I appear to have come down with a bout of flu ladies :( paracetamol and soothers don't seem to be doing anything - any recommendations?

Good luck with the move zing

Ipsumlorem · 14/05/2014 18:26

plate loving the chair! That's right up my street colour wise!

zing good luck with the big move!! Hope everything goes smoothly!

pixie I spent all day yesterday dosing myself with hot ribena alongside the paracetamol in the hope the vit c would do me good - and rubbing vicks on my chest - and I have to say I feel a good bit better today. Sinuses still bunged but throat and ears not as sore thankfully! Smile Wouldve been great had I not been sick 3 times this morning - think morning sickness making a comeback Sad

Plateofcrumbs · 14/05/2014 18:47

Ipsum practically everything in my house is painted white or grey! I think the nursery is going to be grey and white with a yellow accent (so the poor child doesn't grow up only able to see in monochrome!). This is on my wish list to sit on the chair once it's re-covered!

Hot Ribena all round for those feeling ill Brew

Almost my entire office is ill at the moment but so far I haven't succumbed...

Ipsumlorem · 14/05/2014 19:29

Sounds a lot like my house plate - we have splashes of random colour around the place too Smile Love the grey/yellow combo and that cushion is luverly! Grin

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 14/05/2014 20:38

Love the grey/white look but when we bought our house it had been decorated white with the occaisional splash of dark grey/black and it was very masculine. The downstairs is dark grey tiles and the upstairs was painted white floorboards. The previous owner left behind all his white ikea funiture as well.

So we have been adding colour to the house, not bright colours though more muted. New bathroom is grey tiles and victorian cream walls though. And the carpet is heavenly!!

Patchworking9til5 · 14/05/2014 23:27

Hello hello. I've been reading the painting conversation with interest. wouĺd highly recommend paints from here: www.makespeoplehappy.co.uk/

Really good quality dutch paint, amazing colours for children's rooms and fun names too. When hubby painted nursery it didn't really smell at all, so I felt confident about it being low risk Smile

And yes, our nursery is EXTREMELY bright yellow Grin

BlueC2 · 15/05/2014 02:24

Feeling our nursery is a little too neutral now! It's a mix of cream and a coffee/mocha colour. Had a powder blue accent with bunting, cushions etc with a star print for DS. This time going for a pale green (gender neutral!) accent. It is very calming though.

plate Love love the cushion-shame DH would have a fit at my spending that much on a cushion :( but it will give you excellent lower back support in your new snazzy poang feeding chair :)

So DH now has a cold and is properly stressed out by it having been so ill with colds/flu etc before Christmas and having kept illness free for past 5 months. I think him looking after me and DS so much recently on top of working and digging up half the garden (though that bit was his choice!) has caught up with him.

I had hideous day with DS-seems he's like a different child the day after he's been with the childminder at the moment so going to have to get to the bottom of that. Hoping tomorrow is better!

pixie and Ips hope you feel better soon and whoever mentioned the return of morning sickness I had it happen last time and after this morning think it may be happening again!

zing hope all goes well with the house move and that your two little ones calm down (we could get them together with my DS and they could cause chaos together?!)

Big wave to anyone else wide awake at 2am too :)

NancyinCali · 15/05/2014 03:36

No painting here as we rent. DD's bedroom is a hotch potch of styles. Once we figure out sleeping arrangements for her and the baby I'll give it a spruce up with wall stickers, pictures etc.

ZingWatermelon · 15/05/2014 06:08

Up since 4.30.

