lilone in my experience they wiggle all over the place! Especially while they are still small enough to float around quite freely, so you could well be feeling the baby Smile. He/she could have just fancied a swim over to the left for a bit, and then decided to give you a whack. X

weebairn · 05/04/2014 07:38

Since the clock change, my toddler has gone from waking up at 4.45am to waking up at 5.45 am. I suppose I should be grateful… YAWN

Had a glass of wine last night with my parents. Very much enjoyed that.

My trousers are beginning to get tight. I don't look pregnant at all, but I've lost my nice shape. Just look a bit bigger. My bras fit ok but again a bit tighter. Just makes you feel a bit meh. I always preferred actually having a bump to this in-betweeny stage. Might dig my bump bands out the cupboard.

14+4.

Inbl00m · 05/04/2014 07:49

lilone that sounds like movement. Mine goes from different sides to also what feels like downward movement. It's like a muscle twitch crossed with light tapping!

Topsyloulou · 05/04/2014 07:53

Iilione I have a very wriggly baby & it. is constantly moving all over the place. Right now it's horizontal by my belly button but give it 5 minutes & it will have moved again. It's most favoured places seem to be very low down or to the right hand side. Perhaps the right hand is where most babies prefer to lie hence why they start checking there. Still not sure if I have felt the baby move yet, every time I try & lie still & concentrate DP starts talking!

cookielove · 05/04/2014 08:46

Oh I am so looking forward to feeling the baby! This is all so exciting! Every scan I've had baby has been on the left, So I feel a bit nervous every time I get a cramp there :(

Midwife appointment on Friday, then 17 week scan on Wednesday. Then I have to re book my 20 week scan, so busy busy busy!

Have a great weekend everybody :)

lilone1234 · 05/04/2014 10:00

Thanks ladies! I'll be on the look out for more of the same types of feelings. I've had the odd flutter before but never enough to concentrate on, but this was a good few thumps. Problem is, I rarely get the chance to just sit still, which is when they say you will notice it in the early days!

weebairn The in between bit is something i've been finding very difficult. I'll happily be massive, just let it be a proper bump! It's starting to get there now at 17+4 but only at certain times of day/certain clothes. Def been some tears shed over it in the last weeks! Though right now i'm shedding tears about bloody everything...

cookie Do you mind me asking why you're having a scan at 17 weeks?

mamamoomin2 · 05/04/2014 10:05

Is anyone here planning a home birth. My first labour (in hospital for 2 hours) was straightforward and fast so am thinking it might be the best option. Would be interested in hearing any HB experiences you've had.

Am going to a local HB group tomorrow to find out more.

Sods law I will be 100% for it and then go over and need to be induced! But that wouldn't be end of world as not anti-hospital anyhow.

rockin20s · 05/04/2014 10:29

mamam I have booked in for a homebirth too. This is my first pregnancy so there is a high transfer rate. But I want to give it my best go

cookielove · 05/04/2014 10:30

lilone I have triple x syndrome which can be passed on to the baby as I have said no to a cvs and amniocentesis they are giving us an extra scan to check development of brain and heart function. :)

cookielove · 05/04/2014 10:31

Oh no home birth for me, I want the safety of thr hospital :)

topmammy · 05/04/2014 10:37

I think homebirth is a lovely idea, especially as just being in a hospital seems to make me a bit anxious. But I want to be close to the drugz. Blush so hospital it is for me. Plus I live in a terraced house and although the walls are pretty thick, I don't want my neighbours being bothered laughing at my screams

I'm sooo hungry today!! Watching Saturday Kitchen is not helping either haha.

whiteblossom · 05/04/2014 10:54

Morning all, thank you for the support yesterday, I'd rather scared myself. DH came home early to pick up ds from school so I could go to docs and he cooked and I went to bed and slept through. Ive woken with the mild headache still there so I might take some painkillers- see if I can knock it on the head- so to speak Grin

Ive had lots of movement this morning and the belly changes shape from one minute to the next. I think it depends if Im on my back or ive been lay on my side for a while.

