New thread ladies. I should really leave it to someone who can link the old one. Can someone add the edd list and whatnot? Or maybe we should start again now edds are changing after scan.

Wow, twins! Congratulations wiggy! And great news on the other scans.

I really am feeling so much better now (11 weeks tomorrow) and starting to look forward to my scan now, although it's not for another week or so. I'm feeling so flabby though, I feel huge but I do feel I can finally start eating healthily and getting more exercise day to day.

I also told my parents over the weekend, which I was a bit nervous about, but they were pleased so I'm feeling quite positive about everything now.

Wiggy29 · 02/04/2014 19:16

Yeah, she's already said "God you're not pregnant are you?" And (when I lied and said no as wanted to tell dc1 first) "oh thank god!" I know it's because we're busy, but really there's rarely an ideal time to have a baby! I know they'll almost make it sound like we're having twins on purpose! They only had two and just think (as with anything) that there way/ choices are the only right ones.

magichandles · 02/04/2014 19:33

Nightmare wiggy - I've been strangely nervous telling people I was pregnant with DC3 as I do think some people judge - my friend says her Mum is exactly the same and always makes negative comments when she mentions a friend is having a third. I was pretty nervous telling my parents, but as I said it was fine. Fortunately SIL has 5 (and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a 6th) so telling DH's family should be fine.

I'd tell them on the phone as well - just easier all round!

hefner · 02/04/2014 19:46

mum2kiss I was scanned at 13+3 and had CRL of 71.8 and NT of 1.8. No idea what percentile that was meant to be. I'm 5'2" if that makes any difference.

Captainmcgraw I've got my 20 week scan on 13th May, looking forward to it although watching One Born this week has made me a bit nervous!

Wiggy I hope your in laws manage to say something nice. It sounds like a good idea to tell them over the phone so you can gauge their reaction and prepare yourself for seeing them. Shame they're so negative, telling people should be part of the fun!

noimagination80 · 02/04/2014 19:56

Hey all,

Just marking my place. Great to see such good scan news, and wow wiggy twins!!!

gunwalloe · 02/04/2014 19:56

10-6 40.0
12-6 64.7
14 weeks 82.0

Shes growing fast :)

Loulou888 · 02/04/2014 20:09

Congrats wiggy. I'm dreading telling inlaws too they are so negative and I'm certainly not the favourite daughter in law for not living around the corner!

Can't believe some of you have dates for your 20 week! I've still no date and am 12 weeks next week. Felt dreadful yet again today with nausea and dizziness. Fingers crossed I'm nearly there to have seen the back of it.

binkybunny · 02/04/2014 20:16

captain our 20 week is going to be at nearly 22 weeks on the 3rd June as DH is working away at 20 weeks :-( Feels like forever!

ldt87 · 02/04/2014 20:20

Ah congratulations on good scans and twins everyone!

At my scan in was 12+4 and crown rump length was 61mm, my nt measurement was 1.3 mm

My 20 week scan is may the 12th xx

ohthegoats · 02/04/2014 20:36

12+6 weeks, crown to rump 64.6

I had absolutely no idea of that number, not even in the ballpark. I MUST learn to engage with this whole thing. Haha.

Kirstipops · 02/04/2014 20:36

I made my 20 week scan appointment myself after my 12 week scan, it's on 12th of May. Eeek! :)
Binky I guess you can look at it from the perspective that your little scan pic is going to be even better at 22 weeks than it was at 20, plus you'll have less time to wait between your scan and the day you meet your little one ;)
Wiggy I sent you a message about the Facebook group (anyone else who wants to join can drop me a message on here too). I agree, telling the in-laws over the phone initially is a good idea!
My sister in law had twin girls when she was only 19, they're 6 now and she has just had her 3rd baby, when I look at her I just think women can flipping well do ANYTHING!

ohthegoats · 02/04/2014 20:42

I've got an appointment with high risk obstetrics department on 24th April, I'm sort of assuming that they'll sort out 20 week scan. Midwife told me when I booked in, that if both consultant and midwife appointments looked to fall in the same week, then to go to the consultant, not the midwife. I'm away for the 16 week marker, so seeing consultant at 17+5.