I am so stressed.
Called GP yesterday and cried on the phoneBlush
He prescribed Diazepam, not sure if I should take it, but I might - I need something to calm me down for the next week.
I sometimes wonder whether their questions are "scripted"

"Have you thought of self harm?"
No, you fucking idiot, I'm calling because I'm so stressed I can't concentrate and nearly crashed the car twice within 5 minutes yesterday and I need to chill.
Precisely because I want nothing bad to happen
(I really wanted to say that)

"So you are stressed. How long have you felt that way?
Confused

Well, have you moved houses before?
"Yes"
Did you find it stressful?
"Yes"
Ok, Have you been pg? (male dr, so now laughing). Have you got 6 kids?
Two of whom are very young and properly destructive?
"No"
Well can you IMAGINE putting that all together? ??
How stressed do you think you would be?
And for how long??
"Well, I will do a prescription for you right now"
(Actual conversation)

I know it will be ok, but right now if I could convert stress and anger into money I would be a zillionaire.

Grrrrrr!! Poor Zing. Men!! They just don't get it do they?! My DH was all full of the joys of spring yesterday arranging expensive accommodation for IM Wales. This made me just feel more isolated (especially when he said I could always spend the weekend he's away with my parents!) and he tells himself that I am miserable due to being over 7 months pregnant. Which is partly the case however his triathlon plans and the 6/7 days training a week are another very good reason! He didn't like being told that this is the most selfish thing he has ever done.... Rant over - for now Wink

icklekid · 15/05/2014 06:26

Oh no zing that is rubbish to hear hope things seem a bit better in the morning - might be worth taking the medication to see how you feel on them. If it helps for the next few weeks worth it?

I'm also a grey fan! Being persuaded to paint nursery pale yellow not grey was hard work but it does look cute and is a little room!

Fingers crossed morning sickness isn't returning for lots of you- I'm sure I've been sick enough for us all! Will be odd not to be when this pregnancy is over!

So just finally to vent - our friends invited us to this comedy event about family life last night. We went and the main guy speaking wasn't there so hard to know what it should have been like but it wasn't great. Wasn't very funny and generally I felt bad for dragging dh there. But I regret it even more this morning. I am shattered Sad got 2 days of exhausting teaching in front of me and could really do with staying in bed!!! All for a rubbish eve- boo!

JasmineLondon · 15/05/2014 06:58

coco How are things going on the liver front? My SIL baby born a few weeks ago at 5lbs and he is doing well, no problems.

To all of you still chucking up - massive respect, I honestly don't know how I would cope with that at this stage.

zing - have you ever taken diazepam before? Pls be sure to follow the prescription advice, it's not a joke when they say it can become addictive! Realise I am a naive first timer saying this to a pro mum Smile but sadly have someone v close to me who became addicted to them Sad

Just been told by MW I need to eat more red meat as my haemoglobin level has fallen. DH is delighted at prospect of steak :-) Anyone know of a preg multivitamin with iron I can take that doesn't bung you up? Cheers

Patchworking9til5 · 15/05/2014 08:30

jasmine have you tried my pregnacare? I take them and haven't had any bad side effects. (hadnt been taking them for awhile so may explain the drop in my iron levels)
My midwife told me the same thing last week so I've been eating beef, spinach, broccoli and drinking orange juice as apparently it helps you absorb the iron.

So I know my some of you have already finished but today is the start of the final countdown...10 working days left wahoooo!

ellentullo · 15/05/2014 08:57

Anyone else had a try at the dreaded perineal massage yet? I am somewhat alarmed at apparent lack of space down there. Plus, it's technically more difficult to do than I imagined!

Ipsumlorem · 15/05/2014 09:13

16 days left at work here!!

zing I had to take diazepam for a trapped nerve made worse by muscle tension before. Just a word of warning - it knocked me out pretty effectively - so much so I remember dh having to practically carry me home from a restaurant - a novel occurrence with no alcohol involved! Blush Mind you you may welcome that escape from the stress atm! Smile

Patchworking9til5 · 15/05/2014 09:30

ellen all I can say is...you are very brave.
I'm saving that treat for a few weeks. Shouldn't start too early. My nct teacher said it gets easier and easier if you do it everyday Hmm . If you are managing to do it yourself then double respect!

Plateofcrumbs · 15/05/2014 11:16

zing you've got a lot on your plate, hardly surprising you're stressed. Take care of yourself!

