maggie could be carpal tunnel like me? midwife can refer you so you can get splints to wear at night? although I'm still waiting for physio to ring back....
It's horrible though. I googled it and found some weird suggestions like putting cabbage leaves on your wrists to draw out the fluid.
Of course could be something entirely different!

Any ocado shoppers? they have a great offer on pampers (well it seems good to me) 2 boxes of 74 nappies for £20. works out about 13p a nappy. I.ordered a box.of size 1 and one of size 2, as I've heard babies grow v quickly!! Please nobody tell me now that this is bad value lol!!!

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 09/05/2014 11:23

Sounds fine to me patch

I have been given loads of nappies in various sizes right up to super large. My sister and her friends all have older children and sainsburys had an offer on free nappies if you spend £50 so that got me 12 packs of nappies, not to mention all the half used packs that my 6 month old nephew has grown out of since birth...

Carpet being fitted today meaning I can now move stuff from the PILs dining room into the nursery. Very exciting!!

lentilpot · 09/05/2014 11:46

Thanks for all the well wishes! Sickness seems to have receded a bit, midwife thinks it was acid reflux, I think maybe I just overdid it at the weekend and my body was rebelling! Had an appointment yesterday and mine and baby's vital seem fine, phew.

Is anyone else waking up with sore hips? Mine feel almost bruised. I guess I should be glad I'm sleeping long enough for it to be an issue!

Aww Zing, you've got me all excited about meeting our little boy!

ZingWatermelon · 09/05/2014 12:17

lentil

I'm glad I did!Smile

pg & birth can be a little bit of a "can't see the forest from the tree" thing.

It's good to remind ourselves every now and then that all the crap & pain we endure will be so worth it.

After the awful day I had yesterday I feel much better today.
last day at playgroup - done. what a relief!

patchwork yes mw seemed to think it was carpal tunnel so off to gp on monday... Mw said to drink plenty of water to ease the swelling and gp can give me splints... got a call in with my physio though as mw also said to double check there isn't anything else for my pubic bone grinding pain

ismarah · 09/05/2014 12:31

Just saw the Consultant, DH in tow. She was very forthright and not entirely bullying, unlike the two registrars I've seen. She has experience dealing with people with EDS of the same type I have - and with the other medical complications I have.

She has referred me to a consultant anaesthesiologist and an ante-natal specialist physio. Those are supposed to help figure out realistic options for me regarding VB.

She stated point blank that she would not approve a maternal request ELCS on the grounds that it was medically worse for me, based on her experience. If I continue to request one she will not be involved with my care and I'd have to find another consultant that would be willing to sign off on it.

She also said that based on what the anaesthesiologist says, I am possibly not allowed a water birth, which would be my best plan B.

When I queried if I then needed consultant-led care at all she said that a midwife would not be equipped to cope, so I'm stuck.

Sad now.

Ipsumlorem · 09/05/2014 13:05

Thanks zing - your post really cheered me up and made me smile!! Grin I know things are gonna change for us with a baby and that it can be tough going at times but I'm just so excited it is hard to have the joy continually sucked out of it! Wink

Sorry to hear that ismarah Sad I would love a water birth but I am continually fighting with my blood pressure at the moment so not too hopeful to make it to the end in the lovely midwife led unit.

Major excitement here today! Have just come home to find my crib and mattress have been delivered! Fighting temptation to open the box for a look without DH Grin

Plateofcrumbs · 09/05/2014 13:18

Just had to pop in briefly to say hallelujah! My kneeling chair has arrived, one of my team has kindly assembled it for me and it is fabulous! Grin

AuntieMaggie · 09/05/2014 14:17

Aww plate would love one of those but I only have 5 weeks left :-P

BlueC2 · 09/05/2014 14:29

Afternoon all-thank you so much for your kind thoughts. No more news on Gma as DM has taken the brave decision not to call again til her flight lands on Tuesday morning-she knows the nurses in the frail care unit well and they will call her if anything changes in the meantime.

ismarah sorry the consultant not being helpful-hopefully things will slot into place though

zing so glad you've had a better day. Was thinking of you last night and that whilst you are v used to pregnancy each one is obviously different plus you have an extra child to look after plus you are a little older than the last time AND are masterminding a house move with 6DC in your third trimester!!! You should be renamed 'wonder woman' and are totally excused from having off days and feeling tired! Really think you need to ask for some extra help from friends or family in next few weeks though (I know you like to be independent but sometimes needs must!).

So this morning we were finally able to go swimming after three missed lessons due to DS ill and then me. Just about to leave the house when DS trips on doormat and whacks his head on the sharp door frame- cue huge purple egg on his head and the poor thing crying and saying 'oh dear, oh dear' pointing at the mat! We did still go swimming which I think took his mind off it a bit. Poor thing it looks so very sore but they are so resilient as toddlers!

ZingWatermelon · 09/05/2014 14:45

blue

you are not bossy, you make sense!Smile

you'll be glad to know I do get quite a lot of help from PILs and lots of friends are available to help, which means I don't have to soldier on till I keel over!
The evenings DH is late/away/out I do struggle, but that's life.
And he managed to come home earlier yesterday - he sorted dinner, bedtime, homework, dishwasher, hoovered up.
I was just lying on the sofa, reading!

