Hi everyone, we have run out of posts on our last thread so hopefully we'll all find this one easily enough.

Here is to more positive 12 week scans and enjoying our second trimesters, all feeling more human hopefully!

Before I had a child I remember wondering why my friend let her toddler get so messy and covered with food! I cringe a bit now to think of it. I don't think my dd is necessarily a walking dustbin but tbh I could just be immune to it by now and not notice while other people tut!
Also I am the not so proud owner of a two year old who says 'fuck's sake' perfectly in context and with crystal clarity Blush. She overheard me when we were in the car and I cursed because someone had left a load of junk under my tyres. We are trying the whole 'what did you say? GOD'S sake?' approach now which mostly works but the moral of the story is judge not lest ye be judged!

weeonion · 05/05/2014 19:04

I remember when DD started to talk - she called our cat "bloody cat". I wonder just where she got that from.... She now says " In name its code" which is her version of "in the name of god"

Tis true - we are not aware of just how big a sponge they are and how often we say certain things......

We're pretty terrified of how much ds might be absorbing - I think (think) that dh and I are pretty good on the hardcore swearwords anyway, but I caught myself using bugger only the other day which seems mild to me but obviously I'd rather not share with ds!

On the filth front though I have to admit I'm one of those laissez-faire parents; it's a bonus of being small that one can spend much of the day covered in earth and/or food and it's all sorted out in the bath. I also have wildly lax habits when it comes to letting ds eat things off the floor, but he's survived 16 months without food poisoning and seems fairly robust. My dm was the same and my brother and I have both drunk tap water in some of the high risk countries of the world and survived, so I tend to think it helps the immune system.

Obviously I wasn't giving him unsterilised tap water from birth though... (Before I get reported to SS)

alita7 · 05/05/2014 20:26

I think I'm pretty good at not swearing around dsd, I don't swear a hell of alot out loud anyway... but dp still swears tonnes and somehow none of the dsds have picked it up at all and none of them ever swear!

Oh it's surprising the things you do as a mum you never thought you would when you're exhausted, bored of repeating yourself and can't face another tantrum Wink

Hi everyone, just been catching up on posts. I hope everyone had a good weekend?

It was lovely to have an extra day off! I seem to have spent most of the weekend sleeping but it feels well spent! Will be a shock to get up at 6am again tomorrow to get to work.

12 week scan on Wednesday and I'm starting to worry now ! I'll just be glad to have it done and hopefully know all is ok. It's first thing in the morning so I'm lucky to not have to wait until later in the day at least. DH thinks I am daft being so nervous!

Good luck to everyone else with scans this week. Here is to more wriggly, happy babies!

Well we've had a lovely family day out to the seaside today, nice as DP works a lot at weekends normally. I had been feeling lots better, no more nausea etc and since I have been on Ranitidine for the heartburn I have generally been feeling more like myself and much more energy in the last few weeks (13+3).
BUT
the last two days I have been feeling really rough! Headaches and vomiting, for example this afternoon we had some chips by the sea and I really enjoyed every bite, but as soon as I had finished I felt so sick and headachey, we had to stop at the motorway services on the way home so I could be sick, I basically chucked my guts up and then was fine again!
So weird, wonder if it's to do with the fat content of the chips?

ladydolly · 06/05/2014 03:12

giraffeski I'm the same. Been feeling so much better but had a Chinese takeaway tonight and here I am at 3am, wide awake because I feel so sick. Its definitely the fat, it takes longer to digest and digestion is slower anyway when you're pregnant so it just sits there. Its actually making me feel sick just thinking about it!

Petal26 · 06/05/2014 06:25

Good luck tomorrow Barmy

Got my scan in 3 hours! Hospital is about 16 miles away so setting off early to beat the rush hour traffic, nervous now!

I've been struggling with food in the afternoon/evenings the last few days. Spent ages making lasagne/curry/something else and then only managed a few mouthfuls and had no appetite at all :-( At least DH and DD are getting fed!

MrsWombat · 06/05/2014 06:44

Scan in about three hours for me too!

Still feeling tired, but certainly feeling less sick. Is this the light at the end of the tunnel? 12+6

haventgotaclue1 · 06/05/2014 06:47

Good luck Petal and Mrs wombat! Hope all goes well for you both. Have to wait until next Monday for my scan - wish the time would go faster!

Northernexile · 06/05/2014 07:13

Good luck today petal and mrswombat! Hoping for more good news on the thread!

pinkgirlythoughts · 06/05/2014 07:25

Good luck to those with scans today! Mine is tomorrow morning. Feeling Confused but then reminding myself how crappy I feel, surely that's a good sign!

amy83firsttimer · 06/05/2014 07:50

Scan at 13.10, exciting! Developed really sore throat turning into full on cold yesterday / overnight though, oh joy! Just had a paracetamol and a camomile tea with lemon juice and honey in it. Is there anything else I can take?

Giraffeski · 06/05/2014 07:51

Yy lady dolly, that's exactly how it felt, as if it was just sitting there waiting for me to throw it up! Yuk. I don't normally eat stuff that's that high in fat but really fancied some chips at the seaside!
In other news, vomiting in a public toilet while trying not to touch anything is... Interesting.
I suppose I will just have to keep food a bit lighter and smaller portions to try and see if that helps.

Venus2 · 06/05/2014 07:56

Yay to another week filled with positive scan news. I hope you all enjoy seeing your little ones. I look forward to your updates and pics

WheresMrMonkey · 06/05/2014 08:20

Goodluck for lovely scans and happy wriggling babies!

TwigletFiend · 06/05/2014 08:51

Miskate · 06/05/2014 09:17

bunnykitten · 06/05/2014 09:28

Good luck with all the scans, so exciting!

Venus2 · 06/05/2014 10:01

Mistake, are you talking from personal experience?

weeonion · 06/05/2014 10:09

Another week and more scans.

Good luck to all who have theirs today and this week. Is there many left for the week after??

Miskate · 06/05/2014 10:40

I am! it doesn't have caffeine in it but it is chock full of glucose. it was the only thing I could find in the car to chug beforehand and I knew I had to have a full bladder. Highly recommended. The minigoose was doing backflips.

Miskate · 06/05/2014 10:42

Fist pumping at one point ^

TwigletFiend · 06/05/2014 10:49

Hahaha, that's amazing!! Grin

In my scan Bean was chilling out with its arms up by its head and its legs kicking like it was swimming, but not much movement apart from that. Will try the Lucozade next time!