So just been for my second "consultant" appointment of the week - first one at hospital 1, this one at hospital 2. Inverted commas as, once again, despite the fact I'd been told that the purpose of this visit was to see the actual consultant, she wasn't there. Two doctors spent a lot of time debating the nature of the cysts. Upshot is they want to refer me to hospital 3 for a second opinion.

Bad news is they described the endometriosis as "severe", good news they were talking about normal VB today rather than ELCS, although one way or another I doubt I'll escape the scalpel.

AuntieMaggie · 15/05/2014 12:47

plate do you think you would you need to have an operation for the cysts and endometriosis? If you did have ELCS would they be able to deal with them at the same time?

zing be kind to yourself x

AuntieMaggie · 15/05/2014 12:51

plate btw I sympathise with you re consultants and stuff - I had a tumour removed from a major organ a few years ago and the appts and stuff were painfully frustrating.

Plateofcrumbs · 15/05/2014 13:05

Yep I think it's pretty definite that they'll want to do something to remove all the crap that shouldn't be there auntie. There was some talk about doing a 2-for-1 (whip out the baby and the cysts at the same time) but I think they'd only do that if I needed an ELCS for other reasons (which is possible) rather than that being a reason to do an ELCS itself if you see what I mean? I think a separate op on the cysts post-natally would just be a keyhole job so preferable to a C-section. But as I have still not seen the flippin' consultant Angry and they still aren't entirely sure what they're dealing with despite about five scans now , who knows?

BlueC2 · 15/05/2014 13:45

zing have you got a company coming to do the packing as well as moving for you? If not I think it would seriously be worth considering- I know it's extra cost but it would make a massive difference to how much you have to do and stress levels. Plus is there anywhere the DC (or some of them) can go to stay for a few days to give you some space to get your head around what needs doing and then quietly plod along with it without the DC? We moved when DS was 5 months and I packed everything-it was super hard work. I can't imagine doing it whilst this pregnant and with 6DC to look after Shock do be kind to yourself and be ruthless with asking for help!!

plate sorry to hear consultants being so useless!

Coco how are you getting on?

Things calmer here today though I must get off here and do some work while DS naps. I fancy a huge slice of Cake anyone wish to join me? :)

AuntieMaggie · 15/05/2014 15:59

plate would they want to do keyhole to look at the extent of endometriosis too? Tbh my op was keyhole but where they took the tumour out was still about 5 inches as it was so big and it took me about 2 months to recover.

NancyinCali · 15/05/2014 16:49

zing oh goodness. I can hardly cope with a toddler whilst pregnant let alone moving house and 6 DCs. I too had diazepam for back pain and whilst I wouldn't say I got addicted I did have a few left after the back spasm had eased and took them anyway unnecessarily. Definitely something to be mindful of.

plate sorry for the consultant uselessness.

blue yes please to cake (cake for breakfast is okay, yes?)

It was around 40C here yesterday. And we don't have aircon. Spent the morning in a children's museum, then DD didn't nap, then we sweltered under fans until there was enough shade outside to set up the paddling pool. It's cooling off at the weekend but I'll be in NYC anyway woooo!

I'd best get off MN as have loads of jobs to get done before the weekend and DD is in nursery today.

Plateofcrumbs · 15/05/2014 18:42

Yes yes yes to paying for packing service! It felt like an extravagance but some of the best money I ever spent.

auntie from what I've read endo ops are normally keyhole with a small incision, but I'm pretty clueless really.

Has everyone been given their MATB1 already - just occurred to me I don't have one yet!

icklekid · 15/05/2014 19:01

Yes plate ring midwife to get matb1- they can leave at gp for you to pick up or post

Oh zing and plate I sympathise I've had one or those days too. Children in school been vile to each other which makes me so cross and just in a bad mood. Still so tired after a rubbish eve out last night and got nct tonight. Baby been kicking all day and got tightness at top of bump...braxton hicks?

blue I need Cake
