After being messed about hugely I have only just found out that nuchal scan are NOT available where I now live on NHS. DS1 and 2 both had it down in different location. Have tried to get the test down privately but the private people (Berkshire Independent Scanning by conicidence) say I am too far gone ie 13+5. Midwife told me I was only 12+ something. I still don't even have a date for a dating scan even. Have missed boat I guess. Am cross as kept phoning up harassig midwives since mid sept and being told - don't worry plenty of time (but they meant blood test at 16 weeks). Have cried and scared midwife(!) and promptly got consultant appointment next Thurs. May get a scan of some sort then. Doh. A mess.

HOOOOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY...

Finally landed in the UK last night after an ardous 22 hour journey. Kids were great though and were really well behaved on the plane. Not sure how I am going to do the journey with three though ??? How do you guys with 3/4/5/6 kids cope going anywhere ??

SALT AND VINEGAR CRISPS ROCK !!

Nice to catch up on all your news.

Fatfox - hope your bleeding has stopped and that you are feeling OK.

Kittywits - thanks for the Primark update - will probably pop in there this week- although my ebay bargains were awaiting me last night when I arrived .

Prof Yaff - thanks for the Blackberry tip off - will go for a nice walk on the downs tommorow and collect a big bix - then drop them off with the MIL with a large hint for crumble !!

Really pleased to be back, and seeing the midwife tommorow afternoon for a first appointment. Have decided to see UK and Sri Lankan services so I can keep my options open about where to give birth. Have a very horrible feeling they still use stirrups in Sri Lanka.... IMO stirrups should only be used when riding a horse !!!!

13+2

kittywits · 10/09/2006 09:47

laidbackinasia , how do I cope travelling with 5 + kids? Ummm... I don't go anywhere, oh that's not true, went to the isle of wight this summer and that was fine.

fatfox · 10/09/2006 09:56

Laidack - welcome back to the UK and glad the journey went OK at least its nice and sunny -how long are you here for, is it 3 weeks?

Themum - that's really annoying isn't it? Are you going to go for the blood tests at 16 weeks then? Don't forget that the 20 week anomoly scan can also reveal a lot so they'll have a good look at the baby then. Try not to worry too much the baby will be fine, trust me, the vast majority of babies are healthy

Kitty - thanks for that link. Next time I go down with it, I'll get some. I usually get thrush towards the end of PGcy.
Kitty - while we're on the subject, have you ever heard of breast thrush? I had it really bad with DS, as I kept getting mastitis when BF and I kept being given anti-biotics, which caused mouth thrush in DS and breast thrush in me. (I didn't get it with DD as I'd learnt how to clear blocked ducts by then). I was just interested - at the time I discovered that 50% of the medical establishment doesn't even recognise that breast thrush exists, which made it really difficult to get any medication (Nystatin was what I used).

Hope everyone is feeling well today and managed to get a lie in

15 weeks today

divastrop · 10/09/2006 10:16

morning ladies,
LBIA,does that mean we are free to talk about crisps again?i'd gone off them but i couldve killed for a pack of prawn cocktail last night.

i keep having recurring dreams about disused railway lines for some reason.i think id rather have the erotic ones!

kitty-is that thrush treatment available in chemists?i dont have the facilities to purchase things online.i also get repeated infections and canesten isnt working very well.

fatfox · 10/09/2006 10:24

Diva

When I was in the hospital yeserday I was DYING for some crisps - but they had to be Walkers ready salted.

My heart leapt when I spotted the goodies machine in the corner of the waiting room, full of unhealhy snacks. The machine was working, I had 50p in change, which I shoved in, and waited exitedly...and out came....cheese and onion crisps- yuk

I'd pressed the wrong button

kittywits · 10/09/2006 10:50

Hi Diva, I think threelac is only avaiable online .
Is there someone who could buy it for you? It really does work. I also just found this useful website which explains about about threelac and why it works so well
here

kittywits · 10/09/2006 10:53

Fatfox I think I had that a bit whilst bf DS1 as he had oral thrush and passed it on to me so to speak. I think we were given the usual stuff. I wasn't considered unusual. Threelac would certainly sort it out.
Hey I could become a threelac salesperson except I'm too lazy !

fatfox · 10/09/2006 10:58

No - too busy (on MN)!!

Rosylily · 10/09/2006 12:32

apparently in caveman days salt was hard to come by so we have a primitive urge for salt. This is my sisters theory from somewhere. I was trying to work out why mother nature would make us crave unhealthy rubbish when pregnant! I have a multipack and I've demolished all the salt and vinegar so now I am settling for second best with the other flavours!
14 weeks today.

divastrop · 10/09/2006 15:09

i only crave unhealthy things when im expecting boys-with dd2 all i wanted was salads and poached eggs.with ds1 it was pickled onion monter munch(i used to eat 6 packs a day)and corned beef+cheese spread sarnies, which i also craved with ds2.that and curry.
all ive craved this time are vanilla slices, big macs and now prawn cocktail crisps.

im making myself hungry.

hope everybody's ok today xxx

fatfox · 10/09/2006 15:22

oooh pleeeze stop talking about crisps - you've got me visualising the ready salted ones again now

kittywits · 10/09/2006 17:23

Dp always complains that when I'm preg all my salad dressings taste like pure vinegar. I think they taste fab, lovely and sour!! I think preg women must really like that salt, sour taste. I'm definitely overdoing it with the baby plum tomatoes at the mo, it can't be good, but could be worse.
Has everything settled down now fatfox?
12+4

kittywits · 10/09/2006 17:29

BTW I'm still really paranoid that there's no baby there. My boobs haven't grown at all and still look like fried eggs, they're not sore and I don't feel sick. I just feel fat. Is there anyone who feels this way or is it just me?
If it's still ok I know I'll feel alot happier when I can feel movements in a couple of weeks.
We told the kids yesterday, so it'll be all round the school playground by tomorrow afternoon . They were unanimous that they wanted a boy this time. Oh dear. Last time when I announced I was having another girl ds2 screamed and cried and then shouted "Not another woman," and ran out of the kitchen crying loudly!