TroubleAndFyfe · 02/04/2014 20:49

Sounds like a plan wiggy! Joining a twins FB group will help with lots if double buggy advice too. You can get triple buggies - you'd be able to ask if any are actually manoeuvrable! Sling wise you'd be much better off with an Ergo, Manduca, Beco, or Connecta which are all full buckle carriers like the Bjorn but will be infinitely more comfortable for you and the baby and designed in such a way to support healthy hip development. Stretchy wraps (like Victoria sling lady) are also great for up to 6 months and are cheap. I have 2 year old twin nieces...you're in for some fun! Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 02/04/2014 20:50

20 week scan 20th may!

solitaire89 · 02/04/2014 20:56

I'd just like to put another POV out there about Natal Hypnotherapy...

I used it for the birth of my daughter and had a completely pain free, drug free, fear free labour and home birth. Not only did I not use any drugs at all, not even a paracetamol, but I never even considered it at any point during my labour. This was my first labour/birth experience.

Other people I have spoken to who used hypnosis for birth fall very firmly into 2 camps:

The first group copes with labour, but feels that they are using all the tools and techniques which have been provided to them through the courses they had attended. They feel that they had managed, but the overwhelming feeling is that they "only just coped". This is the group that used HypnoBirthing (Marie Mongan's programme), and the group that nearly made me think there was no point in going down the road of hypnosis

The second group feels that they took labour well and truly in their stride - that it may have been tough at times (not necessarily painful, just hard work), but at no point did they feel near the edge. When I was looking into hypnosis for birth, there was nobody else who had used Natal Hypnotherapy (Maggie Howell's programme), so no reviews at all before hand, all have been read after my birth experience.

On a whim, and before I was even pregnant, I bought the books for both programmes, and immediately took a dislike to the HypnoBirthing programme - I agree completely with FlipFantasia, they are 2 very different things! The whole way through the HypnoBirthing book, it referred to "which you will learn on your course", or words to that effect. Now, I didn't want to shell out for that on something that I couldn't be sure would work. This was the first problem. The second problem was that I hated the tone of the HypnoBirthing - it came across to me that if either me or my baby needed any help at all, then I had failed. I'm not saying that is what they say, I'm saying that's how it came across to me. The Natal Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, had cds for home birth, hospital birth, c section... I knew that whatever I had chosen and whatever the outcome of the birth was, I was never going to be a failure :) I chose Natal Hypnotherapy and there was no looking back. I should also explain the history - I was so scared of labour and birth I sat in my GP's surgery and cried my eyes out at her - and this was BEFORE even ttc. I was THAT scared! So, I read the book, and realised that yes, I CAN do this, so once I was pregnant I spoke to the MW at my booking apt and said I didn't know where I wanted to birth, but didn't want an "auto hospital birth". Roll on 7 months, and I'd had chance to listen to the cds and attend Natal Hypnotherapy's 2 one day courses, and I was entirely ready to have a home birth. That's how powerful it was.

Down to the nitty gritty (for want of a better "word") though, and on the day I went into labour I worked all day in labour because it "couldn't be labour, it doesn't hurt!", before going home, getting ready to go out (we only didn't go because my OH said I was anti-social), getting fish and chips and eating them, going for a walk, watching a film, and then, just before my body started to push, falling asleep on the sofa between ctx. At this point they asked if I wanted to get into the pool, so I did, but wasn't comfortable, so got out and they then suggested I climb the stairs as baby wasn't descending as they'd have liked. So I walked upstairs, whilst pushing, before birthing in the bathroom. Now, one could argue that it was obviously an "easy labour" and I was just lucky - but this was a back to back baby and I pushed for 2 and a half hours, and still, at no point did I feel any need to call on any techniques or any breathing patterns.

