Is your yoga teacher not good at advising on variations to accommodate SPD auntiemaggie? I've not been suffering too badly (well aside from feeling like I've been kicked between the legs most of the time) and have been doing all the yoga positions, but our teachers are always offering suggestions for people who have are suffering SPD/pelvic pain.

Suffering a bit today having realised when walking to the train station I'd left my mobile at home and having to run back then run for the train. Which was cancelled Angry. Sooo looking forward to a time when I can run again - feels like such an epic effort even to jog a few yards, and then suffer the consequences of pelvic pain.

ZingWatermelon · 07/05/2014 16:05

Maggie

if you think it does you no good or even makes things worse then stop the yoga.
I would.
just for a couple of weeks, see what happens.
you could try swimming instead, but no "frog leg" kicks.

Plate

ouch! and bloody annoying about train cancelled! .

we do forget that we can't do normal things.
last pg I jumped on top of some cardboard boxes to squash them.
it was a mistake.
not only it hurt my belly, but I slipped and grazed my knee

I meant to say auntiemaggie that I personally get quite a lot out of yoga in addition to the movement and stretching - I find the mossy breathing/focus stuff really helpful, so it depends if you find that helpful and whether you'd still get enough out of it to warrant going if you cut back on some of the moves.

AuntieMaggie · 07/05/2014 16:31

plate several of us in the class have said we have pelvic pain but there are one or two moves that the teacher does regardless, one being the pigeon pose which my physio said I shouldn't be doing with spd (and that it was a bit too hard core for pregnancy yoga)

The class is 90 mins long but we start 10 mins late waiting for everyone to turn up, then go round and say who we are etc so by the time we do any exercise we can be 20-30 mins into the class, then we do some yoga for about 30 mins, then 20 mins of meditation and then 10 or so minutes of chatting.

I feel like I should be enjoying it more iyswim?! Especially as its not cheap! And its not that I don't like the breathing/focus stuff because I do (am a fan of qi gong and mindfulness)!

icklekid · 07/05/2014 20:23

I know what you mean auntie I go to antinatal pilates and enjoy it and when spd was at its worst was amazing but now I'm back at the gym and spd is under control it seems like an expensive extravagance...will probably not go back after this next block.

plate do feel for you running for the train for it to be cancelled! I also can't wait to be able to run properly again!

zing sorry to hear about the dream hope tonight is better!

I made it to the gym again tonight after a long day at work. They have finally appointed my replacement so going to be able to plan a handover now which is good although I'm surprised by the person and they will have a lot to pick up! Can not wait for 24 tonight although the second episode at 10 I won't be able to stay up for however much I love Jack!

ZingWatermelon · 07/05/2014 20:27

ickle

running? ha!
I'll be happy with bending down normally instead of looking like a giraffe, legs akimbo, bending down to drink!Grin

ickle I seriously wish it was inly ten pounds I'd gained. I know it's far more than I should have but am not goimg to weigh because it will be too depressing!
Had a good MW appointment today, only 8 weeks til due date. felt amazing booking next appointment and being able to say 'any time suits me as I'll be on mat leave!' Smile party on!
Somehow though am being sent tonnes of grievances at work this week....seems like a good time to start a gradual hand over methinks...

icklekid · 07/05/2014 22:12

Yes indeed zing although shouldn't have spoken so soon, very sick this eve, think over did it today...

Good work on handover patch sounds like a perfect plan!

fifi669 · 07/05/2014 22:33

I've put on almost 2 stone Blush

Exam was horrific, DS had a massive hissy fit after nursery. Today is def a write off.

Two days left at work, roll on Friday 5pm!

icklekid · 08/05/2014 04:52

fifi so jealous of you finishing so soon! I really need to decide which week I am so I can mentally prepare- dh said should go for the week I put in my letter (37 weeks) and then if I'm struggling admit defeat but I just know I wouldn't and would keep going past where I should! Need to decide by end of next week so I can make a handover plan of action...

Wish I was still asleep!

mixi82 · 08/05/2014 07:43

Morning everyone. Just wanted a bit of advice really. Had whooping cough vaccination yesterday and felt fine, apart from a sore arm. Woke up last night a couple times feeling dizzy, so rolled over to my left side and it helped. Still felt dizzy and a little faint this morning though. Got told a couple weeks ago that my iron was low, borderline anaemic but GP didn't seem too concerned.

