So much going on for you Broody, but sounds like it's fab they've picked up on it all and are keeping a close eye on you and beanie. It really isn't long now then is it?! Eek, how exciting! I have no idea how I'm going to last, I feel full to bursting now with excitement and I'm waaaaaay off, so goodness knows what it's like for you pair!! Smile good job we've got wise old Vix to see us through Wink

Midwife appt went really well thanks, there was a lovely student too who is going to 'caseload' me and come to every appt and hopefully the birth as well, kind of like knowing there may be someone I know there (although getting quite carried away, got quite a bit to get through til I reach that point!) I'm 8+5 today, measured 8+4 yst which is exactly right for dates, due date=9th July. Still grinning like a Cheshire Cat! Grin

woodwaj · 03/12/2014 22:20

I presume the consultant is at the hospital? And im thinking you will at least be familiar of where your beanie will be delivered! How are you feeling? Do you have much left to do at home?

Onelife it seems like last week i got my bfp. It honestly flies by its scary!! And i would love a student midwife following me around. You will get loads of extra attention that a busy trained midwife might not be able to do!

broodysnoopstie · 04/12/2014 22:47

yep consultant is in hospital but on antenatal bit labour is upstairs eek!
Still a bit to do but if Beanie came tomorrow we'd be ok.

Are you planning on BF? I need to get a nursing bra or 2 and nipple shields.

xx

Broody yes I did have an epidural, and I always said right up until the day that there was no way anybody was going to stick a needle in my spine!! But after about five midwives telling I was daft not to I did. I have a massive fear of needles but it was fine. If you are induced and have the drip then my advice is to definitely have an epidural. You'll be fine on labour ward, everyone was super friendly where I was and if you get the chance to have a student midwife then definitely take it.

Aah this is so exciting. 6th July Onelife! That will come around so quick!

woodwaj · 05/12/2014 07:23

Woke up with a sore throat and a whooping cough dead arm!! Boo.

No i am intending to bottle feed unless there is a problem and bf will make a massive difference. I have bought the perfect prep machine and im a bit excited to use it!!!

I will have all the drugs in the order of the effectiveness haha!! 14 working days left to go till im off!! I am a bit excited!!

Vickyvix2 · 06/12/2014 22:59

Oh no Wood, hope it passes quickly and doesn't make you feel too ill.

Only 14 days left at work, that's so exciting! Have you got everything more or less ready? Nursery etc?

Broody, nipple shields are great to have on hand in case you need them, I used them for about 2 months and they were a life saver! Medela ones are good you can get them off Amazon. I actually found some pretty comfy nursing bras on Amazon and in primark, although they are the most unflattering things ever!! But they did the job :)

broodysnoopstie · 08/12/2014 18:37

Thanks vicky ive bought some Medela ones and will get some nursing bras.

Wood hope you are feeling a bit better

Its still a sore throat that doesn't seem to have developed any further. I can only presume the flu vaccine is trying to keep it at bay!! 12 days and counting ladies (I'm a bit excited!!)

broodysnoopstie · 09/12/2014 12:29

I'm just home from consultant appointment got a growth scan booked for next week when I'll be 33+5 :)

woodwaj · 09/12/2014 13:41

I presume that is just routine? If so yay to a free sneak peek. I am getting so curious for another peek but it's not long to go now!!

broodysnoopstie · 09/12/2014 18:27

I think it's to check how big beanie is before they book my induction date don't want to have it too early if they think beanie will be small x

OP posts:
woodwaj · 09/12/2014 21:05

Scary so you think you will know a date pretty soon then?? Try not too look at the scan too much or you might see what s/he is!!did you decide on a date for mat leave or are you going to play it by the induction date?

broodysnoopstie · 10/12/2014 06:03

I guess so! That would be nice to know to have an alternate due date but it's up to my consultant.

taking mat leave from 36 weeks so that even if I get induced bang on 37 I've still had a week at home

Happy Friday all Smile

Ever so slightly jealous of all this maternity leave talk!!! How fab ladies, enjoy it, it's been a long time coming!

Hope your scan goes well Broody and as Wood days it's nice to have an extra peek Smile

10 weeks here, still feeling queasy but feeling bit better now, did this happen to you guys? Even though only had the scan little over a week ago I must admit I won't rest easy until we've had the 12 week scan (and I already know I'll then be worrying about the next milestone!) Just can't wait to feel him/her move so that I've got that regular reassurance that things are all ok. Bit of a wait for that though Hmm

But we're planning on putting our decs, lights and tree up later today so that will get me feeling all festive, love Christmas!! Xmas Grin

woodwaj · 12/12/2014 11:10

They defo dont induce before 37 do they?

I know I'm banging the same drum but i cant wait for mat leave now i am just tired all the time and i have a VERY active boy in there!

What is the date for your 12 week scan one? Once both of your scans are done it will fly by!! My sickness eased off around 15 weeks and i haven't been sick since 20 weeks its so much better once it stops!! I felt baby move at around 18 weeks but that is early. Movements got steadily stronger from then and now he is trying to punch his way out of my side!!

Are you doing ok hiding the drinking at xmas party season??

onelifeonechance · 12/12/2014 17:22

I've been told the scan date will def be after Christmas but still waiting, I'm ringing Monday if not heard anything.