fatfox · 10/09/2006 18:46

Kitywits - agree about the salt. One of my fave things at the moment is tomato sandwiches. The toms have to be organic or at least those very tasty ones, and the bread has to be white sliced (boo! hiss! I hear )

Actually, "Jamie" says its OK to eat white bread, so that's OK then

I thought I felt a flutter today but not sure if lardies like me are supposed to feel the quickening this early.

The bleeding has stopped now - can't remember if I mentioned it, but the gynea said I have cervical erosion again, which means I will bleed lightly from time to time. I'm glad I found out now, as it will save a lot of worrying next time I see a smidge of red.

Where is everyone else - are you all out enjoying the sun?

fatfox · 10/09/2006 18:47

Kitty - how many girls do you have and how many boys?

divastrop · 10/09/2006 19:20

fatfox-i thought i felt the baby move today,i know im a bit behind u dates-wise though!dp said 'its a bit early, isnt it?' but i felt a definite couple of light kicks.im certain im having another boy,i was just 14 weeks when i felt ds2 move 1st time and that was a kick, whereas the girls were fluttery.ive gone boy, girl, boy, girl so it should be a boy this time.
have to wait till late october to find out!

kitty,my older 2 knew i was pg right from the start cos they noseyed in the carrier bag i brought the test home in and dd1 said'i take it u didnt get ur period, then?' and they demanded to know the result!

Piffle · 10/09/2006 20:17

Have just read the weekends posting and man, so much to catch up on
Fat fox - so relieved for you
TidyJane - glad your scan went well

You ladies and your crisps - they turn my stomach - I'm not a crisp eater when not preggers though either...
Got my nuchal scan on Tuesday morning - it's not done in our county but due to dd having Noonan Syndrome (it can show up as nuchal thickening) we have been sent over to Nottingham for a proper scan. I'll be 12+4

I'm feeling alright, tiredness is a bummer though.
Went out with dp and the kids all afternoon for picnic at local stately home - was fab
weather = perfect, cricket on the lawns, archery trials and a good couple of hours on all the playground slides and climbing frames
Topped off with an icecream
Wonderful
Came home, collapsed for an hour in bed

kittywits · 10/09/2006 20:40

fatfox :eldest 2 are boys, youngest three are girls

fatfox · 10/09/2006 20:47

Kittywits - I can now see why the boys think the women are taking over

Piffle - let us now how your scan goes on Tuesday - good luck

Rosylily · 10/09/2006 21:39

Hi Piffle, what is noonan syndrome?

I am not usually a crisp person, love chocolate but have gone clean off it. The sour thing is definately big for me. I have been guzzling grapefruit juice. And tomatoes yum! But that is a healthy craving they are really good for you. gherkins and capers today slurp.

the hospital i'm booked into has a policy of not telling people the sex of the baby. But I'll have my eyes peeled for clues at the 20wk scan.

fatfox · 11/09/2006 07:15

Rosylily - when we went for DS's 20 week scan, the nurse helpfully said, "would you like to know the sex of your baby"? At precisely that moment, an image of a boy's knob appeared on the screen

Hopefully you might be ale to see anyway

onilly · 11/09/2006 10:05

hi all

I am having a crisis..please help ! ..all weekend I have been having the most incredible cramps and lower back pain. There has been no bleeding. This has been coupled with MS symptoms disappearing. Phoned my midwife and she is not concerned. I am though - instinctively this does not feel right. However, could these pains be associated to something else, do you guys get pain - she thought it could be "growing pains" ?
The pain has stopped and there is no blood. Am I freaking out for no reason ? I dont feel sick, but am very tired and very tearful

Good luck themum with your scanning crisis. I found Berkshire Independant very helpful although they were discussing results from Heatherwood Hospital. They provided the advice for free too, which I thought was pretty decent. Good luck.

Fatfox - there's a relief....

novadandypowder · 11/09/2006 10:11

mornin' everyone, I've been reading but unable to post, as it takes me so long to catch up with everything dd starts to holler. Now the CM is in I've got all morning to do NOTHING

So, lets see how the old grey matter is this morning...

Fatfox - glad all has turned out ok for you, and that you managed to get your scan.

MN xmas meet - I didn't know is wasn't dinner, but I can understand after last year why it's not. It's a shame, but I will still go along if it's just drinks etc, and would be up for dinner with some of you March ladies if that was decided. Don't need a hotel as I don't live that far away from the venue.

Erotic dreams - oh yes

Have found a weird but good cure for my MS - chocolate for breakfast . Got a box of chocs through the post on saturday and ate them for breakfast, wasn't sick all day. Had choccy cake for breakfast today (just to test the theory you understand), and haven't been sick yet. Also, had the most delicious dinner sat and sun night, it's so good to enjoy food again.

Asia - welcome back to the UK . I can't call you LBIA as to me it looks too much like labia (sorry)

Booking in with midwife on thursday, when I get my nuchal fold and blood tests done.

novadandypowder · 11/09/2006 10:13

oh, onilly - how many weeks are you? I get growing pains so it could be that, and have you been active over the weekend which could explain your bad back?
