Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Hiya all,

Not as organised as some. No birth plan yet and no packed bag, - but I thought I'd wait until I'd had some classes to help with the decisions.

Just had a MW apptmnt and was told that the baby is lying back to back, - which (if it doesn't change) will mean a long labour with back pain, and the urge to push too early increasing the chance of tearing. I'm now terrified! Why do they tell you these things- it's not as if I can tell the baby to move round!!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Saralou: - I didn't understand your post about the birth plan. Did you say you weren't allowing any shoes in the room, - especially not doctors'?

saralou100 · 19/09/2006 08:14

ds has been up since 5.30 bouncing off the walls.. he truely is nuts and i'm exhausted now!

bethbe - pmsl!!! shoes wouldn't be a good idea in delivery room i'm sure!! but what i meant was no sho's (senoiur house officers) their juniour dr's, but my reason for this is that i work with them quite closely and i don't want them looking at my lady bits really.. particularly dr antony (who is gorgeous - a greek god) in an ideal world the only dr i would like would be my consultant, who already delivered ds and has therefore seen ladybits (and seen me poo) in an even more ideal world no dr's needed at all!!

also honey don't worry yourself too much about baby lying back to back.. ds was lying this way when i delivered him... my labour lasted a whole 5 hrs!! i did feel the contractions in my back a bit more and he got sucked out with ventousse to help, but it wasn't a horrific birth at all.. you can try to help baby move by sitting in better positions.. no slouching on the sofa, try sitting the wrong way round on a dining room chair so your leaning against the backrest and laying on your left side, ask your midwife about these aswell (rather than having her scare you with horror stories!!)

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 08:50

I finally got my backside into gear last night and fully constructed my travel system ! Took an hour but it's all there and looking lovely in my neighbours bedroom ! We have taken the car seat and base unit out and that is now at home, we had a go a fitting it in the car last night and it only fits in the front seat so I have been relegated to the backseat when LO is born !!

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 09:17

Oh and still not packed a bag, DP keeps nagging me to do it but it means me getting the iron out !

NatalieJane · 19/09/2006 09:36

Debz, might be stating the obvious, but check that any airbag is either switched off or disconected.

And LMAO at the shoe's/SHO's thing, I thought it was a typo as well

LeBe · 19/09/2006 09:37

Morning everyone

Well i finally got my swinging chair last night, they were really good about it actually and we got anice nature one that plays music and has flashing lights and animal sounds. Was also mighty impressed when i got it home and it was already assembled, it is a travel one so folds down like a deckchair - very handy.

NJ - Sounds like your nearly there with the nursery, well done would you like to come and sort mine?

Charlee - Glad your ds was ok and very sorry you have to wait until the end of Oct for results they really do take their time dont they and dont help put your mind at rest.

Stacey - Im sorry about what happened to you, hope i didnt pressure you into telling by going on.Also glad you didnt start early!!

Bethbe - Have you had your classes yet? because when i went they gave us excercises and different ways to sit to help the baby move round if they are back to back and i agree ask your mw xx

HopingCat · 19/09/2006 09:40

Bethbe - I'm sure I've read a thread recently on back to back labours. It was in the pregnancy section. My friend had this with her first and was advised to spend time on a gym ball both before and during labour. If you sit with your weight forward on the ball and legs wide apart you are giving the baby as much room as possible to move around, whereas if you slouch in your chair your backbone is like a hammock for the baby and they get too comfy. Apparently a lot of babies turn as you go into labour so you may not have a back to back delivery.

saralou100 · 19/09/2006 09:43

must remember - no medical terms... if you lot were nurses you'd get me!! you must have all thought i'd proper lost the plot not wanting to wear shoes!!!! pg brain gone mad!!!

might throw some more confusing terms your way just for my own amusement.....

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 09:53

NJ thanks for the tip however our car is too old for air bags !!!!

NatalieJane · 19/09/2006 10:04

LOL SaraLou, I have actually heard the no shoe's thing before, think I read something about it when I was pregnant with DS, it was this woman who was obsessed with dirt, everyone in the delivery suite had to have masks/gloves/gowns/hair nets etc. she wanted it clinacally clean.

Debz, I don't know if it helps but if it is the length of the seat belts in the back preventing the seat fitting, you can have seatbelt extentions fitted at a garage, I think it only costs about £40 but don't know for sure.

Thanks MyGirl, my iron was checked when I had my diabetes test at the beginning of the month and they were fine then. I think, not that I like to admit it but, I think I just pushed it too hard that day, we had been decorating/fitting the skirting boards, as I said I literally can't seem to stop sweating, and the more DH kept telling me to sit down for a bit and rest the more I kept going LOL I am a stubborn mare when I want to be!! LOL

LOL I just remembered something I meant to tell you all yesterday, this is how bad my pregnancy brain has gotten.

