sea I just re read your post and see you are in the big smoke Blush

sweet high fever is very worrying, is it easy to get mini seen quickly there, I have to say I used 111 on Friday as BB had blood in her ear, my calm rational self said she has scratched it but my neurotic inner mother said otherwise, we were seen within 40 minutes of me first calling.
4.2 kilos, picks self up from the floor that made me work my kagels, well I think the top teeth are coming, she is sharting for England so hopefully its all for something as she is changing outfits like lady gaga

sweetgrouch · 04/08/2014 16:16

Hi buzz - I can see mini's pediatrician easily during the week, but weekends are more challenging. I didn't want to go to emergency in case someone was there with a highly contagious infection rolls eyes at self. The 40 minutes sounds very prompt. I am guessing that the wait here would be between 1-5 hours.

I hope her teeth come out soon for your sake, it sounds like so much extra washing.

I told the nurse they brought me the wrong child when I was being wheeled to my room because I didn't believe I could push out something so large with no real tearing lol Blush

sweet I worry about BB catching things when I take her to weighed

sweetgrouch · 05/08/2014 14:21

free - how are you? You must be really close now Smile

sea - you too.

buzz - I understand the worry. I always wished there could be private waiting rooms for potentially contagious people so they don't get others sick.

OP posts:
sweetgrouch · 05/08/2014 14:22

ahh sea part of my message disappeared lol I just meant that you must be getting close too!

Buzzybee123 · 05/08/2014 19:35

sweet my vet has supposedly put in separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs Grin clearly because they are unable to be civil in the waiting room together

free any news Grin Grin Grin

sweetgrouch · 05/08/2014 21:17

The silence from free is making me wonder too Grin

buzz - that sounds reasonable to me. Someone's dog scared my cat to death when I was at the vet with her and mini. It was quite the scene, a scaredy cat and a wailing 2.5 month old.

hello! you are so nice to think of me. I still have 8 days to go before my due date. I have been to the dentist, got a hair cut. I have tasks on my list like, wash out the bins and under the sink, clean the bathroom, prepare maternity pads with witch hazel for the freezer. I've booked myself to see friends every day this week. All in the hope I'll have to cancel plans because labour starts. So far, nothing. Epi-no is only slightly edging past 8cm despite diligent steaming of undercarriage and tea drinking. Off to practice some Juju-skillz with MrFree... A silence of 5-6 days means I am in the hospital.

sweetgrouch · 05/08/2014 23:32

free - warm compresses were also suggested for me by the gynae (like magic bags) to alternate with the cold to help the muscles heal faster/better. It won't be long now, you must be getting excited to meet your baby. I kept busy too by baking and eating it was hard waiting so much around the holidays.

Buzz hv sound v silly. I know there are plenty of non bf mums. Bonding doesn't just happen because of bf. I also read the article about morning sickness. If it's true my baby will be much clever than me. Grin Yes I'm in the big smoke. I want to give natural a go now. Have been listening to the maggie howell CDs every night. Let's see where that gets me.

Free - I have been wondering how you are getting on. You sound like you are doing really well with the epi no. 8cm is excellent according to my doula. I must order it. Keeping active sounds like a good plan.

Sweet - hope mini sweet is all better. Wow how did you manage not to need stitches at all? Did you do prep like massage etc?

Euro - how's centime doing? Glad weight is going in the right direction. She will be home and in your arms all the time soon enough.

Not much to report. Had my 32 week scan done privately and all looks okay. Baby looks to be on the small side of normal range. Should be around 7lbs if he continues to grow as he has done so far. Both mr sea and I were small ish babies so not a surprise I think. Work is stressful and not getting a huge amount of support and disaster struck at home with leaks. Nausea is pretty constant but on the whole managing to keep food down so grateful for that !

sweetgrouch · 06/08/2014 14:29

sea - 7lbs is a perfect size Smile. I had minor (1st degree) tearing (1 stitch) after the birth from the gynae having to manually detach the placenta. I really didn't do anything special to prepare myself for birth, I think the lack of damage was just dumb luck.
I'm so sorry to hear about the stress at home and nausea, but at 32 weeks, you're almost there!

Buzzybee123 · 06/08/2014 16:34

free you are well organised with your maternity pads, never heard of the witch hazel though, did I mention Lucozade to drink while labour is happening, can't stand the stuff but it was nectar of the gods while pushing out BB

sea 7 lbs sounds good to me too, BB was 8lbs3oz and was rather on the largish side, I think anything round the 7 mark is good going

euro hope things are getting better for centime on the eating front, id not BB can have a word with her, she is the bottle sculling queen in the baby world Grin has the thunderous thighs to prove it

eurochick · 06/08/2014 21:54

I worry about catching things myself when I go to the GP, so that doesn't sound PFB at all! I sit in the waiting room, trying not to inhale too hard!

buzz your HV sounds like an idiot.

sea 7lbs sounds great. :)

free not long to go now. You sound well-prepared.

