Hi all - great to hear that by 2nd trimeister sickness subsiding for most!!

I am signed off work until 21 Sept, but can't see me going back before 27th.

Very tired and sick - nothing new there

morocco · 01/09/2006 12:19

hello again, I'm quite pleased to be posting 2 days in a row! of course, I'm supposed to be working, so that's how I suddenly find the time.
pennygaff, I know headaches are really common in pregnancy. I've been getting migraines and I haven't had them for years, and when I mentioned them to other mums it turned out they'd all had the same. But, the eyesight thing might need checking out just to be on the safe side. Pregnancy does funny things to our bodies!
glad a few more of us are finding the sickness easing off, thinking of the rest of you!

LaidbackinAsia · 01/09/2006 13:16

Hi everyone... your crisp references have had me ravenous and I am jealous - I can only get cheese or chilli crisps in Sri Lanka and don't fancy either. What I would do for some salt and vinegar or Worcester sauce crisps. Only a week to go. As soon as I reach Heathrow !!

Pennygaff... in my last pregnancy , my normally ok eyesight deteriorated; I saw an optician and he told me that your cornea thickens at the end of the first trimester and your eyeballs actually get smaller - hence the changes ! You might need to get/change glasses - so it's worth getting your eyes checked out. The good news is they nearly always go back to normal once you've had the baby.

Booboo - sorry to be nosy, but what do you teach in your school ?

onilly · 01/09/2006 13:18

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and first time pregnant too. Finding it all a truly interesting experience, and so hugely relieved to we are all in the same boat.... Especially the MS arghh.
I have a question, DH and I had our scan yesterday which was very moving, but our sonographer really did not give much away regarding the stats... where can I find more info on this and see how my stats fare? She merely commented that all looked ok.... can my midwife interpret ?
Thanks in advance
I am especially interested in the Nuchal Fold stats..

Jaysecond · 01/09/2006 13:21

annaspanna, i am in Surrey and they do the nuchal tests if you want them you just have to sign a consent form allowing it. I had one with my first as i was 34 and thought, why not, so this time (just 35) i just did it as a matter of course. The sonographer was a really great lady (unlike the one i had last time who was very short and curt with me) she showed me a comparison graph and how the results that i had got from the test equated to the reduction in my age, i dont think they do it as a matter of course, i may have just caught he on a good day. She even bought up the results i got when i had DD and showed me the comparisons there aswell. Thers nothing new or fandangled ( great word!) about it as far as i know. It just a normal NHS hospital!

Feeling tired today, went ut for a farewell meal last night with the girls, i dint get in till 12 30... may not seem late, but it is when i am normally in bed and asleep by 10!! Mind you i have an appointment to get waxed this afternoon, that will wake me up if nothing else!!!!

TidyJane · 01/09/2006 14:36

Hi everyone! Haven't posted for ages, so I hope everyone's ok.
I thought my MS was getting better but for the past 3 days it has been horrid, worse than ever, so I was wondering if it could be a bug or something!
It's bad before and after breakfast, before and after lunch, before and after dinner, and before bed!
Regarding the "headache" topic, I too got a migraine the other day (visual migraine as well) and I've only ever had 4 in all my life! Getting more headaches as well!
Jaysecond, yes 12.30 is late, I did that on tuesday night and I spent the whole of wednesday feeling absolutely shattered!
My scan is on the 8th of September and I'm scared. I can't help thinking that the sonographer might say: "there's no baby in there are you sure you're pregnant?".
Anyway, got to rush, I'm gonna wake up dd from her nap and we're gonna do some painting!!!
What am I letting myself in for?
All the best to all of you!

P.S: Has anyone seen "breaking up with the Joneses"? How sad I cried from beginning to end.

Booboobedoo · 01/09/2006 15:34

Hi Laidback: I teach singing and drama. All nice and fluffy.

Are you a teacher?

onilly: where I live they give you your 'notes' to take home: although I actually asked for them just in case they didn't offer. If they didn't give you a print-out of your results, maybe you could call and ask if they can send them to you.

Tidyjane: it's definitely baby in there: not wind. And I didn't watch 'breaking up with the Jones'' as I thought that watching a prog about messy divorce wih DH when we're about to have our first baby might be tempting fate.

Also I cry at Milky Bar adverts at the moment.

onilly · 01/09/2006 15:56

Hi Boo
Maybe I am being daft...I did get a print out with a graph and some figures.... but when asked the sonographer what felt like fairly sensible questions like, "what does this mean, is my risk higher or lower ? " she ommitted to comment specifically and said all was well... I guess I am really after is some more info on what the tests are about and what is considered high or low risk...... DH quite happy to accept "all is well" but I guess I am not.....

LaidbackinAsia · 01/09/2006 16:23

Boo .. I'm not a teacher by trade ...but am home schooling DS 1 aged 9 - which is great but has its challenges !

