Son't worry sassi, that's whatvi thought you meant!
Welcome luar, there are alot of us ladies here!

kittywits · 14/09/2006 11:43

So bad typos today

SassiLils · 14/09/2006 12:01

my typos bad too been trying to write messages inbetween seeing customers and my manager walking past my screen so I don't get caught

Quiet here today though so been on MN alot. It's all good fun

kittywits · 14/09/2006 12:27

What do you do?

Piffle · 14/09/2006 12:39

at your tearing sassi, thats truly awful.

I am happy for my kids to watch the birth
DS is 13 unlikely he'll want to is my guess and dd will be 4.5. I'm more worried about dp being distracted by her and abandoning me mid birth to get dd a sandwich or something
But getting some on to look after them while we go to hospital would be an even bigger conundrum

SassiLils · 14/09/2006 12:53

Piffle, i agree, will be easier to have her at home rather than get someone to look after her, plus quite like the idea of her being part of it all. Stillnot sure abaout her watching the actual delivery??

Kitty, I work for local council doing face to face customer services. on Housing estate in housing office at mo, so mainly housing issues, housing benefit claims and anti social behaviour complaints! stressful somedays but other's it can be very interesting and amusing

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 12:57

Hi Lunar Hi all usual MNetters
End of First Trimester!!!!!! Yeayyyyyy! am so happy I have made it this far, my scan is on monday really hope everything is OK down in the depths..
Still feel like dog poo though.

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:02

Also I was thinking of a water birth can you have these for a first baby? I need to ask my MW but I think she will say no, she is a no nonsense lady!

kittywits · 14/09/2006 13:07

penny, you can have what you like!!

Piffle · 14/09/2006 13:09

sassi for me its more that I give birth about 35 minutes after getting the first painful contraction
I was asleep one hur before delivering dd
Our midwife unit is 40 minutes away
No brainer esp if we ahd to wait for friends to turn up to see to the kids
TBH ds is 13 and more than capable of looking after dd in a morning so if worst we would ring PIl (one hour away) and leave ds to man the house!
But I really want to be at home

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:13

Great I'll thought I might have a battle on my hands with MW. Do hospitals have them or do you have to hire I know a bit about it but not enough.

SassiLils · 14/09/2006 13:15

Hi Penny,

I had a water birth for mine. The MW leading up to birth sorted of found it amusing, I felt like she was just humoring me. But when I arrived at the hospital I asked again and they seemed quite excited! I was quite a novelty in the area with MW and health vistors after that. This was 7 1/2 years ago so I don't think water births were so common then?

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:17

OMG Piffle, I want one of your Deliveries

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:19

Hi SassiLils, how did it go and were you happy with it?

SassiLils · 14/09/2006 13:19

Piffle, I totally understand your dilemma now! Wow, fast but intense. Do you take raspeberry leaf before?

I was 4 hours from show and delivery, only in hospital for 2 hours and i thought that was a quick one

Piffle · 14/09/2006 13:19

Penny I feel very lucky indeed, heaven knows how I manage it. I'm such a woos with everything else in my life!

SassiLils · 14/09/2006 13:23

Penny, Yes i was happy with it, so much so that I plan to have this one in the water again. The birthing pool that I had last time was pretty old and more like a bath, so could only deliver on my back. The hospital I'm using this time has a much more modern one and I hope to be able to move around more and deliver on all fours. DP is threatening on getting his snorkle out toget a good view! Weirdo

It was quick too, I did tear badly but not sure if that is because I seemed to go with my instincts and push quite hard and had no one at that end (as such) to tell me to slow down, pant etc

Piffle · 14/09/2006 13:24

No rasp leaf
I do get really intense braxton hicks from about 18 weeks, in the last 4 weeks they are almost constant, quite strong and knock the breath out of me
I think these do all the work tbh
For which I'm grateful

Piffle · 14/09/2006 13:26

Saasi no midwife help on the panting pushing?
Shame on them
I had a FAB m/w with my 1st, she told me to stop pushing as his head came into view, to pant fast and breathe the head out.
Best advice I was ever given
did it naturally on my own with dd
I also gave birth both times upright leaning over raised bed
And both kids were born in their waters - which is unusual. more like giving birth to a tense balloon that bones

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:35

Apart from taering it all sounds good, my sisters MW made her get out of the pool towards the end so she could see. I would want to stay in I think,..but I guess you can never tell until the moment, might want to use pool to drown DP instead.

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:36

opps tearing I mean

pennygaff · 14/09/2006 13:36

Ha I mean oops, oh god give up..

divastrop · 14/09/2006 14:01

hi lunar.
u ladies are making me jealous with this talk of water/home/whatever u like births.
last time i hoped i'd go into labour at 37 weeks so i could avoid the induction and do it all naturally.but it wasnt to be.

anniediv · 14/09/2006 14:20

Sassilils, I'm guessing you will be at the new Walsgrave or Warwick? I had dd3 at the new women's hospital at Walsgrave last year. There was a pool, but no midwives trained to use it as I recall. Not my ideal sort of thing, though! I get worried about having to get all my kit off in the water, how mad is that considering the mws spend hours looking at your other bits!!

kittywits · 14/09/2006 14:26

I would really like a home water birth this time. Last time dh put his foot down and said the kids would tear the pool to pieces. Probably true. This time I can lock it in the conservtory! trouble is once I have the first pains it's quick, not like piffle but quicker than it would take to fill a pool up hmmm... don't know what to do really.
