icklekid My midwife told me the same thing about lying on your back. She said it'll only have an effect if you're absolutely flat on your back, and said 1 pillow makes enough difference, I had the dentist in the week and was made to lie flat on my back and was fine.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 05/05/2014 13:18

Bean was accidentally conceived when I had 2am writers block during the last week of my post grad dissertation Grin. Fact.

Sorry havent been on here much, there is a facebook page if any newcomers wish to join us - we are currently bump flashing. Its a totally private group.

Have just ordered a buggy for my parents house. We have a diddy car so it makes sense not to have to travel with pramsystem!

AuntieMaggie · 05/05/2014 14:38

fifi it will be interesting to see who will be first... there seems to be a trend in my office to be early so although on the one hand that would be nice, I still have loads to do and am getting anxious at the thought!

ismarah lying on your back is supposed to be more uncomfortable not necessarily dangerous for the baby as the baby's weight is then all on your organs. Besides we lie on our backs every week in pregnancy yoga for a bit.

Hannah I saw the dentist and had to lie back too... and then she booked my next check up for 4 months instead of the usual 6... did you have this? I didn't notice in time to ask why.

liquid how the hell did you have the strength for that?

JasmineLondon · 05/05/2014 14:58

Thanks icklekid zing and mummytobe for welcomes and boots info!

ismarah - I went to hosp last week after strange night pains, dizziness and less movement from baby. Baby is completely fine and they were ace at the hosp. Explained that at 29 weeks the movements may still be hard to pin down into a routine / pattern so can make it more hard to tell for sure if / when movement is a problem. They also did REally helpful thing of monitoring baby's heartbeat for 40 mins whilst tracking his movements and asked me to press a button every time I felt him move myself. Guess what? I only felt about one third of his movements. Found this a huge help to know. If yr still in doubt after a few hours, ring them again and go in to get the reassurance - the midwives we unbelievably kind to me and said come in any time, much better to be safe and reassured than anxious. God bless.

ismarah · 05/05/2014 15:34

Well we phoned up after the two hours had passed as bean was still being gentle - no ninja kicks. They asked / offered us to come in and we had 30mins of monitoring. Everything was fine and like Jasmine I felt only a fraction of the actual movements. Soo glad we went, the midwife was lovely and made us feel very calm and welcome and very reassured by the time we left. She also confirmed that bean is now head down, bum front which is the optimum VB position - but new to me as she's been breach so far. So less movements might also just be different movements, IYSWIM...

AuntieMaggie · 05/05/2014 15:57

Glad everything is ok ismarah

Do they really do C-sections for SPD? There's a thread from a woman stressing about her tattoo being ruined because she may have to have a C-section because of SPD...

ZingWatermelon · 05/05/2014 16:34

fifi

I was wondering about it too

I have this image of an apple tree, whose apple will ripen & drop first?Grin

Yay great news ismarah! I'm lying on left side as I type this cos have been trying to wake LO up for last hour to feel some kicks after a v quiet day. Going for a walk then will have some fizzy drink to see if that wakes him up.

AuntieMaggie · 05/05/2014 17:15

Alternatively Jasmine go to sleep or poke your belly... always works for me!

DP seems disappointed in my lack of hairy belly or line... honestly he's dangerous when he's allowed to read about stuff!

I am sure my belly is getting bigger by the day!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/05/2014 17:23

Hope everyone's having a nice bank holiday weekend. Glad worries about movements seem to be ok. I still can't quite work out the baby's pattern, have tried various kick monitoring apps but don't quite get it... Kind of reassured by others being told at 29 weeks we might not be able to work out the pattern yet!

I wake up on my back at least 3 or 4 times a night!

How do we join the Facebook group again?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/05/2014 17:25

Oh and Maggie, plenty of hair and a line on my belly, sadly!

DaisyBank82 · 05/05/2014 17:30

Haven't posted for a while but have been following with interest. I need to vent as we had some bad news today. Our landlords are evicting us in 8 weeks, at which point I will be nearly 36 weeks pregnant. I can't quite believe they are doing this.

We contacted them to ask for a tenancy extension nearly 4 weeks ago as our current rental contract is up at end of June. They know I am pregnant. We actually only wanted 2 extra months as we have to move at the start of Sept into a brand new house which comes with my husband's new job (but it can't be ready any earlier as it's being built as part of a new boarding school where he is the deputy head). The whole thing is a nightmare and I think we may have to move in with one of our parents (either option is 70 miles away from current and new house) for 8 weeks then move back to the area again with our newborn.

We rent our own house out and there is no way I'd ever do this to our tenants. We haven't been any trouble - we've been here for 2 years. I am so upset. We are looking locally too but short term lets are very hard to come by and we also have pets (cats) who I am worried about. So much worry. Feel so helpless and sad.

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 05/05/2014 18:28

Daisy that is so rubbish. I can't believe they would do that knowing you are moving out anyhow?! Im sorry I have no advice to give but am hoping something comes up.

Husband toddled off to work today and came back in a right grump because he wanted me to paint the skirting board when he was out. Fat chance! Hmm

For anyone wanting to join facebook group, just pm your email address to MrsB2013 and she will email you a facebook invite.

