Thanks ladies, was going to get a lift to town for a mooch around as my dh is going to work for a couple of hours. Decided I would pass on that as don't want to be stranded in town if things do start to happen quickly (half an hour drive from home) and will just go for a short walk to get the papers in a little while (wearing a pad just in case). Feeling weird, don't know how to explain it, but could just be because I'm overthinking!

potato that sounds awful, hope you get some action happening soon as that must be driving you mad! Am trying to step away from the old wives tales and tell myself there isn't anything I can do. Suspect that attitude gets harder to maintain as time goes on!

PotatoPolly · 26/04/2014 09:53

Haha I'm just impatient and fed up of being pregnant! According to the midwife I'm in the dropzone today, but by my dates it's tomorrow. I'm going by the midwives for a morale boost!
I know what you mean about old wives tales, the baby will only come when he's good and ready!
kally I've lost hope with the crochet- I get frustrated so easily and I just can't do it!

bushprincess · 26/04/2014 10:46

good luck wm hope it really is kicking off for you - hope you manage to carry on 'normally' so you don't get too frustrated symptom spotting! but let us know as soon as anything more happens so we can cheer you on!

polly what you went through sounds appalling, you really should not be having any proceedure that isn't well explained to you. awful. I've also put on my birth plan that I don't concent to routine internal examinations, have talked it through with my mid-wife and explained that I wish for them to give me a good reason any time they want to have a poke around 'down there'!!

Have a good weekend everyone - rain has set in in earnest here in cornwall (should have known the sun was too good to last!). Have a hair cut this morning in preparation for weeks of neglect that will no doubt follow arrival of bushbaby!!

xxx

Hope its the start of somthing WM

MoominAndMiniMoom · 26/04/2014 12:36

4 days to write a good 2,500 word essay... I should probably apply for an extension but it's more hassle than writing the actual essay! The word count isn't the problem, the quality is. How do I write about a process where I missed the audition because I was in hospital with my scar, missed much of the rehearsal process because of my scar and missed the actual production because I gave birth two hours after the last performance - without including reference to 'personal issues'?? Hmm

dobedobedo · 26/04/2014 13:30

Gosh moomin, if I were you I'd speak to my tutor. You've just had a baby! That seems an impossible task!

wm things any further along? I had a show last night and this morning, some strong BH, but no pain too much that I couldn't talk through unfortunately. Let us know how you're getting on!

I'm sick of people asking me "how long now?" I don't fucking know, do I? 5% of women have their babies on their due date, so me telling you mine isn't going to help anyone, you nosey tossers.

I'm very very short tempered lately. Blush

PotatoPolly · 26/04/2014 14:06

dobe I know exactly what you mean! I've become very impatient and short tempered! also with the tightenings... I keep finding myself thinking 'ohhh I could still talk!'

Ooh that makes 3 of us on symptom watch, surely somethings got to happen for one of us soon?! ikea hasn't budged the baby- lets try costco and lakeside!

MasterFlea · 26/04/2014 15:49

I had a lovely day out in town with the family and got my hair cut too. Feet, legs and hands are killing me though. As is the PGP.

I don't know if the practice of sweeps is different here in Finland but it has never been offered to me. But then, it all started itself around 39 weeks so maybe if I went over 40 weeks they might have.

But surely you can just say no if it offered and you don't want it.
I'm putting it in my birth notes to have as little interference as possible. I hate examinations anyway and PGP makes it even more painful.

kally195 · 26/04/2014 18:25

Halfway through my last shift. Have had lots of lovely belly rubs and well wishes - and the team brought in enough food to feed an army (shame I can't eat very much of it - no room!).

The monster is being very active - lots of squirming, pushing and cervix-punching.

I don't know if any of you remember, but a while back I had a rant about FIL and his weird comments/behaviour over Christmas (indicating a complete lack of boundaries etc). DH is still holding to his "what I want goes after the birth, and sod who we upset" statement. I think he may have been more upset with them than I realised - we haven't seen them since Christmas and I don't think he has been in touch very much at all. It will be interesting to see what contact we get as my due date approaches.

ClearlyMoo · 26/04/2014 19:18

Hello all - espesh to the symptom watchers. Got distracted on MN this morning as I discovered someone I know IRL on AIBU and couldn't stop reading! Naughty me! She even put how much she earns on here! Ha ha she's probably found me too! Doh! I love MN anonymity!

Operation pineapple stalk has not worked so far except for return of BH which seem to occur every time I stand up... I have bought another pineapple for tomorrow and have actual raspberry leaf tea as well as the tablets.

YAY took DH to shiny new Waitrose and he let me buy Ben & Jerry's and a bath duck that says HOT on it's bottom if the bath is too hot (previously wasn't allowed a floating bear bath thermometer), it was only £2.49!

I know sex and / or nipple thingy would be a good idea right now but I'm just so "unwieldy" and sensitive!

38 weeks today!

Moomin I can't believe you're writing an essay. You're amazing!

wm3010 · 26/04/2014 19:30

dobe nothing much to report here I'm afraid, still feeling weird and a bit crampy with a really hard bump most of the time but nothing more definite. Dh and I went for a decent walk just now, hoping might move things along - I was fine when had no symptoms of labour but this is now driving me crazy, I want someone to invent a labour test, like the pg tests which tell you how many weeks on you are but this time to tell you how long until birth! Hope one of us goes into labour soon...

