I've already got a few bits booked in between now and when I leave. I'll just have to play it by ear I think, and If i'm really struggling then I'll have to try my best to get them to let me take my holiday and if not then just start my leave and ask to carry over leave and sell it back if necessary.
I can do this!!
Some days I'm ok, but when the going gets tough and i'm feeling stressed I really worry about the baby getting stressed out too.

DisneyDiva87 · 24/04/2014 14:56

Thanks flymo Smile

flymo79 · 24/04/2014 15:41

let us know how it goes Disney.
Sorry you are having stressful times Pina, even more reason to take that annual leave as and when you need it xxxxx

HungryHorace · 24/04/2014 15:53

Flymo, your firm can't do that either. They can only make you start mat leave due to pregnancy-related illness after 36 weeks. It used to be 29, but has changed. It'd be unlawful to do what you're suggesting.

Bloody workplaces.

flymo79 · 24/04/2014 15:58

ooh, thanks hungry!

dollydoula · 24/04/2014 16:13

More women are actually enjoying positive birth experiences with HypnoBirthing.I went on an NHS visit with a couple this week and the community midwife had so many good things to say about it .Amazingly Positive.

DisneyDiva87 · 24/04/2014 16:21

I still feel lost about the whole thing but I got a couple of things cleared up concerning holidays and returning to work. I think it's the feeling of the unknown that is unsettling me and we just need to decide what we are going to do.

Must sit down this weekend and sort it out

PinaColadas · 24/04/2014 16:35

Thanks Flymo xxx

I don't know if anyone else feels the same about work but I'm not coping very well with the stresses and pressures of work any more, I just don't find myself being able to concentrate! I think I am officially on wind down!!

HungryHorace · 24/04/2014 16:39

I was like that last time, Piña. It's not so bad this time as I'm not in as stressful an environment.

People should look at this website as it's really good with maternity rights: www.maternityaction.org.uk/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/sicknessduringpregnancymaternityleave.pdf

(Not the home page; this one is for Flymo!)

flymo79 · 24/04/2014 16:48

thanks again hungry!

PinaColadas · 24/04/2014 16:58

hungry that doc is brilliant, really informative. Thank you Thanks

HungryHorace · 24/04/2014 17:26

No worries. I read up on all of my rights last time! :-)

weeza13 · 24/04/2014 19:15

Wow, reading all the maternity leave info is making my head spin. Handed my dates in yesterday so I finish end of june but after being back at school for 3 days and having feet balloon up already it feels like a long way off. All I keep hearing is "not long now" all I want to say is yes it bloody well is when your belly feels solid, you keep peeing and your back aches and it will only get worse. DH made the mistake of telling me "well you wanted a baby" when I complained of being tired!!!! Will be looking into some classes so he can be around other pregnant women and realise how easy he has it.

eurochick · 24/04/2014 21:57

Disney as someone else said, you only get a 28 week scan if there is an issue. I'm having one to check whether the blood flow issue to the placenta has resolved itself, and if not whether it is affecting the baby's growth.

PinaColadas · 25/04/2014 06:40

Weeza, I'm struggling with the solid belly thing, it makes doing anything feel so exhausting! And still soooo long to go too!

ilovemonstersInc · 25/04/2014 08:00

Im having growth scan too at 28weeks.

How is everyone? Been in hospital since 10pm last night. Was kept in with suspected clot. They started me on the injections too. They bloody hurt!

flymo79 · 25/04/2014 08:14

oh good luck monsters, keep us posted. everything crossed

Secretlypregnant · 25/04/2014 08:19

So sorry to hear that, Monsters, I hope you won't have to be in for long.

ilovemonstersInc · 25/04/2014 08:31

Thanks
I have my own cubicle so no one to talk to and the tv system isnt workingHmm
dr has been and said she wants scan doing. Might ask if I can pop out of hosp for an hour. Town is round the corner and need some clothes! All the stuff that fits me is in the wash (started washing yesterday)

DisneyDiva87 · 25/04/2014 08:57

Yikes! Hope you are ok Monster, as others have already said keep us updated!

PinaColadas · 25/04/2014 09:17

Get well soon Monster Thanks

ilovemonstersInc · 25/04/2014 09:18

Thank you.

I wasnt going to come in but it did scare me and as im high risk for clots anyway made me cry having to leave the boys last night. To top it off ive got a sore throat will have them look at that too. Just been and bought some toothpaste off to feel human again!

memedragon · 25/04/2014 11:17

Got my maternity leave certificate last week and just handed it in today. I feel a bit like I'm winding down too pina, which is not good at all since I should be increasing my work at the moment since I have so much to get finished before the baby turns up! For one thing, it's really hard to knuckle down without being able to drink loads of coffee.

Hope all is well at the hospital monsters.

PinaColadas · 25/04/2014 12:11

Aww Monster :( you will be soon back home with them. Hope they let you go home soon.

Meme I know it's so bad. I'm absolutely shattered again not sleeping well at all and can't seem to sleep past 5am at the moment. I have been treating myself to a couple of caffeine drinks a day recently but scared myself last night reading that it can bring on pre-term labour (which I'm really frightened about, although imagine most of us are!)

ilovemonstersInc · 25/04/2014 12:31

Ive actually enjoyed the 'break' lol.
Dh does verylittle and having to make sure both are fed and watered plus hospital appointments and ds1 sn this has been a little refreshing