Ummmmm milky bars.... another thing to buy as I land at Heathrow

Jaysecond · 01/09/2006 16:27

ahem, i cried at the GMTV wedding of the year this morning, and i haven't even been following it AT ALL......... move over MS the crying at anything and everything has begun!!

onilly · 01/09/2006 16:47

Hi Jaysecond,
I notice you posted some info about your scan and tests yesterday - you seem pretty informed, any chance of a tip or two ? thanks... if not I will stop bugging you all !

kittywits · 01/09/2006 17:12

Hello everyone, had my dating scan today. All seemed well and they've put my dates forward again which is fab so now I'm 11+2 and due date is March 21st. i s was nice to see fingers and toes, although it wasn't as detailed as other scans I've had, I guess because this is a little earlier. Baby was very still, got the odd wiggle but other than that it appeared fast asleep!maybe this means it's gonna be as chilled out as no.5!
Wishful thinking

fatfox · 01/09/2006 19:33

Kittywits - glad your scan went OK Haven't exactly been fighting; but have told a few people off for being Sour Grapes on that schools thread Custy always seems to save the day by posting something hilarious in the midst of a huge row - and I can always personally relate to catholics who swear a lot

Onilly - HI and welcome to Planet Pregnant - this thread is huge; must have been nothing much on he telly back in June

Penny - I get really bad headaches too, 'specially around the eyes

BooBoo - your job sounds excellent fun - much beter than working in a boring old office

TidyJane · 01/09/2006 19:33

Brilliant Kittywits, really pleased for you! How lovely (fingers and toes)!
What's the milky bar advert about? I've probably seen it but not taken any notice. I really feel like a milky bar.
I haven't had one for years.
At the moment I cry at nearly every single episode of Eastenders (come on girls, I bet you're the same if you're watching, it's really sad, especially with Harvey and Stacey!).

TidyJane · 01/09/2006 19:34

What am I talking about, Bradley sorry!!!

fatfox · 01/09/2006 19:35

Onilly/annaspanna - they key thing to look for in the nuchal result is the measurement for the nuchal fold. Anything under 3.5mm thick is low risk; anything between 3.5mm and 6mm is considered high risk

If you look on fetalmedicine.com there is a really clear booklet which goes into greater detail.

fatfox · 01/09/2006 19:36

Who is Bradley?

fatfox · 01/09/2006 19:37

Oh, that Bradley - have they decided what to do yet about the baby?

kittywits · 01/09/2006 19:47

Has anyone who has been on this thread for a while know anything about bradleymum ( bradley thing kogged my very poor memory). I'll go and have a look and see if i can find her anywhere.
You know it was so silly of me when I went for the scan today 'cos I was CONVINCED they would say that there was nothing there, infact I said as much as well.
I still really hanker after wine and beer. My only food need is a chesse and tom sandwich . It's always been for those, everytime. I am also rather partila to wrapping whole cherry toms in rolls of wafer thin ham. I can stuff those in like ther's no tomorrow.
Best go and round up the little people and put them to bed. DP has gone out for the evening so it's all down to me but I get to watch what I want on T.V
Got DS1 2 gerbils yesterday, lovely little things. Then number 4 child sneaked into his room and pulled the cage apart today and one's legged it . We have really bad luck with small rodents.

divastrop · 01/09/2006 19:58

hi every1,
i gave up watching eastenders when little mo was accused of hurting the kid and he was meant to be in icu....i just kept swearing at her and telling her to go to drama school.from the sound of it i stopped watching it at the right time!
i live in cumbria, and nobody's ever mentioned nuchal anything when ive been pg and had scans.u just have a dating scan at 12 weeks where they just check for size, movement and heartbeat.
one last thing.....AT LAST ITS SEPTEMBER!!!
just had to get that out.

edd 14th march 12+2(i think)

divastrop · 01/09/2006 20:05

kittywits,i didnt look at the screen for my scan,i was watching dp to see if his face lit up or not before i dared look!i thought they were going to say that i must have imagined seeing that little blob at 6 weeks cos there was nowt there now.
i wonder what they did before ultrasound was invented?!

fatfox · 01/09/2006 20:39

Diva

My Mum said that women just had to wait the 9 months with no idea of the gender, no idea if baby was healthy ec...it must have been nervewrackin, wat with hat and no central heating, no TV and boiling terries nappies. Except hat women used to be told to drink stout of course, which would've made the time pass - well, the stout and the fags!

babycakes26 · 01/09/2006 20:55

Hi all
sorry not been around this week had nightmare week which culminated in a day in hospital today. Looks like I have had another mc so feeling fairly low tonight - bleeding not awful but scan not hopeful so back Monday as not 100% but more or less 99% about the mc. Sorry to bring the bad news - you have all been so wonderful on here and I wish you all well BC xxx

kittywits · 01/09/2006 21:12

babycakes, so, so sorry. What's happened to you also happened to me regarding the dates not matching. It's dreadful to have seen a live baby and then to lose it. What will you do once you know for sure? I ean will you wait to see if things happen naturally or will you want intervention. I know it's cold comfort but your body has sorted things out. Look after yourself, keep strong and well and I'll look forward to seeing you on the antenatal threads again soon xxxx

Diva, how are you? Are you feeling any better? School's nearly here and I know I'm certainly feeling more able to cope knowing I'll get a bit more head space.

madhide · 01/09/2006 21:14

Oh babycakes I am so sorry to hear your news I feel really bad for you - was just about to post and tell everyone about my scan today but now I feel really bad

Good luck for Monday
