Yay, congratulations chemas!!

wm3010 · 12/05/2014 16:44

Congrats to all the new births, seems loads on here all the time! Sympathy to all still waiting, I was going nuts on my due date and so glad she came the next day.

It think it was Samba who asked about time, waters broke at 4:10 and baby arrived 11:54. I didn't actually get any contractions until nearly 6 I think although was feeling a bit crampy. So pretty quick really although it meant when things kicked off they really did kick off and I was a bit freaked by the intensity as had been expecting typical first time slow build up. Was 6 cm by the time we got to the hospital just after 8am. Spend a lot of time moaning about my stitches but if I'm honest if they'd said I could take another couple of hours and have no stitches or just get it over with I would have chosen the quick and nasty route. Ask me again in a few months whether that's still the case...!

One tip for anyone who has the big gush of waters thing, I got up, changed pjs and put on a pad then went off to sit on my birthing ball to see if that would help bring things on (maybe it did?!) but didn't realise that there would be another big gush when I got off the ball and then it happened again a bit later. Used all my clean pjs/leggings bar one that I needed to go to hospital and another that was in my bag for coming home with. The maternity pads just couldn't cope with amount of fluid so one to watch out for and keep plenty big towels handy. It actually kept going even at the hospital, I couldn't believe there was anything left to come out!

bushprincess · 12/05/2014 18:21

Huge Congrats moas, chemas and masterflea!!!!!!! What a baby filled day!!

Just back from lunch with dh and a friend then swim, trying to keep busy and pretend i don't not mind that bushbaby wants to keep hanging on in the warm!!

rebeccax2 · 12/05/2014 19:44

So many babies! Well done everyone and congrats on the little ones moas and masterflea and dobedobedo And wm

Had a mani and pedi today plus eyebrows. Feeling better. Mum arriving tomorrow!

Vikks · 12/05/2014 21:53

Moas, MasterFlea, Chemas, Dobe & Wm Huge congratulations to you all and your families! I’m loving the gorgeous photos that keep popping up on FB. Enjoy every second with your beautiful newborns. Well done mummies!!!

I think it’s funny how my name is getting closer to the top of the ‘still waiting’ list. DP, DS and I are ridiculously excited; the days are going so slowly.

I went into hospital again for monitoring today. High bp again so they've put me on Labetalol. They also picked up something in my blood and found protein in my wee. I’m seeing the my consultant on Wednesday morning and have been told they’ll ‘form a plan’ for me. I guess that means how long are they happy to leave me before they want to induce! I’m willing myself into labour, come on body don’t let me down!

Labour vibes to us all still waiting x x x x x

Chip86 · 13/05/2014 04:20

ohdearitshappeningtome · 13/05/2014 05:53

C'mon mini chip !!! Wahoo x

loopylou52 · 13/05/2014 07:20

Great news chip, good luck to you!

ClearlyMoo · 13/05/2014 07:21

Wow! Yay Chip! Sending positive contractiony and pushy thoughts!

Chip you shared my due date so I'm even more Grin for you. My baby just needs to get the message now.

Just found out from my Mum that it's my GDad's birthday today (I never knew him) so I think baby has disappointed her slightly think she'd have liked the symmetry of baby being born on her late Dad's birthday!

I'm meeting most of my antenatal class for cake today and they ALL have babies except me!

Trying to stay up beat. Still need to finish mobile I'm making for the nursery!

Had another little cry last night and guilt tripped DH into hoovering lounge at 10pm "just in case baby came in the night"!!

Walked up and down the stairs 10 times last night as haven't been out walking much. Didn't make any difference. Back to the pineapple smoothies methinks!

40+3

Congrats to all those who have had their little ones.

It's my EDD today. Am I the only person who doesn't want to go into labour just yet? DD has chicken pox (came out Sunday morning) so I'm hoping to wait a few more days until she's not infectious any more.

eggsnbeans · 13/05/2014 08:38

Oh no coke! I'm in no rush either (due weds), we sent sunday in hosp with v sick DD (she has rota virus) and the last 2 nights have been terrible, up with screaming, vomiting toddler! I'm not feeling great either, hoping it's just a bit coldy more than anything else but I've had strict words with bubs to stay put until at least the weekend! (Or even next week if DH gets it too Confused )

Yay for the new babies! so exciting to hear all the lovely names and birth stories Smile

moobaloo · 13/05/2014 08:50

Huge congratulations to all the new mummies! The pics on Facebook are making me so broody!

Good luck Chip!

Was desperate for my waters to go in the night but despite lots of BH and three loo trips my baby has stayed put. Grump.

My hips are now really hurting when I lie on my side, it's been getting gradually worse each night and is getting ridiculous now. Any tips?

Dp is refusing to Dtd until Thursday as he's got work on which involves him travelling an hour away until then and he doesn't want me to go into labour before then Hmm grrr bloody men! He did let me try out my TENS machine on him though and he squealed like a girl and leapt around when it was on the lowest setting. Haha.

Right. Off for a walk to see if I can further engage baby before midwife later!

Good luck to all those having babies and labour vibes to everyone else! (Unless you don't want your baby to arrive just yet!)

