on the fecking bed, was horrid. Everytime I asked if I could have a walk around the room I got told no you need to be monitored.

I was in absolute panic and shock that he was early, had midwife, NICU staff and a consultant spending most of my 11 hours labour with me.

Im hoping this time (fingers crossed) to labour at home as long as possible, then go into hospital for a water birth. Whether that actually happens is another matter Grin

BrandSnob · 18/05/2014 08:02

I really share your frustrations mumonabroom, it's annoying to keep on justifying yourself. All the facts are right there in the notes, just read them!

My consultant told me I'm having an elective CS at my 8 week appointment, which wasn't a surprise as I'd done my research. When I call and speak to the midwives I'm told that I should be going down the assisted delivery (not sure if that's the right term), despite being high risk. When I explain AGAIN about the risks, the tone changes so quickly.

WheresMrMonkey · 18/05/2014 10:24

Anyone had any lower jaw ache? Googled (of course!) and seems a lot of pregnant women do get it, but not much medical links that I can find anyway?

Polkadotscarf · 18/05/2014 10:28

I'm 15+5 and have the tiniest of bumps quite low down which seems to have pushed the usual fat up making quite a nice 'baby ' bump! Have given up in usual trousers and living in leggings and tunics or dresses. May go and get some maternity style clothes in half term but feel a bit of a fraud with no visible bump!

PosyFossilsShoes · 18/05/2014 11:42

I'm 14+6 and no visible bump. DP tried to photograph it yesterday but the teeeeeeny bump you can see if you are actually standing next to me (and you know what my body shape was pre-preg) doesn't translate to the camera!

Annarose2014 · 18/05/2014 13:28

I've 16wks tomorrow and several of my patients have told me to be careful "in your condition". So its plain to everyone now!
I've definitely popped a bit in the last week and its surreal to look properly pregnant after all the bloatedness and lardiness.
I'm enjoying it! Starting to feel.less like a fraud now! Yes, I'm legitimately pregnant! !!

Annarose2014 · 18/05/2014 13:33

Apropos of nothing: even though the nausea is gone, am really struggling to keep my dinner down this week. Two of my patients have infectious diarrhoea and another has a stoma bag that is really really REALLY malodorous (& fills up every hour! ). Another patient exploded all over the sheets this morning.

5 more months of this!!! Christ!

weeonion · 18/05/2014 15:52

Afternoon all!!

Petal26 - that was indeed an epic shopping trip! you sound pretty much sorted!

mismylinford - glad you had a fab trip Smile
annarose - are you working right / close to due date? that all sounds a bit grim.

we told dd last night Grin

i had a bag with rainbow striped bibs and striped new born socks. Presented it to her to which she was ooohing and aahing before looking a bit puzzled. i gave her the scan pics and asked did she know what they were of. she immediately said a baby and a HUGE grin spread over her wee face and with tears in her eyes, she said "oh my gosh - you ARE having a baby!!!"
She was so so happy and pleased, fizzing with excitement. Full of questions and queries but v positive. She has decided she wants to share her room with it, wants her own wrap to baby wear and has all sorts of plans and ideas as to what she wants to do. This morning she came into our bed and sleepily rubbed my tummy saying "morning baby". She then lay and read poems to it with her head on my tummy and keeps touching my tummy today and smiling.
we couldnt have asked for a better response tbh. she is just a fab kid all round, here's hoping her sibling will be too Grin

homebirth midwife came for home visit before 9am today. she was lovely - very positive, calm and down to earth. i felt "safe" with her and went through it all and what would happen in an emergency (we are only 5 minutes from local maternity unit so as she said - it would take no longer to get me there if emergency c section needed than it would be to transfer from the midwife unit).

feeling good today.
hope you all are too. Smile

Aw that's lovely onion, my dsd is like that, she keeps cuddling my belly :)

We had a lovely picnic in the park today, it's a bit hot though :p

Loaf99 · 18/05/2014 19:10

What are the deets for the Facebook link again please?

Tigsy · 18/05/2014 19:21

Loaf send me a message. I need to add you as a friend on Facebook first as it will only let me add you to the group from my friends list for some reason. Message me with your details so I can find you [Smile]

Blamber sorry somehow I missed your message for a few days but have replied now and tried to add you!

Had a lovely day in the sun but itching is a big problem for me at the moment and the heat seemed to make it much worse. With DH telling me off for scratching, took me back to bring little and having chickenpox and my mum telling me off for scratching!

pinkgirlythoughts · 18/05/2014 19:35

Aww, weeonion, that's so lovely!

Just been putting DS to bed, and when I was laid cuddling him I could feel this funny gentle 'buzzing' feeling low down in my tummy- would sort of describe it as like bubbles popping. Totally different to how the first flutters felt with DS- they were more like little wings fluttering -but I felt exactly the same feeling last night when I was doing the bedtime routine. Wondering if these are the first little movements, but then I'm only 14 +2, so surely a little early, even for a second baby?