Ive been car hunting this week, so if anyone has or can recommend a car with a large flat lipped boot- let me know. Idealy I need to get a dog crate in and a pushchair.

isitme1 · 05/04/2014 10:57

Would love a straightforward birth home or hospital but I know hospital is thr best for me.
Been to my driving lesson and instructor said book yourttest for next month! Argh the pressure is on!

Bananapickle · 05/04/2014 13:41

I had a very straight forward birth with my first so my midwife suggested a HB this time but I'm not brave enough.
Hospitals don't bother me and I had a nice experience last time wth minimal intervention so going for the hospital again!
My husband said he'd have to sell the house coz every time he walked into the room he'd remember the pain I went through. He's a bit sensitive bless him!!

CumbrianExile · 05/04/2014 14:36

No homebirth for me..its my first and I am too scared haha

Oxlady · 05/04/2014 14:38

This is my first pregnancy and I'm planning a home birth. Midwife advised that should be fine as long as there are no complications in my pregnancy. However, I am also prepared for hospital transfer which happens in about 45% of first time Mums.

weebairn · 05/04/2014 14:50

I had a home birth with my first. It was not fast - 30 hours from waters breaking. I was a bit shellshocked by the pain/intensity/length, but, overall a good experience. I had excellent excellent care, 2 midwives all to myself. DP was more involved than I think he would have been in hospital, very hands on. No tears or problems. Being at home afterwards was BLISS. And I had a pretty easy time of breastfeeding, compared to everyone else I know. I feel very lucky.

Going to have a home birth this time too hopefully - really hope it's quicker though!!!

TheOnlySeven · 05/04/2014 17:51

I have very fast and straightforward births. I like the idea of a homebirth but after 3 premature labours there's no point me even considering it as it's not allowed before 37 weeks.

Fairypants · 05/04/2014 19:48

Another one planning a HB here. I had one with dc2 and it felt right- not that there was anything wrong with hospital for dc1. I had a 6 hr discharge though so no postnatal ward.
We were in a semi and my next door neighbour was expecting her first dc 3 months after me so I was concerned I might scare her but she wasn't even aware it had all happened till we saw her after.
I'm scared of the idea of epidural and pethidine so not interested in any pain relief I can't get at home.
I'm going to a HB group tomorrow too - I wonder if its the same one.

lilone1234 · 05/04/2014 20:44

I think all you home birthers are very brave! As much as I dislike hospitals I think I will feel safer there! Also, I do not mind making a mess of their hospital, and I don't think my dog would enjoy the experience!

cookie Ah I see. Hope it goes well! I would have said no to amniocentesis too, tis scary!

misog2000 · 05/04/2014 21:34

I would like a home birth, but we will be moving house in early August (I hate my neighbours so much I'm willing to move at 7 months pregnant!) so it depends on the midwives in my new area (we have decided to use the move to go closer to grandparents who are helping with childcare) , and how quickly it can be set up. If not there is a newish mlu at the hospital so I wouldn't mind going there, just keen to avoid labour ward if possible. It's my first baby so I'm aware there is a high transfer rate, but think being at home is the right way for me to start, I just won't get too hung up on staying there throughout just in case

topmammy · 05/04/2014 22:53

Found out about an aquanatal class I fancied going to in my area today but annoyingly its only on once a week on a tuesday afternoon when I will always be at work. Such a shame. There does seem to be a lack of antenatal activities in my area apart from a bumps to babies course and a breast feeding class run by the nhs. What is your area like? There is literally one pregnancy yoga class in my area too which I need to look into. Or I may just buy a pg yoga dvd!

Topsyloulou · 05/04/2014 23:35

It's similar where I live Topmammy. Most of the classes I want to do are during the day or all on a Tuesday night so I can only do one or the other. Hoping my normal yoga teacher might know someone who teaches pregnancy yoga & hopefully on a day other than Tuesday!

weebairn · 06/04/2014 06:24

lilone my cat tried to eat my placenta at my home birth. True story.

weebairn · 06/04/2014 06:25

Actually my cat was a very supportive birth partner and sat next to me for the whole thing even when it got quite intense. He's like that when I'm ill too!! Grin
