Ooooh wm! So exciting! I'm more than a bit jealous. Felt funny all night but nothing. Think it's all in my head! Just got up for hot cross buns at 4.30am as I've been awake over an hour - often means I'm hungry!!

Hope contractions start for you soon am and delivery goes smoothly!

WM quick question... Did you have maternity mat under your sheet? I've bought some and now I'm 39+6 I suppose might be a good time to put it on. I think I toss and turn (painfully) too much to put it on the sheet but between water proof sheet and cotton sheet might work - is that what you did?

Thanks clearly, am very excited so hopefully lo decides to make an appearance very soon now!

Yep, mat was under sheet and had had it there a couple of weeks. I was worried it might crumple up during my epic turning over sessions but it was fine. Also actually caught all fluid not absorbed by my pjs (!) so didn't have to change waterproof cover underneath so think it was well worth having there.

dobedobedo · 09/05/2014 06:11

wm so exciting!! I say this as someone with a waterproof mattress cover who hopes to wake up drenched every morning! Grin it won't be long until you meet your baby now Smile

Today is my due date! No signs of anything, but off to see the consultant in a few hours.

Spirael · 09/05/2014 07:51

Ooh, exciting wm! Sounds like we'll have another baby born before the end of today. :)

I am now officially in my drop zone and the MW signed me off yesterday for the home birth. So I am ready to go! Bring on the pineapple vindaloo. Wink Though DH won't let me do too many birth encouragements until next week so I fit in better with his work schedule. Bah!

I have a mat under the sheet in case my waters go in bed. I also have another mat with a towel on the top by the side of the bed to give me something to jump fall onto if I hear/feel them go, and a big plastic tub beyond that so I can step into that if Niagara falls seem to be occurring!

Though if it's like last time then my waters will go in the pool at some point just before the birth, so I won't care/notice!

Planning to relax/recover today. I went on an epic cleaning spree yesterday to make sure that the entirety of downstairs was spotless and the MW couldn't refuse me a home birth on any cleanliness grounds. I'll be doing the same thing on Monday I expect, as I've got the HV due then!

BTW, thank you choppa and dobedobedo for mentioning that sleeping sitting up was more comfortable for hip pain. I stole all the spare pillows in the house last night and made myself an angled pile of them to lie against in bed, so the upper half of my body was raised. Slept so much better and could actually walk when I got up for my overnight toilet trips!

moas · 09/05/2014 08:02

sarah, congratulations! Gives me hope to read a post like that! Welcome wee Alice!

nanny fab to hear from you, so glad all is well with you! Good luck with orthopod!

wm how exciting and just amazing that you had the forsight!!! You will have cuddles within 48hrs now, no?

Ladies, think I might have turned a corner too! Had a show last night before bed, woke up at 2.30 from contractions that have been coming and going since then, not been able to go back to sleep. It might not be labour proper but definately progress! Having faith!
Going in to get BP checked in a couple of hours so will see what they say then. vikks hoping that you are feeling better! This BP thing is so annoying, extra worry!

randdom · 09/05/2014 08:23

wm that is exciting!

I am finally 37 weeks and in the drop zone! woo!

Rigbyroo · 09/05/2014 08:26

Me too randdom! Flown by.

loopylou52 · 09/05/2014 08:39

Lovely birth story sarah, congrats again! The feeding marathon sounds a bit scary! Shock

Eek wm and moas!! Fingers crossed for lovely speedy births for both of you.

I am v impressed with everyone's preparedness for waters going, especially spirael! We have a waterproof cover on the matress but I might put one of the mats in too. Beyond that I was hoping I could just shout at dh to fetch some old towels pronto!

Ditsydebs · 09/05/2014 09:29

Due day today and no signs that baby is on her way:(( previous two were born by now so slightly frustrated and very impatient!! Off to the midwife soon so hoping she will do a sweep although still slightly paranoid baby isn't head down as she is continuously on the move!

Lovely to hear everyone's birth stories and those just starting the journey of labour wishing u all lots of luck for speedy births!

Hoping by Monday I am a mummy again as if I go to the school one more morning without a baby I think I will cry as everyone's comments on the fact I'm still pregnant!!!

