August 2014: growing bumps and 20 week scans!!!

I'm a bit jealous of all you ladies feeling movement - I keep checking but nothing definite yet - 20+3 with my first so I'm not worried but it would be lovely to feel movement!

As for maternity leave, I'm planning to take my remaining annual leave which will be 3-5 weeks depending on how HR calculate it. Hopefully this will be enough and not too much, but it's so hard to tell in advance!

I felt my first movement at 19+6 Jess (I'm now 20+4). I was lying in the bath with my hand on my belly reading a book and BAM! got my first kick. (It wasn't really a BAM! but felt like it cause it was so obviously movement).

Remember to take time to lie down and chill out and focus on feeling those wee bubbles that signify movement. Mine feel like bubbles of gas or like someone blowing bubbles into my insides.

Disney, I've been trying to feel movement for a week or so (mostly in bed or the bath) as I know some people feel it from 19 weeks even first time round, but it appears I'm one of the late ones.... It doesn't help that I have mild but fairly continuous indigestion so it's hard to know what is what! Still, we saw the baby on the scan last week so I know there's definitely wriggling going on!

You aren't too far behind me fingers crossed you feel something soon. I still only get small sporadic movements but I know what to feel for cause the first one (that I noticed) was so strong. I felt it on my hand rather than just on my insides. Try having something sweet 20 mins or so before sitting/lying down as that might give the baby some ectra energy to wriggle around.

I've had not as much kicking today; it's been replaced by feet shoving into my ribs. Lovely :-/

At my hospital they use the full monitor from 20 weeks, as I discovered when I bled at 20 and 24 weeks last time.

It's so nice here! We've been to the park for a bit and once ds feed pump finishes will go again!
Been driving too. Trying to keep busy so mind doesn't play away with itself as scan is tomorrow plus hope to get birth plan put in place which will bring horrible memories back :(

Just back from scan. Baby was all fine (and VERY active - he/she really doesn't like scans and dopplers). The only fly in the ointment was with the very last measurement for blood flow to the placenta, which wasn't as strong as it should have been (although they did say that they had to apply a lot of pressure to get to the right spot so they could have just been squashing something that affected the blood flow). The remedy would usually be low dose aspirin, but I'm already on that. So they've recommended a growth scan at 28 weeks to make sure things are still normal.

I hope it is nothing, but I would have loved to come out of today's scan with a clean bill of health - I had promised myself I would relax and enjoy the next 20 weeks if that happened. So I feel slightly meh - I have 8 weeks of background worry until the next scan now. But it was lovely to see centime again and the level of detail was amazing.

Still euro, it's all good news and I am sure that if they had been unduly worried they would be jumping up and down a bit more.

Try to relax and enjoy a bit now (easier said than done I know!)

Eurochick I think we've all signed up for a life time of background worry! I understand how disappointing it is though.

Eurochick, great news that baby is fine and as they've suggested it, I would imagine it's exactly what they've said - just pressing on something unhelpful that affects the blood flow.

Did you decide to find out the sex?

Hopefully any worry you have will be very much in the background now - baby's obviously doing really well .

Hope it was just pressures fault euro.

I realised this morning at 4am that I had a bleed near the sac at 17weeks and forgot about it after I bled a little. I hope its fully gone :( couldn't sleep after that which is typical as this was the only day I could have a lie in as im not driving first thing like I do om hubby's days off.

I'm sure it's fine euro if they said it's just not as strong as it's meant to be that doesn't mean it's weak or anything to worry about and it probably was from all the squishing they were doing.

Euro, I am sure it will all be fine and on the plus side you get to see baby again in a few weeks. Because I have to have another scan at 36 weeks I am excited to see a much more developed scan and its almost like a treat that I will see beby again before due date. Have got mw app todat, hopefully DH can make it this time so he can hear heart beat and guess I should start thinking about birth plan. Everyone like to keep pointing out that ' its not long now! ' But it feels ages away. Guess when staff start talking about end of school year it will feel a bit closer because that last term can whizz by and I am leaving 3 weeks before that. Hope all the upcoming scans go well.

Thanks all. Mr euro is also telling me it is nothing to worry about. I just can't help it. I'm high risk on the NHS criteria for thrombophilia due to age and family history (my mum is currently on her second round of warfarin for a second post-operative blood clot) and she was a repeat miscarrier (and I have mc'd myself and had chem pregs), so I have wondered whether I have a clotty blood issue and this hasn't set my mind at rest!

We didn't find out the sex although I still think girl, not least because with all the wriggling I think we would have got a willy waved at us at some point if there was one there!

Just took advantage of a paint offer at B&Q to get the paint for the nursery... Won't be doing it until the school hols in May but wanted to make sure we got it a bit cheaper. Really can't believe I just bought the paint for a nursery...! Eep!

euro - I'm sorry about the stress, everything crossed it was just pressure and you get more reassurance at your next scan

Just had 25 weeks midwife appointment. Was good to hear heartbeat and mw explained other noises ie the heart valves and blood flow. Got certificate so can now hand in paperwork to work office along with my leaving dates... Its all very real

im team blue got a feeling I was when he wouldn't move from into position like ds2 did when she said im going to have to shove baby a little bit as baby is in wrong position I thought definitely a boy.

He was facing us and was really wriggling around! Couldn't get scan pic as I didn't take enough change

yay!!! congrats on joining team blue near scan buddy. I'm so excited for my scan this afternoon, although we won't find out what team we are on. It's a beautiful day up in the NE of Scotland so surely i can only get good news

Thank you this definitely was the best scan I've ever had as he was looking at us, everything was clear and she went through everything showing us in detail his hands, feet, lips, nose etc.
