btw, glad you're ok Piffle

SassiLils · 07/09/2006 13:07

Hi everyone,

I've been hovering for a little while.

Estimated DD 3/3/06. Having first scan tomorrow and can't wait, been quite worried as almost 15 weeks and it seems late!

Got DD aged 7 so haven't done this Pg thing for a while. Can't recall being this large last time either..hoping it's not twins!!

themum · 07/09/2006 13:17

Doh, I can just about feel the heartburn starting too. Was a permanent state for me from this point in last two pgs. Gaviscon by the litre and rennies by the bed for the middle of the night. I have not found anything else that works (including milky things). I keep finding half eaten packets of rennies in every drawer and every coat pocket - all left over from last pg.

anniediv · 07/09/2006 13:19

themum, have you ever tried remegel? because of bad sickness i can't stomach gaviscon or rennies, but these seemed to work.

themum · 07/09/2006 13:20

Still waiting for a scan date. Am going to get cross soon. Am 13 weeks. Flapping a lot as DS2 has a had a difficult first year+ and am really hoping for a less stressful time this time round.

onilly · 07/09/2006 13:21

Big day for me today.....managed to eat a whole baked potato for lunch, even vaguely felt like eating it and bonus - so far its staying down.... whoooo hooo. Am 13 weeks today so hopefully MS due to diminish.

Has anyone told their bosses yet? Any hints on this ? I am bracing myself - I report to two guy Directors based here in UK and one lady in US. The guys will be easy and are wonderful to work with but lady not so easy, unmarried no kids and very career orientated... I sense having a baby will be career suicide in her world and frankly would like to come back to my job (at this stage anyway) saying that though Boo - your day sounds FABULOUS!

Thanks Kitty for link and reassurance about the food thang. Am a weightwatchers devotee.... but could still be considered, erm, "curvy"

themum · 07/09/2006 13:23

Thanks Anniediv - you've reminded me that remegel did work! Although they are very expensive compared to other cures, so had to ration myself!

themum · 07/09/2006 13:28

Have been meaning to ask - a few weeks ago some of you were chatting about the name Tallie. I have been meaning to ask whether it is short for Tallullah? I love Tallie and am thinking of it as a possibility if next lo is a girl. DH is leaning towards Genthllyan (or something ?) which I can't even pronounce. Eek.

Piffle · 07/09/2006 16:28

remelgel are they the ones that have the syrup in the middle?

anniediv · 07/09/2006 16:31

No piffle, they are chewy. I found them really good.

Piffle · 07/09/2006 16:32

yeah thats the ones I used them last time as well, spearminty little square ones.
I had been racking my brains trying to recall what I used so Thanks!

DollyP · 07/09/2006 17:15

You can avoid the cost by getting your friendly GP to prescribe! I had Gaviscon and Rennie on script last time. I don't know about Remegel but I don't see why not if rennies are. There are also wonderful things called "tums" which are like refreshers but antacid so they stop the burn. Worth checking out.

Welcome to out massive thread Sassylils - good to have you on board. Good luck for the scan.

Off to nursery now. See you later

XXX Due end of march 11w and 3 days (i think)

Onilly - I told my boss last week when I was signed off and she said "thank god, as I saw you on tues and thought you looked terrible!" Know what you mean about career bitches though. Just remember that it's her problem not yours. Plenty of ways to stay in the loop and come back to work after the baby is born too. And keep telling yourself that discriminating against a woman for reason of pg is illegal... you can always wheel that one out at work if needs be.

fatfox · 07/09/2006 18:04

SassiLils - welcome - you are due the same day as me (and Booboodedoo and a couple of other I think) How are you feeling; have you had your scan yet?

DollyP and AnnieD - Remegel sounds great, can I get that on prescription? How about Tums? TBH Gaviscon makes me gag, I hate it. Mind you I'm living on lactulose at the moment, for bunged up bum

Nova - do you recommend the Xmas do then? Let me know if you decide to go and we can link up. I haven't decided yet whether I am up to it and need to check out the thread once more. I think the west London mob are booking hotel rooms to stay over - so it must be a bit of a rave! I wouldn't stay over though - too knackered to stay out all night

Themum - it was me talking about Tallie - DD is called Tally, which is short for Tallara. There is also a Talliesmum, but not sure what her Tallie is short for
If I were you I'd harrass the hospital for scan date - mind you I'm very impatient. What if you wanted a CVS though - at 14 weeks; they'd have to do the scan now for that anyway. Why don't you give them a call tomorrow and get a date, so you can set your mind at rest?

