Well, I've heard that the reason behind it Weeza is that some people being told they were having a girl and then they went and booked an abortion. I don't know if that's true though. You can still go privately to find out if you really want to but I'm quite happy not knowing anyway so I won't bother. The posters all said "We don't tell so please don't ask, refusal may cause offense". Other people say it's just because of the risk of being sued.

I'm still running twice a week and I'm supposed to do yoga once a week but I keep forgetting my kit. I gave up my cycling as I've had a few close calls with ignorant dirvers (most drivers are great though) and a learner (I'll forgive them!) if I fell off now I couldn't be sure to not injure the baby now it's getting bigger, plus I'm finding myself quite breathless on the hills. I was told it's better to stick to what you are used to and if you were active before then you should keep up that level of activity as long as possible through your pregnancy.

Mitchell81 · 06/03/2014 10:21

Disney my hospital is the same, posters saying do not ask about the gender of the baby.

ItsSoFluffyImGonnaDie · 06/03/2014 12:24

Pina we've bought those 2 sleepsuits too and they really are lovely!

I'm really gutted I've had to give up my sport for now but both governing bodies don't allow you to play after 12 weeks and my clubs won't let me play as I'm not covered by their insurance anymore, boooo. I could start going to the gym but I just don't get any enjoyment out of it whatsoever so I'd never bother going.

My pregnancy pilates dvd arrived yesterday so I might give it a go tonight - I'll report back!

Also, I saw that Ashton's teething powders are back in stock at Boots so I bought 4 boxes Blush I know it's early but I've heard many wonderous things about this stuff and the anguish it caused when it wasn't available so I thought sod it and placed an order Grin

HungryHorace · 06/03/2014 12:44

Afternoon!

I'm back at work today, which isn't great - especially the 5.30am start! But it'll be 6.30am next week as I'll be on secondment closer to home for 3 months, yay! :-)

I'm not missing DD too much, which is good. Probably because I know she's happy with DH (and judging by the video he sent me, just about crawling now!).

I don't get much exercise, unless I walk DD around in the pram. I'll be walking to and from the bus stop for work too, but that's about all. I'll pick up again after having this baby.

Ooh, having more wriggles now too :-) It's nice and reassuring. Not so many as with DD, but that's the joy of an anterior placenta.

DisneyDiva87 · 06/03/2014 13:48

I haven't felt any movement yet, I've just turned 15 weeks today so I'm hoping in the next week or 2 I'll start to notice movements, can't wait for the first time!

eurochick · 06/03/2014 13:50

Me too disney. I've had a lot of stretchy feelings but no flutters yet.

flymo79 · 06/03/2014 14:11

wow hungry, that will be a nice change (being closer to home for 3 months) well done on the secondment - good timing! At least it's nice and light now at 6:30 (I was thinking that to myself this morning) :)
Hooray for spring!!!

crazylady2013 · 06/03/2014 14:32

Had a lovely 16 wk midwife appointment this afternoon. I got 2 for the price of 1 as there was a student as well Wink . Got to hear the heartbeat straight away. this baby seems well behaved (hope it lasts Wink ). Now to wait for my 20 weeks scan on the 7 April (ages away).

Hewhodares · 06/03/2014 14:43

Hello crazylady I think we are due around the same time. Lovely news about your 16week app x

DisneyDiva87 · 06/03/2014 15:02

I'll be 17 weeks at my next midwife appointment! I hope I get to hear the heart beat too.

FriendofDorothy · 06/03/2014 15:15

I had my 16 week appointment today. All well. Nice strong heartbeat.

jessplussomeonenew · 06/03/2014 15:15

Oops, I am working from home today and laid down for a brief lunchtime nap - woke up nearly 2 hours later feeling completely out of it and can't quite get going again! Will have to try and make up the time later but I clearly needed the rest. Time to allow myself a rare cup of proper tea!

Pinkandwhite · 06/03/2014 15:22

Lovely news about people's 16 week appointments :-).

Is anyone else still feeling nauseous? I was sick first thing this morning and I've been feeling pretty rough ever since. I'm 16 weeks pregnant, this isn't fair!

I'm still doubting myself over feeling movements after what my midwife said. What I can feel are flutterings pretty low down. I can feel it several times a day now. I'm pretty certain it's the baby. It really, really doesn't feel like wing as my midwife suggested. I can't wait or proper kicks.

Pinkandwhite · 06/03/2014 15:26

What's everyone else doing about bras and clothes now? I feel like I'm at an awkward point where my normal clothes are starting to feel tight but maternity clothes would be too big. I've ordered a few dresses 1 or two sizes bigger than my normal size from Dorothy Perkins because they've got a 24% off dresses for 24 hours sale on.

