Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I do get v hungry but I've found thatI've become very instinctive as far as the kind of food I want. Like I look at what I've cooked for the others and don't want it but then really fancy marrow or something equally strange. Also I've really gone off cooking, not that it turned me on that much in the first place! It's not that it makes me heave I just really don't want to prepare food.
I was talking to my dad today and said if I was really really rich there are two things above all that I'd have, 1 is a personal masseur and 2 a cook!
Of course there are many other things, but those two stand out. Oh to feel tense and have a lovely pair of strong hands knead away all my troubles whenever I wanted, bliss!!

Rosylily · 08/09/2006 21:55

I would have a cleaner (my house is BAD-my sis recommends flylady), a nanny (nanny mcphee) and yes definately a cook!

I'm put off masseurs since my accupressure agony and I think by the time I've been worked through the pain barrier and about to feel good from treatment i won't be able to pay for any more, cuz it soon adds up. But of course if was rich, wouldn't be a problem!
Maybe a personal trainer would be good too, a nice gentle one though!

Rosylily · 08/09/2006 21:57

Flylady will probably tell me to get off mumsnet and go do some work!

kittywits · 08/09/2006 22:04

who IS flylady???!!!

morocco · 08/09/2006 22:46

hope you're doing ok, fatfox, it soudns a really good idea to try and get another scan and see what's going on. Symptoms wise, I wouldn't read too much into the sore boobs etc - mine are like that all the time at the mo, probably just the hormones. I had bleeding with ds2 that was from a bleed behind the placenta, that went on and off for ages but everything turned out ok. Lots of reasons for bleeds so try not to panic ((hugs))

glad all was ok tidyjane

lol divastrop at ronald mcdonald as father of child - can you imagine!

Rosylily · 08/09/2006 23:00

Flylady is a website you join and get tips and encouragement with getting on top of mess. I haven't joined up yet. Just found a whole thread about it in good housekeeping flybabies in kitchen zone or something. Hilarious. I must do it!

eidsvold · 09/09/2006 02:32

rosylily - my dd1 was the babe/toddler featured in the 2003 annual report by the Down syndrome association.

Hi everyone and thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I fell down stairs on Wednesday and am starting to think the bleed is connected with that, though at the time, I didn't think it was a bad fall. I had a sharp pain in the left side (low down, where baby is) on Thursday and now its a continuous burning sensation.

I went to bed yesterday at lunchtime and wimpered al afternoon - too distraught to go and wait in A&E all afternoon - thankfully, lying down had the effect of stopping the bleed, at least temporarily.

My experience of going to A&E (had bleeding in previous two pregnancies, 1 was cervical erosion and 2nd was missed MC) was that they prod you in the abdomen and then send you on your way i.e. completely fob you off. I do need to get a scan pronto - any idea of a hospital in London which would give me a scan over the weekend? A bit far fetched I know. In theory they all have gyneas on call and access to scans but trying to get them to give you one is another matter - any ideas?

Also, any idea if an early pregnancy unit would see me if I am over 12 weeks?

Tidy glad your scan went well
Annaspanna - well done and stick with it !!!

14+6 and praying

kittywits · 09/09/2006 09:57

thinking of you fatfox, how is the bleeding this morning has it still stopped?

fatfox · 09/09/2006 10:14

Kittywits - yes, so far no blood yet today, but just had to chase DS round the room as the was was being naughty and making DD cry pinching her, so that's not great is it? I'm supposed to be "resting". West London thread have posted some great links of where I may be able to get a scan over the weekend, so will follow those up and hopefully get seen.

TheBlonde · 09/09/2006 10:19

Fatfox - St Thomas' have an emergency gynae unit open 24/7, I assume most of the big hospitals would have similar
Have you seen your mw for booking in yet? Did she give you any numbers to call?

onilly · 09/09/2006 10:30

Fatfox, urg
I have been thinking of how you can get a scan over the weekend and there is a place near me,
\link{http://www.berkshireindependentscanning.co.uk/index.htm}
Berkshire Independant Scanning - if this link does not work. They were part of my research after my freak out after my nuchal scan, and were very helpful.
They are open on Saturdays.
Just to close out, discussion with uber successful US boss lady went very well yesterday. Seems I may keep my job after all. Feel a little daft now with all my paranoia over it. I guess pregnancy leaves you open to some pretty new funky emotions.

Good weekend folks. Fatfox take care.

Rosylily · 09/09/2006 11:37

Eidsvold You know all about it first hand then. Its years since I worked there and don't get the annual report nowadays. And I wasn't there for long, but enough to give me an insight. I was in N.Ireland branch, you know we have a higher percentage of kids over here because its so much harder to get an abortion!!!I used to have a ball going on holidays with the kids and doing workshops but my perpective will be different to yours I know!

Fatfox glad you are getting lots of info from people and I'm hoping and praying to see good news from you soon.

evenhope · 09/09/2006 13:36

Had my nuchal scan on Thursday and was amazed to see what was recognisably a baby waving both arms and both legs. DH promptly burst into tears and said it's real..

The nuchal fold measured 1.5mm which I know is good news. The only trouble is that I had to have the bloods done the same day so I've got to wait now for a result/ risk factor.

The sonographer was very nice but only semed to check the number of limbs and the brain. Said they didn't check the size of the nasal bone (though it clearly had one), and she didn't check the spine either. Is that normal?

