Hi guys,

I've found you at last. Congratulations to everyone. So lovely to share these experiences and know we're not all going crazy.

I found out on Saturday and went to the doctors as soon as possible this week. It all felt like a bit of an anticlimax as she didn't want to do a test to confirm. I now know that this is normal but I must have looked so disappointed she gave me another test to take home! She said that I should hear from the midwife in a few weeks. Is this normal? It seems that many of you have made your appointments directly. Im 4+6 today and think morning sickness may be creeping up. I've hardly slept all night with weird feelings in my tummy. Haven't thrown up but feeling nauseous.

Honeymum I don't have experience of flying with morning sickness but I do fly for a living although not at the moment, of course. I'm sure you know all of the following but here's my advice. Obviously on a long haul flight you are going to dehydrate so this is the main thing you want to be concerned about. Buy a good few bottles of water (post security) as, with the best will in the world, you're highly unlikely to get as much as you need from the crew. If you can get any coconut water, this is great for hydration. I'd also take some ginger or mint tea bags. Wear something very loose as obviously everything expands when you fly and you really could end up very uncomfortable. If you are throwing up a lot, your main concern is loss of electrolytes so you may want to buy some natural electrolyte tablets that you pop in water to keep your salts up. Finally, take some food with you or buy something in the terminal. That stuff is nausea-inducing when you don't have morning sickness! Maybe try some travel bands too in case you get a bit of travel sickness or dizziness.
I hope you have none of the above, a great flight and a lovely break. Where in the US are you going?

Hi everyone,

Do you mind if I join in? I found out at the weekend that we are having our first baby. We've been trying for 9 months. From my last period, I am now 4 weeks and 2 days. My EDD is 23/12/14.

I think it's probably a bit early to be having symptoms but my boobs are loads bigger and are alittle tender, the last few days I've been a bit nauseous around mid morning (although I've now got a cold so wondering if it's related to that rather than the baby?!)

Is anyone else having cramps on and off during the day? As the days have been getting on they have been happening less and less and aren't very sore at all anymore. I'm hoping they were implantation cramps and now it's all snug in there. But can't help worrying its a bad sign? Saying that, today I haven't had any but now I'm worrying that's a bad sign so maybe I'm just worrying for the sake of it. Confused

We haven't told anyone yet, although we are desperate to spill the beans. We've agreed to tell our parents at 8 weeks and then everyone else once we've had a scan and know everything is progressing as it should. As lots have said already, time seems to be passing so slowly.

Somersetgirl1990 · 17/04/2014 10:21

Hi rejjie and mrsmac!!
I've had cramps on and off for the past few weeks which I think is a normal sign Smile
I've got my midwife appointment today, I'm 7 weeks and it's dragging soooooooo much, think I'm going to have a reassurance scan because I don't think I can wait another 5 weeks of not knowing how everything's doing in there.
The last few days have been horrendous for me, been feeling so so nauseous, only actually been sick a few times, one episode was at 2 in the morning coupled with diarrhoea so that was pleasant! I also have no energy whatsoever and feel like sleeping for the next week but when I'm in bed I'm really uncomfortable and feel really hungry. So I eat and then I feel sick Confused just want the sickness to go away already!

ffallada · 17/04/2014 16:11

Hello new ladies. Take 24 hours away from the computer and it looks like the list of us newbies has doubled. Easter Smile
Time is a funny bugger isn't it - when it comes to counting down the days till the 12 week scan (which I haven't even received an appointment for yet) time is dragging by. When it comes to doing the work for my meeting with my supervisor next week time appears to by flying and I haven't gotton much done at all.

There must be some cure to the nausea that we are all missing? surely? I've tried ginger biscuits, rich tea biscuits etc...eating lying down, eating standing up. not eating. Roll on week 13 Easter Wink

Somersetgirl1990 · 17/04/2014 18:16

I find it really hard to drink anything which I think is much worse than being unable to eat. Everytime I take a sip I urge before swallowing, not nice at all

ffallada · 18/04/2014 13:57

Hi somersetgirl - if I was you I might consider a wee visit to the gp - it sounds like you might have severe ms.