I got 3 new bras from bravissimo a week ago which I thought would sort me out for a while but they're now rubbing :-(. I think it might be time to switch to unwired...

jessplussomeonenew · 06/03/2014 15:35

I have been in sports bras day and night since about week 5 - this week I got measured and ended up getting the bravado seamless which is amazingly stretchy so it covers a wide range of sizes. It's also a nursing bra so should do me afterwards too. The medium fitted ok (I'm currently 34DD, up from 32C) but as I was at the limit of its stretch was advised to get the large to give me room to grow even more (eek!) Not sexy, but very comfy!

flymo79 · 06/03/2014 16:06

jealous! I'm still in my a-cup, but have moved to unwired due to generally expanding all over (though not where I would like to be!!)

Ruggle · 06/03/2014 16:25

Pinkandwhite, I'm also still being sick, though haven't been today or yesterday. Four times on Tuesday though. I've been diagnosed with hyperemesis, but it does seem to be getting a bit better. Before being hospitalised with dehydration I'd been sick between 2 and 5 times a day most days since week 8!! Fingers crossed it won't last the whole 9 months!

I've been feeling what I think are tiny kicks, but are probably wind. It's so hard to tell!

16+6 today.

eurochick · 06/03/2014 16:49

pinkandwhite I'm really struggling with clothes. I can hardly fit into any of my normal skirts and trousers. The hairband trick no longer helps. But I'm not bumpy enough for mat wear. I'm down to a couple of dresses (bought specially for this stage) and a couple of things from before that had been too big for me. Meh.

travispickles · 06/03/2014 17:00

Get a bump band off amazon. They are great as you can put them over mat clothes and it hold all in.

DreamPhone · 06/03/2014 17:03

Afternoon all!

Hungry is this your first day back at work after maternity leave? How does it feel? When I think about my maternity leave it feels like an eternity - I can't imagine life carrying on afterwards? Smile

On the subject of maternity clothes, I've been wearing a pair of Uniqlo jeggings to work since about week 8 - they look like black skinny jeans (or so I like to think) but have an elasticated waistband so are much more comfortable (just be sure to hide it's hideousness with a longer jumper). They're about £14.50 so a billy bargain though they're made of a horrible polyester. My knickers are now getting too tight so time for some proper maternity gear soon I think!

Owlysims · 06/03/2014 17:09

My only advice re: not being big enough for maternity wear is...are you sure you're not?! Sometimes maternity wear can make such a difference to your growing shape. It may be worth popping along to one of the shops that stock it (newlook, h and m...not many others!) and actually trying some on and seeing if they actually feel comfy and make your shape look better? Sometimes it can be surprising!! Grin

I'm still being sick 1-2 times a day. Normally in the morning. Grim! But much better than I was a few weeks ago! Am 16+2 today.

I'm really struggling to sleep at night. Hips are killing me. Are others struggling? I've got a Drs appointment next week as I have a history of hip problems anyway and am a bit frustrated that no one has been concerned ante-natally. I've got a pillow for between my legs but I think I prob need to invest in a proper maternity pillow. Any suggestions?

HungryHorace · 06/03/2014 17:26

Dream, yes, first day back after mat leave. I'm bloody exhausted! And my eyes are sore and my back aches. Falling apart.

It was ok though, albeit dull as I couldn't get involved in much due to secondment next week!

Working from home tomorrow, thank god!

Maternity wear is so comfy. Everyone should try it out, as Owly says. :-)

Lots more movement today. Feeling very pregnant all of a sudden!

I felt sick today. Think my early start triggered it. Can't wait to get home.

mssleepyhead · 06/03/2014 17:41

Pinkandwhite I would agree on the maternity clothes. I went into maternity trousers for work last week (was 14 weeks) and they've made an enormous difference. I'm wearing topshop's Leigh black jeans and they're skinny but smart enough for work. Rather than a full band they just have an elasticated bit at the front and they've made wearing trousers comfy again! I actually love them and have had so much comments on them. They're pricey, but I wear them every day so I figure the cost per wear is low. I also wore a maternity top for the first time this week, a Jojo stretchy wrap one that I could tie for the size of my bump. That was more comfy than feeling squashed into normal clothes. I figure if I buy it and start wearing it now I'll get more wear out of it, so it's better value. Buying in a bigger size doesn't make much sense to me as I'll grow out of it soon and might never really fit it properly again.

londonchick I got a maternity pillow because I was struggling with sleeping on my side. The first night was great but it's got worse since then and I can't help feeling maybe I'm doing it wrong....??

londonchick · 06/03/2014 17:48

Ooh is there a good technique for sleeping on your side?? Maybe someone can help us out!!