Choppa · 09/05/2014 09:43

Ooo..lots of activity today on the thread.

Good luck wm and moas! Hopefully today will be your day!!

Dobe....HAPPY DUE DATE!!

Bush princess....sounds like we are in the same boat and we are due date buddies! Nothing much happening here at 39+4. I'm still predicting an arrival next week (15th I reckon). Lovely pics on Facebook ...I've been walking lots too. Come on babies!!

Spirael....sitting up in bed just for an hour really helps me! Last 3 nights I have slept till about 3 ish and then dozed sitting up. Then able to lie back down and sleep from about 4-6 when DS wakes. Like you said...I'm also less stiff when I do get up too. You do need lots of pillows though!

Think I will put a pad thingy in the bed now in case!

Right...I'm off to tesco for some more walking and buying nice food to munch on. I think I have gained a stone since I finished work...oh dear.

Choppa · 09/05/2014 09:48

Debs....doing the school run is doing my head in too. I know people mean well but the 'are you still pregnant' comments are driving me a bit mad. Might send DH later..that'll get em talking!!

Saw the MW yesterday and she said they would prob do a sweep for me next Thursday (I'll be 40+3)...please don't let it get to that!! Good luck at your appt...hope she is still head down. I'm still a little worried after baby was breech for so long but MW is confident that he is now head down.

kally195 · 09/05/2014 09:55

Morning all - labour vibes to wm and moas!

Good to hear all is going well nanny. For those wondering about mrsfoo, she is active on the Facebook group ATM.

38+6 here today. I really am starting to wonder if I am gearing up - had a madly energetic day on Wednesday, which finished with incredibly strong, painful lightening bolts into my fanjo. Woke up yesterday to find the bump had dropped considerably (baby has been 3/5ths engaged for a few weeks now, so I guess has burrowed further?).

Was in quite a bit of discomfort yesterday, along with not feeling great and lots of bowl activity etc.

I've woken up today with massive pressure and pain in my pelvis - feels like I've been kicked between the legs several times by a horse. Hips are fine, but my lower back is also a bit uncomfortable. If I move quickly (ha!) or cough the bump goes very tight. Bump is lower again as well.

Wishful thinking?

Oh and - if the pain I am feeling is even a little bit of what those of you with SPD have been going through, then I am even more IN FREAKING AWE of you! You are seriously all super heroes xxx

moobaloo · 09/05/2014 09:58

Awesome birth story Sarah!

Wm how exciting! Love your chilled out "waters gone, eating toast" post at 5am! We're all jealous lol

Happy due date Dobe and Ditsydebs! And welcome to the drop zone random and rigbyroo!

Good luck moas! Hope it is the start of something!

I had a rubbish night rolling from one achy hip to the other, bump felt so hard and uncomfortable most of the time and was getting period pains and pains down low around cervix/bladder? Hope this is baby fully engaging!

Good luck for babies being born today everyone!

dobedobedo · 09/05/2014 12:41

They're going to induce me tomorrow morning, if I don't go into labour myself tonight! Shock

MoominAndMiniMoom · 09/05/2014 13:00

Wow dobe how exciting!!! How are you feeling?

WM you sound so chilled about your waters going Grin love it! Good luck!

dobedobedo · 09/05/2014 13:17

I'm okay! I'm thinking that I'd like to dust and hoover the bedroom before I bring the baby home! Lol. I don't think it's sunk in yet!

I had an internal exam and then I went to the loo and there was some watery pink fluid. Waters or a result of the exam? I'm currently on a monitor to check baby's heart rate. Midwives aren't concerned.

Ditsydebs · 09/05/2014 13:27

Been to see midwife baby is head down but floating around so no sweep:( see her again Monday and booked for induction on the 21st! Hope I don't get that far! Midwife told us to go home and have sex three times a day, my husband nearly fell off his chair!! Worth I try!!! Lol!!

loopylou52 · 09/05/2014 13:37

Wow, dobe! How come they're inducing you (I'm assuming not as a result of the pink fluid)? Is it because of your pgp? I'm sure you've said before but I can't remember! Rest up today if you can - you're going to have a baby very soon!!