Somersetgirl1990 · 18/04/2014 16:58

I've been much better today, can eat and drink Smile ive got an appointment to see the midwife again next week so may mention it then if it hasn't gotten any better

Nat2Dec · 19/04/2014 23:20

Congratulations everyone! Please could I join this group?

I'm 5 weeks! My EDD is 21.12.14 I found out on Thursday I am pregnant with my first, 5 positive pregnancy tests later there is no denying it. Some what a little surprised as it wasn't really planned just yet, but excited now I have got over the shock. Telling my mum on Monday and got to ring GP for first appointment....nervous, excited a little anxious of what to expect.

My boobs are feeling heavy and sensitive, have waves of nauseous now and again but it could be done to the cold I have at the moment as I don't have much of an appetite. Have cramping several times a day which can be uncomfortable at times.

Hope everyone experiencing symptoms are not being hit to hard! =]

SassehMonsta · 20/04/2014 07:05

Hi Nat, welcome & congratulations!

Yes, sore boobs & nausea central here, but actually being sick not so much, though a couple of times when out with the dog I've found myself retching. Had acid reflux for the first time yesterday but very mild, and did a proper burp for the first time in years!! (so many.people have tried to teach me how and failed but yesterday I laughed and burped at the same time, bizzare!!)

I had mashed.potato last night for dinner which I usually love, but last night it smelt & tasted foul (husband disagreed). Was so gutted as I was really looking forward to it! I also.have lost my supersweet tooth & dont want even the tiniest bit if chocolate. Damn you easter!

Telling the inlaws went really well on Friday, my parents next weekend. Today we see a few close friends that dont know yet and are meant to be picnicing... Could be interesting.

Husband is superexcited & doesnt want to let me out of his sight. Said he didnt think it was posdible but he loves me a million times more now! Told him it was biological & instinct, he jyst smiled. Awwww.

Cant wait till Friday & to have an early scan. Period dating puts me due 14th Dec, but using accurate ovulation puts me due 8th Dec - we will see!!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 20/04/2014 18:39

Santa truly is bringing me a baby! I'm due 25th December!!!

Nati2 · 21/04/2014 09:37

Congratulations to you to SassehMonsta. (Couldn't remember my password etc from my last accountant so had to resign up, use to be Nat2Dec haha).

I have also lot my super sweet tooth, the lindt bunnies will just have wait to be eaten until I get a craving.

My partner has been so excited and proud, he has shed a few tears over the past few days...talk about emotional I thought I was the one who was pregnant. =] Like your partner he is even more in love with me.

Glad everything is going well with telling people. Have fun on Friday I am yet to do that, as Thursday I spent all day in shock and on Good Friday the medical centre was closed so ringing up tomorrow finally.

Enjoy your bank holiday =]

Somersetgirl1990 · 21/04/2014 16:42

Is anybody planning on having a reassurance scan? I'm in two minds about it, whilst (providing everything's going well) I would feel more at ease, I'm sure I'll work myself up into feeling anxious again before the twelve week scan. Having said that, I'd rather know if something has gone wrong. Buuuut I think it would be 10x worse if everything's fine and then something happens between the reassurance scan and 12 weeks.

Am I sounding like a crazy person? Confused I feel like it!

SassehMonsta · 21/04/2014 16:47

not at all Somerset - my scan on Friday is an early reassurance one! I decided I would much rather know sooner rather than later, and that an early scan with heartbeat at 7-8 weeks gives a 95%+ chance of a viable pregnancy! Then I only have to wait another 2 weeks until midwife appointment, and then probably another few until the first NHS scan. If I don't break time into manageable chunks, I'm going to bonkers Easter Grin

Somersetgirl1990 · 21/04/2014 18:05

Good luck for Friday Smile are you going to a hospital to have it done? The nearest place to me isn't in a hospital and I think that's put my DP off as his mums a midwife so he thinks I shouldn't just go to anyone as he thinks they won't know what they're doing Smile
I think I'm going to book one! I'm 7+4 now so might try for the end of the week Grin

SassehMonsta · 21/04/2014 20:40

Its a private one, not at the hospital, but the lady who runs it works at the hospital in the daytime, and the building they use is across the road from it. HB thought my booking in appointment was in April not May and that we would have a scan there and then - but no, so I've convinced him that we could have this private one ;) But yes, super paranoid!