Vikks · 13/05/2014 09:03

Good luck Chip, I'm so excited for you! X

I'm going symptom spotting mad here too. Lots of knicker checking, I've been slowly loosing my plug. It's like in the early days but this time I want to see something!Grin

Spirael · 13/05/2014 10:54

No baby or indications of imminent arrival of one here, either. [twiddles thumbs] DH is happy as it is more convenient for him regarding work and paternity leave if baby doesn't until tomorrow or later. Looks like he's getting his wish!

My work would also probably rather I waited until next week, as currently I'm still technically on annual leave rather than maternity leave. But I'm sure they'll cope if it happens sooner.

Ocado is delivering pineapple shortly (among other things!) and I'm making a curry for dinner. There may be extra spice in it. Wink Also about to go and hoover the whole of upstairs. Operation baby eviction is commencing!

Tomorrow would be good - a nice easy to remember birth date of 14/5/14! If baby hasn't arrived by Friday there may be sulking - as that means I'd have tipped over to be more pregnant than I've ever been before. (However I'd still only be 38 weeks, so might still have another four weeks to go! Shock)

I have a MW appointment next Tuesday at 38+4, if I reach it. Do you think she'll offer me a sweep? I never got far enough last time around to be offered or receive any sweeps. To be honest I'm not entirely convinced I want one! Ask me again past 40 weeks.

Lovely to hear about all the new arrivals and see the newborn pictures. Everyone seems to be very gifted at producing particularly beautiful babies. :)

loopylou52 · 13/05/2014 11:11

Currently in day assessment unit being monitored. Had mw appointment this morning and bp was raised, plus been a bit headachy the last few days, and we'd previously had the concerns about size. Baby hadn't moved much but is now kicking away on monitor.

Labour vibes to those who need them and stay put vibes to those with poorly kids or busy dps.

ohdearitshappeningtome · 13/05/2014 12:06

Spirael my little dude has dob of 14/4/14 :-)

randdom · 13/05/2014 13:08

Baby has been incredibly active for the last 24 hours. Has just been pivoting and moving round and round. Starting to feel quite bruised :(

loopylou52 · 13/05/2014 13:56

I've had similar randdom - periodically my upper abdomen feels sore as if the baby's kicked it too much!

Home from hospital now - all fine. Had another growth scan which put baby at 6lb 8oz so happy with that! Smile Got a follow-up bp check with midwife on Thursday so just need to hope it stays down so I can still go to mlu.

Choppa · 13/05/2014 14:06

I'd like baby to arrive tomorrow...nice bday of 14/5/14! Still no indication it's going to happen any time soon!! Been walking and eating pineapple.

40+1 today. Ug

Hezbean · 13/05/2014 15:07

Loopy - glad everything is OK!

Spirael - re sweeps. The midwife I saw last week said they would offer me one at my 40 wk appointment (which is this Sat) but a friend who was having her baby at a nearby hospital said she wouldn't be offered one til 41 weeks.

Randdom - my baby has been unbelievably active the last 24 hours. But last night I thought it had turned back to back (annoying, has been the right way round for ages) so have spent today bouncing on ball, leaning over the back of the sofa and all that. I was wondering whether it's trying to get further down but can't so is wriggling around!??? I dunno!!!

Thanks to everyone for their lovely supportive messages when I was feeling crap at the weekend. The crying constantly phase seems to be over now thank god and I feel much more positive.

Rebecca hope you're feeling better too - I expect it will be really lovely to see your Mum today! Hope you have a lovely reunion.

Good luck Chip!

And MASSIVE MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Mums of all the gorgeous new babies in the last couple of days. Agree with Spirael, all the may babies are absolutely beautiful.

hugs to all xx

moobaloo · 13/05/2014 15:43

Come on babies!

Ugh. Had midwife today at 39+1 and she will do a sweep at 40+1 IF my cervix is favourable and IF baby is engaged. Blooming thing is still only 3/5ths engaged, same as 2 weeks ago. They'll do another sewer after a week and then induce at 42 weeks if needed! THAT WILL BE JUNE!

No way. I'm having a Maybie. Told dp if he won't dtd at least once a day I'll find someone else to do it with! (Not sure who... Maybe take out an advert?? Lol) grr this waiting is the worst!

hopgarden1 · 13/05/2014 15:57

You Can ask for sweeps from 37 weeks. I just had my second and I'm 39 weeks so it's possible! Just be a moody pregnant person and they won't say no!

loopylou52 · 13/05/2014 16:41

Re sweeps, I got offered one at my 40 week appointment this morning (at 40+2) but declined and said I'll wait till next week. I've now got an extra appointment on Thursday for the bp check so am thinking of asking for one then as we now know baby is at a decent size.

JodeyP · 13/05/2014 17:04

Reflexology started me with DS1 for anyone who's interested. It was also very relaxing. Good luck to everyone who's in labour.

Never had a sweep before as was offered one at 41 weeks with DS1 but went into labour the day before.

I love the FB page but I haven't got a clue who is who on there due to real names rather than MN names. Some gorgeous wee babies on there making me very excited. 10 days to go before C Section. Come on little Babbitt, it's time (pleads).

Not looking forward to the initial BF pain as discomfort though! Still remember how difficult it was last time.

ohdearitshappeningtome · 13/05/2014 17:37

Jodey there's pinned post on fb page with names x