We've decided we're telling our parents and close family on Christmas day as can't keep it secret any longer!! Can't believe we've managed to for this long tbh. I don't think I've been this excited about Christmas since before I learnt the truth behind the man with the White beard!! But we will obviously let them know we haven't had the 12 week scan yet. It's just it will make it the most lovely Christmas telling them, I honestly don't think any of them suspect a thing. It's kinda worked in our favour really as they are all aware we were struggling to conceive and might be facing IVF so I'd already told them I was off alcohol as trying my hardest to be super healthy (which was true)- best cover story ever!! And I've managed to be the designated driver for the rest of meet ups with friends so think I'm getting away with it, thankfully no big nights out planned this year, more like meals at friends houses or at restaurants, so it's easier to use the driving excuse. Will be glad when we can just tell people - what stage did you spill the beans and did you tell family and friends at the same time or wait a bit longer for friends??

Glad your boy is active Wood but sorry you're tired, mat leave is so in sight for you now, hang in there, you can do it!!! Xmas Grin

woodwaj · 12/12/2014 21:27

You have already had one scan so you can't really get any better than that! I bet it will be the best present for everyone!! The Christmas countdown is on !! My best friend works at a doctor's and knew i was ttc so she knew on day 1. I told parents at about 7 weeks after our first scan and everyone else was at the 12 week scan! It was defo a relief to share the news!

Off to pick the xmas tree tomorrow Xmas Grin

woodwaj · 16/12/2014 11:23

Lost the thread just checking in hope everyone is well

onelifeonechance · 20/12/2014 08:59

Is that you all done now Wood with work? If so, woohooooooooo!!!!! Grin How are things? Hope all ok.

When's your next scan Broody? Fx all ok.

I'm doing ok, queasiness occasionally gets me but on the whole I've noticed a big improvement with my appetite this week (just turned 11 weeks) Scan appt 30th Dec, very much hoping for the best of starts to the New Year!

Went carolling last night, DH is up making mince pies, pressies all under the tree, feeling very festive, merry Christmas one and all Xmas Smile xxx

woodwaj · 20/12/2014 14:45

Nope im in right till xmas eve 3 days to go!! I did get the balloons and present treatment yesterday. The amount of gifts we got was ridiculous everyone was so generous! Midwife was Wednesday baby is in position no longer breech but i think i felt him move because his movements hurt compared to normal ones which dont!

I think a scan over Christmas would be so lovely. Id be lying if i said i wasnt tempted to see what he looks like! Don't forget your change for photos!! Have you finished now? I think you have a sickness free xmas!! Will you eventually find out the sex?

Broody i hope all is going well with the consultations and that mini snoopstie is still cooking in your belly!!

Vickyvix2 · 22/12/2014 12:59

Ooh not long to wait until your scan One! It will soon come around with christmas etc going on. I will be thinking of you.

We told everyone after our 12 week scan, the only person that knew before was my closest friend and she guessed because I wasn't drinking. I think it will be a wonderful thing to share with your family on Christmas Day :)

Wood, you're so nearly done at work now. That must feel great! Then you can sit back relax and wait for the little one's arrival. I am so excited for you. Did I read back there you are expecting a boy? How cool.

And broody, good luck with your consultant appointment, when is it? It takes me back a back a bit to when I had all of mine and was so worried about mini V. Hope you're ok, try not worry about anything. It's a great idea to finish up work a week before any potential induction just to get a bit of time to yourself. I did exactly that.

They do sometimes induce before 37 weeks wood, but only if they think baby will be ok, better out than in. I was induced at 36 weeks and mini V was just fine, teeny but fine :) so don't worry about anything Broody.

I can't wait for all these exciting new arrivals :)

We are all set for christmas, presents under the tree, and mini V is almost crawling. Still needs practice but she's so close, it's so cute!

broodysnoopstie · 23/12/2014 14:07

Little update whilst I'm waiting in hospital pharmacy for increase in medication for itching. They are admitting me on Monday for steroids to help Beanies lungs get ready for early delivery. I will need to stay in until Tuesday as they'll have to monitor sugars while they do it because of GD. If necessary they will induce me end of next week (when I'm 36 weeks) depending on steroids sugars itching blood pressure etc (now my blood pressure is going high too!!) Otherwise they will still try and hold out until 37 weeks. Things are speeding along!

OP posts:
Vickyvix2 · 24/12/2014 08:36

The steroids are a good idea Broody, they will give mini snooptsie's lungs a boost ready for arrival. Try not to worry too much, I know that's much easier said than done, especially if your BP is going high too.
Baby will be fine at 36/37 weeks if induced. I was induced at 36 weeks and mini V arrived at 36+4.

Really hope you have a nice relaxing christmas, what a lovely present for the new year though :)

broodysnoopstie · 24/12/2014 11:05

Thanks for reassurance Vicky. I'm definitely having a feet up Christmas I'm already so tired from not sleeping at night that I think I might become a zombie when mini snoopstie is born Blush

I'm finding it hard to keep my dp calm too he's got no real knowledge so everything panics him! luckily santa has bought him a book which might help!

OP posts:
woodwaj · 24/12/2014 22:39

Good to hear from you before it all kicks off! Have you finished work now?? Sleep whenever you need it an after turkey nap tomorrow will be lovely!!! I expect you won't be able to stop your dp panicking i think it's just the start of being a daddy!! I know someone that had steroids and defo for the best.

Hoping you all get spoilt tomorrow. Broody - feet up! Mini V have a magical first Christmas and onelife if you decide to tell family have lots of fun announcing and prepare to be spoilt rotten! Xxx