I echo blue You need to continue to stay on that sofa zing glad to hear you have help!

What a fun day I've had-felt sick all day but kids were beautifully behaved-one sen child who I gave a camera to to take pictures of opaque objects took a picture of my bottom! Made me laugh to look through at home!

icklekid · 09/05/2014 18:07

Feel I should clarify not my actual bottom the back of my skirt!

NancyinCali · 09/05/2014 18:11

Morning all! I'm freaking out as it's due to hit 97F next week. I may have to spend the day in an air conditioned shopping centre with DD.
I was awake with Braxton hicks in the night. Forgotten how bad I got them last time around. I couldn't walk far without setting them off before.

fifi669 · 09/05/2014 18:51

I'm now on leave, whoop! Got a big bunch of flowers from work, left a note with handover notes and that's it til next year.....

coco808 · 09/05/2014 18:51

glad you are better zing Smile

sorry to hear about the consultant appointment. hmmm....no plan A or B allowed. What is the appointment with the anesthetist for? Epidural?

plate my EDD is 7th of July and I'm working till 30th of June Hmm may be it wasn't the best idea!

coco808 · 09/05/2014 18:54

can someone shed some light on my incredibly irritating itching? It's all over but mainly hands and feet (which are so hard to reach anyway)!!

I don't suffer from any skin conditions and haven't changed any toiletries. I'm making areas bleed because I'm itching so much! Also, if I keep itching my belly, will I get stretch marks?

BlueC2 · 09/05/2014 19:02

Woohoo fifi :) congrats on finishing work!

zing or should I say queenzing glad to hear you have some help and are resting (a bit)

coco I have also developed v dry skin and itchiness on hands and feet and my bump itches sometimes too....all no matter how much I slather with moisturiser. It could be a sudden sensitivity to something (which I think it us in my case) or could be hormone related in which case you need to see your MW or doc to get it checked out as Could be to do with a hormone impact on your liver causing the itchiness (that will go post pregnancy but does need checking out).

JasmineLondon · 09/05/2014 20:32

Evening ladies, can you advise pls what clothes we need to buy for bambino?

Cannot understand what the difference is between all the types of vests/suits etc. Which type do we need for a July baby? And do I truly put a hat and mittens on poor child in July?? Cannot comprehend this! Do they wear trousers over the top?

How many outfit changes should I allow for each day? And how often do you have energy to run the washing machine with a new baby?

Do we get size newborn or 0-3?

Going to an NCT nearly new sale tomorrow and trying to get a list together. Thanks v much for help!

ZingWatermelon · 09/05/2014 20:52

Jasmine
no hat indoors or when they are asleep.

if you go for a walk best to cover pushchair with a thin cloth such as flannel sheet or large muslin square to keep sun out.
(also if you want baby to fall asleep it cuts out visual stimulation)

depending on weather shortsleeve or sleeves vest (poppers between legs, envelope shoulders) are enough during the day, sometimes at night,if really hot.
I combine these with long sleeve all-in-one sleep suits.

in my opinion that is all needed for a summer baby.
anything else like sweet dresses or outfits or tiny dungarees - cute but not always practical.

does that answer your question fully?
(if not, sorry, do ask more!Smile )

fifi Envy I submitted the paperwork to delay the start of my maternity leave by two weeks today so have only got myself to blame.

coco Shock I can't believe you are finishing work just one week before your due date! I thought I was cutting it fine leaving it until 38 weeks (I think).

Nancy hope you don't get too much problem with the Braxton Hicks. It's surprising how painful they can be.

Zing are you still on the sofa?

ismarah sorry to hear that your meeting with the consultant didn't leave you with the answer that you wanted. I can sympathise with you feeling sad.

I'm seeing my GP next Friday to get some advice on requesting ELCS because I don't know how the system here works. I'm not expecting her to have any influence but at least point me in the right direction. I spent 15 minutes on hold to the hospital trying to rearrange my next two appointments to times when DH can come, but lost the will to keep waiting and hung up. I will try again on Monday morning.

I've been trying to work out baby's position but failing miserably. I feel hiccups on the left side and kicking on the right under my ribs. But then I feel some many other random movements in other places it is hard to work out what anything is!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Smile

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 09/05/2014 21:15

Jasmine it is worth getting a little bit of both newborn and 0-3 months and then top up once you know how big or small baby is. For DS I simply got packs of 5 short sleeve vests/bodysuits and sleep suits in both newborn and 0-3 months, so not very much at all. In the end DS was small and the newborn swamped him! Larger babies might go straight into 0-3 months. I thought it was nice to have some clothes that fitted and didn't drown DS hence suggestion to get some smaller stuff.

I have just ordered packs of 3 vests and sleep suits in tiny baby size just in case this one is another tiddler. .

JasmineLondon · 09/05/2014 21:19

zing thanks - how many vests and what size? Ta

JasmineLondon · 09/05/2014 21:38

Thanks foxtrot will get some in both sizes, cheers