She's moved my dates back so it's now due the 19 March and she made me 12+3

divastrop · 09/09/2006 14:24

evenhope-i think they only check all those things at the later scan 18-20 weeks if u have them where ur?my 12 week 1 was just to see if the baby had limbs and a heartbeat.
kitty, havent checked out that thread yet,im only allowed on the computer for 5 mins according to ds1!i dont do any cooking in my house, ive not done any since dp moved in.
did u get that book in the end?if so how have u got on?i just bought it today so i hope it works.

glad evrything is ok today fatfox, hope you can get a scan somewhere?

hope everbody else is ok xxx

13+3

DollyP · 09/09/2006 16:03

Hi everyone

Fatfox, an emergency gynae / early preg unit will see you up to 18 weeks. St T's won't scan you at the weekend, but I hope you have some luck finding somewhere which will. I have just come back from the em gynae again and, unlike A and E, they are very thorough and won't fob you off with a feel of the tummy. I hope you are feeling better and have found somewhere to give you some reassurance.

My visit to emergency gynae today was for my stomach pains / infections etc. Looks like the baby is OK but I am not. I have thrush again and my last swab tested positive for Group B strep so I'll need IV antibiotics in labour. I had another series of swabs etc today to see what is causing the infections so I can get the right antibiotics to treat them. Still feel sick. And fed up today - will be back on once I am a bit more upbeat .

Take care everyone XXXX

fatfox · 09/09/2006 19:05

Hello girls with burgeoning pot-bellies

DollyP - I'm sorry to hear about your nasty infection, that's all you need isn't it

I went to Hammersmith Hospital today after a big ring around this morning. Apart from having to wait 2.5 hours they were very good. Got to lie on an old fashioned maternity bed with stirrups (think it must've been donated by Holloway prison) and they scammed me with a very ancient scanning machine.

But everything was OK, baby moving etc. DH swears he saw a willy, but I think it was the umbilical. I have cervical erosion again, which means I will bleed anyway, but they said the bleed this week would have been caused by the trauma of falling down stairs - may have come from the cervix, or from the womb. And the pain in the abdomen was probably sore ligaments slightly torn in the fall.

Thanks again for your kind thoughts and prayers. That was the second time I've fallen apart on this thread (first was the days before the nuchal, due to my ancientness) and both times you were here to catch me

Thanks again and hope everyone else has had a better day

fatfox · 09/09/2006 19:24

PS Just for future reference in case anyone else needs it (hopefully not); Hammersmith Hospital have both 24/7 gyneas available and a scanning machine in A&E

kittywits · 09/09/2006 19:46

Oh fatfox I'm so relieved for you. Have been worrying about you all day. Hooray.
I'm currently arguing about whether children should physically fight in self defence if you're interested!!!

kittywits · 09/09/2006 19:48

Dolly glad they're getting to the bottom of things for you. I suffer really badly from thrush but have found something which works a million times better than canesten. It's called "threelac" and is a completely natural candida eater. I'll find you a link if you're interested.

tidyjane · 09/09/2006 20:20

Brilliant Fatfox welldone, I'm thrilled for you!!!!

I really felt for you because I fell all the way down the stairs on my last pregnancy (I was 7 months pg) and completely freaked out as couldn't feel the baby moving anymore and I went to the hospital and demanded a scan and the baby didn't seem bothered.
I was SO relieved it's unbeliavable so I'm so happy for you!!!
The worrying is emotionally draining as well so hopefully you'll rest as much as you can now and relax.

Evenhope, on my scan report it says: fetal heart action present.
Crown-rump lenght: 46.0mm
Nuchal translucency: 0.9 mm
Skull/brain not examined
Spine not examined
abdomen not examined
stomach not examined
bladder not examined
hands not examined
feet not examined

I was slightly disappointed (although you could see that it had 4 limbs etc...) but I guess they can't do that until you're 20 weeks so I would say yes, normal.

After watching Eastenders last night I got a bit paranoid that the sonographer didn't measure the nuchal fold properly and started examining my notes again in case maybe the baby was too small (I'm only 11+3) to get an accurate measurement.

divastrop · 09/09/2006 20:43

hi again, ive just been reading that thread kittywits posted on here re smoking in pregnancy.it took a very long time but it was worth it!

fatfox,so glad everything is ok
and tidyjane,im pleased for u that ur scan was all fine.

fatfox · 09/09/2006 21:02

Kittywits - I suffer from thrush and so does DD so I'd like to see the link too

I'll pop over and have a nosey in the other hread you're on in a mo'

Tidy and Diva - thanks

Tidy -that nuchal measurement is great - mine was 1.7mm and that as described as "nice and slim"!!
I met a 43 year old yeserday who's nuchal result was 1:6,350 !!!! Her baby must have had a nuchal fold on 0.01mm or something to get that result at her age

Rosylily · 09/09/2006 21:37

Fatfox-It seems strange to be saying 'I'm glad you have a cervical erosion' but when the alternative was a mc then its great news!!! I hope you can have a good rest now!

I don't ever get thrush luckily but have often heard that live yoghurt is really helpfull in the fight to get rid of it. Of course its really common in pregnancy isn't it.
What I do get is athletes hand if there's such a thing and a small warty thing comes up on my face (very attractive as you can imagine) and it goes away when not pregnant. but on the positive side, I get monthly migraines when not pregnant but when pregnant- free of them. Body chemistry is weird!

kittywits · 09/09/2006 22:33

here you are fatfox. it looks a bit pricey I know but it works for me big time. I don't take it all the time which they recommend because I find taking it for say a week clears it up for ages. So a box lasts for ages. This site is good because p&p is free. I use them for lots of things and they deliver really quickly here
