So I got a stupidly early faint positive today at 9dpo when I should definitely know better after a chemical last month. According to the Calendar I'm due December 1st so I've decided to be massively optimistic and start this thread. Is there anybody put there?

People suffering sickness/nausea have u tried peppermint tea? I've heard it's good for that

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 02/04/2014 16:24

Ladies, is this your first baby? If not, how many children do you have? Do you work full time? How do you cope with kids and work? Are you thinking of giving up work? Or going part time etc?
Really don't know what I am going to do with work and child care it's probably far too early to be thinking about this but I am a planner!! Lol

chillychicken · 02/04/2014 16:36

Emily this is my first baby. I'm having an office put in one of the spare rooms at home as there is absolutely no chance in what I do that I can take maternity leave. I have no idea how this is going to work but I have no choice but to make it work! I sometimes work with fairly harsh chemicals so I will be needing to work from home occasionally rather soon.

The eventual plan is for me to continue to work from home and 1 day a week DH will "work from home" to spend time with the baby. I'm likely to then utilise the local nursery from about 18 months - 2 years, depending on how work are coping without me in the office full time.

rockstars12 · 02/04/2014 17:33

I work full time plus some evenings. I'm going to cut down on the evening shifts as they're voluntary. Though the extra money is handy right about now. The maternity package we have is really good, don't know if will take full year, but if finances allow ill share it with dh. We cant afford the child care rates here so my mum will do 3 days and we will either do 4 days each or one doing 5 though we would only get one day off together.

ImBrian · 02/04/2014 17:38

Emily this is my 5th baby, my eldest 3 are at school and their dad/his partner drop them off and pick them up and my youngest goes to her grandparents. I have everything crossed they'll have this one too as if not it'll be off to nursery at 4 months old. I work full time and so does dp. I'm considering dropping a half day but tbh I prob won't bother. It's knackering sometimes but we manage fine and when they're staying at their dads I don't know what to do with myself!

I'm supposed to be going swimming tonight, I'm so tired and really can't be bothered but I need to do it. I'm a stone heavier then I was when I got pregnant with the girls and I don't half put it on when I'm pregnant. So it's yoga and swimming once a week and a calorie/fat controlled diet to try and keep my weight the same for as long as possible. Dieting in pregnancy is fine as long as your not daft, I normally eat takeaways, chocolate etc so I'm cutting all that crap out and trying to keep my portion sizes small.

Congratulations to the new bfps, we're starting to get busy. I'm looking forward to the January thread appearing!

I have one DD who is 3 and a half and I work 3 days a week which is brilliant as I have time to do things withDD and get the housework done in the week so weekends are housework-free! DH works full time but he is a teacher so gets lots of holiday anyway. DD is at nursery 2 days a week and my parents have her the other day.
I keep changing my mind about when to go and see GP.I still dont really feel pregnant even though I will be 6 weeks tomorrow I think.
I've been trying to eat more healthy and have definitely upped my spinach intake. Having steak tonight although it will have to be well done (normally I like it rare)

PunkyPod · 02/04/2014 18:27

Me and DH work full time but we do condensed hours (10 days hours in 9 days). Dd goes to my parents for 2 days, nursery 2 days and then Friday is either me or DH coz one of us is always off. It does take a lot of juggling and I would much rather be a SAHM, but the money is important. I'm not sure what will happen after this baby.....

mopsytop · 02/04/2014 18:33

I work full time and so does my husband I have a two-year old who goes to nursery five days a week. Will take at least nine months mat leave then go back full time probably...

Somersetgirl1990 · 02/04/2014 18:35

Hi everyone, congratulations on your BFP's Grin is it too late to join?

Edd 6/12/14

Feeling very nervous and hope the next 8 weeks speeds by Hmm I only found out yesterday morning and since then have been feeling exhausted in the evenings and have gone off food and feeling nauseous. Think it might just be me being a hypochondriac!

somethingwittynot · 02/04/2014 19:02

This is my 3rd baby. My OH works full time but shift work so hes home for part of the day! DS1 starts pre school september 2014 and DS2 september 2015

ClockTicking7533 · 02/04/2014 19:54

Hi everyone!
I too am due in December and would like to join the thread - which is so long already!
This will be my second, I work full-time from home, and my daughter is in daycare.
Still feel pretty good, but a little tired and nauseous.

