New thread ladies. I should really leave it to someone who can link the old one. Can someone add the edd list and whatnot? Or maybe we should start again now edds are changing after scan.

Good luck for today stargirl! I've had a couple of nosebleeds but assumed it was just another bizarre pregnancy side effect as my sister in law had them while pregnant too!
Great news about your scan yesterday overthinker, bummer that you have to go back but does this mean you will get another picture? :P I had to give an almighty cough and the scan lady had to shoogle the scanner thingumy on my tum because the wee one was facing outwards for the "camera"!

ohthegoats · 03/04/2014 08:31

Yep, I had an uncooperative thing as well. Dr had to shove my tummy around to wake it up - that's what it looked like anyway - when it started moving, it was in that sort of jerky 'just awake' sort of way. We couldn't see both legs until it got cross and kicked them around.

ldt87 · 03/04/2014 08:48

Hi all, good luck to those with scans today

I'm 13 weeks today, counting down to the next scan, I think I'll relax more after that one xx

PunkyBubba · 03/04/2014 09:13

Just wanted to respond to Solitaires comments about Marie Mongan hypnobirthing. I took this course, and I also had a pain free, drug free labour, and also at no point even contemplated asking for anything, even gas and air. It just didn't occur to me! It wasn't a walk in the park but at no point felt unmanageable. Friends who had babies after me, and took my advice on taking the course had similar experiences.

I am quite a sceptic and was never sure my mind would relax enough for it to work, but always felt if I ended up needed intervention it had still been worth it due to the positive relaxed mindset it gave me during the pregnancy.

P.s. Thanks for the rainbow relaxation link trouble.

Captainmcgraw · 03/04/2014 10:53

Good luck Stargirl!

Well I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Just come home from work (with intention of working from home) as bleeding again. Sure it's fine but it still stresses me out. Might borrow my friend's Doppler - can you hear baby with one by 14 weeks? Anyway my cold has also brought sickness back so filled up two plastic bags on the journey home. Now slumped in bed thinking of a way that my work might do itself.

tak1ngchances · 03/04/2014 11:02

sorry that you're having a hard time captain. Sending you massive sympathy. I am not at work today either, am missing a big meeting, and feeling mightily guilty like the worst person ever. I am having the seasickness with a hangover feeling and the only thing that makes it better is lying horizontal and not really moving. I am also trying to do a bit of work from home.

Also today I seem to have expanded all over. The things that fitted me last week really don't fit me now. I have massive boobs and tummy and even arms and thighs!

sazzlehopes · 03/04/2014 11:07

Hi all, sorry not posted in a while, but have nothing really to report! Just wanted to come on and say congrats on the nice scan news, especially wiggy with the twins!

I'm 14+5 today and feel fine. I have a nice preggo bump now and am enjoying letting it all hang out!
I just wanted to say i did the hypnobirthing thing, listening to the cd and reading the book. I felt it was helpful, i felt relaxed going into it all and confident that i could 'do it'. I did really well at home for ages (was supposed to have a home birth) and when the midwife turned up i was 6 cm and she was impressed with how i was coping. However for whatever reason I did end up in hospital with an emcs, but up until the epidural for the cs i didn't use anything other than gas and air, and I only needed that for the induction drug they gave me. I laboured for 25 hours on nothing but gas and air and still feel positive about my birth!
I'm going vbac this time and hope to use similar techniques again to help me through it and not end up cs. I think I'll look into natal hypnotherapy too, thanks for the advice.

I also did the daisy birthing course, I didn't fancy nct - and i would recommend the dairy birth experience. A really good mixture of yoga/a bit of hypobirth style affirmations and practical advice of what actually happens in birth.

Loulou888 · 03/04/2014 11:31

What time is your scan stargirl I'm sure you will be fine. Is this your 3rd scan? For a lot of people the 12 week is their first and you've probably just been really lucky not to have suffered any symptoms. Fx

Loulou888 · 03/04/2014 11:34

Has anyone previously had the whooping cough vaccine whilst pregnant? This is new since I had my last. Did you have any side effects? Likewise with the flu jab?

Stargirl7 · 03/04/2014 11:42

Hi Loulou!
It's at 5pm today. Yes tis my third scan and know I'm so lucky to have had them for reassurance. Just had no symptoms really and got quite bit of cramping today. I sound like a right whinger, but first pregnancy and no one I can really talk to about what it's like to be pg/have children etc.
If it goes well today am definitely going to ask about CBT, thinking it may help allay fears on the way!

Loulou888 · 03/04/2014 11:57

Hi stargirl sometimes I don't think these forums help esp if it's your first as you hear of all the potential problems and worry it will happen to you. There was no harmony test when I had my first either. But I have always suffered with morning sickness I suppose that's a clear indication! Fingers crossed all will be fine and now you've reached that stage it's something like 65% less chance of a miscarriage. Sure you won't need the cbt esp the further on you get. There will be no mistaking the bump soon. Think I was 15 weeks when I felt ds kick. Try not to worry won't do you any good x

Stargirl7 · 03/04/2014 12:06

Thanks LouLou, really appreciate the advice :)
Sounds premature but I can't wait to have a bump or a slight weight gain or anything just to prove I'm not making this up in my head!!!

pebble82 · 03/04/2014 12:50

Loulou I've had flu jab for the last 7 years. No side effects and you honestly don't even feel it.

stargirl I was half expecting the sonographer to send me hone saying there was nothing there and I'd made it up but everything was fine. I've lost 5lbs since BFP and not been sick so very lucky so far. The problem with the internet is only the bad stories make it on there so you end up going crazy thinking the worst is more common than it is.