Kitty - I really dislike Mums who hovver around interfering in their children's playground stuff anyway. We have a mum at our school who watches through the playground fence to make sure everyone is being "nice" to their child. I also had a completely neurotic loon ring me up, complaining that DS was being "horrible" to her son - turned out they'd had some minor arguement about who plays with who. She obviously had nothing to do all day

  • probably has a spotless house as well

Hope everyone alse is OK - nice to see you back again piffle

DollyP · 07/09/2006 18:30

Fatfox - I am on for the Christmas do if you are. I won't be staying out all night either at 5 months preg but would love to go along for a couple of glasses of wine and a good gossip. Nova - go on, you know you want to!

Anyone else? THe more the merrier !

11w and 4 days

pennygaff · 07/09/2006 18:33

Has anybody experienced sudden loss of appetite? I am 12wks today and I have just realised I have only breakfast today.
I have no appetite, only want to constantly drink orange juice.
Anyone past 12wks experience this?

pennygaff · 07/09/2006 18:35

Dollyp how near the end of march is yr due date? MW set me at 27th .

LaidbackinAsia · 07/09/2006 19:01

Hi everyone

Just got back in from a great fish barbeque and drank about 5 litres of cranberry juice while everyone else was getting pissed

Sadly my appetite is not diminishing and I'm already eating for 2 or 3 or 4

Both DS's are so excited about coming back to England on Saturday - they have been running around like headless chickens ! Exhausting ! I am upbeat too - midwife appointment on Monday and then scan hopefully about a week after.

Kitty - is there still a Primark in Brighton ? - also does anyone know if there are still any blackberries around for picking - am desperate for blackberry and apple crumble .

Better get off mumsnet now and finish packing

Piffle · 07/09/2006 19:09

I'm contemplating the xmas do, but a bit its not a meal as drinking dancing will be modest activities at 6.5 mths gone

Rosylily · 07/09/2006 19:25

Today I went for accupuncture and accupressure which was fabulously fantastic. It was at a chinese health centre. The doctor asked me about sex in pregnancy saying in china women don't 'do it' during pregnancy!! and do I? sort of thing. Was that slightly inappropriate or not do you think? My dh already has me paranoid as he is sure the guy would be wantng into my pants which is actually the best compliment I'll ever get off dh! Anyway, then I felt embarrassed to say that I am still doing 'it'.

I was also sold 2 wks worth of ginseng and royal jelly for £20. I promised myself I wouln't buy any rubbishy mags anymore to compensate for my spending. But then I bought new. well its only 60p.
Not that I'm pampering myself or anything! 13wks5

fatfox · 07/09/2006 19:25

Piffle/Dolly/Nova - Is it not a meal as well?

Totally agree about not anting to drink and dance non stop (I have to be very drunk to dance in public anyway ) Perhaps some of us can meet early and eat, or stuff some food at home before we leave?

I'm more enthusiastic about it now I know some of you might be going.

Must check out that Xmas meet thread....

Laidback - will you be able to keep in touch when you're here?

Penny - I have a kind of bloated full up feeling all the time, but have been feeling hungrier since the 14 weeks mark. I totally echo the orange juice craving tho' - when PG with DD I lived on orange juice, orange ice lollies and orange starburst sweets.

Just going off to watch Eastenders - its a key episode tonight, with a litle Downs baby coming into the world. Might even treat myself to some orange juice and a packet of cr**ps

ProfYaffle · 07/09/2006 19:27

LBiA - tons of blackberries still around, my dd is currently permanently purple-faced!

Appetite disappearing nope. It does seem to have gone back to normal though.

divastrop · 07/09/2006 19:29

hello every1.
fatfox-im glad im not the only one who's still suffering from that problem, ive been chucking lactulose down my throat since 6 weeks pg.

i suffered babdly from heartburn when i was expecting dd2,and she was born with a full head of hair.i didnt get it with the boys and they were both bald till 1 yr old!

fatfox · 07/09/2006 20:15

Oooh I love hairy babies! DD was born with a mop of black hair, although she's blond now.

Anyone watch Eastenders tonight?

tidyjane · 07/09/2006 20:49

I did. What did you think?
My dating scan is tomorrow by the way. I'm slightly scared.

kittywits · 07/09/2006 20:55

most of my kids have been v.hairy, 2 have been baldy, the last one in particular, still had horrendous heartburn though (sorry).

I can't stop eating and I hate it.

I'm still convinced that I'm not actually preg at all just somewhat lardy, anyone else like that?

12+1