Treaclepie19 · 21/04/2014 22:40

Hi everyone :) can I join please?
A bit of a nervous first timer!
EDD 24th Dec :)

Experiencing an array of symptoms. Not sure if it's normal this early lol 4w 5d.

Smudge1606 · 22/04/2014 09:28

Morning Everyone

Please can I also join?

My EDD is 19th December but I think that will change. It's so reassuring to hear all of your comments and know we are all feeling the same.

This is our first and it is somewhat of a big surprise, we both work long hours in London and have busy social lives. The only thing that is going in our favour is we have moved closer to the Kent boarder to get a city/country balance. I start my new job tomorrow after being on gardening leave for the past month, not sure things could get any crazier but exciting no doubt.

We haven't told anyone yet but I'm experiencing a range of symptoms. We're off to the South of France with my family in 3 weeks, how I am going to fib my way out of drinking wine and eating soft cheese I don't know!!

Rejjie · 22/04/2014 09:44

Welcome Treaclepie19.

What symptoms are you having? I had loads very early, even before my period was due and I realised I was pregnant so I think it's pretty normal.

Welcome Smudge1606.

My estimated date is also the 19th. Good luck with France. I just about managed to get through a weekend with my boozy in-laws (although we did come home 1 night early). I used the antibiotics excuse for the drinking and luckily no one noticed that I hadn't eaten any blue cheese; usually I have to be dragged away from the cheese plate!

On the subject of cheese, I'm a little confused about whether you can or can't eat goat's cheese. I've been avoiding it because I read not to but saw another site saying it was a good thing to eat. Does anyone know?

Does anyone feel that life was probably a lot simpler pre-internet when we could make ourselves completely paranoid with information overload. Somehow I doubt our mothers and grandmothers were worrying like this.

Treaclepie19 · 22/04/2014 09:47

Thanks rejjie
I'm having sore boobs, cramps, nausea, extreme tiredness. I had spotting for one day and cramps so also been to the walk in centre. Feel like I'm constantly worried haha.

Smudge1606 · 22/04/2014 10:01

Treaclepie19 I have had quite uncomfortable cramping too, I read it is fairy normal but still so worrying.

rejjie so glad I am not the only cheese lover! I'm sure I read goats cheese is ok but it's hard to know. We have also been at the in laws this weekend, every meal anyone seemed to serve had prawns in it and there was a 60th birthday so lots of champers, has been a nightmare.

I am a worrier in most aspects of life so not expecting pregnancy to be any different but must keep it under control Confused

Treaclepie19 · 22/04/2014 10:04

I'm the same smudge, off to have my first Dr's appointment today. I have so many questions she will probably kick me out haha.

KateJ28 · 22/04/2014 10:10

Hello ladies!

Very early days for me but done a couple of tests which are positive & work out that my due date would be 27 Dec, though will be visiting docs soon to confirm. Am slightly anxious about it though as while one test - first response - was really clear, the clearblue test result was really faint and not reassuring. Anyone else have experience of this?

Anyway, hopefully the doc will confirm soon and I can properly celebrate! Smudge, like you we have a busy London social life and so this will be a big change, but a really exciting one!

KateJ28 · 22/04/2014 10:13

By the way, I should have introduced myself and said hello! Hope it's ok for me to join. Just booked my dr's appt for next week :-)

On the goats cheese thing I read you could eat pasteurised and cooked goats cheese, but not unpasteurised - seems to make sense?!

BTW, I'm with everybody on the sore heavy boobs!

Treaclepie19 · 22/04/2014 10:33

Hi! And welcome :)
Yes! I've had faint first response early tests until recently. Also my digi is still on 1-2 weeks. I think we all get hcg levels slightly different so trying not to worry :)

KateJ28 · 22/04/2014 10:47

Thanks Treaclepie! You just want that really solid line so there's no question either way!! The first response test was pretty conclusive though so I think it should be fine - eek!

No doubt I'll buy another test or two before I visit the dr next week though.... In the meantime I have a nasty throat infection (slightly dampening the excitement), so just trying to keep warm, drinking hot drinks and taking paracetamol as can't take any stronger drugs! Bleugh...

Great to have this group to share it all with anyway, so I don't drive my DH mad with pregnancy chat! It's going to be hard not telling people in the coming weeks!

xxxxxxx