Must say it's great to have you guys to share with, haven't spoken to anyone else apart from dh as can't stand thought of everyone checking all the time to see if anything is progressing!

moomin don't think I could manage an essay right now never mind with a newborn, you are incredible!

moas · 26/04/2014 20:03

Drinking 2 pints of raspberry tea a day here, I really like it as ice tea, with a bit of honey and lemon. Not doing anything so far...
Had sex this afternoon. Not doing anything so far...
Ate a whole pineapple yesterday. Not doing anything so far...

MasterFlea · 26/04/2014 20:09

Grin moas your list made me laugh.

I freaked DH out this afternoon by timing the BH this evening. Looks like I might have to censor how much I tell him.

kally195 · 26/04/2014 20:18

I'm on the raspberry leaf tea as well - will start taking the capsules as soon I as I remember where on earth I stashed them... Am I right in thinking that the rasberry leaf isn't meant to bring on labour, but is meant to make contractions more effective and labour a bit easier? Have I got that completely wrong?

Quite strong BH here today - and monster hiccups on the go at the mo as well.

hobbjobb · 26/04/2014 20:26

I'm taking raspberry leaf capsules. You're right kally they are meant to tone your uterus ready for labour and speed up the second stage (pushing)
Here's hoping they work!

Holland and Barrett had them on offer last time I as in so I got a couple of big jars.

I'm at 35+6 today and feeling huuuuge like I may pop. Also having some weird twinges in my cervix area but who knows what that is, so,etching tells me I won't labour naturally til they induce me in a couple of weeks.

dobedobedo · 26/04/2014 20:32

Kally, good luck for the rest of your shift! As far as I'm aware, rlt makes contractions more effective.

Today I had a spate of BH which were 4 minutes apart and sore. But I tested and I could easily talk through them. And then after two hours, they just stopped. It's so fucking annoying!

Might even let dh have sex on me later if it will move things along! I want this damn baby OUT NOW! The thought of having two more weeks of this makes me want to kill things.

kally195 · 26/04/2014 20:48

thanks dobe and hobb goes back to drinking yummy RLtea

hobb I've been getting those twinges since about 35 weeks as well - midwife said it was baby pushing (she is head down and engaged).

dobe I am currently being very mean and having great fun freaking out the team with my BH! Definitely getting more uncomfortable...

bushprincess · 26/04/2014 21:39

That's what I've read kally keep meaning to get some as a little help in labour won't go amiss!

Laughing at your list moas! I'm in the opposite boat -mission "keep baby in till dh back in the country"!!

On that note had a lovely message from him earlier saying he was physically aching being apart from me (awwwww!) and thinks he might come over next weekend!, which would be wonderful!!!

If he does come back then though I'd only be 38 +4 so theoretically Bushbbaby could still not turn up for 3 wks+ ..... how rubbish if he had tofly back to work when baby is less than a week old!!!!

Still debating but my gut instinct is to get him back here now.... then all natural induction techniques will be employed!!,

Night all, hope everyone sleeps better tonight (we can hope!) Xx

kally195 · 26/04/2014 22:27

Just under three hours of my last shift to go.... I've just handed in my warrant and passes - it all feels very weird!

Cannot wait to take these steel toe-capped boots off for the last time - my feet are SO HOT!!

Hope you all sleep well tonight - I am hoping that I will be so knackered that sleep will be inevitable Grin

ClearlyMoo · 26/04/2014 23:20

Bush baby you stay in for Mummy!

Kally - well done! Hurrah!

As for me. I've had a busy day so not noticed baby move much. Cue general panic. Then drank cold water and lay down and yes movements felt. Phew! Though movements are definitely felt -enough for me not to worry they are much "smaller" than recent thrashing. Could it be that at 38 weeks baby clearly is running out of space?!

OP posts:
MasterFlea · 26/04/2014 23:24

Good that you posted that dobe. I've been awake for the past hour with contractions every 5 mins but they feel like BH. Just got up to see if they disappear and they seem to have done. Your post put my mind more at ease. Back to bed now and hopefully that is it for the night.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 26/04/2014 23:59

Aw shucks Blush for what it's worth the essay will be absolutely horrendous, I'm aiming for the bare minimum pass (40%), and hoping everything I've already done this year will bump me up a little bit! I have the option of re-sitting the modules over the summer if it doesn't quite push me up enough.

I'm on 300 words so far. I think tomorrow I'll make the most of OH's sister and BIL coming and snuggling Callie, and try and get some work done! Grin

loopylou52 · 27/04/2014 00:01

Gosh, lots of symptom spotting going on here! I've been having random tightenings today and have been generally really uncomfortable. We cleared out the bedroom earlier and cleaned the carpet, which hasn't dried yet so we have to spend the night on the sofabed. Not expecting a lot of sleep!

clearly - I had the same thing. Baby was v quiet the last couple of days - like you said, enough. movements not to go in but not as many as I'd like. Baby is definitely making up for it tonight though so must have found some more space somehow!

kally - hope the rest of your. last shift goes well. Sounds like time to stop given all those BHs you're having!

Night all - hope everyone manages to get a decent sleep.

ohdearitshappeningtome · 27/04/2014 02:46

I reckon there will be two babies born this week!!Wink

PotatoPolly · 27/04/2014 03:04

Just checking in after a visit to the maternity unit... The midwife thinks my hindwaters have gone, so off to the labour ward at the big hospital in the morning for more monitoring and another bloody speculum examination. She then mentioned potentially planning my induction if they have gone, which will also have to be done on the labour ward, not at my local midwife led unit which is where I had hoped to deliver :(
So... Please talk to me about your experiences of hindwaters and inductions! Terrified and excited in equal measures!