I had a great gift come through the post this weekend from my cousin who had severe SPD, its one of those long distance grabber gadgets. very handy for removing socks and picking up things off the floor.

DaisyBank82 · 05/05/2014 19:06

Thanks Liquid. The landlords haven't given a reason (we are talking through an estate agent) but my guess is they want to return to the house as they currently live overseas. They have also asked us to grant access to builders and architects this week - charming. I don't know why they couldn't tell us when we asked them nearly 4 weeks ago. I am also hoping something will come up locally but it's a long shot. Don't know whether to pay for our NCT classes or not as we may have to miss some of the classes.

Plateofcrumbs · 05/05/2014 19:11

Oh Daisy that is rubbish. Unfortunately the landlord is probably within their rights to give you 2 months' notice. It's terrible that tenants have very few rights in situations like this and have to rely on landlords' goodwill.

It is worth checking the landlord has issued you notice correctly as it may not be legally binding otherwise (some information here ). It's not something I'd advocate but in theory if you simply didn't move out at the end of the period there's little the landlord can do without a court order to force you out.

Do you know why your landlord wants you out? Can you negotiate (eg offer to pay a higher rent for the remaining two months)?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/05/2014 19:24

Sorry Daisy - that's just a whole heap of stress that you could do without at the moment. They must know that you're leaving in a bit anyway - it's a shame if there's no room for negotiation on the moving date.

Plateofcrumbs · 05/05/2014 19:24

Ah cross-posted with you there Daisy. Check your tenancy agreement to see what notice they need to give regarding access, you shouldn't have to let architects etc in at short notice.

If the notice letter has come from a letting agent it's more likely they use a standard template so have probably done it properly, but still worth checking.

And assuming you could afford to pay a bit more to avoid moving out, I would still definitely try to negotiate.

icklekid · 05/05/2014 19:27

maggie I've got a ridiculously hairy belly!

daisy really sorry - I wonder if you can keep talking and see if there is any room to compromise. Some of the nct classes are over a weekend day for 2 weeks rather than 6 weeks that you might miss some of?

Got some second hand stuff from a friend today- she is so generous! We no longer need to buy any new born clothes, sheets, mattress protectors, bottles and lots of hypnotherapy dvds. Amazing Smile

BlueC2 · 05/05/2014 19:52

Evening all! Have been reading but not quite managed to post for a few days.

patchwork woohoo on finishing your assignment!!

daisy so sorry about your housing situ-hope it gets sorted quickly

ismarah glad MWs helpful and all well with bean

I'm sure there are more people I wanted to respond to personally but my brain is mush I'm afraid! I've finished my antibiotics and for the most part am well again but still v tired and have periods of tooth pain still. Am off to dentist tomorrow just to check nothing wrong there, and also to opticians to sort out new glasses. Thankfully the house/contents insurance have agreed to cover the stolen stuff which is great!

DS loving his new room and has settled in there so well. I just need to sort out all the stuff dumped in his old room to convert it back to being the nursery.

Was looking at the calendar earlier and 10 weeks to go doesn't feel very long-scary stuff!! But exciting too!

ZingWatermelon · 05/05/2014 20:11

daisy

that's crap. no wise words, but hoping that a good solution will pop up.

(And apologies for "mountain speech", but I'd like to offer a different POW.
Every Christmas I wonder how stressed Mary must have been, having to travel for miles, fully pg on a donkey(!), having no idea where she will be to give birth, nothing prepared. It makes me break out in a cold sweat just to imagine how scared and worried she must have been.
But then I remember that she was just fine.
No, the circumstances weren't ideal, but things worked out anywaySmile

I believe that whatever happens, however hopless a situation might appear, God cares and will provide what we need.

I'm not trying to preach or anything, but hope this helps.
If it doesn't, just ignoreWink )

Saw friend's 3 day old baby today. They were gamely coping with visiting parents, siblings and us all together, plus entertaining their toddler etc. Mum looked remarkably serene amid all this!

Baby gorgeous but both amazing and frightening how small, vulnerable and dependent they look.

coco808 · 05/05/2014 20:45

Awww lovely words zing

Hope you can convince the landlord to allow 2 extra months daisy Smile.

blue glad you are on the mend. Have you tried steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil at all? Supposed to really help open sinuses

plate did it make you broody? I saw SIL's two kids today and they had the opposite effect on me ha ha

lemonpoppyseed · 05/05/2014 21:29

Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend - we didn't get one here in Canada :(

I had my 32 week scan (routine here) this morning. Baby is already 5lbs (eek) and is in frank breech position. Dr doesn't seem too worried - yet - so neither am I. Plenty of time to turn, right? Grin My due date remains at June 26, having originally been July 7.

It was great to see the baby again. Although it was a regular scan you could see eyelids opening and closing, individual fingers and lips. All starting to feel a bit real now (anyone would think I hadn't done this before Smile)

Plateofcrumbs · 05/05/2014 22:46

Broody coco? A couple of hours entertaining a lively toddler definitely helped dampen the impact of the cute baby!

Have totally overdone it today - mowed lawn, chased toddler, walked a couple of miles, cycled a bit. Poor pelvis doesn't know what hit it.

ismarah · 06/05/2014 00:20

Boobs are growing again. Sigh.
