Weird, I was able to use the link to reset my password this morning. It's a pain though!

ilovemonstersInc · 13/04/2014 12:20

Wouldn't let me do mine so while I waited I got all housework done except ironing Shock

Just added my age to the list!

This board is really busy! I should come on here more often to keep up with what's going on.
Anyone else getting SPD? I got referred to a physio for it, and had one appointment but no help so far. Just decided to spring clean my bedroom (either bored or nesting already) and now can't move! Guess I should start resting more.

Tc80 · 13/04/2014 19:32

When are people thinking of starting mat leave? I am due 10 aug and was going to finish on 25 July, it's my first baby - is this too late?

HungryHorace · 13/04/2014 19:46

Rather you than me, especially if it's a hot summer.

Have you any leave you can take prior? I'm finishing on 6th June at 31+1, taking 5.5 weeks' leave then starting mat leave at 36+6.

I finished at 33+1 last time, took leave and started mat leave at 38 weeks. That was hard going.

eurochick · 13/04/2014 20:00

I'm not planning to finish until 2 weeks before EDD, if I remain healthy. I have a desk job and I'd rather have as much paid time as possible afterwards.

RAFWife, what does early SPD feel like? I'm fine 95% of the time but I find my hips ache a little when I wake up each morning.

HungryHorace · 13/04/2014 20:08

I have a desk job too, but the commute was / is a killer.

And my mat leave started 2 weeks before DD was born and it'll start 2 weeks before my ELCS this time. I have to take all my leave prior to mat leave, which allows me to finish so early.

My boss and I both found legal work mentally exhausting in late pregnancy (she was due 2 weeks after me, but was 17 days overdue once her EMCS took place).

weeza13 · 13/04/2014 20:33

I am due end of july so am planning to leave end of june, a lot of my job is based at low levels as I work with young children so back and hip ache is already becoming an issue. Hopefully I will last until then. Cannot believe that is only 11 weeks away

RAFWife12 · 13/04/2014 20:39

eurochick - Mine started as hip pain really early (like 10 weeks) then progressed to low back pain around 18 weeks, started in the pubis around 21 weeks. I'm now 24 weeks and its all round my pelvis and hips! Constant pain but worse when I'm active. Unfortunately I am an on the go type of person. It's different for everyone though I guess. If you are getting any hip/back/pubic pain I would go to GP and get referral to physio asap! Physio said they can't make it better but can slow down the progress.

I plan to take a month off before my due date. I have 4 weeks annual leave to take, then start mat leave the monday before my due date which is a friday. I am already worried I'm leaving it too late, but equally will get bored if I'm off too long. I have to move when I start my leave, to go stay with my parents and didn't want to leave it too late.

mssleepyhead · 13/04/2014 20:43

I'm due on 23 August but will finish school on 23 July and officially go on maternity leave around the 16 August, so I'll be off work really for a month before the birth. Counting down already!

travispickles · 13/04/2014 20:57

Are you a teacher miss sleepyhead? You say you finish school July- surely you would start mat leave on day of birth?

FriendofDorothy · 13/04/2014 21:47

My SPD felt like grinding on the hop joints but also like someone had kicked me in the groin. I often get sore hips when I wake up but seems to ease of most days.

FriendofDorothy · 13/04/2014 21:48

Hip joints I mean!

mssleepyhead · 13/04/2014 22:21

I am a teacher, travis, but the paperwork I've been sent says something like the latest I can go on leave us the Sunday before my EDD. Is that different for other teachers?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 13/04/2014 22:26

My vague plan is to go off on maternity leave a fortnight before edd. I think it's really difficult to know now how I'll feel in 18 weeks.

FriendofDorothy · 14/04/2014 09:11

sigh just had a quick visit to the antenatal ward as I haven't felt much movement.

The midwife took ages to find the heartbeat which did nothing for my anxiety levels but she found it in the end.

I think my current stressful situation is making me feel very over-anxious at the moment.

PinaColadas · 14/04/2014 09:58

Poor you Friend that can't have done much for your nerves!? What did they do while you were there?

How long didn't you feel movement for them to check you over at the antenatal ward? I was worrying Saturday night/Sunday morning as baby hadn't followed usual kicking patterns and then about lunch time it returned to normal. Since then movements have stepped up a notch and I even had a limb sticking out of my side last night! But if this happens in future should I go to get checked?

ilovemonstersInc · 14/04/2014 10:07

Iirc its something like if you havent felt them for a few hours then have something ice cold to drink/eat and lie on your left side for something like half hour and wait.

Happened to me a few times in last pg and they poppedme on the mmonitor for 2 hours.

Glad all is ok friend

Ps just so no one gets confused this isitme1

scan on Wednesday so 1 full day left!

FriendofDorothy · 14/04/2014 10:07

I just was really unsure whether I had felt much movement since yesterday lunchtime. Although of course since being monitored I can feel a lot more.

At this stage they just used a doppler to check the heartbeat but it was hard to find due to the way my placenta lies.

eurochick · 14/04/2014 10:09

Thanks for the posts re: SPD. It doesn't feel like what you describe (thankfully - I don't envy you that).

Dor I'm glad you got reassurance in the end.

PinaColadas · 14/04/2014 10:41

Yes me too. It's hard when you're busy I don't know if anyone else is the same but I forget sometimes about baby, then panic and think well when did I actually feel it last!

DisneyDiva87 · 14/04/2014 11:43

My wee bairn has been going mental this morning, moving a lot. It's the first time I've really noticed it during the day and that it has been more than just the odd kick. Hubby still hasn't felt movement yet but it has been really sporadic so hopefully blob will start moving more and hubby will have his chance soon.

ilovemonstersInc · 14/04/2014 12:19

Aww Disney its amazing once the daddys can feel it. It makes it more 'real' for them.
Not long til our scans near scan buddy

PinaColadas · 14/04/2014 12:28

You lot have sprung me into action with your maternity leave talk.
I've made my final decision today and I've used up my last 8 days booking in between now and my leaving date so that I've got a 3 or 4 day week each week between now and then (bank holidays helping a bit!) then start 3 weeks annual leave 7th July with my official maternity starting 28th July (Due 1st Aug)
I work at a desk so hopefully will cope ok!

DisneyDiva87 · 14/04/2014 13:15

I know! I'm starting to get excited near scan buddy Smile

I think hubby is getting jealous, I keep telling him when the baby is moving I even emailed him at work this morning. We'll try again tonight and see if he can feel the wee blob, not that it is anything like a blob any more but then name has stuck.