I suppose I just wanted to say that Natal Hypnotherapy, in my opinion is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone... Bit of a long way to say it though ;)

ExcitedCJ · 02/04/2014 22:11

Wiggy how very exciting, 2 lovely bundles of fun, yay!

I have been feeling very nauseous and migraney over the last few days.

Went for my Harmony test today at 11+4 so now the agonising wait for the results, if my bloods work. I can't believe the difference between the healthcare provisions in the UK. I paid for Harmony test & would have to pay for Nuchal or to check nasal bone, I am 38 & there is nothing offered until 40+
Have any of the Harmony ladies got their results back yet? I don't understand how the results work.

ohthegoats · 02/04/2014 22:17

I got my Harmony results back. I just got a result of 1:10000 risk of all three tri-thingies. I think that's as detailed as they get in terms of the piece of paper I got.

The best thing that I did today was have a frank conversation with my boss about my maternity/going back to work options. I know I don't need to discuss that this early, and that legally he can't ask me, but I really wanted to understand my options - we're doing budgets this week, so it's a good time to discuss it. I came up with a really outlandish idea that would be perfect (working mornings only for 18 months, with some paid time planning at home not within those hours, and a job share with a specific person who I already really like, then going back full time after 18 months), while discussing it with my boyfriend, and just asked boss what he'd prefer me to do if I want to be part time. Incredibly, he suggested the SAME outlandish idea. So that's what we've budgeted for - I know it could still end up meaning nothing but for the time being it's a huge relief.

ExcitedCJ · 02/04/2014 22:26

ohtheg thanks. It's great when you get work stuff sorted, I trying to figure out what we can afford to do & how long maternity can last for. Would love to take off until Jan 2016, my DD would be settled into primary school with 1 term completed & my LO would be just over 1yr. Perfect, just need a win fall now!

ohthegoats · 02/04/2014 22:33

Oh I'll be back after 8/9 months - can't afford to be getting paid nothing! Obviously I don't really know how I'll feel, but at the moment 8 months feels plenty. And 'it' will only be in nursery for 4 hours each morning - still sleeping chunks of that I guess. Within 3 months of that time, boyfriend's job will change and he might be able to negotiate some part time stuff - a bonus for him to be home alone with 'it' for a bit too.

MrsBadCrumble74 · 02/04/2014 22:43

20 week scan on 13th May. Seems ages away...

How exciting to have twin news! Congrats wiggy

ExcitedCJ · 02/04/2014 22:55

We will prob not be able to afford it but that is the dream! I did 9 months for DD & was super fine going back, I had 3 months of 2 days a week to phase me back, that was lovely.

In other news, I forgot I had a baby in the bump & flopped down on my tummy onto the edge of the bed, now freaking out I've done damage or my Rhesus Neg blood will be swishing around hurting the baby! Aaah!!!

bumpbangbump · 03/04/2014 07:20

Xobgeats on all the good scans ladies. And our first twins, how exciting!!

Dare I say it... I think I might possibly, maybe be feeling a little bit better! Just felt a little bit sick yesterday and even ate some salad. This is the first nutritious food I've eaten in weeks. I'm hoping to be naughty just for fun today and then back on slimming world tomorrow. I need to get my eating under control as I've already put on over a stone and I shouldn't have pur on anything at my weight at all!!!

Stargirl7 · 03/04/2014 07:38

Well today's 'scan' day for us. Didn't sleep last night and had a nosebleed from stress!! Finding it hard to battle with my anxiety tbh.
Feels like I'm not pg at all, no weight gain in the past 2 weeks, no bump, no sore boobs anymore :( not had that many symptoms anyway and last scan was 2.5 weeks ago, so praying it will all be ok. How did you lovely ladies get through this part?!

overthinker88 · 03/04/2014 07:40

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posts I've been so busy at work/feeling ridiculously sick! Had my scan yesterday and all looks well! Need to go back on Monday as baby wasn't lying right to get all measurements... Anyone else had to do this?