I was in town yesterday morning, walking through the arcade and I saw a sign in a shop window asking for a part time help leading up to Christmas, and it went through my head that I should ask how part time the job would be, and if I could do it whilst DS was at school it would give me something to do with myself, it didn't even once cross my mind that no one would give a 7/8 month pregnant woman a job, or that by Christmas I would have plenty to do with my time.... I actually made it into the shop before it clicked!

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 10:40

NJ it's not the seatbelt, its the car, we have an old style fiesta and cos we bought one of these base units that stay fitted in the car and the seat just cips on top it's all just too big and bulky, the front passenger seat has to be pushed right up and the back rest completley upright so unless I was a small person (in height and weight) I would not fit !!!! so back seat it is for me !

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 10:42

Oh and dont worry about the pregnancy brain NJ I tried to walk down a grass bank instead of using the path and slipped on my backside when I was about 6 and a half months pregnant ! I truly forgot I was pregnant !

LeBe · 19/09/2006 11:06

Ohh i really like the stories about pg brain they really make me chuckle, im trying to think of mine but there are too many to remember but the funniest one was when my friend was sat crying and bent down to talk to her and forgot about the weight issue and fell on my arse - cheered her up tho! I also forget about being pg and when he moves i think oh ive got wind!

As for pg symptoms, im having problems catching my breath, and my hips are killing me all night and every morning until i start moving around, does anyone else feel like they are getting the flu, i feel really achy like ive ran a marathon but dont know if i am actually coming down with somethibg or not? Also really got the light headedness its a bit scary!! x

staceym11 · 19/09/2006 11:13

Im so glad we changed our car now im pg again or i would be in the back seat as old car the seat belts werent long enough for rearward facing car seats (and only realised after changing car if id put dds fwd facing one in right it wouldnt have fit)

well had great fun with fainting this morning, went really very dizzy and had to sit down in the middle of the path then drag my dd back home as i told her we were going swimming but obv didnt make it. feel so useless as this poor child has barely done anything these last few weeks, im just so uncomfortable/tired/dizzy/exhausted that i cant do anything as i dont drive so getting anywhere is a major effort!

on a brighter note my little boy had hiccups last night and this morning!! i could feel this regular tiny movements and thought 'that must be his heartbeat' then realised that it was way too slow and remembered the feeling from dd! he had hiccups! its really funny (although not much fun when trying to sleep) he's gunna be just like his big sister, she constantly had hiccups both when i was pg and once she was born!!

oh and lebe, dont worry no one pressured me into saying, im not that bothered by telling its just certain images and feelings i cant deal with. i.v got. over it now by realising if my past hadnt happened i wouldnt have met my man and wouldnt have my perfect children/family so its all for the good eventually!!!

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 11:30

My consultant wanted me to have a growth and presentation scan as she couldn't feel baby as I'm a bigger than average lady, and she wanted to see me in two weeks after my scan or sooner if there was any problems, however the hospital can't fit me in until middle of October ! They told me to keep my consultant appointment on Monday and tell her ! Grrr..... I know its not the lady on the end of the phones fault but it's just so frustrating ! I know that I wouldn't need this extra scan if I didn't start my pregnacy overweight however, I did, and they should be able to fit me in to a two week slot !

staceym11 · 19/09/2006 11:35

oh debz hope they manage to reduce the waiting time for you, am sitting here feeling what i think is another contraction, its only when sitting upright feels like braxton hicks but really hurts in my back like when i was in labour with dd, if it happens more il phone mw.

Delia · 19/09/2006 11:40

Morning all, my you've all been busy over the last couple of days!
Well feel really naf today have not slept properly the last 3 nights and its all starting to take its toll.
Names - we have decided on Paige Alyson for a girl and Vaughan Kieran Alexander for a boy.
Bag - been and brought things but not actually packed it yet - did have a panic dream about not having it packed the other day though so am starting to get motivated!
We start parenting classes next tue so hopefully will have a bit more of an idea what to expect after those!

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 11:43

I'm hoping the consultant can kick some butt when I go back on Monday. Stacey hope things slow down or stop altogether for you. However, I can't help feeling a little jealous, I just want it over with now ! Keep us posted. Here I am and not even once Braxton Hicks to my name .... anyone htink I'm in for a pain free labour LOL

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 11:45

Ooops should read one Braxton Hicks and anyone think !

staceym11 · 19/09/2006 11:53

lol doubt it debz, i didnt feel them with dd but def have with this one, well had one painful 'contraction' yest and one today, not too worried unless get lots i suppose, will mention at next mw anyway, even if it is only once a day. in a way id quite like it over too, but i know he'd be very little and i dont really want that!

Debz99 · 19/09/2006 12:10

Stacey - Damn I was living in hope LOL! I'm sure I'm in for a massive shock when I do get either braxton hicks or proper contractions, I have certainly been preparing myself for the worst pain known to man but I bet that thought is not even anywhere near the truth ! I don't do pain well so, I'm going to be a big wimp I'm sure !!!!

Sending you positive hugs, here's hoping it all calms down, put your feet up and have some chocolate it's the cure for most things you know !!!LOL
