flymo70, thanks for clarifying! I agree re. colours - DH and I were saying that we're going to dress him/her in bright non-pastel colours whether boy or girl! It's funny how few baby clothes there are that aren't pastel though - any tips where to find some?

You lot are making me feel like a right lazy bum!!! I do zero exercise....only walking to school twice a day and going out with the kids....its shameful really!!!

I had omeprezole once and it was brilliant, mine was anxiety related heartburn not during pregnancy but after a couple of weeks it cleared it up Smile

I think it's potluck Para, have been looking around on ebay, I'm not fussed about 2nd hand and will just do a massive wash before baby comes (or DP will, ha ha!!). There are old threads here on MN about where's best for brights, seems a lot is very pricey though. My friend had an adorable baby gro for her LO which was from mamas n papas, covered in little japanese cartoon dolls. So cute

If anyone has any good yoga DVD recommendations that would be much appreciated! These brighter mornings make me almost feel like I could get up half an hour early Wink

Hi Para - I saw a multipack of primary coloured babygrows in John Lewis the other day:

Ooooo and they're on a bargain too! £3.98 for 4...

can someone slap me round the face with a wet fish please.... just went to the dentist and she did an x-ray (offered me a lead apron, which I accepted) and then took an impression of my teeth using this really pungent pink gum stuff. I know they wouldn't /shouldn't do anything that would be of any risk to the bean, but I can't help but be a bit freaked out, am trying to be careful about chemicals and there I was with this stuff right on my gums that frankly reeked of paint stripper!!

flymo - I had the same thing at the dentist a few weeks ago, xray with lead apron and pink stuff for an impression of my teeth. I now have a lovely plastic mouthguard thing to wear at night, apparently there was "evidence of grinding". I didn't really think about it, I just figured the dentist would know what she's doing and what's safe. I would imagine they see lots of pregnant women since we get free treatment, I hadn't been for years before to be honest!

flymo79 · 05/03/2014 16:41

oh my god meme, that was exactly what happened to me! evidence of grinding (news to me). Very glad I'm not alone then!
Thanks for the fish jess!!

Hi all, i am new. Never done this joining a thread thing before! I am 17+5 with my 'surprise' 4th baby due on Aug 8th. (10years since my last one!) Feel a bit shellshocked still. Oh and she is a girl, found out after a NIFTY test. Feel huge, any interesting maternity wear suggestions?

Hi pretty, welcome! How has your pregnancy been so far? What's a NIFTY test - is that like a Harmony test?

Hope you're feeling better, flymo79 - that stuff makes me gag at the best of times so I am impressed you didn't vomit all over the dentist!

Tesco had some bright/strong coloured baby vests a while back - just had a quick look - try:

www.clothingattesco.com/f+f-5-pack-of-short-sleeve-bodysuits/invt/kb411028&bklist=icat,4,shop,catgkids,baby-0-2-years

pretty, I used to trawl eBay for maternity clothes because I love the feel and cut and design of Mother En Vogue stuff and it's stupidly expensive new. There's a pretty good French brand as well - I think it's called Formes, but would have to check - but they do some nice basics that would be goof for work. I have most stuff kept from last time, luckily, so apart from some leggings I haven't bought anything. Probably need to get a few maxi dress style tents for the summer I guess! (Spring baby last time.)

i've had two scans this week. saw my little man on Monday at an appt with my consultant then he asked me to have a cervical scan to check my cervix was long enough after i had some treatment for abnormal cells years ago. fortunately all fine but little man was asleep and wouldn't wake up to pose for a photo - just kept moving his arms around as if to say 'leave me alone i'm sleeping'! heartbeat still 154 so i know all is well. shame about the updated photo though as was hoping to get a new one to show the parents when we get down to France tomorrow afternoon. so looking forward to some warmth and sun. anyone know if its ok to use suncream in pregnancy?

Report
Secretlypregnant · 05/03/2014 20:51

Suncream is one of the bees in my bonnet, Lissbug. I think that the usual off-the-shelf stuff is nasty. I'm not going to bang on too much about it here but there are alternatives that protect you from the sun without the potentially harmful ingredients.

I totally acknowledge that it's all very debatable (and causes a lot of anger on both sides), but for me I would rather choose something that doesn't use nano-particles that soak into the skin so deeply, and doesn't use so many questionable ingredients. (The alternatives have an amazingly shorter ingredients list.)

There's a great website that rates sun lotions for kids every year, which I used when I was deciding what to use for my DD.

However, putting aside my buzzing bees Smile, I don't think it is any more dangerous to use it in pregnancy than it is normally.

I'm just going to add myself to the list Smile put myself as team yellow too. The NHSG don't tell even if you ask what the sex is, the place was covered in posters telling everyone.

I've been home for the weekend and now I'm exhausted after running round the countryside seeing everyone. Don't want to go back to work tomorrow :o(

Disney, its a bit harsh not to be told sex of your own baby if you want to know. Hello to newbies on the thread, hope you are feeling ok.I work in a school and have book day tommorow, hate dressing up, too much pressure to find a costume, I have to be the grandmother from red riding hood, luckily my scan got changed from thurs to friday or it would be really weired to sit in waiting room dressed as a pensioner asking for my 20 week scan!anyone out there with children at school, good luck with their costumes.

Hi Secretly,
Nifty is the same as the Harmony i think, it's the cfDNA blood test, gave me great peace of mind and THANK GOD I didn't have to have a massive needle stuck in my belly or even worse through my cervix! Best money ever spent!

I have some Formes left from last time in the bottom of a wardrobe somewhere, but will check out the Mother en Vogue stuff. Thank you.

Hi weeza13
I work in a bookshop, love the idea of having to go to a scan in fancy dress! I have 3 at school, my eldest are in secondary so no book day for them and my youngest (10) refuses to let me dress him up, such a shame as he would look great as a flower fairy! Good luck with your scan. Mine is on the 25th.

Sorry, pretty, I mis-typed - should be 'Mothers en Vogue'. Lovely stuff!

What sort of bookshop do you work in?

Loopylu1 not sure if anyone else has already offered, but if you PM me with your email address I can add you to the FB group.

Hi all, catching up with some of the thread, been a bit busy with. Reading all the exercise posts, both my midwifes and my nurses words were ringing in my ears....we are pregnant, not sick, so no harm in continuing to do whatever you did before, just don't start anything new. As a rule of thumb, as long as you don;t get to that point where you can;t talk and want to be sick, exercise is good! I'm still riding racehorses every morning, going hunting, so using lots of stomach muscles and generally being shaken around, and as I say, the midwife says there is no need to stop what you have always done.

What is everyone feeling as movements, I think I can feel it, weird kind of tickling from the inside very occasionally?

Have a look online on Boots for bright stuff, My friend bought me this set

www.boots.com/en/Mini-Club-Newborn-2-Pack-Sleepsuits_1424386/
They also have:
www.boots.com/en/Mini-Club-Newborn-Unisex-Brights-Jersey-Dungaree_1417330/
Pics dont do justice to how bright the colours are, really lovely.

My dentist didn't even put a cover over me! But she is a friend and told me that the radiation equates to the same amount you would be exposed to on a 2 hour flight and lots of people fly when pregnant so not to worry, so I didn't :)