Plumber is here trying to fix the blockage, meaning I can't get in the kitchen to make my lunch. Not good!! Desperately hoping he'll be able to sort it!

rebeccax2 · 09/05/2014 13:53

How exciting Dobe! I'm so happy for you!

I'm at my wits end. I feel just miserable. My hands are agony - I'm in splints all day and night now, and I'm thirsty, and so tired from not sleeping. I feel utterly wretched and can't believe this could go on for another 3.5 weeks.

ohdearitshappeningtome · 09/05/2014 14:12

Oh Dobe!! Your gonna have newborn snuggles by the end of the week

MrsFooCough · 09/05/2014 14:27

Ohh hello everyone! I forget about the board here, (BAD MAYBIE MUMMY) as dobe and kally pointed out I'm v active on twitter and FB! I are ashamed of forgetting about the group here Blush

For anyone who isn't on the FB group, I had my sweep on Wednesday, irregular painful contractions/BH for about 6/7hrs afterwards, went away a bit in a hot bath. Thursday woke up and nothing, no contractions at all until watching BBCQT at which point my uterus clearly got irritated by Nigel Farage and Grant Shapps and decided to give me a couple of horrible painful all-round contractions. Then nothing again! Woke up this morning however and found myself a ginormous mucous plug! Nothing since then, will be just playing the waiting game as many have recommended on the FB group. Odd tightenings where usually period pains would happen, could that be the start of something I wonder? I'll be on my bouncy ball any second now!

ALL THE BABIES HAVE TO COME OUT NOW I've decided we're all v bored waiting Grin

dobedobedo · 09/05/2014 14:50

The consultant thought I should be induced cos the baby is measuring 42 weeks and an instrumental birth isn't an option for me due to the pgp/spd. I guess the longer the baby takes to come, the more chance there is of that. I'm feeling very calm at the minute. Weirdly!

I'm getting some back pain and period type pain now... Maybe I won't even need to be induced! Here's hoping! X

Hezbean · 09/05/2014 15:14

Fingers crossed Dobe! Baby will be here really soon now :-) Everything crossed for a nice easy birth for you.

MrsFoo - exciting that there's signs of movement, hopefully it won't keep you waiting too long (you don't know the sex do you?)

Exciting WM! Good luck, and can't wait to hear news. I've got one of those pad thingys under my side of the bed, just incase too!

Rebecca - I really feel for you, that's so rubbish. I spent yesterday and the day before feeling crap and down and emotional and just really blue. It's awful isn't it. The sleep deprivation had really got to me (and upstairs bl**dy builders!) but I feel a bit more positive today after a nap yesterday and a slightly better nights sleep. Are you able to catnap in the day at all? Have you seen your doctor? Any chance they might agree to get things moving early?

I just went for a pregnancy back massage - totally gutted as it wasn't one of those hole in the bed thingys! I was so excited at the prospect of laying on my front for a bit!!! Has anyone else had one where they have had to sit on a stool and then lean forwards onto a pillow thingy? Back massage bit was nice but leaning forwards and pressure on sore hips kind of ruined it. I don't want to tell DH that I didn't really enjoy it as it was a pressie and I don't want to seem ungrateful and he's so lovely. The baby was also going BONKERS in there the whole time and punching me in the cervix, I don't think it liked it either.

Spirael · 09/05/2014 15:27

I have a Holo, Hezbean. It's lovely, and my even lovelier DH insists on giving me a back massage once a week or so which I'm sure is the only way I'm still moving at this point!

All this talk about mattress protection reminded me about car seat protection. I now have a highly fashionable towel atop a maternity mat on my seat, just in case my waters go while I'm driving around dropping off or collecting DD1/DH!

For those losing their plugs, I lost mine an hour before DD1 arrived. Wink Just to give some hope for speedy arrivals. Though I was already contracting and about 5cm at the time.

No symptoms here. [twiddles thumbs] Though DD2 has been doing her octopus break dance routine most of the day. I'm fortunate that reduced movements has never been a concern, though I am slightly worried that she's going to turn out to be a hyperactive wigglebum when she finally arrives!