I worked full time until the beginning of this year when I changed to term time only. I'm also studying with the OU. Dh also works full time around his full time college course. He is looking for apprenticeships to complete his training which will probably start in September however he will still have to work full time around that due to the crap apprentice pay. In short, we're both constantly knackered but hopefully it will all pay off eventually.

Initial plan is to have 9 months off but I will never go back to working full time with young children unless I absolutely have to. Going back full time after ds was the worst decision I've ever made. I wish I could be a sahm.

So far my morning sickness is just constant nausea unless I'm eating something. Very different from last time and at this rate I'm going to gain a lot of weight! Need to find something I can constantly eat that isn't going to make me fat!

ImBrian · 02/04/2014 20:15

Swimming makes me crampy, or is it hjust my stomach muscles complaining?

I have a 2 year old DD and I work full time. My mum provides full time child care so I am very lucky. I'll be taking the full year off most likely. Maternity package is pretty decent at my work and because it's an office environment I don't expect I'll need to go on mat leave until my due date or a bit earlier.

rockstars12 · 02/04/2014 21:18

Watching one born every minute and a woman has come in with baby that is unlikely to live. My dh promptly announced he was going into bedroom. He says normal birth is kind of ok but he can't watch a mother lose her newborn as entertainment. He's really disturbed by it.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 02/04/2014 22:05

Rockstars I just watched it too on sky+ so so sad! I don't know how i would cope in that situation

Somersetgirl1990 · 02/04/2014 22:15

I've just started watching it! Not looking forward to that part, feeling emotional already and I've only watched the first five minutes...

stripeymonster · 02/04/2014 22:53

Hi Emily! I have two daughters, age 4 and 2 and very excited about a third. I'm lucky enough to be able to stay at home with them at the moment. Currently I don't really have any pregnancy symptoms - almost hoping to develop some soon! I'm not too impressed with our due date - my other two were 15 and 17 days overdue and this one will probably be similar - very close to Christmas!!!

Loaf99 · 03/04/2014 07:41

Yarp me too first time!!! Due date 3rd December

Lianasdav · 03/04/2014 08:00

This is my 2nd, got an 8yr old son. I work full time but it's 3 days a week because I do 12.5 hour shifts. My partner works full time but is starting college sept and working part time. The maternity package is good where I work so will take 9 months. I'm looking forward to having time off because have worked full time since DS was 6 months old! My mum has retired in march so hopefully she will help with childcare because I will have to go back full time.
Been feeling a bit nausea last few days but not sure if that's because I've been working nights!

chillychicken · 03/04/2014 08:34

My due date is my birthday! I'm a bit Hmm about that but just trying to keep in mind that it'll be a lovely birthday present. My side of the family have always delivered 2-3 weeks early so in my head I'm setting the due date as a bit earlier to stop me freaking out

Another IC this morning...another line. I didn't think it was any stronger but showed it to DH who for the last 2 days has said "it's very faint, don't get your hopes up" and he said "Oh. Yes. Wow. That is err, that is a line. Eek!" with a very shocked look on his face. I'm going to get an FRER and a digi tonight. I still feel like AF is on her way though.

Congrats somerset and clock!

I also feel nauseous already somerset and I think that might just be the shock of finding out rather than anything else Grin Hope so anyway! I've been reading about the embryo development at this stage. Incredible.

Have talked more to DH about telling people. Both still going to wait until 12 weeks (I'm only 4, it's going to be a long 8 weeks!) but I will tell my dentist next week. Only having minor treatment which doesn't require anaesthetic but it's best to tell him I guess. I also need to tell my osteo at the end of the month.

Ooh! Hair. I have a cut and colour booked for May...can I still have it done?

mopsytop · 03/04/2014 09:51

Yes of course chilli! Hair dye is fine.

chillychicken · 03/04/2014 10:56

Oh good!

I've got real AF type cramps today, almost stabby. This doesn't necessarily mean anything, right? Sad

It's actually rather deflating getting a BFP - it's all excitement and then BAM! WORRY WORRY WORRY.

PunkyPod · 03/04/2014 10:57

Hair dye is fine, can't wait to get mine done again.

I saw my GP this morning so now got to wait for midwife and scan appointment. 5+4 today.

PunkyPod · 03/04/2014 10:59

It is such a worry at the start Chilly. But the cramps are completely normal and generally the uterus stretching. Unless you are in severe pain, bleeding or the pain is one sided then it's normal. My pains have passed now.