C is continuing to gain weight, albeit a bit slowly (not helped by antibiotics for a UTI, which have given her an upset stomach). We have had an eventful week. Yesterday she finally "got" bottles. She had been taking some milk before but was getting very tired and struggling to coordinate suck-swallow-breathe, like a lot of premmies, so had to have most of it down her tube. It finally clicked yesterday and she was downing them. She took out her feeding tube (again) and the drs said they wouldn't replace it if she keeps finishing them, so I have finally seen her little face without a tube and a lump of tape across it! I've also been continuing to offer the boob a couple of times a day and she is interested but has never managed more than a couple of sucks before, but today she finally got that too! Now she is feeding, they are talking about discharge soon. She needs to hit 1700g (she is 1635g at the moment), which should happen around the weekend, all being well. I'm so excited. I just can't wait to get her home.

freedom2011 · 06/08/2014 22:34

euro I am so, so happy to read of centime's progress. How wonderful to finally see her without the tubes and that she has managed to feed from both breast and bottle. Wonderful news - thanks for the update.

sweet thanks so much for the warm compress tip. I will think about how to do that.

It's kind of you to say I sound well prepared. TBH - I am going through these motions to get feel less frightened and less out of control. Activity helps me ward off panic.

sea 7lb sounds really great. How are you finding the Maggie Howell CDs? I fall asleep every single time. Must pay more attention.

Buzz you did mention lucozade but I haven't seen it here in the shops. I'll probably take some lemon juice and honey in cold water if I can't find it.

Buzzybee123 · 07/08/2014 10:04

euro that is great news about centime, it is great when when they 'get' something, hopefully you'll be home as a family :)

free I think any kind of sport drink thing like gatorade or even red bull, I honestly didn't think I would use mine but I did :)

sweetgrouch · 07/08/2014 12:45

euro - That's fantastic! It's so nice she is eating on her own - and breastfeeding! You must be so happy to see her cute face without the tubes and to be getting close to taking her home. How are you feeling?

Free - You are very well prepared. I understand the need to be organized, I find it reduces stress for me too.

buzz - you were allowed sports drink in the hospital while in labour? We were allowed sips of water, no food or anything else.

OP posts:
Buzzybee123 · 07/08/2014 14:21

sweet sounds very military there, maybe you are all 'well ard' over your way here you can take whatever you like, some people took the glucose sweet things

BB is sharting pretty much every hour nappy chnaging is a drama as she doesn't like to stay still or lie on her back. . .

sweetgrouch · 07/08/2014 15:17

ugh, the sharting sounds awful. BB is not alone trying to escape a cleaned bottom - Mini grabs the jewels covered in poo and rolls with every change. It would just be horrendous with that many sharts in a day.

OP posts:
seamermaid · 07/08/2014 15:17

Euro that's great news. I'm sure she will be out of hospital and to hone in no time. Hope you are feeling okay. Are you in any pain from the section? I hope not and that the surgeon did a good job.

Free - I'm most impressed by how organised you are. I have been thinking I really hope baby doesn't come early as I have left v little time to prep anything from finishing work to due date.

Buzz - sorry to hear about hourly nappies. Is bb unwell or is that just what babies do. Oh dear I really have no clue.

Sweet - I hope I get a lucky break re stitches like you. I ordered the epi - no today. I figure it can't hurt to try.

Not much to report here except I have a very active baby. At a meeting today colleagues commented on how my belly was moving. It seems my babe never sleeps and is constantly moving around. Did you ladies all find this too?

Buzzybee123 · 07/08/2014 17:40

sea I have a baby and fecked if I know Hmm, they will poo alot to start with but then it calms down, I think it might be teething maybe weaning all I know is I now official hate nappy changing Hmm
I thought it was that they slept when you were moving and then woke up when you were resting and wanting to go to sleep, BB came alive in the evenings when I was settling down, and in the night too

sea I am glad I am not the only one with poo everywhere, the sharting is a bit like scrambled eggs so little bit everywhere that are hard to clean up

sweetgrouch · 07/08/2014 18:56

sea - I have no clue either about normal baby pooing. My Dr said as long as he is not constipated or having diarrhea regularly not to worry. mini was active too. He moves a lot in his sleep and always has, I was so worried that he would never sleep.

buzz - glad I have company in the poo everywhere department too.

freedom2011 · 08/08/2014 12:50

sea you'll be all right. I still have a massive list but I am on the nice to haves now rather than essentials. How lovely that you feel lots of movement. That must be reassuring.

I went to see the midwife today. Effacement is progressing so that is good. no further dilation though. the baby is tending to move a bit too much into a back to back position which we obviously want to avoid if possible. She gave me some tips on how to do this. I explained again more information and frank communication calms me rather than "There, there, we know best, don't you worry." I am seeing the doctor on Monday. Due date is wednesday. I was shocked to find out they usually recommend induction 7 days after due date. This seems very short. If the placenta is ok, and they baby not too massive I can wait longer. Hopefully won't come to that.

seamermaid · 08/08/2014 16:14

Free - wow really not long for you now. I read that sitting on an exercise ball is good for getting baby into the "right" position as is getting on all fours and doing cat/cow positions. 7 days after due date for inductions is pretty standard in some parts of the UK too. Hopefully it won't come to that. I have been told long walks are excellent to bring on labour but who knows!

Sweet yes I worry too my baby will never sleep but I actually think he sleeps at night when I'm sleeping. He doesn't move much in the night. In the day he goes crazy especially when I'm in meetings. I think he is v sensitive to noise. But he is def v actively.

Buzzybee123 · 08/08/2014 21:46

free you should get a say if you are late, here its 14 days on average, I know in France they class 42 weeks as fine and not late at all, but hopefully next Wednesday it will all kick off :)

Buzzybee123 · 11/08/2014 09:42

free thinking of you, hope you are ok :)
