icklekid · 04/05/2014 22:45

Welcome Jasmime join boots parenting club for vouchers I've got 1/3 off pump but not sure they always send same vouchers to everyone? Link here

mrsa I would love a vista just couldn't justify price- baby jogger always gets good reviews too! Can't go wrong with either although BJ no parent facing option I believe?

Patchwork88 · 04/05/2014 23:25

Grin douglases! teehee!
Trying not to feel smug but have totally just submitted essay which combined with the exams last week means I am DONE with weekend work for at least a year now. Just 17 days left at work before freeeeeeeeeeeeeedom...well until baby arrives of course!!
So happy that I can just enjoy the bank holiday tomorrow, hope everyone can enjoy the day off and the sunshine without feeling queasy/aching/exhaustion/heart burn.
Don't forget to slap on the sun cream for our super sensitive pregnancy skin.

NancyinCali · 05/05/2014 02:47

Haven't caught up yet but re doulas (or douglases), I had one. But I'm in the US where birth can be very medicalised (although my midwife was ace) and we wanted to labour at home as long as possible so she helped loads with that and when was the right time to go to hospital. A lot of the time at hospital it was just me, DH and our doula in the room and the midwife left us to it apart from monitoring. It was perfect for us but I have no idea how it work with the nhs system having not had a baby in the UK.

icklekid · 05/05/2014 05:22

Wooo patch thats amazing news congratulations! Have some Cake to celebrate!

No kidding about shn sensitive skin Saturday was gardening, wasn't even that sunny and face is a bit Blush

Sleeping until 5 feels amazing! Not going to work today is awesome. However 3 more weeks until holiday feels a long time. I also need to decide if I'm going to finish at 36 weeks which is what I wanted to do, or the date I told work (37 weeks) urgh wish I wasn't so thick!!! Half of me thinks whats an extra week but not sure my body will agree when we get there!

Envy at all of you with Bank Holiday Monday. Have a lovely day. Sadly no holiday here today. I had bank holiday Thursday last week and again this week.

I already have a ds who will be 2.8 when baby arrives. Can't for the life of me work out whether we should buy a double buggy. We are quite outdoorsy in a National Trust sort of way, so grassy, woodlandy stuff, and though he's a great walker, ds will often want to bed down in his buggy (Nipper 360 - fabulous, fabulous thing) after a while. Never got on with slings last time - I seem to make big heavy babies!

Think we'll see how the paternity leave period goes and do a few test runs.

ismarah · 05/05/2014 09:33

Congratulations Patch that's brilliant timing!

I've done that thing I'm not supposed to. I slept on my back for a bit because one of my pillows fell on the floor. Am now waiting for bean to start kicking and feeling guilty because of sleep.

coco808 · 05/05/2014 10:09

I'm sure she will kick soon ismarah. I catch myself sleeping on my back every night with the pillow on top of DH!!

Patchworking9til5 · 05/05/2014 10:16

Starting off the bank holiday by making some blueberry muffins as over ordered the blueberries this week. Hubby cleaning the patio off and we're. planning a picnic later. cannot even describe how amazing it feels to have no work guilt hanging over me....
(obviously ignoring recruitment mess that I have to go back to tomorrow)

ickle definitely opt for 36 weeks...what if baby comes early? Then you'll still have a good rest beforehand. NCT teacher told us that stats actually show babies come evenly spread between 38 and 42 weeks (hope I've remembered that correctly)
ismarah don't worry too much about back sleeping. I'm sure baby will be up and kicking soon, mine always starts when I have a cup of jasmine tea so perhaps try that?

coco808 · 05/05/2014 10:44

Rub it in patchwork, rub it in!!! Grin Grin...I've still got 1562 words left to write for my essay, so I guess I'm not moving from my desk all day Envy

Patchworking9til5 · 05/05/2014 10:47

hehe sorry! come on coco you can do it!! write write write! you'll feel amazing once it's done x

ismarah · 05/05/2014 11:44

Bean hadn't moved for about 2hrs since I got up, so I called the hospital. Have now had loads of ice cold water and heaps of chocolate (may need more chocolate) and she's moving a bit. Little flutters more than the great big ninja kicks she can do. Supposed to phone hospital again in two hours (if DH doesn't have a heart attack first...)

coco808 · 05/05/2014 12:01

oh ismarah try not to worry Brew. How about rubbing the belly? That seems to work for me. I bet she is just having a nice long nap Smile

thanks for the cheering patch can't wait for that good feeling Wink

AuntieMaggie · 05/05/2014 12:19

ismarah I was told to lie on my left side for half hour too if I was worried about movement

Becky2208 · 05/05/2014 12:20

I regularly wake up on my back ismarah, I'm sure she's just sleeping - try not to worry too much (I know it's easier said than done).

Patch I'm very jealous, I still have an exam to revise for that's now only 7 weeks away - I'm starting to panic that I'll never be able to do all my revision, get everything ready for the baby and stay sane!

icklekid · 05/05/2014 12:25

ismarah hope baby is kicking now, I've read if sleeping on back does cause baby problems you wake up before any damage done if that helps.

Well was glorious and sunny first thing so arranged a small bbq and now its cloudy! Never mind good excuse to have friends over and just relax rest of the day Smile

ZingWatermelon · 05/05/2014 12:49

Monkey

double pushchair:

  • if your older one likes to walk don't bother.
if they are lazy or you have to get to places on time get one.

I've had my first (Maclaren) when DS2 was born, by the time DS4 was born I had to buy another one (Mothercare)
In fact I the M'care one I bought almost 8 years ago, it's a 3-wheeler and still working well.

The smallest gap I had was 17 months, the biggest 3.5 years - but as I has to get to school on time (twice a day!) I normally used it until the older child was almost 4 or too heavy.

Exam on Wednesday.... Ug. Luckily DPs mum and sister have taken DS to the zoo today so the house is peaceful :)

I have work Thursday and Friday then I'm off til next year, whoop!

Now we're in the final quarter, I wonder who'll go first? My friend is 36 weeks and has been in early labour since Thursday....