Is it worth letting someone know? And if so, should I call my MW first or GP surgery?

AuntieMaggie · 08/05/2014 09:04

mixi its unlikely to be the vaccine so I would call GP just to be safe.

mixi82 · 08/05/2014 09:25

Thanks auntie I called MW who said to call GP who said to call MW!! I just kept bouncing back this morning from one to the other. Called my clinic, receptionist wouldn't let me speak to a MW there and said to call the assessment unit where I was having baby. They said that it may be that my iron has got a bit lower now but I need to speak to GP. So spoke to GP again and they said I should go see MW cos it's their profession, they can give a better diagnosis........I'm on the verge of giving up!!

Plateofcrumbs · 08/05/2014 10:10

Argh how frustrating mixi!

Not having best start today - back was so painful yesterday I decided to work from home today so I could sit on my ball/lie on floor etc. Just settling down in pyjamas to read email when saw boss has sent message about a meeting today he now needs me at. Cue mad scramble to shower, change and jump on train...feeling flustered!

ismarah · 08/05/2014 10:11

If you have iron supplements, you can always take them just in case. If it is your iron level you'd need a blood test to check it anyway and either the GP or the MW can fill in the pathology form you'd need.

Your GP sounds a bit dickish though....midwives are not diagnosticians whereas doctors are. Yes, you think it might be the iron, but it might not. It could be something completely different and could also be entirely unrelated to baby.

If you're keeling over dizzy then I'd make a doctors appointment, rather than just call in.

BlueC2 · 08/05/2014 13:53

Another one of those days-i slept better but am still shattered though that could be to do with rushing around this morning and having some bad news. DM rang at 8.20 this morning and I knew as soon as I saw the phone something was wrong as she'd never normally call at that time :( my Grandma lives a long haul flight away and DM had a call this morning to say she's taken a turn for the worse (she's 98 and been doing pretty well despite losing my Grandad a year ago) so now DM flying out on Monday to see her- DM missed Grandad by 48 hours last year when he passed away so praying the same doesn't happen again :( I wish I was in a position to fly out with DM but obv can't leave DS and at nearly 31 weeks shouldn't really be doing long haul flights anyway. Our girls name choice already has Grandma's name as a middle name but could well have added poignancy depending what happens in next few weeks (we don't know sex of baby though so it could be a boy). Sorry for me me post will catch up properly later.

ZingWatermelon · 08/05/2014 14:58

Blue

I'm so sorry to hearSad Thanks
I hope your grandmother gets better, but if it's her time to go at least I hope your mum gets there on time.
(my SIL missed her dad by less than 2 hours.
double agony)

I'm not even going to complain about my day after your bad news....

I hope you are ok. holding your hand

Thanks zing just feels a bit like one thing after another at the moment! DH says it's a bit like that silly 'wack-a-mole' game where everytime you think you've sorted them all another one pops up! Hope your day is improving.

And mixi hope you're feeling better and have managed to see your GP

plate that's so frustrating and just what you didn't need-hope meeting was worthwhile

ZingWatermelon · 08/05/2014 15:55

Blue

yes, that's a good description.
I call it "Chinese plate spinning" - that routine they do in a Chinese circus when they start spinning plates on bamboo sticks, one after another.
just as they get to the last one they have to run back to the first as that is about to fall down.
ad infinitum

ok, I have to complain.

DS1 had to be picked up and driven home by grandma as he was doubling in pain.
DS3 was home today anyway - awful cough, sore throat, possible conjunctivitis starting.
waiting for GP to call back for a double app - had to call just as I was about to have a nap.
missed nap waiting and they haven't rang back yet. which means I can't make any phone calls Angry
I can hardly keep my eyes open.
busy weekend with crazy schedule.
then DH away from Sunday lunch time for two nights.

plus I decided that I stop taking DS5 to playgroup. I just can't cope with lunchtime pick up and extra morning tantrums.
he loves it once he's there, so I feel bad for taking him out, but it's just too fucking much....

(not even sure if rant is over )