Hopeful83 · 18/05/2014 21:05

Haven't got time to read all the posts atm but am just marking my place as I seem to have been dropped off the thread again. Hope everyone is well

Annarose2014 · 18/05/2014 21:28

weeonion I'm going to be finishing up by 32 weeks. Thats if I last. What a day. Just in the door now and I left at 6.45am this morning. My poor feet are on fire. Nursing on a public medical ward is no job for a pregnant woman.

Now into the shower to get the smell of it all out of my nose.......

weeonion · 18/05/2014 21:49

oh god - annarose - that is a tough call. DP nurses on a medical ward and I know how much it takes out of him. cant imagine doing it pg ....

pinkgirly - my first flutters were around that time too so dont rule it out!
Smile

Oh should say - my mw today did stress that whilst EDD is a date that we focus on - to be prepared and ready for labour from 36 weeks!!
gulp - end of sept onwards then........... suddenly it all seems a heck of alot closer....

Mumonabroom · 18/05/2014 21:53

BrandSnob yes! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Had all this last time. This time I'm remaining firm and standing my ground.

WinterLover · 19/05/2014 03:24

Typical, DP starts new job today, im due back at work after they cut my hours and yet I've managed 2 hours sleep tonight! Been awake since 2am Sad Chances of me getting back to sleep. ..0 because im too hot and the birds have now started chirping! !

WinterLover · 19/05/2014 06:17

Fell asleep about 4am, woke up just before 6am Sad feel do dizzy and horrible

WheresMrMonkey · 19/05/2014 07:35

Oh winter nothing worse than not sleeping.. Hate it, darn dog feeling the heat and kept waking us from the very early hours

Spannertime · 19/05/2014 07:54

I know the sun is lovely but I do like a spot of heavy rain. I find it relaxing.

AussieGoingHomeSoon · 19/05/2014 08:17

Off to work on my 1st day back at work Hmmkeep my day interesting ladies !! Lots of funny stories needed !

TwigletFiend · 19/05/2014 08:46

Good morning all! Hope everyone's had a good weekend. For those feeling the heat here in the UK, just hold out for the rest of today and we're due a cooler spell for the rest of the week.

I had a very unproductive weekend - most strenuous activity I managed was giving my filthy pony a good scrub and a tidy up. As I was trimming his tail it suddenly occurred to me that his hair gets much more regular attention than mine and am now debating hair cuts. I went from waist-length hair to a pixie crop in one go last summer and it's grown out into this chin-length mop now - horribly flat and boring. But do I trim it and let it grow or chop it all off again?!

Good luck at work today Aussie, hope it flies by for you. I'm not looking forward to work this week as feeling very lethargic this morning, but needs must!

Anna, the smell of DP's farts sometimes makes me gag, so I have enormous respect for you. Don't know how you're coping, you wonderful woman!

weeonion, that's adorable Grin What a lovely introduction to having a baby in the family for your DD. She'll be so excited once she can feel it kick etc.

I was 14 weeks yesterday and still unsure whether the little bump I've got is baby or bloat. On the one hand, it's no longer disappearing in the mornings. On the other, it's still very squidgy. Hmm.

As to maternity clothes, I've been in leggings and harem pants for three weeks now! Had terrible, terrible bloat (am usually a size 10 and that's only due to wide hips - my waist and stomach are a comfortable 8) so I rocketed up to wearing size 12 trousers in the space of less than a week because my belly got so tender and round! But I also have skinny stick legs, so I looked a bit ridiculous with swathes of extra material flapping around my calves. Stretchy waistbands have become my new best friend now Grin

mismylinford · 19/05/2014 09:03

morning all.
with dd i had a natural birth no pain relief just a tense machine in the main hospital in my area. could fault the staff they were amazing and couldn't thank the midwifes enough, how ever the other mothers in there...wwa mainly like being on the sortnof Jeremy Kyle... the woman who i was stuck with was from a really rough area and the previous night had threaten me. she was on the phone to her husband all morning swearing as he wanted to go to the pub so she had to go home and look after her other 5 children.... after the euphoria of birth having a swearing mother in the same room as me was not pleasant. once she left a polish lady came with her new born... she spent the whole time crying hysterically.... so with this one i hope to have a home birth as i want the time with my baby not in the same room as another mother i felt like my special time had been ruined.

blamber · 19/05/2014 09:10

I am loving the warm weather! It's my day off, so I'll be spending some more time in the garden today before it turns cloudy and rainy again.

I also have my 12-week scan today.... so nervous!

Tigsy, thanks, I saw your email just now!