Thanks to the ladies posting about natal hypnotherapy. I've just bought the book and cds off amazon. I'm a first timer and sway between thinking I'll be totally fine to being completely terrified of labour. Fingers crossed reading and listening to these will help.

Bumpforme2014 · 03/04/2014 13:43

Sorry captain that sounds rubbish! I heard heartbeat with Doppler at 12 weeks so yes I think it's good idea for reassurance. Got my scan in few hours guys, trying to keep busy with work to kill time.

Kirstipops · 03/04/2014 13:46

I'm going to buy them too, the Maggie Howell one appealed to me so I think I'll go with that one :) I'm 14+5 too sazzle! Wearing a maternity top today and had a few bump compliments in work, I think my mum will be shocked to see the difference in it on Saturday from the space of only two weeks!!

STIGZ · 03/04/2014 13:53

Hi girls

Glad im not the only one feeling rotten! Been up since 5 am vomiting, think its actually a bug as i am a nursery nurse and a bug is doing its rounds!

I feel horrendous as im suffering with a constant sicky feeling and no appetite with this pregnancy!!

My stomach is so empty but honestly dont think i can force myself to eat today? Jst sips of water is making me gag!

Hope no-one else gets this? Its bloody horrible!!

ohthegoats · 03/04/2014 14:13

I'm 14+5, and look pregnant today too - not wearing maternity clothes yet, but this empire line dress is looking a bit bulgy out the front. It's still mostly flab though. It's gone randomly a bit hard towards the top, which I'm pretty sure I can't blame on great abs work at the gym, but anything that is sticking out at the bottom is definitely still flabby. Hard about an inch underneath, but flabby on top.

What I did see is that Sam Bailey in the Daily Mail today - she was flapping around a 10 week scan when I was 10 weeks too - looking properly pregnant. I don't look like that.

Loulou888 · 03/04/2014 14:22

I wasn't very big for a long time with dc1 I didn't need mat clothes until well into week 20. Dc2 however was a different story and I'm big again straight away with this one. Sam Bailey is on her 3rd too. Once you've had one your body succumbs rather quickly to stretching out. Shock I expect after all that weight loss and exercise Sam did, she hasn't done much since being pregnant.

Loulou888 · 03/04/2014 14:23

Feel for you stigz nothing worse than a sickness bug on top on ms. Hope you feel better soon

Cherie037 · 03/04/2014 16:02

For me there is a 16 year age gap between my DD1 and DD2. As the first one was a "surprise" I always thought I would have no problems falling pregnant again well that didn't happen and DH and I struggled for quite sometime before it actually happened, so I feel your stress stargirl as I worried about my scan as well. Fingers crossed everything is okay!!

completely off topic but my "surprise" DD1 I gave up for an open adoption and have had contact with her since I gave her up. I am lucky and blessed enough to be able to go to her grade 12 graduation (She lives in Canada) though I will be about 25 weeks along with DC3! Sorry I have told everyone I know as I am over the moon I get to see her graduate!!!

diamondbutterfly · 03/04/2014 16:11

captain you should be able to hear the hb, I have since about 8 wks. Make sure you put some water on your belly/ or the gel to pick up the heartbeat

Glad everyone is having good scan news!

binkybunny · 03/04/2014 16:53

Hi all. Loulou I've also wondered about the Whooping cough jab but as far as I can tell it's not a live one so there shouldn't be any issue. I missed getting the flu jab as they only did it until the middle of March and I am susceptible to bad colds so hoping a weak immune system doesn't increase my chance of catching flu!

I have been in my maternity clothes since the weekend. I wore a lovely blooming Marvelous dress yesterday and today I'm on my bargain £4 New Look Trousers and Blooming Marvelous jumper. Just so much more comfortable! My boss told me yesterday my not so little bump can't be baby yet it must be the constant eating that's given me it. How to make me feel great huh!

Kirstipops · 03/04/2014 17:32

Oh that was nice of your boss binky!! My DH said last week he wondered how much of bump was Nutella!!
Has anyone else had really sharp burning pains in their shoulder blades/upper back area?? I didn't think my handbag was THAT heavy!?

CareBearWithFangs · 03/04/2014 17:34

Huge sympathy for everyone feeling crappy. I'm also still feeling sorry for myself. Dreading work tomorrow.

My lovely friend dropped off some spatone sachets yesterday so I'm hoping that helps with the energy levels.

Cherie it's great that you get to see your daughter graduate, you sound so proud Smile

LondonJen · 03/04/2014 17:54

Hi ladies, is there room for another on the sofa please?

I've been lurking -and with delight I might add, as I was interested in hypnobirthing so great to hear it's helped people.

I had an mmc @ 10 weeks last Oct so been struggling to believe this bean would stick. However, had scan yesterday and little baby was in there, everything as it should be, sucking it's right thumb, with it's left hand behind it's head, proper chilled, going 'why were you ever worried Mum?'!! So very happy and feel I can now openly join in with you all. My EDD is 8th Oct Smile

Also, you were chatting marriage and surnames. We've been together 13 years and don't intend to marry. Baby will have both our surnames (not hyphernated) on birth cert and passports (so neither of us gets accussed of kidnapping!) but chances are we'll just use dp's for every day (depending on what goes best with first name!) We are not agreed whose surname goes first but it will be mine so there Wink

Sorry to those who are still feeling rank, I had awful nausea (tho no puking) until 9 weeks tho it's mostly eased off since then. And congratulations to everyone who has enjoyed a recent scan. I still can't get over the joy of it!
